Title: Mardi Gras Reports
Description: Pics included (soon)

FINALLY back from New Orleans! But I must say the nine hour drive just to see Dom was well worth it. We got in Sunday night so we missed Elijah in the Bacchus parade. His fortunately went off without any problems.
Monday morning we did get down to the French Quarter and kept all eyes peeled for any hobbit sightings but I suppose they were still recovering from the Bacchus Ball from the night before since they were still partying it up in the Convention Center until 3 AM. We only stayed down there until the rain moved in. Downpour can not adequately describe the weather in New Orleans on Monday. We were soaked just running from the car to the hotel. And the rain continued to pour all day finally letting up around 7:00 pm.
Dom's parade was scheduled to roll around 5:45 but it did get held up a bit by the weather. Had the rain never subsided they would have taken the floats straight to the Convention Center and had a lot of disappointed fans on the street so god bless Mother Nature.
From inside the Convention Center they had live feeds every fifteen minutes or so on the big screen displays throughout the building giving us updates on their arrival time at the Center. And some adorable shots of Dom being his usual cheeky self.
The parade finally arrived at the Convention Center around 8:30-ish. Our table was right alongside the parade route about halfway through the building so waiting for the floar to make its way around to us was agony. I unfortunately had my eye pressed against the back of the camera so everything I saw was through the lens--- pics as early as possible tomorrow morning when they are developed-- and got beaned in the head with a couple strands of beads. [If it was a hobbit that chunked them, we're gonna have some words.] Dom's float made the full circuit of the building then they pulled it off to the side to unload Dom and krewe (no, that's really how it's spelled). By then, the two and a half bottles of wine were working their effects and I'd had my Dom sighting so I decided to make a quick run for the ladies room. I was cutting through this little backstage area and from behind me I hear someone yelling "C'mon! Move! Out of the way!" So I step aside for this little golf cart looking thing yelling, "What the.... well, f*** me!" I can officially say I almost became part of the pavement courtesy of a hobbit. But it would have been a wonderful way to end up in the hospital. I trekked it out to the lobby of the Convention Center as fast as I could (imagine doing that in two inch heels and a full length gown) to catch one last sight. But alas, I had left the camera with my friend to get more parade pictures.
Later in the evening, another Dom fan that I had met up with outside (HI Aggie if you finally found your way over here! :bye: ) and I were sitting at her table chatting when her friend pointed out a familiar face across the crowd. Thankfully grabbed the camera this time and more running in the two inch heels commenced. Aggie was able to get up close enough to say hi and get a kiss, but I didn't make it. Did get some good (I hope) pics. Unfortunately, the ball staff was escorting him through the building so he didn't have time to stop for more than about 30 seconds. That was the last Dom sighting of the evening-- at least for me. If I hear of any more, I'll update that info. But after two stretches of what seemed like a mile long sprint in those damn shoes, I had to call it a night.
I know........ long description, but I did promise one. And I swear that I will have the pics by noon (Central U.S. time) on Wednesday as soon as I pick them up.

Well, I just picked up my pictures and only two of them actually turned out. I am so kicking my own arse right now........ so add that to the fact that I totally blew my chances of meeting him and I'm not too happy at the moment. As soon as I can figure out how to post the pics, I'll have them up.
