Title: Rules Are Rules...

USA Roller Sports would like to remind all speed members of the policies for competing at any USARS sanctioned competition in a uniform with sponsorship identification. Wearing of an unlicensed sponsorship logo during competitive events (including warm-ups) and an awards ceremony is prohibited. This applies to all local, league, interclub and invitational competitions held during the year, as well as the “Pro/Elite” division at the indoor national championships and the outdoor national championships. Competitors must wear their club uniform in all regional and national INDOOR championships. Please refer to GR3.06.04 in the USARS general rules or SR361.1 speed rules for further information. Competitors should pay particular attention to GR3.06.04, section ©, regarding the penalties of wearing an unlicensed uniform.
As of January 25, 2007, USARS licensed sponsors are:
Mearthane Products Corporation (MPC)
Sunstar Travel and Tours
Wolfgang Candy
M Team
**Please let your sponsor know of this rule so that there are no complications at the next Invitational you skate!

Calvano should be on the list this week.

MLC has decided against it this year, as has the team decripit division.

Speaking of rules, which ref disqualified me at the Hackettstown meet? I will definitely admit that I used my elbow, but it was totally self defense. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. (LOL) I was a gonner if I didn't use it.

Coming into the final stretch of League Meets the little things we've been letting go will be cracked down on. Jewelry will not be tolerated, dork straps must be worn, helmets must be secure, and numbers must be ON and VISIBLE. Skaters will be DISQUALIFIED at the line instead of holding up races. Skaters without numbers will either not be placed or also DQ'd at the start of the race. Coaches, please stay on your toes with this because there will be no exceptions!
Feel free to comment back but we are getting your skaters ready for the National & Regional Championships where the officials... depending on where they are from... could take your skaters for something as minor as earrings.
Skaters are reminded that wedding bands and religious emblems may be worn but must be tucked under the uniform and tapped so it can not be seen while racing.
Again, this is to get YOUR skaters ready for Regionals and Nationals!

Thank you for mentioning the numbers. I've volunteered as a place judge a couple of times this season and it makes the job so much easier when we can easily read the numbers. I'm sure I drove Keith nuts last week asking for help reading numbers that were too light, ripped, or pinned at hip level. Fortunately he knows the skaters and we were able to minimize the post-race skate arounds for number checks. It's our first year of speed skating, so I am just now starting to recognize the skaters.
Good luck to everyone as we approach regionals and nationals. We'll be rooting for the Keystone League skaters!
