Likes: Playing his harmonica (reverence to his human life and a dear friend), annoying his handlers, and manipulating the people around him for his own devious means.

Dislikes: Surprises, Youma, and taking orders although he doesn’t have much of a choice.

Personality: He is extremely sly to the point that it is hard for one to determine his underlying motives and goals which he hides with an eerie smile, he shares some camaraderie with is fellow claymores but will always put himself before others unless under exceptional circumstances. When interacting with others he is very care free and rebellious by nature, he often taunts his handlers and peers with his dry humor and defiant attitude which is not always appreciated.

Special Skill: Yoki Armor, by regulating his yoki throughout his body he is able to make his flesh extremely tough to the point where it becomes armor. One drawback to this is that when activated it becomes very cumbersome to move around at speed since his whole body is tense. It has a very strange appearance when activated, it looks as if his skin has changed to a very dark blue color. After training he can pinpoint specific parts of his body to activate it, for example if a youma tried to slash him with its claws he could activate his forearms and block the attack.

History: Born in the town of Munire, Abel was born into a poor family that struggled to make ends meet, he grew up a few houses down from his best friend Elisabeth and both were very close to one another and frequently played together all day, both were 12 years old. Things were rough but they were at least happy, until that terrible day when it all happened.

“Quickly Elisabeth!” Abel shouted as he ran in front of her.
“Not so fast! I can’t keep up” she panted as they neared her house.
They both collapsed outside her home, they would frequently sneak out at night together and go on makeshift adventures by themselves and most of the time they would get caught and told off but that was part of the fun.

They were sitting next to each other as they heard voices coming from inside her home. It was Elisabeth’s father talking to someone else
“It’s shame it has turned out like this, but we can’t survive if we don’t do it” Elisabeth’s father said sadly.
“It happens a lot, you shouldn’t feel bad, in this day and age there is no other choice” the other man said comforting Elisabeth’s father.
“I can’t do it! She is my daughter!” as he said that Elisabeth gasped as she tightly held Abel’s hand.
“It has already been arranged, they will arrive tomorrow for her, it would be in your best interest not to anger them” the stranger said as he left the house. Abel and Elisabeth moved to the window outside her room, Abel looked at her terrified eyes not fully grasping the current situation.
“Get your things, I wont just stand by and watch those slavers take you” Abel whispered.
“What are you going to do?” she said in a feint voice.
“I’ll take you away from here, I’ll look after you and we can be together” he said sincerely.

Elisabeth was hesitant, she couldn’t just leave, but what would become of her if she stays? After some persuasion she snuck into her room and gathered up some things in a small bag. The two of them left the town of Munire that night not knowing where they were going or what they were doing, but they were together and free which is what mattered to them most.

After several hours of walking they were dead tired, they went into a small and fairly sparse forest. They sat down under a tree and took out some rations that they had managed to take with them, Elisabeth was still crying as Abel held her hand. In the distance a feint thud could be heard, Abel stood up to gauge where it came from, the thuds became closer and more frequent. The two were standing next to each other when the source of the noises emerged from the shadows, a monster, a demon, frantically running towards them, the two were frozen in fear at the advance of this terrifyingly beast. Abel shut his eyes as he felt a spray of moisture on his face….

As Abel slowly opened his eyes he looked at Elisabeth, the youma had plunged his hand into Elisabeth’s stomach. Abel watched in horror while still holding onto her hand, her white clothes were soaked in blood and her eyes were closed, the youma gave out a tormented laugh as he looked at Abel’s face twisted in terror. The youma pulled out his hand tearing out Elisabeth’s internals. Abel fell down and tried to scream but no sound could be heard except the sound of Elisabeth’s body falling to the ground next to him, the youma reached out and took hold of Abel’s head, the towering monster’s eyes pierced Abel’s very soul. “Cant move, Cant Scream, I’m going to die” Abel thought.

A glint of steel and a spray of blood was all he saw, within a split second the youma lay severed in two before him. Abel looked up and saw a tall man holding a sword of the likes he had never seen before. Tears were streaming down his face as he looked up at this figure that proceeded to walk away from him, he tried to speak but nothing came out. His gaze moved to Elisabeth, her dress was torn and blood flowed from her lifeless body, his emotions suddenly switched from sadness to rage, he grabbed a rock that was nearby and started to repeatedly beat the youma’s head as he cursed it for taking everything from him. Eventually he returned to Elisabeth and carried her a few feat and collapsed, he couldn’t carry her he was too exhausted. He then against his best interest decided to dig a grave for her, he had nothing but his bare hands to dig in the dense earth with, his fingers bled and his nails cracked but it didn’t matter to him. Once he finished he lowered Elisabeth into the grave and reluctantly covered it back up with dirt.

He took her small bag and opened it, mostly food scraps but he noticed something else, it was her harmonica that she used to play for him from time to time, just seeing this item made him start crying again. Her name was engraved into the metal, Abel traced out her name with his finger, but then he heard a voice
“You’re still here?” the voice said.
Abel looked up and saw that it was the man that saved him.
“I see you buried your friend” The man said while gesturing to the head stone.
“Where do you live kid?” the man asked.
“Nowhere” Abel said quietly.
“Shit! This is a nuisance! Well get up I’m taking you to the nearest town, I’m not going to get into trouble if you wind up dying out here!” he said forcefully.
Abel was confused, he didn’t know what was going on.
“I can’t just leave” Abel said
“Fine by me, when another youma comes around looking for breakfast don’t expect me to jump in and kill it” The man said as he began to walk away.
Abel held the harmonica tightly and took one last look at Elisabeth’s grave.
“Wait!” Abel shouted as he ran up to the man who continued to walk never breaking his stride.

The two walked for what seemed like hours until they ran into a man dressed in black.
“I see you picked up a straggler” the man in black pointed Abel out.
“Cheh! Its not like I wanted to, by the way what do I do with this brat? He aint got a home to go to and I’m not gonna get busted for his death!”
The man in black walked casually up to Abel, he took a long hard look at Abel’s face and smiled.
“You have nowhere to go right?”
“No” Abel said looking the man in his eyes knowing perfectly well that what he said was a lie. His parents were still back in Munire, but he couldn’t go back after what he had caused, he would most likely be exiled for his actions and his encounter with the youma.
“Do you want to become strong boy? If we take you in you can become stronger” the man in black asked.
Abel looked at him with all seriousness and replied.
“Yes…”
