Luvn Elwood - February 24, 2004 06:25 AM (GMT)
Hey there! My co-writer and I are very excited about this new project and we hope you all will enjoy reading it as much as we have putting it together!
My name is Marlo, and you can refer to me as that, Mars or Luvn Elwood.
My co-writer's name is Ronda and you can call her Ronnie, Ayngil, or Ronda.

Now for the really fun stuff: disclaimers and rules!
~ Ronda and I DO NOT know Dominic Monaghan, Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen, Billy Boyd or ANY of the other stars that may appear in this story.
~ We DO NOT have any personal information about them other than the stuff we gather from the internet.

~ PLEASE do not ask if we ever talk with them personally, because we DO NOT.

~ The following story is entirely FICTIONAL. The events are MADE UP and if you claim that this really happend to you in real life...more power to you.

~ Neither Ronnie or I own any of the lads, we simply write about them for our own pleasure.

~ As Ronnie and I DO NOT know any of these people, we are not assuming that they will read this thread.

~ Every new page = a new chapter!

~Please, NO flaming, rude name calling or doing anything that you would not want done to yourself. :ups:

~ This story is rated R for the following reasons:
*Language
*A lot of sexual encounters
*Drug use (ie cigarettes)

~Chapter One~

"Tonight is going to be busy," Marlo said.
"Usually is," Ronda replied.
The two girls continued to dress for the show. This was was what both girls had dreamed about since they were two.
"Well," thought Marlo, "maybe not exactly what we wanted...but close enough." Marlo finished the thought aloud.
"what was that?" Ronda questioned.
"Nothing...just...oh, I'm having those thoughts again."
"Hey! There's no need for those thoughts, don't make yourself cry..you'll ruin your make-up!" said Ronda on a silly note, "besides, we have the basics of our dream, we just need to build on it. Now come on! Put on your game face." She turned back to the vanity and continued fixing her shoulder length brown hair into a french twist.
Marlo was standing behind her, trying to calm the wild bush her hair had become after removing the rollers.
"You're right, Ronnie." Marlo said and smiled.
"You'd better believe it."
Right then the stage manager, Leo Clementis, opened the door and stuck his head in. "Five minutes Ladies," he said. But before disappearing he gave both the girls an appreciative once over.
"What a creep." Ronnie said.
"Yeah...but nothing's happend so far." Marlo gave an involentary shudder.
"He'd better keep it that way or I'll-."
"Now Ronnie...where's that game face? You don't want to ruin your make-up." Marlo said this in such a good impression that Ronda started to giggle.
Ronda stood up and walked over to the closet. She pulled out her lavender feather boa and Marlo's sky blue one, handed it to her in passing and made her way out the door.

Elijah and Dom stepped into the busy, smoky night club; ten minutes late for their meeting, and ready to kill eachother. Or at least seriously mame.
"Look, Dom, I told you a hundred times already; my car broke down and I had to wait for the cab." Elijah took off his hat and jacket and shoved them angrily at the lady behind the counter. He then stormed off, leaving Dom behind.
Dom called to Elijah's back: "What was that lipstick doing on your face? and why are you still in the same clothes as yesterday?!" But Elijah had already disappeared into the crowd. "Wanker." Dom muttered and threw his own hat and coat at the lady.
The lounge was dark and Dom was trying to find Elijah when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around and a fist met him in the mouth. Dom picked himself up from the floor and looked up at one of the largest men he had ever seen.
"Stay away from my girl," the man said and walked off.
Dom watched him walk away in confusion. He rubbed his jaw and decided to deal with that situation later. Finally he found where Elijah was sitting.
"What happend?" Elijah asked, "your face looks like there is a golf ball in your cheek!" Lij let out a snigger.
"Oh shut it. I don't know what happened." Dom told how the lump had arrived on his face.
"Wow, he found you then...excellent." Elijah ducked as Dom threw a punch. "Hey!I was just kidding!"
Elijah put up both hands in mock surrender.
"Fine." Dom sat down at the table and noticed there was a third party present.
"Dom, this is Mr. James London. He's willing to finance our screenplay." Elijah had excitment in his voice as he sat down and made the introductions.
"Well then you are my new best friend!" Dom reached across the table to shake hands.
The three were interrupted from further discussing anything when a waitress came by to take their orders.
"What'll it be mister...Elijah?" The waitress' jaw dropped and she looked as if she was going to faint. "And D-D-Dom too? Oh this is Heaven! What will you have, it's on the house."
The group ordered and she went off quickly to fill the order.
"So about this idea...." James London began.
"Oh," Dom started, "Elijah and I want to revive the old musical genre. Moulin Rouge did so well, and there hasn't been another musical hit since. It's an untapped market that we thought would be fun."
"Sounds promising," James said. "Do you have a film to re-make in mind? Or an original idea?"
"A remake," Elijah said.
"Which one?" James asked, but as Dom opened his mouth to devulge the idea, the noise dimmed and, seemingly, the lights went darker.
The stage lights turned on.
"Ladies and Gentlemen. Bel and the Dragon Nighclub is proud to present for your listening pleasure, Marlo and Ronda." The announcer left the stage and two of the most gorgeous women Dom and Elijah had ever seen stepped out onto center stage.
One had short, curly hair and sparkling blue eyes. Elijah couldn't take his eyes off her. The other had brown hair that was pulled up, and eyes that were the color light emeralds. Elijah noticed that Dom's jaw had dropped and heard him mutter "Ow!" Dom closed his jaw and muttered something unintelligable.
But then the girls started to sing and it dropped open again.

Chapter Two

After their set Marlo and Ronda returned to their apartment. Ronda set her purse down and squeals, "tell me I'm dreaming. Tell me I'm fucking hallucinating."

"Ronda," Marlo sets her and on Ronda's shoulders, "that was Elijah and Dom watching us. And I'm pretty sure they enjoyed what they saw," she giggled.

They look into each other's eyes for a few seconds with huge grins on their faces before squealing in delight.

They go on for a few moments before Ronda finally calms down a bit, "do you really think they liked us?"

"I'm pretty sure that Dom was about to rush the stage and jump you right there."

"I definately wouldn't have minded that."

"I know you wouldn't, you slut... Do you think Elijah noticed me?"

Ronda nods and smiles, "there was definately a gleam in his eyes."

They take a deep breath and collaspe on the couch. Ronda picks up the remote and turns on the t.v. to relax. It didn't take long for Ronda to let her mind travel back to their excitment, "do you think we'll see them again?"

"Ohmigawd!," Marlo gushes, "I hope so."

"Wonder what they were doing there..."

"Who care?!"

"I guess you're right," Ronda yawns.

Marlo yawns soon after, "maybe we should get to bed."

"I'm for that," Ronda stands, "we can squee and discuss how much we think they liked us tomorrow."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So...," Elijah plopped down on his couch, "Marlo and Ronda... Marlo, I like that name, it's different."
"Was that their names? I was kinda of mesmerized by that sassy, busty brunette," Dom sits down next to him.
"That would have been Ronda, Dom. And she looked to be the type that wouldn't mind you calling her that."
"I think I'm beginning to like American women, mate."
Elijah rolls his eyes, "if you spent more than one night with one of them, you might like them even more."
"What are you saying, mate?"
Elijah's lips curled into a wicked grin,"what do you say to going back to that night club?"
"I'd love to. They're good."
"Yeah, they are," Elijah chuckles. "I've got a challenge for you, Dom."
"I'm all ears, mate. What's cooking in that head of yours?"
Eljiah strokes his chin, "I say we find out the next time that they're playing, and go there."
Dom nods, "and attempt hooking up with them," he guesses.
"Yep. Now, on to the challenge... I want you to attempt pursuing an actual relationship with Ronda. And," Elijah adds, "you can only kiss her on the first date. Any further that that and you're just asking for a one-night stand."
Dom scratches his beard and nods, "you're right, Eli. I should be albe to try that," he extends his hand.
Elijah takes it with a grin, "this should be fun."
Dom stands up and starts heading for the door.
"What, not staying for a beer, Dom?"
Dom shake his head, "I'm a bit tired. Plus, I'm going to start thinking of a strategy to win Ronda over."
"Yeah, I'm sure you're be thinking about Ronda," Elijah makes a 'you-know-what' mothing with his hand.
Dom flashes Elijah hsi middle finger, "suck it, Elwood."
Elijah laughs, "oh, stop it Dom, you're turing me on," he picks up a pillow and tosses it at Dom.
"Oh give it up Elijah," Dom throws it back, with some force, "you can't tell you you're not hot for that other girl."
"Marlo, Dom. Her name is Marlo. And yes, I'm attracted to her, but I'm not about to start thinking about her like that."
"And that's the difference between me and you," Dom waves and walks out.
j-e-s-s-i-c-a - March 2, 2004 01:46 AM (GMT)
Terrific chap Ron! lol, Elijah and Dom are hilarious! I'm curious, what does Elijah get if Dom doesn't succeed?
Luvn Elwood - March 3, 2004 12:21 AM (GMT)
"I can see, you home with me/But you were with another man!!!!!/I know we, ain't got, much to say, before I let you get awaaaaaaaay!/ I said are you gonna be my girl?"
Marlo's alarm went off precisly at 6:45 AM. Yawning, she rolled off her Queen sized bed, bringing her bedding with her as she tumbled to the ground. "Blast this bloody Pilates class...why does it have to be so early?!" She thought.
She picked herself up and walked over to her stereo/alarm and turned it off. Trudging back to her bed, she was about to fall onto it when the phone began to ring. "Who the hell is calling at this time of day?" Marlo thought as she reached for the phone next to her bed.
"Hello?" She croaked out.
"Good morning Sunshine!" came the exhuberant voice of Alexandra Cox, Marlo and Ronda's agent. "Listen, I know you've been up for ages already," Marlo sniggered but Allie continued as if she hadn't heard, "So can you please get over here to the office quickly? I've got a gig for you and your lovely cousin this evening at, you'll never guess where." Allie paused for affect, "The Beverly Hills Hotel! There's a 1940s Glamour Party going on, last minute deal you know...oh, just come over and we'll discuss details."
"Sounds great Allie," Ronda's voice came down the line, "we'll be there to sign the papers and go over everything in an hour. See you then!" Ronda walked into Marlo's room, holding the phone. She pushed "end" and signaled for Marlo to do the same.
Marlo hung up the phone and looked at Ronda, "Wow," she said. Ronda was fully dressed and ready to go for the day, "Why so dolled up? And what is that gleam in your eyes? Are you planning something?"
"Well...yes, but it's illegal and entierly besides the point. Hmmm....maybe not SO besides the point, but nevermind anyway. And (in case you had forgotten) last night there were two certain gentlemen at our show-."
She was cut off as Marlo sat bolt upright on her bed and said, "You mean that was real?! I thought it was some kind of dream." Her energy found, Marlo jumped off the bed and began to head for the shower. However, she forgot that the her blankets were still wrapped around her legs and fell over into a heap.
Ronda turned from Marlo's closet, where she was finding Marlo an outfit to wear, and laughed at her cousin. "I hope that's not what you're planning to wear for the gig tonight."
Marlo reached down to her feet and pulled off her sock. She threw it at Ronda and stuck out her tongue. "What if I am...who knows, Calvin Klein could be there and become totally inspired by this ensemble."
Ronda rolled her eyes. "You now have less than 30 minutes to get ready. GO."
Unraveling herself, Marlo ran to the shower.
20 minutes later, she was sitting in her red convertable and waiting for Ronda to get her ass out the door. Once she had, Marlo took off at a speed only California drivers could appreciate and headed towards the office.
"Now," she said, looking in the re-view mirror and putting lipstick on, "tell me again. Last night wasn't a dream...was it?"
"Nope, it was 100 percent real!"
"Wow." Marlo giggled, causing her lipstick to smudge slightly onto her teeth. "Hold the wheel for a second Ronnie." Ronda obliged and Marlo proceeded to finish her make-up. Five minutes later, she was done and took the wheel back. "That was one of our better goes at that! I didn't feel any swerving at all."
They laughed and continued to talk about the boys until they reached the office.
After they parked, and were walking from the parking lot into the actual building, Marlo said, "So what was this illegal activity you wanted to do?"
"Oh that," Ronda laughed, "Just the usual, you know, buy a map to one of their houses and camp on the lawn, claiming to be long lost friends of the family."
"Omigosh what a wonderful idea!" Marlo rolled her eyes and sniggered. "With the looks they had on their faces, I think they're the ones who are going to buy the map to our house."
"They don't need a map," Ronda said and winked, "Not with our magnents...they'll just be drawn to us."
It was too late for Marlo to respond because the elevator had reached their floor and Allie was waiting for them when the doors opened.
"On time, as usual." Allie said and smiled. Allie was a beautiful woman, age 37 with only slightly greying light brown hair. Her most stunning features, however, were her eyes, inhertited through her Spanish-Basque heritage. "You girls are so lucky! This client is high end and requested you two personally."
They were in Allie's warmly decorated office now, sipping on bottled water. Allie carried on, "and at the The Hills...oh! You have no idea. Do you have any outfits for tonight? 1940s style you know, and don't forget to pick out the songs!" She continued talking about that night for the next twenty minutes. Finally she said, "Got all that? Good, see you there! remember, 45 minutes early!" That apparently signaled the end of the meeting for Allie stood up and walked to her door.
Marlo and Ronda stood up and followed her out.
Once to their car, Marlo said, "We have nothing suitable to wear!"
"You are totally correct...shopping?"
"Oh yeah!" Marlo exclaimed and took off at the California speed again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Elijah woke up to the ringing of the telephone. "Whoever that is, their ass is going to be dead." He thought and rolled over to look at the clock. 9:00 shone brightly on the face. "I could have slept for another hour?!" He said aloud and groaned.

"Hello?" He said down the line after he had picked up the phone by his bed.

"Hey there Lij!" Came Dom's overly cheerful voice.

"Hello Dom, you Bastard!"

"AHHH...I woke you up, didn't I?" Elijah heard a girl's muffled giggle in the background. "Sorry 'bout that Mate, hope I didn't distrub any dreams." Lij heard the girl giggle again in the background.

"Who's that with you?" He asked.

"Well...I'll tell you later. For now, just get up and get ready. I've got a party planned for tonight. 40s style. Get out your best clothes and put your swing dance shoes on! We're going to party like it's 1949."

"When?"

"Party starts at 9:30 tonight in the Palm Room at the Hills. Guess who I've booked to sing?"

"Who? Casey and the Sunshine Band?" Elijah was not in a good mood. He had been interupted from a dream involving he and Marlo on a beach in the Caribbean.

"Those two girls...Rachel and Margo." Dom's voice was muffled as he said this and Elijah heard even more giggling in the background.

"Okay...I'll...see you there..I guess." Elijah hung up the phone, got up and took a shower.
~~~~~~
Promptly at 9:30 he arrived at the party. Inside, the dance floor was already crowded with people trying to swing dance to the DJ's tunes.
He looked around for Dom, who he found surrounded by Billy Boyd, Sean Astin, Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen.
"Hey guys!" He said and exchanged hugs all around, "You won't mind if I steal Dom for a sec, great, we'll be right back."
He and Dom went over to the bar. "Who was that this morning? I thought we had a deal...no more one night stands."
"That was with Raquelle, it didn't apply last night."
"Ronda, Dom, Ronda. And I guess you have a point. But let's rememeber, tonight, should you talk to Ronda, you aren't going to do what?"
Dom rolled his eyes and said, "C'mon man! I'm a grown man. I can keep the snake in the trousers if I need to. And I'll get the chance to tonight." Dom glanced to the stage where the sound guys were setting up for the live band and entertainment. "I talked with...Ronda...we're going out after she and Margarite get done tonight." Dom winked at Elijah then went smacked the bar with the palm of his hand. "Hey! Bartender! Get my friend a Dirty Goose, put it on my tab." With that, he stood up, patted Lij on the shoulder and went back to the guys.
"Can I take his place?" Elijah heard a voice say. He turned and there she was. Marlo.
"Of course..but aren't you supposed to be backstage?"
"Yeah...but I a drink to calm my nerves." She grinned and her blue eyes sparkled. "Shhh!" She laughed, "Don't tell my manager." Winking, she sat down.
Chapter 4
"...When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
If you will learn to begin
To trust the voice within..."
The blend of Ronda's voice with the Christinia Aguilera CD filled the room as Dom walked in. "You sound good." He said appreciatively.
Ronda gasped and spun around.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you."
Ronda blushed and subconciously tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "it's okay, Dom. I tend to be a bit jumpy anyway."
"I see you know who I am." He smiled," Good, that means there doesn't have to be any introductions. If your name is Ronda, that is."
"You are correct, Sir," Ronda pulled the eyeliner out of her make-up bag, "did you want something, or are you lost, Mr. Monaghan?"
"I...uh...." Dom's voice faltered as he watched Ronda apply the eye liner. "How can you do that to yourself? Does it hurt?"
Ronda grinned as she applied a black line along her top eyelid's lashline. "Is this a business or pleasure stop?" She questioned and began to apply the mascara.
Dom shuddered at the thought of taking a mascara wand to his own eye. He shook himself out of that thought, took a deep breath and said, "business, actually. I'm here to wish you luck and..."
Ronda was adjusting herself into the bodice of her costume and thinking,"Where in hell is that double sided tape?" She looked and caught Dom watching her in the mirror "and...?" She bent her head so he wouldn't see her smile and blush.
Dom swallowed and shook his head, "I'll talk to you more later.... After the show." He turned and headed back to the bar, passing Marlo along the way.
"Whiskey. Straight," Dom said as he approached the bar.
"Here ya go Sweetie," the cute, curly-haired barista handed him the drink, "that'll be $7.50."
Dom slapped a $10 on the bar, "keep the change, Love."
"Thanks...Dom," the redhead replied and winked.
"Did yer little songbird shoot ye down, Mate?," Billy laid a hand on his friend's shoulder as he too, sat down at the bar and ordered a whiskey.
Dom emptied his shot glass and slammed it on the counter and shook his head, "I choked, Bill. That's not like me."
"Ah," Billy nodded and chuckled. "Alert the media! Dominic Monaghan cannae talk to a girl he fancies."
Dom sighed and grumbled, "maybe I'll have another." He began to signal for a second whiskey from the barista.
But Billy grabbed the hand he was using for signaling and said, "No mate, ye'll have a beer with us...besides, your girl is about to go on stage...don't wannae miss it while flirting with the barista, do ye?" He winked and gave the redhead a flirtatious girn.
Dom punched Bill's arm and nodded, "that's an even better idea." He stood up and walked with Billy back to the table where Orlando and Elijah were sitting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Odd...I just saw Dom leaving from this direction...yet your make-up isn't smudged and you're clothes are, well, almost straight." Marlo grinned at her cousin and pulled the double sided tape out of the "supply box". The supply box had come into being after the girls had seen "The Wedding Planner" and the benifits that Jennifer Lopez's character had gotten from being so organized. It held extras of everything; deoderant, lipstick, earrings, mouth spray...and double sided tape.

"He just wished me luck," Ronda replied as she put in her second earring, grabbed the tape from Marlo and began to re-arrange herself.

"So... nothing happened?" Marlo raised an eyebrow and walked over to her own mirror.

"Nothing. Well...I did catch him looking at my boobs in the mirror. Strapless dresses are wonderful aren't they?" Ronda said almost as an aside to herself. Then she continued directly at Marlo, "either he's not what we think... or he's not interested."

"No way, Ronnie. You're beautiful, you're talented, and, girl, you're easy." Marlo turned from the mirror after making her own adjustments and winked at Ronda.

"I'm not that easy. I happen to be very picky." Ronda stuck her tongue out at her cousin.

"Keep that tongue to yourself...and Dom." Marlo said and opened the door which lead to behind the stage.

"Ladies and Gentlemen...The Beverly Hills hotel is proud to present...Marlo and Ronda!"

The stage lights went on, the crowd applauded...and Ronda and Marlo stepped out onto center stage....

Luvn Elwood - March 23, 2004 01:05 AM (GMT)
Elijah couldn't take his eyes off her. She was resplendent in a dark blue satin gown. Her golden hair shimmered in the stage lights and when she opened her mouth, his jaw dropped. He didn't want to look away, but he chanced a glance at Dom. Dom's eyes were as big as saucers and his jaw had dropped...further than Elijah's it seemed.

"Someday he'll come along, the man I love/
And he'll be big and strong, the man I love/
And when he comes my way, I'll do my best to make him stay."

The bar, which had been busy now emptied as couples made their way onto the dance floor. The slow rhythm of the music was perfect for dancing and Lij found himself wishing he had someone to dance with; namely, Marlo.

The song ended and the crowd applauded. Strains of the next tune came floating through from the jazz band Dom had hired.

"This was a great idea Dom!" Orlando leaned over the table and said.

"I'll have to agree with the elf," said Billy.

"Thank you Gents. It was nothing really...just pulled a few strings, called in a few favors, killed the middleman, hid his body in the...oops. Better not tell you that. You may want to use the spot for your own burying. Can't let it get to full now, can we?" Dom said and winked. He then stood up, stretched and said, "I'm off to find James London. Business to attend, even with that gorgeous fox up there on stage." He walked off to the bar where James was sitting.

"Did he just call that lass up there a fox?" Billy questioned, "I think this 40s theme is going to his head a bit. Well, I'm off. Gonna go find a lass for myself. Show her what a real man is like!"

"If she even looks at your face for fear that you'll see her laughing at that kilt of yours!" Orlando laughed.

Billy shrugged and said, "the kilt keeps the ladies happy. Easy access and all that." He stood up and walked to the nearest girl, an attractive, twenty something girl with black hair. She looked at Billy, grinned and took his hand. They were on the dance floor, dancing to "Blue Skies" before Orlando had a chance to blink.

"I've got to get me a kilt," he muttered, and then laughed. "Think I'll go find a girl...ahh!" Orlando muttered and stood up, "There's a fine specimen...I'll just go round...." And he was off-faster than any racehorse Elijah had ever seen.

Elijah sat back in the bench seat and chuckled at his friends. At present, he was content to sit and watch the set. His peace lasted for a good two minutes before he was interrupted.

"Uh...are you Elijah Wood?" A girl asked. She had that dreamy, starry-eyed look that Elijah recognized right away. Inwardly, he groaned.

"Yes-." He was cut off with her excited yelp of happiness.

"You can't believe how happy I am to meet you! Ever since Forever Young, Radio Flyer...even since that brief instance in Back to the Future II...." Her voice trailed off and her eyes got a glassy look to them.

Here we go..."Would you care to dance?" He asked her.

Suddenly, he was in her arms and on the floor. She danced well, he gave her that...but she chatted non-stop, which interrupted his thoughts about Marlo. Finally, the song was over. He took her to the bar and ordered her a Cosmopolitan..."Put it on my tab, he told the barista" and then went back to his seat.

Marlo should be done soon...then we can talk again. He thought about their time at the bar, almost an hour ago. She hadn't been fawning over him, or drooling...she had been perfect.

Dom came over to him then. "Just finished talking to London," he said. "Everything is ready. All we have to do is pitch this to the girls and.… We’ll be in business!" He looked towards the stage, where his eyes went straight to Ronda. "Yeah...they just have to accept it...." Dom walked towards the stage as if entranced.

Elijah watched him walk to the stage and then turn to go backstage. Good idea...meet them and congratulate them when they're done! He thought and followed after Dom.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marlo looked out on the crowd of dancing people and smiled. She and Ronda were almost done singing and then she could go join the dancing. Maybe I’ll get to dance with Lij. Inwardly she sighed and thought about their conversation back at the bar.
He had been very polite, answering all her questions about being famous with patience like that of a pre-school teacher. Elijah had laughed at some of them, like when she had asked him if he ever got tired of people interviewing him on what it’s like to be famous.
Marlo drew herself out of her silent reverie and looked once more at the crowd. Disappointment flooded her as she saw Elijah…dancing with a brunette. We had been getting on together so well…I’ll bet that’s his girlfriend. Silly me for thinking that he would be at all interested in me. Me and my stupid questions.
The set ended and Marlo and Ronda headed off stage. As soon as she was back in her dressing room, Marlo burst into tears.
“What?” Ronda asked and came over “We did good!! I’ll bet there were tons of labels out there…and they saw us. No more Bel and the Dragon for us! Our dream will come true, just from this one night. Why are you crying?” Ronda went over to her closet and pulled out her stash of chocolate. “Here, sit down and have some…you know you’ll feel better.”
Marlo accepted the chocolate and sat down. Once she had finished the whole box, she stood up and said, “You’re right Ronnie. Let’s go out there and mingle….” With that, her voice trailed off and she started crying again. “On stage, I-I-I saw Lij dancing with another girl. Before the set, I had talked with him at the bar and we had got on famously. Now he has a girlfriend.” This brought on a new batch of tears.
Someone knocked at the door. “Girls?” Came the voice of Allie Cox, “are you decent? There’s some people out here who have some questions for you.”
Marlo looked around in dismay. The room was scattered with random objects, including several used tissues, chocolate wrappings, bras and nylons.
“J-just a minute.” Ronda called out the door. She frantically began cleaning up. Two minutes later, the room was spotless…so long as no one looks under the dressing tables, Marlo thought and giggled.
“That’s better! Ronda said to Marlo and then hollered, “C’mon in!” to Allie and her followers.
The door opened and in walked Allie, dressed stunningly in a bright canary yellow, and Elijah and Dominic. “Ladies, these men are here on business. Let me just tell you-what they are going to offer is wonderful! So listen closely.” Allie left them in the room all alone.
“Ladies, that was marvelous!” Dom said and walked over to Ronda. He took her hand and kissed it. “In fact, what do you say we get out of here and go celebrate?”
“Isn’t this a business stop?” Ronda questioned. Inwardly her heart was going 100 miles per hour.
“Oh yes.” Elijah said. He had been watching Marlo who had started to pack up. “Dom and I are going to start work on the remake of an old screenplay-.”
“And we want you two lovelies to be the leading ladies.” Dom cut Elijah off.
“W-w-what??” Marlo stuttered.
“Are you interested?” Elijah asked and walked over to Marlo. “Please say yes. We’re re-making White Christmas and you two would be perfect.”
Ronda giggled and said, “Will I get to kiss anyone famous?”
“Me.” Dom stated and winked.
“Then count me in.” She said excitedly.
“C’mon Marlo, whaddya say?” Elijah looked at her with his blue eyes.
Marlo sighed. “How can I resist?” She smiled and thought, what about his girlfriend?
Elijah smiled, “Great. Let’s celebrate and go dance.” He took Marlo’s hand, and Dom took Ronda’s. They all went out on the dance floor and danced the night away.
Chapter Six
"I came here, by taxi...
You came by limosine..."
Ronda took Dom's hand with a smile, "I would love to dance with you," she responded breathlessly.
The girl's set had ended after midnight. But the time did not matter to Ronda. She was in Dom's arms. To her, the night was just beginning. The party continued for several more hours. However, the majority of the guests had left at the end of Ronda and Marlo's set. Those left had either given up on dancing and were enjoying the open bar, or were huddled in intamate corners canoodling with their partner.
Dom did not want to stop dancing. He enjoyed having Ronda pressed against him, swaying to the rhythm of the DJ's records. This is what it's all about. He thought and pulled Ronda to him a bit more snuggly, giving a deep sigh of satisfaction as he did so.
Ronda noticed the sigh, but didn't say anything. Dom was holding her close, and one of her favorite songs was being played. She closed her eyes and reveled about being in Dom's arms.
The music stopped, and the DJ's voice came out over the speakers. "My time here is through. It was a pleasure working with all of you tonight. I hope you all will remember my company next time you need DJs."
Dom abruptly pulled away from Ronda. He had almost let himself get drawn too deep into the vortex of emotions she was making him feel. Must remember the bet! He reminded himself.
The rest of the party goers started to leave. They stopped and thanked Dom on their way out. Ronda had gone over to the bar where she had seen Marlo and Elijah head during the DJ's final farewell.
"Right when things were starting to take off!" Ronda said aloud to herself. It was then that she felt something slither around her waist.
"I'm not going to let you get away that easy," came Dom's voice, whisperd softly into her ear. He escorted her to the bar to see about Elijah and Marlo.
"Bartender!" Dom shouted to the barkeep that was still behind the counter cleaning up. "I'm the officiator at this party, and I say that this party isn't over til...the booze is gone!"
Ronda let out a chuckle at that and leaned into Dom, "Then we'd better drink slowly." She said suggestivly into his ear.
Dom simply looked at her and winked.
Only half an hour later, the last of the booze was almost gone and Marlo had started showing signs of fatigue. "I'm sorry Ronnie," Marlo whined to her cousin, "but you know I'm not as used to this all night thing like you are. Remember," she said with a wink, "You do have a year on me in this department."
Ronda smirked as she leaned against the bar with Dom's arm still encircling her waist, "if you're talking about how much older I am than you, then yes, I know. However, if we're talking about how much longer I've been partying than you..That's more like seven years, considering you haven't even started yet."
"Looks like you've got yourself a little party animal there, Sblomie," a drunken Elijah slurred.
Dom looked behind Ronda so the girls couldn't see the dirty look he gave Elijah to that remark. He already fancied Ronda, but knowing that she was fun and talented...that was killing him. It wasn't the first time that night Dom wished he hadn't taken Elijah up on that bet.
"Oh come on Elijah, we know you're quite the party animal yourself and that you started drinking before you were 21," Ronda giggled and Dom choked on his brandy.
Elijah looked at Ronda with glassy eyes, "but where I was at, it was legal to do it at the age I was in New Zealand when I was 18...and then I was 21...and then...."
Ronda covered her laugh at his messed up sentence with a cough. Marlo, on the other hand, didn't do anything to cover up her grin and the giggle that followed.
"And plus, there's no proof that I did...anything." Eliah nodded to himself and continued, "They can't prove anything."
Ronda laughed lightly and shook her head, "I seem to recall a certain drunken episode from down in New Zealand...involving a fountain of sorts...and...my, my," Ronda shook her head, looked over and winked at Dom then back at Elijah, "Do I recall someone pissing in that fountain? And then bragging about it to the press...."
"The lady's got a point there, 'Lij." Dom leaned onto the bar's counter and looked at his friend.
Elijah sighed in tired, drunken defeat.
Marlo let out an obvious yawn.
"Time to ship on out," Ronda giggled softly.
"Can we walk you lovely ladies to your car....s?" Elijah looked up from the counter where he had laid his head.
Marlo smiled, "actually, we booked a room here for the night."
Ronda continued, "we thought things might get a tad out of hand tonight and wanted a quick retreat."
Dom looked at Elijah and then said, "At least allow us to walk you to your room then."
Elijah nods in agreement, "we're walking you up."
Ronda smiled and laughed, "It's okay Elijah, you don't have to escorts us. We're grown ups. Remeber? I'm 23...Marlo's 22...."
Dom took Ronda's hand in his and started to lead her out towards the hotel lobby, "but we want to. We may need to protect you from any adoring fans!"
Ronda chewed nervously on her bottom lip but before she could say anything else,
Marlo responded , "that would be very kind of you guys, we'd appreciate it."
"Yeah," Ronda exhaled sharply, "I'm sold."
Dom and Ronda walked back to Ronda and Marlo's dressing room and picked up the luggage. When they got out to the lobby, they found Marlo helping Elijah into the elevator.
Ronda and Dom took the next elevator.
"Lij is really smashed tonight." Ronda said once the two of them were alone in the elevator.
"What? This? Smashed...nah. This is nothing. He'll probably barely have a hangover from tonight. The only reason he got like this anyway is because he likes your cousin but is too nervous to act on it while sober."
The doors on the elevator opened and Ronda stepped out into the hall. As she was taking her bag from Dom she said, "so...do you wanna come in for a night cap? I make an excellent pot of coffee. And we still need to go over some of those plans for White Christmas." Speaking of White Christmas, Ronda began to wonder what had happend to Allie as the evening had progressed. It was then that she remembered seeing Allie chatting it up with Viggo and the two of them leaving together right after the set had ended.
Dom smiled and joined Ronda in the hall. He took the bag from Ronda again and followed her to her room's door.
When they got there, they found Marlo and Elijah, sitting on the hallway floor. Marlo looked up at Ronda and said sheepishly, "You have the keys."
Ronda laughed and said, "Dom and Lij are going to join us inside for a nightcap."
It was then Dom groaned and said, "I've just remembered! I've an early call this morning... So maybe we should just exchange numbers and call it a night."
Ronda sighed and pouted a little, "that's cool. But...does this mean it's not solely a business relationship?"
Elijah smiled and looked at Marlo, "well... we like you... and we gather that you like us too..."
Both girls giggled at Elijah's adorableness.
Dom smirked and clarified for his friend, who then was simply muttering random lines about phone numbers, agents and Disneyland. "What my friend would have asked, had he not been so pissed would have been: would you two lovely ladies like to start seeing us, outside of business?"
"I think I'd like that," Ronda grinned.
Marlo nodded in agreement.
"We can at least walk you to the door," Elijah finally found his voice again.
The rest of the party simply broke into laughter. But, remembering that they were in a hotel, the laughter quickly died down and an awkward silence ensued.
"So...," Ronda finally broke the silence, "I guess this is good-night."
Elijah leaned over to Marlo and placed a soft, gentle kiss on her cheek. Ronda was expecting the same and began leaning in for one, but Dom turned at the last second and kissed her on the cheek instead.
"I stand in your doorway..
Your world looks so enchanting..."
Once the girls were in their room, Ronda threw herself onto the couch, "I really can't tell whether he likes me or not." She opened a pint of Ben and Jerry's that was in the mini fridge.
"Uh-I'm going to with a 'yes' on that one," Marlo sat on her cousin's feet.
"Are you sure?" Ronda was still skeptical.
"Yes, and with that in mind... you know what you have to do."
Ronda groaned and whispered, "but i can't."
"Ronda, you have to break up with him."
"And the moonlight comes into the window like a spotlight...
(LIsten up 'cause this is real)
I sit you down and I begin to gently rock the mic...
'Cause I'm trying to tell you what I feel...
And we're truly approaching a moment...
...
All I have to offer you is this...
Just a stupid Little love song...
...
Just sit right down I'll sing this song to you."
Chapter Seven
It had been two weeks since the party. Marlo and Ronda had gone back to their usual humdrum life singing at Bel and the Dragon. But something was different this time. The mood was lightened. They had given Leo their three weeks notice the day after Elijah and Dom had offered them the parts in the movie.
Marlo, who usually sulked before the show, was giddy with anticipation every night now.
“What is up with you?” Ronda asked her as the girls were preparing for their set on Thursday night. It was their usual routine; sing five songs, host the karaoke, perform special requests then be done for the night.
“It’s…it’s ‘Lij.” Marlo giggled and continued, “The past two weeks have been absolute heaven!” Marlo sighed and applied the last of her make-up.
“Uh-news flash, Sweetie, neither he or Dom have called us since that night.” Ronda was looking into the mirror and putting on lipstick.
“I know….” She sighed contentedly and continued, “but just the fact that he has my number and is going to call-.” The opening of the door and the intruding head of Leo Clementis, the stage manager, abruptly cut off the rest of Marlo’s sentence.
“HEY!” Ronda yelled at Leo and turned from the mirror, “ever heard of knocking?”
Leo’s gaze traveled up and down Ronda’s figure before he answered, “I’m surprise you mind, Ronnie.”
Marlo gave a shudder and busied herself with tidying up her vanity.
“That’s Ronda to you. And of course I mind!” Ronda had turned from the mirror with her hairbrush in hand. Marlo noticed that she was clutching the handle very tightly.
“Fine, fine…just thought you to lovelies would like to know that you have exactly,” he looked down at the gold watch on his stubby, hairy arm, “30 seconds ‘til curtain. I suggest you get your asses out there. Now.” As soon as the door closed, Ronda let out a whoosh of pent up air.
“Next time….” She muttered but didn't finish the thought. “C’mon Marlo. Let’s get out there.”
Marlo nodded and followed Ronnie out to the stage.
* *
Three hours later, at 2 AM, the set was over. The girls were in their dressing room, getting ready to go and discussing their agent, who had been elusive for the past two weeks.
“Do you think that she and Viggo really hit it off that night?” Marlo asked. “I saw them leave together.”
“Yeah, so did I. Allie looked very happy. They must have hit it off. We haven’t seen or heard from her in two weeks! Usually it’s every two hours that she calls.” Ronda said and continued to wash her face.
“True…I just hope she gives us all the details when we have that meeting with her tomorrow!”
Before Ronda could respond, a knock came on the door.
“Who’s there?” Marlo said as she crossed the room to the door. She leaned close and heard “Dom and Elijah” come from the other side. Marlo squealed silently and mouthed “It’s them” to Ronda. After a moment to compose herself, Marlo opened the door.
Dom stepped in first. Marlo grabbed him and gave him a hug. “It’s so good to see you!” she said and pulled away. Her next move was to shove him and say, “why the hell haven’t you called?” Dom looked surprised for only a moment before he smiled and said,
“Good to see you too.” However, by then his gaze was already on Ronda. He walked over to her and took her hand. “M’lady.” He said and gave her hand a kiss. Ronda actually blushed and gave a little laugh.
Elijah followed Dom into the room and, as soon as he saw Marlo had turned a very cute shade of pink. How sweet! Marlo thought and pulled Elijah into a hug.
“How have you been? You didn’t call!” Marlo said to him and reluctantly released him from the embrace.
“Er...Dom and I have been busy. Planning the last minute details of White Christmas and all that.” Elijah said.
“We’ve seen quite a bit of you though.” Dom said. “We’ve been to the show every-night these past few weeks.”
Ronda lightly punched him on his arm, “Why didn’t you say anything Sblomie?” She said with a little pout.
“Dunno really.” Dom said, “It was just fun to watch along with the crowd, I guess.” He shrugged.
“But now,” Said Elijah from the couch where he and Marlo had sat down on, “we’re here on business. Everything is ready for the film. Dom and I want to start shooting this Monday.”
Finally, no more Bel and the Dragon…or Leo, Marlo thought and impulsively leaned over to give Elijah a kiss on the cheek.
Elijah looked at her, surprised. Then grinned and blushed a little. “Do you want to go to Starbucks?” He asked Marlo. “I know one that’s open 24 hours.”
“Sure!” Marlo said and stood up. “Just let me change.” She quickly stepped behind the changing screen and stripped out of her dress.
“Don’t go behind that on our account, Love.” Dom quipped.
“She’s just modest.” Ronda said as Marlo appeared from behind the screen, “but don’t worry…stay after they go, and I won’t disappoint you.” Ronda had leaned in close and whispered that into Dom’s ear.
Dom gave a cough, and his eyes glittered. Elijah noticed the look on his friend’s face, and threw him a look of his own. Remember the bet, he hoped the look said.
Marlo had changed into her luckiest clothes. A sexy pair of black, lacy knickers complete with matching bra, low cut jeans and a tight, faded slate blue Smashing Pumpkins shirt. To pull the outfit together, she wore her favorite stilettos.
“Let’s go!” Marlo said and grabbed her purse. “Don’t wait up for me Ronnie.” She winked at her cousin, took Elijah’s hand and went out the door.
The two of them reached Elijah’s black, BMW Mini Cooper and Elijah opened the door for Marlo. He walked over to the driver side, climbed in and started the ignition. Immediately, Smashing Pumpkins’ “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” blared through the speakers. Elijah had installed high-end sound equipment in his car and enjoyed turning the bass and volume all the way up. “Too loud?” He questioned Marlo.
“No way!” she said, “It hasn’t blown my clothes off yet!” She started singing along with the CD.
Elijah laughed and pulled out of the parking lot onto the street. “Shall I turn it up some more then?” He said with a wink.
“If you can…go ahead!”
Ten minutes and two highways later, they reached their destination.
“So…do you want to go in?” Elijah asked.
Marlo looked in through the windows and saw that the place was packed with college students studying and talking. “Well….” She let her voice trail off and looked over to Elijah. “We could go in and order something…and then go over to the park?” It was a warm night and there was a park across the street.
“We could do that. Or…my place is only about five minutes from here. I’m not too shabby at making coffee.” Elijah shyly looked up into Marlo’s eyes.
“Let’s go to your place then.” Marlo said.
They pulled into Elijah’s mom’s house, parked and walked to the backyard where Elijah lived in the pool house.
As soon as they walked into the room, Marlo began to scope out the surroundings. There was a sitting area with two couches and a TV. Around the TV, random video game systems and games were proudly displayed, their cords neatly wrapped and tucked away. Marlo strolled over to the couch and sat down.
“Squishy…squashy…flouncy…fluffy…yet firm. Poofy…um….” Marlo spoke with anxious, excited thoughts flooding her mind. I wish he would come over here! All I wanna do is make out…Is he getting the picture? She started to press repeatedly on the empty seat next to her.
As Marlo said all these things, Elijah had been slowly advancing towards his couch from behind. “Marlo,” he said seductively, “just shut up so I can kiss you.” He jumped onto the couch and passionately moved in, pressing his lips intensely against Marlo’s. They pulled apart for a moment to gaze into each other’s eyes.
Then space no longer existed between them. They became entwined in each other’s arms. Elijah gently caressed Marlo’s face. Marlo began unbuttoning his shirt. He began to slide hers up and off. It came off, but as he began to unhook her bra, for easier access, she stopped him. With her mouth still pressed against his, she murmured, “Stop. We must stop.”
Elijah jumped back, surprised at his own bold actions and gave her a questioning look. “What’s wrong?” He was still breathing heavily.
“I-it’s complicated.” Marlo stuttered. She sat up on the couch and began to re-hook her bra. Reaching for her discarded shirt she continued, “I-I’m a virgin. And actually…that…that was my first time ever...um...making out like that.”
“Well-you’re very good.” Elijah said in a lighthearted manner.
“Thanks. Listen, I…I’m sorry about all this. Maybe you could just take me home?” Marlo began to stand up, but Elijah took her hand and pulled her back onto the couch.
“Marlo. It’s okay, whatever, it is-.”
Marlo abruptly cut him off. “It’s really nothing spectacular. Well-maybe it is. I was always raised with the standard of ‘no sex until marriage’, and I’ve decided to keep that. So, before I lose my head again…could you please take me home?”
The ride back to Marlo’s was a silent one. And when Elijah walked her to the door, there was no good night kiss, only a “I’ll see you Monday” and a wave as Elijah went back to the car.
As soon as Marlo got inside, she went to her room, fell on her bed and kicked off her shoes. Her last thought before falling asleep was that she had left her purse at Elijah’s.
* *
The next morning, Marlo woke up to her alarm, rolled out of bed and trudged to the shower, grunting a “good morning” to Ronda as she passed her in the hall.
“Don’t forget about our meeting today! We’ve got an hour ‘til we have to be at Allie’s. She wants us to meet her new apprentice Liz and go over the preliminaries for White Christmas.” Ronda said in a chipper manner.
Forty-five minutes later, the girls were speeding up the highway to the agency.
“How was your night last night?” Ronda questioned Marlo, who was driving.
“Well…it was wonderful! But…err, Elijah and I…err, went to third base.” Marlo said and immediately turned up the volume on the stereo.
“What?” Ronda exclaimed. “Why the hell didn’t you wake me up and tell me? You should have!”
“You know…there’s nothing much to tell. We got to third, and stopped. Well, I stopped. I then told him my reason.” Marlo turned into the parking lot of the agency. “How was your night?”
“Weird. I’m still not positive Dom likes me! He is friendly enough, but just doesn’t…react when I make a move.” Ronda shrugged as she got out of the car.
“Maybe this is a good thing. Considering you’re still not over Alex. I heard you on the phone with him this morning. You can’t get involved with Dom if you still have feelings for Alex!”
“I know. But-but there’s something about him. I can’t get him out of my head. Plus he reacts when I make advances.” Ronda winked.
The girls reached Allie’s floor and got off the elevator. Instantly Allie and what appeared to be her new apprentice, greeted them.
“Girls! So-o-o nice to see you again! It’s been what…two weeks?” Allie hugged both the girls and continued, “Meet Liz Ledger. She’ll be following me around for the next few months.”
Liz was tall, lean and blonde. Her blonde hair was long and slightly crimped. She was a stunning beauty…but it wasn’t her looks that people first noticed. She was wearing a tight blouse with a deep V-neck which showed off some of her red, lacy bra. Her black skirt was lacking in the length department.
“She reminds me of Nikki in My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” Marlo whispered to Ronda as they followed Allie to her office.
Ronda stifled a giggle.
Once they were in the office and seated, Ronda got down to brass tax. “So, Allie. Tell us about Viggo.”
“Oh, that.” Allie paused for dramatic effect. “Well, you know love. The usual. Theater, art shows, poetry readings, moonlit walks along the beach followed up with a candle lit dinner at his house…I think you get the picture.”
“Of course! Lot’s of passionate, mind blowing, heart wrentching sex!” Ronda added matter of factly.
“Darling!" Allie tittered. "Well...okay fine, yes! The sex is wonderful. Just don’t let the press know. They’d have a field day!” Allie and the girls laughed and the meeting went on from there.
**
“So don’t forget, Monday morning. Six sharp!” Allie said as the girls walked out of the office. “I’ll be there waiting for you!”
Marlo and Ronda walked to their car and got in, with Ronda at the wheel this time.
“Where to?” Ronda asked.
“Errr…let’s go to Disneyland!” Marlo said, “We’ve got seven hours before we have to be anywhere. You’ll have to pay for me though. I left my purse at Elijah’s last night.”
Ronda grinned in shock at the thought of what her cousin had done last night. She stepped on it and within one hour, both girls were in line for Space Mountain.
Was working, sorry. I'm finally done with it now.
Chapter Eight
The first morning of rehearsals started on the wrong foot the moment Ronda woke up. First off, her alarm clock failed her. Secondly, Marlo was too busy getting herself ready to make sure her cousin was actually awake and functioning.
Luckily, Ronda’s cell phone rang half an hour before the time to leave. Caught off guard, as she was still sleeping, she jumped, and rolled off her bed. Crawling to the foot of the bed, where she had dropped her purse before sleeping after a night of partying, she fished the phone from her purse. Without checking the caller ID, she groaned into it, "you better have a fucking good re--," she paused, holding the phone away from her ear long enough to see the time displayed on the screen, "shit,” she said into the receiving end, “I gotta be up anyway. Who the fuck is this?"
Standing up, she began to undress and choose her outfit for the day. Rifling through her closet, she pulled out her favorite pair of Miss Sixty jeans, and D&G top. These clothes were usually reserved for when Ronda went partying in the high-end part of town, and so they were in the very back of her closet, wrapped in plastic. She also chose her favorite pair of silver, Calvin Klein slip-on sandals.
As she struggled into her bra, a clean pair of knickers, and her top, she heard a familiar chuckle come from the other end of the line, "Oh, oh, oh…I recognize those early morning grunts. Sorry about that, Ronda, I forgot about the time difference. You must be getting dressed now…what are we on?" The voice paused for a second. “Ah…the shirt. By the way, you wouldn’t be wearing that blue, lacy bra that I bought you? It was my favorite you know.”
Ronda rolled her eyes, "hello Alex. What the fuck are you doing calling me? What time difference and what do you mean blue bra? You bought me a stuffed, blue elephant! And no, I am not wearing a blue bra; I’m wearing a--Why in Hell am I telling you all this? Where did you get this number? I changed it after last time.”
Ronda was now laying on her bed, flat on her back getting into her jeans. She was cradling the phone between her shoulder and ear and attempting not to grunt as she pulled up the zipper. The jeans fit well, but Ronda had partied hard last night, and the after effects of the liquor were showing.
"I'm in New York. Look, Ronda, I am really sorry." Came Alex’s voice in a simper.
Ronda sighed, "It's okay…baby. It’s just kinda...you...I….” Ronda felt the familiar feeling of tears welling up behind her eyes. “When you didn’t call, I just assumed. I mean there was no word. And then when you did call, you were drunk and there was loud music in the background…," Not to mention the sound of sucking on your neck, near the phone receiver. Ronda finished that thought in her head.
"I should have called sooner. I know that now. But, Ronnie…I want you back. I need you girl."
Ronda took a deep breath and expelled the thoughts that she had been going over for the past months. "It's over Alex. Has been for, like, six months. You say you need me, but how much longer ‘til the next girl comes along? If I were to take you back, how much longer ‘til you come home drunk and want to-want to….” Ronda’s voice trailed off and she shuddered slightly at the memory of the night Alex had come to her apartment drunk…with a drunken, bedroom agenda on his mind.
Alex sighed. "I’ve changed! I swear. Those other girls, they…they were nothing like you. You and I…we completed each other.”
As soon as he said that, and before Ronda could respond, the sound of feminine giggling came down from his end of the line. Ronda heard a muffled, “Come back to the shower babe. I’ve been reading this month’s 'Cosmo' and have a new trick….”
Ronda sighed heavily. “Fuck it Alex. Fuck it all.” She looked at the clock on her wall and panicked slightly at the time. “You and I are over.” Pushing the end button on the cell she added softly to herself, “forever...no matter how much I care.”
“Marlo!” Ronda yelled out her bedroom door into the hall, “get your sorry ass finished up and let’s get moving! This movie won’t make itself.”
Marlo came out of the bathroom, toothbrush in mouth, mid brush and said, “Relax Ronnie! We’ve got plenty of time.”
Ronda gestured to her cell phone and said, “not according to this. Or the clock in my-Marlo…what in fuck’s name did you do to my clocks?” Ronda glared at her cousin.
“Ronda! There is no need for that talk. And…nothing.” Marlo quickly ducked back into the bathroom.
Ronda made her way into the kitchen and looked at the clock on the stove. The green, digital numbers read 5:00.
“So that’s why my alarm didn’t go off!” Ronda grumbled to herself. “Bitch.”
“I heard that!” Came Marlo’s voice from the bathroom.
The girls got into their car and headed off to the studio.
Ronda stayed silent during the trip to the studio. She was driving, so when the girls pulled up to the security gate, Marlo had to lean over and speak to the guard. Once clearance was granted, the girls parked the car and made their way into the back lot of the studio.
Marlo greeted the producers and introduced herself and Ronda, who remained quiet throughout.
Afterwards, the make-up girls came over and took them to what would be their dressing room. The girls had no need for make-up that day, however because it was only going to be a read through of the script.
After the quick tour, the girls were then ushered into the reading room, which consisted of long folding tables arranged in a square, and chairs set up along them.
Dom and Elijah were already sitting at one of the tables, sipping coffee and eating Danishes.
When they saw Marlo and Ronda, Dom signaled for them. But Ronda had already sat down in a seat across from the boys, so Marlo just waved to Elijah, blew him a kiss and sat next to her.
The director, whose name was Tom Bills, called everyone to attention, gave a little speech, which introduced Marlo and Ronda to the rest of the main cast, and then called the meeting to “action.”
Ronda sat silently in her seat, sipping her herbal tea, only reading when her lines came up.
Dom noticed something was wrong, but couldn’t figure out what it was. During the first break, he sent Elijah over to talk to Marlo and find out what was happening. Elijah walked up to where Marlo was standing in line for the toilets and when he grabbed her hand. “Can we talk for a minute?” He asked. Without waiting for an answer, he pulled Marlo away from the line. “First, I'd like to apologize for the other night. I-I got a little carried away."
"It's okay, Elijah, you didn't know. And it wasn’t just your fault. I should have been more aware of my surroundings." Marlo replied softly and blushed a little.
He nodded slowly, "Thanks. Now…is everything okay with Ronda?"
"Actually…no. I'm pretty sure I heard her on the phone with her ex this morning. It’s very likely that if it was him, she'll be on the emotional side for a few days. The conversation didn’t sound too pleasant."
Elijah nodded in understanding and held Marlo’s hand a little tighter. "So long as she’s going to be alright. It just seems that with her being so quiet, she’s bound to crack soon.”
"Yeah, but don’t worry. It won't happen in public. She's got a hard shell, that one." Marlo said with a distant look in her eyes.
Elijah sighed. "That's a good thing to have in this business. But…only when it comes to this business. Don’t let her close up on the personal level."
“I know how to handle her, Sweet.” Marlo said and leaned in. “Now, may I get back to the loo before the break is up?” Before waiting for an answer, she gave Elijah a kiss on the cheek, let go of his hand, and went back to the line.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After rehearsal, Ronda had some time before departing. Wandered alone around the lot, she found herself a secluded area to sit in peace and to rest.

While she was deep in thought, a voice interrupted. “Is everything all right, Love?"
Ronda looked up slowly. “Oh…hi, Dom.” She said, but didn’t meet his eyes.

"Something got you down, Ronda? You appear to have a little bit of a rain cloud following you today.” Dom sat down next to her. He reached over and placed his hand on her knee. He could feel it trembling.

"Dom.…,” Ronda’s voice trailed off and, bit her bottom lip.

"What is it Ronda?" Dom’s voice came out softly, but strong.

Ronda let the strength of it wash over her and she calmed slightly. She took a deep breath and thought, am I really going to ask this? Shrugging to herself, she decided to do it. "Do you find me attractive?"

"Of course I find you attractive. Very much so in fact." Dom couldn’t believe she was asking him this. She had always seemed so confident in the past and he couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He thought back to what Elijah had told him during the break, but nothing could have prepared him for this.

"Then why won't you kiss me? And why don’t you even touch me? And why did he have to leave me for another girl?"

At that moment, Dom realized she wasn't speaking about him. "Hey." He placed his arm around her shoulders in support. "A man would be stupid to cheat on you." He slowly brought a hand to her cheek and looked deep in her eyes.

"You really think so?" she breathed out, and looked down from his eyes, still not fully convinced.

“Yeah.” He sighed. Lifting her chin, he gently kissed her lips.

Ronda was taken by surprise but instead of pulling away in shock, as Dom had expected, she responded. The kiss was not long, but sweet and passion filled.

Suddenly Dom pulled away, leaving Ronda still wanting more. Looking confused and a little guilty, he stood up and walked away.

Ronda sat in a daze for before getting up to find Marlo. On her way back to the main area, she ran into Elijah.

Stopping her, Elijah said, "Hey, is every thing okay Ronda? Dom left here in a hurry."

Ronda shrugged, still in a daze. "He…he kissed me. And then he…left."

Elijah blinked, "was the kiss a good or bad thing?"

"Oh, it was good… It was very good. Just…he kissed me and left suddenly." Ronda had begun to come out of her daze, but her sentences were still messed up.

"The bet probably didn't help matters..." Elijah mumbled to himself.

"What...bet?" Ronda looked at Elijah.

Elijah took a deep breath. "You see…it's been a while since Dom's had an actual relationship. It’s usually just sex, sex, phone sex and make out sessions with random girls. So…I sort of challenged him to not go jumping into your pants right away.”

Ronda nodded, trying to take it all in. "I guess that's a good thing. At least it's not like my last boyfriend..."

"May I ask what happened?" Elijah asked in a concerned manner.

"Let's just put it this way, ‘Lij…say you're with someone for a little over a year...It's a sweet relationship; they wanted to 'wait for marriage' and you think that's cool. Even though you've already had sex," she paused and took a deep breath. After a moment to collect her-self, she continued. "Not much time goes by before you are sleeping with them. You put all your trust in them, thinking that they’re going to be The One…only to find out they’re a drunk…and not a happy one.” To that, Ronda grimaced. “Then they disappear without a trace for several months. You know the relationship is over, but you can’t give it up. Finally you receive a phone call from them to apologize for not talking to you for so long… and hear in the background that they're in bed with someone else."

Elijah paused to take the grim information in. "Ouch," he finally responded. "I'm really sorry girl."

"Not as sorry as he's going to be." Ronda said and left him standing there to ponder while she went to find Marlo.
