The Voice Within
A small girl huddled in a corner, hugging her knees to her small body. Tears formed great pools behind her eyes, but she wouldn't let them fall. He hated when she cried. It would just make him yell more. Make him hit harder. She sat like a stone, and a torrent of words flowed around her, insulting her and assulting her. Forcefully, she was pulled up by her wrist, and she stood still as she endured his punches and slaps. More tears welled up, but she blinked them back, determind not to show weakness. Finally, his rage ended, and he dropped her young frame on the hard woodenfloor. As soon as she knew he was in his room, asleep in drunkeness, she fled the house. Running as fast as she could, she came to a park. Tears were streaming down her face, and she ran as fast as her young legs ould carry her. She sat slumped against a tree, once again hugging her knew to her and rocking back and forth, sobs racking her body. But she was safe, away from the man that called himself her father.
Young girl, don't cry
I'll be right here when your world starts to fall
Young girl, it's all right
Your tears will dry, you'll soon be free to fly
The seven year old was oblivious of the footsteps aproaching her, and not until she felt a hand on her arm did she look up, into eyes of sparkling sapphire blue. The young boy spoke no words, none were needed. His eyes said it all. The sobbing ebbed, and they sat there, two children, oblivious to the beautiful picture they made.
"Don't cry. It'll make your eyes sore." The boy nodded assertively, and the girl laughed in between her tears. He knew what was wrong, saw the evidence all over her battered body. With wisdom beyond his 8 years, he took her hand, and said to her, "It'll be alright. One day you'll be free." She saw the earnestnes in his eyes, and took comfort in his words. "Will you come again?" she asked her companion.
"Every day until the sun stops shining and the world turns to dust."
When you're safe inside your room you tend to dream
Of a place where nothing's harder than it seems
No one ever wants or bothers to explain
Of the heartache life can bring and what it means
Years passed, slowly, like wet sand through the hands of time. She endured the pain, held back the tears. Every day, after the rivers of anger and hate left their mark on her, she ran to the park, and the weeping willow by the lake. Her blue-eyed friend was there, waiting for her. Rain or shine, he came. And they spent hours in laughter and in silence, hours when she was able to forget her troubles.
"I have to go away," he said, one day, while they paddled their feet in the lake. She looked at him, alarmed.
"Why?"
"Because." It was the only answer he would give.
"What am I going to do without you?" He gazed straight ahead of him, unseeing. Then he began to sing. His voice was young and beautiful, and it rang out in the beauty of their surroundings. He told her not to worry, he would always look out for her, but that she was strong, indestructible, and that no one could conquer her.
When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
If you will learn to begin
To trust the voice within
For 2 years, she dealt with the pain and anger. She had friends for once, good friends, and spent as much time as possible away from home. She shrugged off enquireys of her bruises and cuts, and covered up as much as she could. She passively endured the beatings, thinking only of her blue-eyed friend, how proud he would be.
At 15, she was a tall, beautiful girl, marred only by the bruises and cuts sustained. Her father found new interest in her, throwing her on his bed and taking away from her all she had left. Silent tears flowed down her cheeks through closed eyes as she tried to deal with this new pain. But she could not. As he lay sleeping, she ran out of the house, seeking paradise again. She hid once again, under the willow tree, and cried for her lost beauty, innocence, and childhood. And once again, she was oblivious to the footsteps, only looking up as a hand touched her arm, and a voice sang to her, young, beautiful, and longed for.
Young girl, don't hide
You'll never change if you just run away
Young girl, just hold tight
And soon you're gonna see your brighter day
The blue eyes spoke to her again of better days and strength. She rested in his arms, her paradise once again found. And again, whenever she needed, he was there with a warm hug, comforting words, and his beautiful blue eyes, and they sat for long hours in the park.
And then, came the time for him to leave her again. He sang again, giving her new words of courage, telling her that she was all she needed, strength could be found within her soul.
Now in a world where innocence is quickly claimed
It's so hard to stand your ground when you're so afraid
No one reaches out a hand for you to hold
When you're lost outside look inside to your soul
When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
If you will learn to begin
To trust the voice within
Life is a journey
It can take you anywhere you choose to go
As long as you're learning
You'll find all you'll ever need to know
She parted from him, tears in her eyes, of happiness and new-found courage. She went through school, ever enduring his beatings and lustful demands. She thought of the words that were spoken to her, and of the blue eyes that had pierced her soul. When she was greatly troubled, she would go again to the park, and the willow tree would sing to her, words that were not heard but always implied.
You'll make it
You'll make it
Just don't go forsaking yourself
No one can stop you
You know that I'm talking to you
She would walk along the bank of the crystal blue lake, reminded of the blue eyes that had come to her in need. And she would smile, and go back to her life of pain and hurt. She always remembered the song that had saved her from darkness, and though she longed to see those blue eyes once again, she knew they were looking over her, and the willow branches always sang his song to her.
When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
If you will learn to begin
To trust the voice within
Time passed, and as he did, he saw again huddled in a corner, no longer a girl, but a woman. Her face had become full again, and her skin unblemished. She had been happy, her father long forgotten. She had been a happy wife, and a child was on the way. But once again she found herself in a corner, listening to words of wrath and sustaining beatings of anger. Her love kept her by his side, through the bruises, cuts, and rape. All this she could stand, she was not alone. But when her baby left her, as she was thrown roughly against a wall, she felt the need to flee. She ran, bleeding, back to her tree by the lake.
Young girl don't cry
I'll be right here when your world starts to fall...
With tears in his eyes, he watched her as she came running towards him. He took her in his arms, and cried with her. And then he took her hand, and lead her away from this world, to his home, where she would never feel pain again, and would live with him underneath the willow trees and by the lakes of crystal blue. And she will walk through heaven with her blue eyed angel until the sun stops shining and the earth turns to dust.

OMG. I'm going to be completely honest and tell you that that was beautiful. He was like her Guardian angel, her saviour. I love how you put the words together. You are showing more and more talent with each piece of writing you produce hun. Keep it up!

Alright, so I felt an urgent need to read some new stuff by you!
And since you're away (I miss you!) and consequently there's not any actual new stuff by you, I looked for something I hadn't read (and it wasn't easy really)
But god, this is so beautiful!
It was so great...
As always, I'm in lack of words. It's not that your story made me more stupid, but I really don't have the vocabulary.
There might not even be it.
Anyways, I absolutely adored this story.
You should write more! LOL! :P
