What I like to do is use blinkies that I find! ("google search: blinkies" will get you a ton! do regular search, not image search). Just right click on a fun blinkie and save it!

When you click My Controls it takes you to your controls. Duh. Along the left hand side, there should be a grey panel. One link should say Edit Avatar Settings. Click this!

Now, there will be a place where it displays your current avatar (in your case, none). Then there will be two text boxes. One will tell you to type in the URL of your avatar. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS BOX! Then there will be another text box that says "Upload a new image from your computer" There will be a button next to this that says "Browse". CLICK THIS! Then go through your computer files and find where you saved the blinkie. Click on the file name of the blinkie. Click Open. Click Update Avatar Settings.

And voila! An avatar!

So I am trying to change my avatar to a picture that is only about 20kb and it will not change!! Plus it has made my current avatar all fuzzy. I am so computer challenged....*sigh*.
