Okay! Here's the interview with me and Aurora! I'm so glad that I got the chance to ask her questions! Yippy Skippy Peanut Butter!!! green is me, red is Aurora.
hey there
Okay, hey! I'll just go and grab the stuff I'm supposed to ask you!
whee! i'm soooo honoured!
Okay. Here we go. So, who are you in your own words?
Ah, that's a nice question to start with. A difficult one as well really. ^^ Who am I... Basically, I'm a 19-year-old girl who has a huge soft spot for Orlando, who is terribly complicated, who loves to laugh, write, and sing and who wants to be anything but ordinary. That about sums it up
Who doesn't have a soft spot for him? Now, how long have you been writing?
Well, I've always loved writing, ever since I was little. I never really wrote stories or anything, but I completely loved to write essays or book-reviews and that sort of things for school. As long as there was writing involved, I was happy But regarding fanfiction.. let's see. I wrote my first (terribly badly-written) shortie in December 2002 and in January I started writing All I Ever Dreamt Of... so I've been writing fanfics for over a year now... of which the past 6 months have been the most productive
How many fanfics have you written? Or are writing, or whatever?
Hold on, I'm going to count.
This could be a while.
I got four long stories (all of them not finished yet) at the moment, and I wrote quite a lot of short stories and drabbles as well. So altogether I got about 17 things I think. At the moment I'm concentrating on Shattered, But Not Broken and Be Your Guide, and I got 2 other short stories I'm working on as well. (one of them slashy and smutty ^^)
hehe. Which one of your fics are you the most proud of?
I'm most happy with Shattered at the moment, I believe, because it's completely different from anything I've ever written. It's very angsty, very sad, and most of the things I write are very fluffy. I'm also quite content with Fate of a Dreamer, but unfortunately I never came round to finish that one. I really don't have inspiration for it but I plan on finishing it some day. It's absolutely great to write. And there are also a few shorties I'm quite happy with. But at the moment Shattered is my little baby
How do you feel about the rest of them in general?
There are fics that I can't read without cringing. Yesterday I read the start of All I Ever Dreamt Of again and I just wanted to crawl in a dark corner, hahahah. But yeh, it's nice to see my writing has improved over the months. Apart from maybe All I Ever Dreamt Of, I'm quite happy with it. Not that I think they're fantastic or anything, but it's nice to see yourself grow as an author. Oh God, I sound like my grandmother here... Next question please!
K. You obviously enjoy writing, so I won't ask you if you do. Now, what everyone wants to know the answer to: How do you get rid of writer's block?
Ha! Yes, I've been wondering the same. Mr. Writer's Block seems to be a big fan of me, he plagues me quite frequently I must say. I don't do anything apart from waiting for it to go away, actually. Or I start writing something new until I have inspiration for the thing I was originally working on, which can take weeks and weeks. Seriously, I'm the worst updater in the whole wide world. I really can't write chapter after chapter. Not only don't I always have inspiration, but I also got other things going on in my life apart from writing fanfiction.
I wonder how much money prescription drugs makers would make if they developed a cure!
Hahaha tons of money!
Now, sort of speaking of inspiration, what's yours?
Oh you're asking for my muse now?
Yeah. That old guy.
Well... gee, that's a hard one. Who says he's old? Muses can be very nice, you know. Dark-haired, a captivating pair of eyes, a very muscular, tanned, strong body, extraordinarily soft, smooth... I'm sorry, got a little carried away there
No, but seriously, anything can inspire me. A song, a sudden mental image that appears (which happens far too often. There's nothing as horrible as having visions for your smut story in the middle of a conversation, trust me), a personal experience...
I'm guessing your muse looks an awful lot like Orlando?
You think so? ^^
So, which genres do you find particularly captivating?
to write, you mean?
Read or write. Or both!
Come to think of it, it doesn't even matter if it's reading of writing, because my answer stays the same anyway I think people who know me know that I'm a fluff-girl. I love writing and reading fluffy, romantic, fuzzy stories. But that's probably just to compensate the lack of romance that's going on in my life...
You and me both. *sigh*
And, of course, slash. Half a year ago I was convinced I couldn't write slash, but it appeared that that wasn't quite true, and now I just can't seem to stop anymore! And there are hardly any stories I read that aren't slashy. *sighs* yes, I'm corrupted, I know.
So, who are your friends on the forum?
There are a lot of sweetheartses here on this board, but my number one girl - here and in real life - is of course sammy! She's my best friend and I seriously would be nowhere without her. Love you, sweets
Alright, I'm gonna list a few people here that I get along with, and let's just hope that I forget nobody...
Ryvyan - she's beyond crazy. Totally hilarious, and she managed to surpass me in Orlando-obsessionism. Which isn't a word, but that's beside the point.
Mena - haven't talked to her for weeks, but it appeared we have quite a lot in common! She's a very cool girl, and the best Short Story Writer this board has ever known
Kierra - she's sweet and funny and great to talk to on MSN
Jessy - she's a sweet little girl!
(hold on, i'm not done yet )
Someone's popular!
Ursi - I haven't talked to her for ages either but she's definitely one of the funniest girl alive!
psst.. i'm just listing people i've ever talked to outside the board ahaha
And Laila deserves a place here as well, because she reads every story I post and because she's a fab writer.
Alright, that's it I think. Sorry for the people I forgot, you are all sweeties!
Okay, let's talk about Shattered. Where'd you get the idea for that?
Oh, that's pretty funny actually because at Christmas I went to see RotK and I was in a bit of a haze after it was finished. I felt very weirdish... my thoughts were still in Middle-Earth really... So I was in the car and suddenly this Westlife song was on the radio - Mandy, and then I heard the line "Well you kissed me and stopped me from shaking" and immediately those wonderful images of Viggo comforting Orlando appeared in my head, and I simply couldn't get rid of them. I kept on thinking 'What could be a reason for Orlando to cry?' and many hours of fantasizing later I decided to make a story of it. It really needed to be written, I was driving myself crazy with those visions hahaha. So thank you, Westlife!
Haha. That's cool! My inspirations are always like, "Hmm... let's see how we can twist what already exists."
Hahaha.. yeah I'm glad you asked about the idea for Shattered cause that's probably the only story I can make up an answer for
Okay, still on Shattered, do you find yourself identifying with any of your characters?
Thankfully not! Although I must say that I try to place myself in their position (is this even English?). So basically the way they react is the way I would react. Not always, but most of the time. But no, apart from that I haven't put a lot of myself in this story.
Maybe that's good. With a title like Shattered...
Hahah someone told me today that she thought the title was a bit dodgy. She didn't know I was the one who wrote it in the first place. I seriously couldn't stop laughing.
Is there any specific thing that you'd like to write about now?
Yes, I really want to write a short Dom/Orlando story. I already got the first paragraph but knowing me it'll be finished in about 3 months or so And I also got this idea for another Orlando/oc fic (non-slash for a change) that I got in mind about a year now, but I'm not sure whether I'm ever going to start that. And I *reallY* want to write an Aragorn/Legolas one, but it's quite difficult for me to write about them, since it's got to be quite poetic.
So many ideas, so little time!
So you may have some upcoming fiction in a few months?
Yeh, but only short ones. ^^
So, what's your opinion on joint fics?
The only joint fic I ever read was Trust by holly and wendy and it was great to read, but I could never ever write a joint fic myself. I've tried it a couple of times but it was quite disastrous I really need to do my own things, make my own decision, write the things *I* want to write. It also puts extra pressure on you, I think, so no joint fics for me!
Yeah, it's a lot more fun when you don't have to post every week.
Indeed. Although people still expect at least one chap a week hahah. Ah well, I think the people who read my fics are already used to my not-so-regular updates
This may be a hard question: Who's your favorite author here?
That's a very easy question: Laila. She never ceases to amaze me with her writing and I bet she's getting quite tired from my continuous 'oh-your-writing's-so-brilliant-replies' but seriously man, that girl can write!
I know! And she's not even a native English speaker is she? I could never write that well in German!
No she isn't. If she weren't so nice I would have hated her for it
Close second is Ursi, she uses such brilliant descriptions that I'm always in awe for at least an hour after reading something by her ^^
Who's your favorite author outside of the forum? Like a book-writing author.
Stephen King. He's a God, seriously. His plots are beyond amazing and his writing style is something to be very, very, very x 100 jealous about. I can recommend every single book of his. Come to think of it, it's been far too long since I read a Stephen King-book!

Aww cute interview hun! It was lovely of you to list me as your friend *mwah* and I just finished reading "secret window, secret garden" (the first of Stephen King's novellas I have read) and my mouth is still hanging open, so I agree with you on that. I'm off to buy Carrie and The Green Mile soon!
Awesome interview Aurora!
I always learn something new when I read these!

:lmao:
Oh girl, trust me, even if you liked slash you wouldn't want to read this. I let Orlando suffer so much that I feel increasingly guilty about it hahah.
Thanks, everyone, for the comments ^_^
Interviews are FUN!
Great interview to read.
It's so nice to get to know more about you Aurora.
Hardly know anything about you...I realised that when I was reading this interview.
Keep up the good work.
I love, Be your guide!!
Hugs
