Title: December Meet

Snow Problem - December 13, 2006 04:16 PM (GMT)
OK I've been reading the board and emails and I listened at the meet...
Some of this may not make sense to you because you didn't ask... but I'm just going to address everyone all at once...

Thank you to 309 for hosting this meet as we almost didn't have a December meet and The rink owner and 309 skaters came to our rescue...

It was another successful meet! Great turn out! Some awesome racing and lots of FUN!

December meet we had 144 Skaters
9 - Novice only
8 - Standard only
83 -Standard and Novice
44 -Standard and pro
0 skated Pro only

We ran
Med standard distances
med pro distances
long Novice distances (they only have two distances in Novice)
relays (pick a partner)(I don't know the numbers on the relays)
short Standard distances
pro sprints
short Novice distances

Our officials did spend extra time with the skaters and coaches...
fixing helmets and such...
My statement here is this is a league... the skaters are practicing for big competitions or just learning how things work.
No, the officials at nationals will not take the time to explain about helmets and work with the kids and coaches.
They should know all this by the time they get there...
Our officials are trying to help them understand and getting them ready.
We are only a couple months into the season...
By the time we get to April and May...
We would expect everyone to have their jewelry off or covered, helmets on properly, know how things work, etc...

One thing I would like to say is...
The Keystone Speed League is trying it's best to work for everyone!
We do care about all the skaters( novice standard and pro).
We want you all to get your chance to compete, improve and enjoy!
We understand the level of comitment it takes from skaters, coaches and their families. And finally we ask that if you feel something is wrong or unfair, please, try not to get angry first... please bring it to our attention and we will try to explain our methods or we will bring it to the coaches and officials and try to find a solution we can all live with. It may not be solved at that exact moment in time but it will be addressed!

We are here for you!

We are working on a new format, if you have an oponion on the warm ups and relays there is a string on this board you can post to... we are listening!

From the Keystone Speed League...

Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season!
See you all in 2007!
