Title: Immortality
Description: What would you do to obtain it ?

Kolox - March 10, 2008 02:05 PM (GMT)
Immortality - it's one of the things many people carve for. There are story about people paying great prices for immortality, but mostly it is said it's not worth it.

Vampires, Ghost, Super beings, Gods - many forms of immortality that human imagination created.

If by some chance, you would be able to obtain immortality at great cost, not only yours, would you take it ?

If immortality could be obtained by us all, should we use it or ban it ?

obtained by all? i'm fully against that. Too.. chaotic. And there are people who don't deserve to step upon this world i suppose.

Have a chance at immortality? at the cost of morality? nay though it tempts me a lot. So much to live for and so little time in this world. Yet eternity seems a tad long to exist.

Haha i'm being contradictory. I guess if i had to take a stand... i won't go/stand for immortality...

Idelice - March 10, 2008 02:38 PM (GMT)
Life is a bitch... get eternal life and you get eternal bitching as well.

Zyel - March 10, 2008 03:29 PM (GMT)
Only evil character want Immortality, and so do I. What better way to live life to it's fullest if i'm not immortal?

Also people should just use immortality if they had the chance to do so.

Zangi - March 10, 2008 03:44 PM (GMT)
Immortality... should define that...

Do you mean being mortal and live forever? (Elf comes to mind. Fantasy and the likes, I believe Tolkien elves lived pretty damned long. And from the dragon... lance(?) books too, they live long.)
Or
Do you mean that you are impervious to getting killed like a mortal and living forever? (A lesser god comes to mind. Hah, back to the days when I used to watch Hercules and Xena. Loved those shows.)

The first, gives you the stage left exit... Not to mention... get too uppity and someone will slit your lil throat... >.>

The 2nd, well no stage exit... just a lesser god, without the powers. Maybe there is some lesser god bane out there... >.>

Well, if Immortality is defined by the first, I'd take it. Keeping one's own life is half the fun... of living...

But... with the 2nd, you could be reckless for the hell of it... hmm...

A werewolf like immortality would be funny. Image yourself as a harry beat which can't be shot or cut unless the metal used for this action is silver. Well I could live with that.

Reinard-fox - March 12, 2008 08:35 AM (GMT)
Is Immortality really worth paying that much for? Unless people dear to me become immortal too, of course. The longer you live the more deaths of you family/friends you witness. How is this happiness?

Tekkaman Saber - March 24, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
After watching the highlander movies i can say with confidence that i would not like to be immortal due to all of the bloodshed.

Stifler - March 27, 2008 01:37 PM (GMT)
Being a vampire's pretty cool...Sunlight is overrated.

Kolox - March 27, 2008 03:19 PM (GMT)
Anyone played The Elders Scroll : Oblivion. When you became vampire, sun wasn't a problem as long as you drunk enough blood, and with my character on level 42 and vampire boost, no one could stop me...

..it actually got really boring and I stopped playing...now that I think of it, when you get on god-like level in some game, it's getting boring. Is it the same for immortality..maybe it is.

I wanted to contradict you but somehow I can't stop myself agreeing. weird~!

@kolox: No wonder some of the stories in Greece is about their Gods boredoms. Well except for Zeus. He's too busy procreating :D

Bluedragon77 - March 27, 2008 05:43 PM (GMT)
I guess you're right. People will get bored with immortality.

Personally I'd prefer God-Like Powers over immortality. Who'd want to live forever as an average person? Now immorality as a god...That's sweet.

Kolox - March 27, 2008 07:28 PM (GMT)
My whole point was, if I was immortal god, like in the games I played..I would have nothing to do. There would be no challenge at all, there would be no reason to live or continue. If I was simply immortal, it would be fun for 100 years, 200 years - but then I guess I would obtain everything, all the skills I needed, all knowledge I needed, I would try everything.

Reinard-fox - March 28, 2008 12:35 PM (GMT)
^If you were mad about science there is nothing better then immortality, for you'll need a infinite amount of time to get the infinite amount of information.

Kolox - March 28, 2008 04:06 PM (GMT)
Maybe there is no such thing as infinite knowledge us human minds have finite capacity of understanding. Then immortality would be some sort of curse when you have infinite time but not infinite mind.

I'm getting serious Roa vibes from that statement...

Anyway, if you ever get bored of immortality, you can always try doing that this guy did in Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He's immortal, and he spends his time going around insulting everyone in the universe. In alphabetical order.

And oh, he used to go to other people' funerals and laugh at them too.

Kolox - March 29, 2008 10:41 AM (GMT)
^ That really proves he was bored :D I need to get that book, never heard of it before.

_vincent_ - March 30, 2008 06:28 PM (GMT)
I saw the movie but I didn't remember that part

Stifler - April 4, 2008 01:29 PM (GMT)
Its not from Hitchhiker's per se. Its from the series. If I remember, it was from "Life, the Universe, and Everything", the 3rd book in the Hitchkier's series. I believe the guy's name is Wowbagger, and he didn't appear in the movie.
