Interview With Mena

Welcome to Interview With The Author, once again. This time our honoured writer is the wonderful: Mena, well-know in the forums for her fics: White Lies and Wild Nights and Bloom The Groom. And also known (and I say this falling in to the journalists' sins) for her awesome, great, fantastic and inspired dark poetry.

.:In your words, tell us who are you. Who is Mena?

Mena is my inner life becoming real... Im deep persuaded all creative people live a life in their heads and one outside. Mena is the inner me.

.:Describe yourself in 5 words and why

- Creative, cause if I don't write I feel literally sick.
- Impatient, cause I cannot wait.
- Emotional, cause I got easily hurt,
- Not organised, cause I always do things last moment,
- supportive I think... my friends often come before everything, even myself.

.:How much time you have being writing stories?

Well, I dont remember well... I know I started with poetry at the age of six, but stories I dont know... I think Ive always had

.:But what... heartened you to write your stories, the motivation, the things that pull you to write your fics

I think its the need to create something better than reality, not that I don't like my reality... just, I need to speak my mind. Its a urge, stronger than hunger.

.:How many fanfics have you done so far?

Four: Forced To Love You, my first one, that I also finished; Bloom The Groom, a comedy, White Lies and Wild Nights and C.r.i.m.s.o.n, a joint with Ambrosia. Plus, countless shorties.

.:How do you feel about them?

Im quite proud and shy together... I love them all, they are like my babies. But maybe Forced is my favourite coz it was the first, and also White Lies. Im kinda insecure about BtG coz its a comedy and Im not a good clown (laughs).

.:Which one are you most proud of?

Forced to Love You for the feeling in it and coz it was my first, and WLaWN coz lots of my girls are in it and *cough* I enjoy writing it.

.:Do you enjoy writing?

No... I don't enjoy writing. I need it, but sometimes it's bad cause I do it when I should do other things. its my way to feel special.

.:How do you get rid of writer's block? (if ya suffer it)

Uhm... usually it fades away on its own. If it does not, I try to keep in contact with another fellow author and exchange opinions and plot hints. Basically, for me wb means I need just a 'lil of support.

.:What inspires you to write?

Mmm... even the smallest thing. I had the idea of writing Bloom the Groom passing by a jewelry and watching wedding rings.

.:Are there specific genres that capture you?

Well, I feel comfortable with angst, suspence-filled fics. Comedies are not my best, maybe coz english is not my mother language and I cannot put up sharp jokes.

.:What are some great stories you personally recommend others to read from your fellow authors?

Honestly its hard casue some authors are friends of mines and I tend to give them priority, Id be hypocrite not to say it... anyway...

Friends by Ambrosia coz its the sweetest love comedy, and all fics by Jaime girl, White Andie and Rich Kid Blues by Christina. And of course Last Chance on the Stairway by Bloomiecurse.


.:What do you think about joint fics? Are they good? Do you enjoy reading and writing them?

I just started writing one with Ambrosia. Personally I think they are really good, help u to improve your writing and make the fic more interesting... but you must be careful: I mean, there are lots of authors I like but I could not write a joint with em all. U need to find someone who has a close mind and style. Or its like eating ham with chocolate... some things just dont match.


.:Tell us about your friends in this forum?

So many! well, my best are probably Amber, she's nearly my age and we're runnin similar lives... then Chrissy, she's so strong and supportive. Then Jessity, Jaime, Jessicat, the aussie gang. Andie, who's one of the greatest authors... then Sam, Eve, Adri (lol), Kierra, Peiyu and Ursula. The last ones, I don't know em as I wish, but I hope I will in the future. Oh and the spanish gang too (referring to the Latin Girls in the Foreign Creativity Section).

.:Let's talk about White lies and Wild Nights how did you get the idea for it?

Well, from The Italian Job and Ocean's Eleven, and the idea of having tow opposite gangs of people showing their flaws during path... every character of mines has a different evolution.

.:Do you identify with your characters?

To quote an italian film, "don't you know the artist always and only portrays himself"? (Laughs)... all those characters are me and my opposite, melted and fragmented.

.:Is there any specific thing you'd like to write about now?

Maybe, face-to-face showing off dialogues... poems, and songfics.

.:As a writer, do you have something published?

Well, I got a poem and a shortie published once, but got no money for it cause it was "just" a national competition, yet a very tiny one
(The name of the poem is: A.)

Tell us about your projects here in the forum, any upcoming fiction?

No, for the moment I rather concentrate on the ones I have already up... Im not good in writing lots of fics at the same time

Argh tough one! Besides Amber Im already writing with, Andrea, Jessity, Adri and maybe Chrissy and Jaime, but Im not sure cause we have really different styles. And Ursi... but is there someone who wouldn't write with Ursi?

And also, Im still persuaded they made me win coz my poem was sooo freak hat no one understood it and they had no guts to confess it.

here there's the english translation... its litteral and not good, but just to prove me right. Its freak.
