Title: Rotk (spoilerish)
Description: Don't click unless...
Ryvyan - December 17, 2003 05:39 PM (GMT)
Oh my God.
I cried the whole movie at the marathon. Tired as I was after 8 hours at it, I was at full attention during the movie...
Cried when the song started, cried when Merry was sending Pippin off, cried when Sam cried...
And the credits... :cry2:
Margriet - December 17, 2003 06:40 PM (GMT)
I cried non-stop. Literally. My eyes were red and swollen when I got out of the theatre. Heh.
I could worship PJ right now.
Frodo Lives! - December 17, 2003 10:03 PM (GMT)
Yay! Peiyu started a thread about the actual movie!
Wasn't Pippin's song just the most saddest thing? I was crying all the time too.
Actually, so was Pippin, almost the whole movie. I think that made me want to cry even more. Billy Boyd makes one sexy, adorable man when he cries! You just want to be there to comfort him... And he did it so often - he was so sad. :(
Couldn't you just feel Sam's pain when Frodo told him to go home? OMG. I so wanted to throttle Gollum right there!
What the heck was with Denethor and being a flying human fireball? That was a bit over-the-top, I thought.
Anyway, I agree with you Peiyu! Totally awake once ROTK started! Where di you see it? I'm in Arizona.
Ambrosia - December 18, 2003 12:31 AM (GMT)
Oh! This movie was absolute perfection! I saw it at midnight and was completely caught up in it. Billy had such an amazing performance in it!!! I loved him so much.
Okay, spoilerish:
The part where Aragorn charges forward, and Merry and Pippin are the first two to run after him to fight........AHHHH that was so cute!!!
And the part that makes me cry the most......Aragorn telling the hobbits that "they bow to no one"
Oh, Peter Jackson better win the Oscar!!!
Elijahfan14 - December 18, 2003 12:36 PM (GMT)
Ahhhhh!!! I LOVED IT!
There was only one part that made me cry.
It was when Frodo was saying goodbye to all the hobbits when leaving to go on the ship at the end. Oh I lost it then. Then, watching him leave with Gandalf! I cried some more!
On a good note, I loved the part when Legolas takes down that oliphant and then smirks (in a good way) at Gimli after. Heehee... That was fun.

Ryvyan - December 18, 2003 05:58 PM (GMT)
Heh at Singapore... They have it here too, bloody good response if you ask me!
Anyway, I started to REALLY cry when Merry gave Pippin the weed he kept when Pippin was about to ride to Gondor with Gandalf and Pippin asked about when they are going to meet. The ultimate was when Merry ran all the way up the guard tower to look at them go into the distance... Was :cry2: at that moment...
Watched it the second time today... Cried at everything, including credits... AGAIN.
Elle<3 - December 18, 2003 07:57 PM (GMT)
i saw the movie for the second time last night.
And when Frodo looks back at the end..
don't you just fall in love with im all over again yet your in tears and you can't believe it over and that he leaving even though hes happier this way. His smile captivates you and its only you and him in the room.
It is such a beautiful movie.
it deserves every oscar in the ceremony
Kaylee Ann - December 18, 2003 10:27 PM (GMT)
I have to admit that I remained teary-eyed throughout the movie... Some of those events in the movie that made me cry are as follows (spoilers):
Arwen turning back from the path to the Grey Havens after she sees a vision of Viggo and her son, Pippin being forced to leave Merry, Sam just in general - everything about him in that movie made me teary-eyed, Pippin singing while Faramir and his army rode to Osgiliath and certain death, everyone of Gondor bowing to the four hobbits at the end of Aragorn's corronation, and when Frodo and Sam are on the mountainside of Mt. Doom and collapse - Frodo starts to drag himself to the top, then Sam--my dear Sam--says: "I may not be able to carry The Ring, but that doesn't mean I can't carry you!" And when Faramir asked his father(Denethor)if he would have rathered he had died instead of Boromir, and Denethor said yes... That was so sad.
There are so many other touching moments as well... Everything about Frodo and Sam was just heartbreaking. This movie will definitely remain one of my favorites.
Elle<3 - December 19, 2003 01:21 AM (GMT)
It was just a womderful movie.
Underscrbable amazing moment after another.
~*Opal_Imp*~ - December 19, 2003 02:22 AM (GMT)
I know! I agree with all of the above. I felt like a big baby, I NEVER cry in the movie theaters! The only other time I'e ever cried at a movie theater was the the end of TTT, at Sam's speech. But I cried like 5 times in this movie. I just got misty eyed through most of it, but when Sam started crying... that got me. I wanted to comfort him and beat Gollum. And when Pippin sang... ^___^ Sad, but ssooo beautiful. And when Sam carried Frodo... And yeah, when Frodo was leaving... woo... But, of course, not all of it was sad.

"That still only counts as one!" Hehe, Gimli's cool. XD And when they get back to the Green Dragon, when Sam goes over to Rosie, the looks on the other three's faces. Priceless! (Don't you just love Sam?? And everyone else in the movie?!?! )
Did anybody applaud at the theaters you guys went to? They did at mine, like 5 times! When Pippin jumped into the fire to save Faramir and Denethor turned into the big flying-flaming-steward-of-doom. (I was a mixture of  and  ) And um... When Aragorn charged into battle :ara2:, and when everyone bowed to the hobbits (one of my favorite parts). The part where Eowyn pulls of the helmet and yells "I am no man!" and kills the witch-king got the biggest reaction though... Then at the end, everyone in the theater (including myself) burst into applauds and cheers and everything, and a girl at the front was waving her toy sting (complete with sword clangy noises). It was nuts.
I can easily say that was the best movie in the entire world. :love1: :kick: It may be over, but wow, what a way to end it!
.JuLEs. - December 19, 2003 02:43 AM (GMT)
Ooh, yeah! People were cheering and laughing and applauding allll the time. It got on my nerves after a while, but I can understand why. I'm just not the applausy during the movie kinda person.
Kaylee Ann - December 19, 2003 02:56 AM (GMT)
Everyone in my theatre sure cheered... We also had some obnoxious know-it-alls who were laughing at some of the utterly sad parts... I wanted to punch them. But either than that, it was such an up-lifting experience. :)
~*Opal_Imp*~ - December 19, 2003 02:58 AM (GMT)
I know what you mean. I only applauded at the end. This girl in front of me kept saying "Aw!" like... CONSTANTLY. Like 20 times. THAT was annoying... That and people applauding at akward moments. ^^;
Kaylee Ann - December 19, 2003 03:03 AM (GMT)
I also have to add this... I'm not a huge Orlando fan, but when he came through the door to see how Frodo was doing with everyone else, he was breathtaking in his powder blue outfit..oh...my...god. My mom and my friend's mom were even gasping: "Wow..." Lol
.JuLEs. - December 19, 2003 03:05 AM (GMT)
Yeah, people laugh at the strangest times.
At the beginning with Smeagol as a hobbit, this lady behind me after the scene was long gone said, "Ooooh, I get it! That was like, Gollum, when he was like, little and stuff!"

~*Opal_Imp*~ - December 19, 2003 03:32 AM (GMT)
I have to agree on Orlando. But I think they're all adorable. XD
Lol!! Poor old lady, but yeah, in the past, I've had to explain the movies to a friend of mine as we're watching them. She doesn't really understand. ^^;
But yeah, Smeagol was really creepy, no? (Sam, Frodo, Merry, and Pippin are much much cuter ^^; ) And he acctually had that voice. X.X And he was really really creepy when he was halfway between Smeagol and Gollum. I think he looks better as gollum than the halfway between stage. He kinda freaked me out. and eating the raw fish... iiccckkyyy... blah. ^^;
Kaylee Ann - December 19, 2003 04:30 AM (GMT)
Yeah... I really think that they could have down without the upclose of Gollum eating that raw fish.. I was like "Hmm, they start with a big worm in my face, now it's fish guts -- woo-woo..."
Ryvyan - December 19, 2003 12:47 PM (GMT)
For me, the ending where Legolas walked through the door to Frodo and at Aragorn's crowning only serves as a brightening thing (because he's fair). Nahh, don't really like him...
~*Opal_Imp*~ - December 19, 2003 04:23 PM (GMT)
Yeah. Worms, then fish guts. At least they didn't show him putting it on the hook. Icky. Like when it showed the worm, a whole bunch of people were like "Ew!". Then when he bit the fish open, pretty much everyone was silentlygrossed otu, 'cept this one girl, who made this high pitched squeek type noise that sounded like she *might* have been saying "ew"... I would've laughed if I wasn't as grossed out as everyone else...
Yeah, like everyone is like "YAY! Legolas! Lets go see LOTR because HE'S in it!" Personally, I think the hobbits are much more attractive. Orlando Bloom looks better as a pirate than and elf. *nods* Blonde hair and elfishness don't suit him so well. I DID think we looked good in that scene, but I thought some of the others looked better. XD

I definitely think that the hobbits are much more attractive as well; however, like some people who will go for just Orlando and so on, I don't just go for a certain character- I just love these films so much so I just go for the movie alone and that's that. :)
I agree that he looks better as a pirate with his natural puppy-dog brown eyes. Billy Boyd, I must say, looked very stunning in his Gondor outfit. And Aragorn singing at the end after being crowned... *faints*
~*Opal_Imp*~ - December 19, 2003 11:08 PM (GMT)
Yeah. No way I'm going to a movie just because it has a hot guy (or hot guys) in it. I'm cheap as anything, so I'm SO not paying $8.50 for a movie I don't really want to see.
And yes, I agree with those points. But surely you can't forget Pippin singing! *squee* I just love all the hobbits to bits, and Aragorn too. Then again, I love EVERYONE in LOTR!
Kaylee Ann - December 20, 2003 06:06 AM (GMT)
And whoever didn't cry when Frodo told Sam to go home... what's wrong with you?! :P
~*Opal_Imp*~ - December 20, 2003 06:50 AM (GMT)
I second that! If you didn't get at least mist eyed or sniffly, you need your tear ducks checked fer sure! ^^;
Ryvyan - December 20, 2003 01:51 PM (GMT)
Guh, I cried hardest there... Going to watch it for the third time soon... I don't think my tears would be any lesser than the previous two viewings

| Lol!! Poor old lady, |
She wasn't even old! *sigh* I know because I looked back and gave her the if-you-keep-that-up-throughout-this-movie-i'll-kill-you look. You know the kind.
I completely agree with the going for one person thing. I am not the richest of people, so I'd never go for one person. And for LOTR, that was for the whole, spectacular thing.
Agreeing again... the saddest part for me was when Frodo told Sam to go home as well.
Elle<3 - December 20, 2003 07:00 PM (GMT)
there were so many tearjerkers..
but i definetley agree that, frodo telling sam to go home got me the most..
Oh such an amazing movie.. i need to see it AGAIN!!

well,....sorry girls, but i didnt cry...a couple of happy tears...that's all
*dodges evil looks thrown at her*
is that i saw it today and wth my parents....so i couldnt just sit there and cry...but dont worry, i will go to see it again so i will probably cry then...
I LOVED THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay:  :lalala: :king: ;)2
~Jewelz~ - January 2, 2004 04:09 AM (GMT)
i was definatly snivling throughout the majority of the movie, though too much in awe while Pip (Billy!) was singing to cry. oh! the part where pip's talking to merry before he and gandalf leave, the "I don't know pip.." "Merry? MERRY!??", yea that sent me into tears all three (yes three) times i've seen it. and please tell me i'm not the only one who burst into happy tears in the scene where Sam and Rosie get married :cry1: . i found the part on the soundtrack, and it alone makes me cry lol (song #l7, around 9min and 15 or 20 second btw lol).
the first time i saw it, i went with my friend sarah, who fell asleep during FotR and was... otherwise engaged during TT (don't ask). now now, let's remind ourselves not to hate her for such actions (*mumbles* traitor.. lol) anywho, i swear, every five second during RotK she was like "AWW!!!" or "KILL HIM!!" (refering to Gollum of course) it was hilarious, though i kept having to shush her, *laughs*
hmm matinees (before 6pm) here only cost $6, but i swear, it's gone up at least $1.25 over the past couple of years. therefore, i was totally going for the story (which i finished reading some time during the summer). though i absolutly ADORE every one of the hobbits, and Viggos awsome too (i like the way he runs, don't ask me why lol *shrugs*) Orli however... eh, okay, i'm sorry, but at the end when he showed up i was like "OMG! he's wearing a SKIRT!" :lmao: heh heh, i mean, it's a tunic, duh, but my friend (who's got a major crush on Orli) was like "It IS! AGH!!" and then there was the *cough* tiara thing before Arwen shows up  *shakes head* he's DEFINATLY a better pirate than elf, too femmie, almost creepy, yet oddly amusing
and am i the only one who was majorly annoyed by the lack of ANYTHING about the house of healing, eowyn and farimir's romance, OR the entire "scouring of the shire"?! i mean; AGHHH!!! whoopi, eowyn and farimir are standing next to eachother *sarcastic gasp* big whoopi, grrr...
heh, wow, big time rambling on my part eh heh. i suppose i'mdone then; for now bwah haha (jk jk)...
:eowyn: :faramir: ...AWWWW
~*Opal_Imp*~ - January 2, 2004 09:30 AM (GMT)
Yeah. I agree on much of that. I was more sniffy combined with "oohhh....." when Pip sang. And where Sam and Rosie get married? No tears, but big grin and I was like. "YAY!!" And yeah, a friend of mine (who is like... Lord of The Rings razy, like most of my friends ^_^) got all scared when the Shelob part came up, when she's right above Frodo. She kept quaking, squeeking, and hiding her eyes. My friend Tyler had to continually pat her leg and otherwise sooth her. Heh. And the girl a few seats away from me, when it showed Shelob was liek "ACK! Jesus! Oh my holy Jesus!!" It was funny...
Yeah, matinee's here are about $6.50, after that is's $7.50. And I've seen it 3 times, too.
And YES that annoyed me too! MAJORLY! I mean, I loved LOVED the movie, and that is my only thing. Extended DVD, maybe? (oh yeah, definatly getting THAT when it comes out.) I mean, I was annoyed with hem taking all the Treebeard scenes out in TTT, and they were in the extended DVD, so maybe. Gives us somethign to look forward to, though, right?
Oh, and feel free to ramble. Rambling is fun. :yay:
~Jewelz~ - January 2, 2004 08:42 PM (GMT)
i like your avatar btw "opal_imp"
yea, my mother refuses to buy the dvds *fumes* "they're too dark" she says (for a complete rambling about that, go to my xanga site lol, then again, maybe you don't want that heh) yea, my mother's well... let's not go there. but now i'll just have to scrape up enough $$ to buy them all, then they'll be MINE!! ALL MINE!! bwah hahahaha
...heh
Frodo Lives! - January 5, 2004 03:41 AM (GMT)
Hey Jewelz, I'm with you about the missing parts.
I know the Houses of Healing will be in the extended (I have a photo guide and it shows Aragorn healing Eowyn, so at least some of it will be there). So, there is hope they will show the relationship start between faramir and Eowyn. (I mean, if you haven't read the books, how confusing was that?)
I've also seen several interviews with Peter Jackson and he's said the scouring of the Shire was "boring and had no impact on the story". Are you kidding??? It has SUCH an impact! But, alas, it was not there...
I love reading everyone's comments -- and I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried throughout the whole thing. :cry2: I've seen it two more times - I was better the third time.
And, a bit of trivia -- who wrote the song that Pippin sang to Denethor?
*
*
*
Billy Boyd himself! :yay:
~Jewelz~ - January 5, 2004 05:23 AM (GMT)
really??
*mumbles* dang him grrrr
lol jp
~*Opal_Imp*~ - January 5, 2004 08:13 AM (GMT)
Boring? Had no IMPACT? Rawr. I mean, to me, it did kind of seem separate from everything else, almost an Epilogue type thing, I guess, but it most certainly had an impact! The houses of healing part may be in the extended version, but I heard somewhere that the scouring of the Shire isn't. (I have NO idea where I heard this - my memory is terrible. It may be totally unreliable, I dunno, can't remember.) I heard/read/whatever that they sort of came up with their own end for Sauruman. It was in one review I read that the only places the movies go wrong are where they try to improve on the books. I agree. ( I mean, come on, in TTT, they were gonna have Arwen at the battle of Helm's Deep going all Arwen-warrior-princess on some Orcs' asses. Um... right...) So... yeah...
As for the houses of healing part, it's good they're gonna have more of that (correction - going to have it at all) in the extended DVD. A friend of mine (who hasn't read the books) was like "Don't they ever really tell what happened to Eowyn?" (Or, more accuratly "That girl - no, not that one, the blonde one.") I had to explain to her that she ended up with Faramir. One shot where they glance at each other just isn't sufficient, I think, to explain it to those who haven't read the books. She also didn't understand why Merry was clutching his hand after he stabbed the Witch-king. (She was busy, too, giggling at the fact the witch-king dying sounds like "a balloon deflating") I don't think it really explains that well enough, either.. I mean, a lot of people (myself included) understand from reading the books, so we just know, but her asking questions made me realize that they don't make some things very clear... (Then again, she asked stupid questions, too... "Does she end up with him?" "That's Eomer..." "I know." "He's her brother." "I knew that." "She doesn't end up with her brother." "Duh." "Then why'd you ask?" "I dunno. Forgot, I guess.... They all look the same!")
Wow, listening to me rant about all of that might make a person wonder why I've seen it 4 times, eh? Heh, I still loved it. Those were just the points I got aggitated on. Those and where the horses went.
(They ride up to the black gates, call out the forces of Mordor, and ride back. But right before the charge, the horses are gone, as are the tracks they made. Where'd the horses ggoooo? There's also a case of disappearing horses in FOTR. They all dive under bushes and rock over hangs to hide from spies... Did anyone think to hide Bill the pony? If so, where? Because he seems to have magically disappeared... ...I'll stop being annoying now ^^;)
Did Billy really write that song? Oh! Adorable! *hugs him to death* I love it!!! ^____^
Oh, before I forget - Heh! Thanks Jewelz. I made it myself! *so proud* Mwaha. Geeks are adorable. (or should I say adorkable?)
Oh, by the way, you can just call me Cheryl, if ya want. ^_^
~Jewelz~ - January 5, 2004 11:59 PM (GMT)
*laughs* hmm, i know, trying to explain LotR to someone who never read the books is both amusing and very much annoying. bc i find myself going "I'm so mad that they didn't show that the blond chick and that one guy that almost got burnt get married AGGH!" JUST so other people know who i'm talking about. then i get together with my frister alicia and we start babbling about what part of the soundtrack it is when pippin is doing the whole "Merry? MERRY?!" thing and her sister (licia's) is looking at my like i've grown a second head (*coughs* it's song #2 at 50 sec, or a bit b4, btw lol). and telling someone that you got bored and wrote song lyrics in elvish? pfft, you might as well HAVE a second head! (note: i don't actually know elvish, cept for "Amin mella lle." which i think means "go kiss an orc"; licia made me a key, cause she had the font. and it amuses her, so i wrote in it *shrugs*)
Cheryl (yes?); you've seen it FOUR times?? gah, you punk (jp jp) i've seen it 3 times, but i mustn't let the hobbit (licia lol) win and "there are NO ties in this competition!" *coughs* so i'll probably end up either seeing it again with a friend of mine. my friend Bri and her bf Josh (who happens to be one of my best friends but *cough* nevermind that) are seeing it tomorrow, but bri shot me one of her "and who said you were invited" looks when i said i wanted to go. so yea
. ..man oh man do i sound like a freak *laughs* oh well, i am one anyway! bwah ha
jp jp... ;-)
~*Opal_Imp*~ - January 6, 2004 03:49 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I know all about that. We were having a discussion about Karl Urban, right? And whether he was hot ot not. (She says he looks like an American with Chinese eyes. *shrugs* Whatever.) And it ent something like this - "What?? Eomer is hot!" "Wait- who's Eomer?" "He's who we were just talking about!" "Who were we talking about? Him?" "No, that's Aragorn." "Oh, I knew that... But Eo-person is the bearded one, right?" ".... They're all beareded." "Good point... What were we talking about??"
Yeah, when we watch LOTR... I'm caught bwtween amused an annoyed. Oh, and what's really fun? Try watching LOTR with your very curious 7-year-old nephew. Better yet! Try watching TTT with your very curious 7-year-old nephew who has never seen FOTR! (My brother was like "I don't have FOTR - and someone has to stay in here to switch the discs for him!") Fuuuunnnn... believe me...
But yeah, I get those looks liek I must've grown a second head. Can't say I've written in Elvish (though now, I might want to ^_^) but I have tried to explain some of the stuff from the Appendixes to non-book people. Woo, yeah.
And yes, I am a terrible punk, aren't I? Mwaha. Cheryl the Punk. Heh, nah. You should go se it again *nods*. So you can beat your friends (currently, I'm winning in my group. ... I am a punk, aren't I?). Hah, my poor brother hasn't seen it once. He, his wife, and my nephew went, and a lady spilled like a gallon of coke on his wife, so they had to leave. ^^; I got the same "Who-said-you-were-invited" thing from a friend of mine, too. Blah, never even met his girlfriend! I think she's imaginary... :lalala:
Oh, and worry not, amigo, freaks are the best people! (I should know - I'm one! )
Ryvyan - January 6, 2004 03:12 PM (GMT)
*cough*5 times, 6 tomorrow*cough*
I think Scouring would be boring for those who do not like the hobbits (they're insane!), especially those who do not read the books. One of my friends was already complaining about how the story never seems to end at the current pace!
It's rumoured the extended is gonna be 5 hours long, and I saw a picture whereby Aragorn was sitting by Faramir's bed and holding his hand over his forehead... Gee...
And my friend got mixed up between Eomer and Faramir (which I think is ridiculous :P ), and the most common question has to be: "Why did Frodo sail away???"
I don't really like the fact that Merry was at the final battle... *shrugs*
~*Opal_Imp*~ - January 6, 2004 09:17 PM (GMT)
^-^() You win.
I suppose you're right there... (Though, I agree, who wouldn't like the hobbits? Insane people...) Yeah, I've stuff like "These movies are so long, by the time I get to the end of one, I forgot what happened at the beginning!"
Yeah, I figured they probably filmed that and cut it, because besides the scouring, that's one of the biggest things they missed...
Yeah. "Where's he going? Why is he sailing away? Is he dying? Isn't anyone else going? Why does he get to go, and no one else does?"
M,, Yeah, though I do like the part where Aragorn chaarges forward, and Merry and Pippin follow right behind him...
Frodo Lives! - January 6, 2004 10:41 PM (GMT)
Cheryl, yes you did read that the scouring was never filmed :( Too bad. And you know, a lot of people I know get confused between Eomer and Faramir. Interesting. I've had the same conversations with people to explain why things happened in the movie without havng the knowledge of the books. But I do think it would be impossible to include everything. Overall, he did a pretty good job, we have to admit. :surrender:
I've seen it three times so far -- only one more to catch up with you!
~Jewelz~ - January 6, 2004 11:48 PM (GMT)
they never even FILMED the scouring of the shire? *gives them an evil look* bums! lol I think we should get all the hobbites together and film it ourselves! mwah ha *grins* lol jp
 SIX times??? :cry2: gah!
yea, my friend and his gf (heh, not my friend and her bf nemore, i swear i might just beat her, i can't stand her anymore!!!... *coughs* long story...) are probably gonna be at the movie's downtown soon (*glares at pics of them on wall*). and HE actually called MY cell to talk to HER! guh, she needs her own stinking phone *fumes*
...sorry heh
Ryvyan; when you were talking about Merry being in the last battle; did you mean the one where Eowyn kills the ring wraith witch king whatever guy (sorry, don't feel like looking it up lol) or the LAST last battle where they were all there? bc, correct me if i'm wrong, but Merry was in the battle near Minas Tirith in the books right? and that last battle; i don't remember reading that...but i could be very wrong. i was iming josh while i read that part heh
~*Opal_Imp*~ - January 7, 2004 12:00 AM (GMT)
*sighs* Oh well... At least the Houses of Healing part'll be in there, right? That's good... True, though, that he couldn't include *everything* and that he probably did the best job anyone could've done... And how does someone get Faramir confused with Eomer? They don't looks or soud the same, and they're in totally different places with totally different roles... Odd. ^-^()
Well, I give up at four, I think. I doubt I'll get to go to the theater anymore, anyway... Besides...
*cough*5 times, 6 tomorrow*cough*
We've already been beaten. :cry2: Heh, just playing, congrats. ^_^
