Nah, its supposed to be a glimpse of what its doing to him, cut from the scene where Faramir has the ring on his sword(where he runs to the wall, he was going to look back). I heard it might be put back in one of the rumoured extended extended cuts.

This is creepy. Made me shudder when I saw it n the DVD's. Why do you think they did his eyes so dark though? Gollum's arn't like that....
Anyway, I think they should have left this in the movie, show what Frodo would have become. I can understand why they didn't, but it should have been a deleted scene or somehting.
