But OF COURSE I would start a thread about my pets. I love em to bits. And I love talking about them, and everyone else's animals...and animals in general. This is a very animal friendly thread (if you hadn't noticed). ;-)


This is a picture of my roomate's cat Milo (the tabby) giving a bath to his little brother, my cat Liam - Liam is also my current avatar (which is good because his face kinda disappears here).


Sneakers...my 8 year old big grumpy girl (who lives at home). She's a complete diva and hates my new cat Liam...but I love her because she is spunky, however she is not a very 'interactive' cat..rather, she is 'ornamental'. ^_^


Ivan...my roomate's Weimaraner - this is an old picture, from the second day we had him. He was only 8 weeks old..he's now a year and a half....still cute, just not nearly as photogenic. Weimaraners are crazy nut ball dogs...one day I'll tell you about the episode of the garden in the living room and the charcoal incident (however, Ivan was not the instigator then).


This is Teddy (and my foot)...the instigator of the charcoal incident. He is our newest addition. Long story. Possibly the sweetest dog on the planet - he and Ivan were instant best buds.

Okay..and just one more (for now) - I promise!


Our ferrets - Norman (the white one) and Dexter (the brown one). Aren't they cute? Only thing that bugs me about them is that they smell like musk...however, they do get frequent baths. Don't worry, they are often out of the cage and roaming around someone's bedroom. Sorry if that makes anyone squeamish! :blink:

Well...I will stop for now. I don't have a picture of our rats scanned...but I think you can imagine them - they are white with red eyes and pink tails. Pretty easy.

OMG! Ivan and the new doggie are so f*cking cute (sorry, I'm and unemployed pet shop mgr...I feel like jumping in the comp and cuddling with all of your babies right now...*squeeeeee!*)

Is your white ferret a champagne (w/ dark eyes,) or an albino? I've got 3 ferrets (had 4, but one of my girls passed away last october :cry: ) My oldest is about 6 yrs old, and the youngest is about 3. How often do you bather them, and what with? Try about once every three weeks or so, with johnson and johnson's. They're dry skinned by nature, so the more you wash them, the more their scent glands (which they still have in the neck region, even if they've been "descented,")are gonna secrete to make up for the lack of moisture. Hope that helps with the smell :yay:

And rats! I have rats, too! Aragorn is black and white, and Merry is albino. I love them, they're so sweet!

Here is my little darling, Willow. I adopted her five years ago from the Humane Society when she was 9 weeks old. Or I should say that she adopted me. She saw me before I saw her. I was looking at another kitten when I felt a tiny paw hitting me on the shoulder, I turned around and saw that adorable face and I knew she was the one I came for. :wub: :love:

The luckiest shot ever! I was fiddling with the camera and caught her in mid-yawn. The quality isn't great, I had to lighten it up so that she could be seen! LOL

My first love, Casey. This is me at 5, with Casey, my first kitty. He was rejected by his mother at birth so my Mum and I raised him ourselves by feeding him baby formula with an eyedropper. He grew up to be the most handsome tomcat on the block. :tsk: (Note the kickass Strawberry Shortcake nightdress! Rawk!!!)

OMG I have a Weimaraner!!!!!!!! Hes 5 now, but he looked exactly like yours the day we had him, hes the best!!! lol. We gave him a bath the other day ^*^ cute!

JB - in truth, the ferrets are my roomates babies...so I'm not in charge of overall care per se - but I think they do get bathed about once a month and Erin (my roomie) uses some sort of baby shampoo (or ferret shampoo). They are very well taken care of, Erin researched them thoroughly before she disobeyed her parents orders and got Norman ten years ago! Dexter is 4. Norman's been under the weather lately...but he has perked up some. Oh..Norman is a champagne.

Kierra - what is your Weim's name? I'm completely sold on the breed...I will eventually get one myself when I have a home.

MorriganAngelus - I LOVE your cat! I have such a thing for black cats. That is one of the reasons why I adopted Liam this summer. I hadn't been planning to get another animal, but I was working in a vet's office and this little stray, smelly kitten came in. He was all spiky and smelled like pee..but he was a beautiful little 8 week old black kitten and I was in love! It was one of the best decisions I have every made. When I was born, my parents already owned a 7 year old black cat who was half Siamese. His name was Midnight (Mickey for short). He was my best pal growing up. So many good memories. He died when I was 12...he was 19 at the time.

Are you in dorm or in an apartment? When I was in first year, I was in a dorm and we were not allowed to have any pet other than a 'non dangerous' fish..ha ha...

So we made sure that the place we got for second year would allow pets. Actually, here it is illegal for someone to not let you sign a lease because you have a pet. But that doesn't matter to me right now, because my roomate and her parents bought our house and so they are my landlords..if you can call them that. lol.

I live on the college dorms ...

and they don't let pets in our rooms ... because if i'd be able to i'll have my turtle here ... or flea... the turtle is lovely ... but flea... god ... he is so like garlfield!

Aurora, is your doggie part Border Collie? Looks like it by his markings. Mine is 1/2 Border Collie and 1/2 Lab, and he is the bestest dog ever! B.C.'s are mega intelligent (Chase even knows his right from his left ^_^ )

Oh, and just because everyone always thinks of "Lassie" when I say border collie, let me clarify: Border Collies are the breed that all of the black and white dogs were in the movie "Babe."

Those are some absolutely beautiful cats Matilda! Wow..that's too bad about Iris...I'm so paranoid about that. Milo and Liam do not go outside at all - we live on a busy intersection and I just don't trust people to be kind to my cats. Especially Liam, as he is black and this past summer some insane kids tortured a black cat - sick :cry: <_< :eek:

Since I was last on this thread, our rats died :cry: one of our ferrets (the champagne one, Norman) died (last spring) :cry: and we got some major additions to our 'zoo'.

Last spring my roomate got a puppy, he is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever named Dylan. He is sooooooo cute. He's now 7 or 8 months old.

Our new roomate (who is from North Carolina) also has a dog, that she adopted last spring. The dog's name is Kansas and she is a retired teaching dog from the vet college. She's a sweetie with one lazy ear! One ear stands up and the other falls flat.

A couple weeks ago we babysat my other roomate's parents' dog (a Jack Russel) and so we took pictures of our 'crazy' weekend of 5 DOGS:

Kansas is the black dog. Maggie is the Jack Russel. Ivan is the gray Weimaraner and Teddy (or Teddy Bear or Tedward as he is so affectionately called) is the blonde dog.
