He takes out a packet of cigarettes from his pocket and lights up one.
He puffs out smike, plopping on his chair again.
I cannot help but smiling and he glares at me.
- What?- he asks rudely.
I scroll my head.
- You are not supposed to smoke are you?-
He gulps lowering his eyes. In that very moment one of the two doors in front of us opens up and a man comes out.
- Number 139!- he calls smiling. A young blonde woman gets up from a chair and enters the room.
He sighs.
- I got number 144!- he utters.
- Patience should be one of your deals...- I cannot help but mocking him and he turns angry to stare at me.
- And drilling strangers should be one of yours!- he hisses.
I nod proudly.
The second door opens up.
- Number 82!- A man calls and someone goes in.
The young man stares at me.
- You are definitely less than us!- he whispers.
- Cause we work better.-I shrug, letting my glance scanning the huge waiting room. In front of us, a red door and a white one. Of course, he's standing in line for the white door, and I'm on the other side.
I look at him better.
- I've seen you somewhere!- I say after a couple of minutes. He blushes.
- I'm an actor...- he whispers, than his eyes land on me.
- What about you girl? What do you do?-
- I'm just an ordinary girl...- I smirk. - I prefer not to be noticed, you know.-
He nods.
- Fame can be so annoying sometimes! But I just do what I'm supposed to do: they told me to be an actor, and so I do.-
In that moment an old man sitting close to him leans in to whisper in his ear.
- Don't talk to that red head! She's standing in line for the red door! These check-up are serious things, you should not spend your time talking to those... beings!-
He rolls his baby blue eyes.
- There's no law that prevents us from talking to each other. We have a check up every ten years... you can bet that this lovely young woman here will forget about me in half this time!-
I smile sweetly.
- Do you know why we have these check-up? I mean, all those shrinks asking you how do you feel and stuff...- he breathes. - Don't you find them useless?-
I scroll my head.
- With these check-up they make sure no one of you will join my side...- my eyes shine. - ...and, of course, the other way around!-
He gulps.
- Why should I want to join you?- he asks.
I smile again.
- Cause it's much more fun baby.- I whisper seductively to him.
He blushes, and in that very moment the white door opens up.
- Number 144!- the man calls.
He gets up, his blue eyes land on mine again, cold, burning and shining.
- My name is Elijah.- he whispers.- Remember it. maybe, when we'll come back on Earth, I'll see you again.-
- Are you inviting me, Elijah?- I ask amused. - Be careful, I could accept your invitation.-
he turns over and smiles at me.
- I think I could handle it... what's your name?-
- Mena.-
- I think I could handle it, Mena, beautiful red devil. And maybe we'll have the chance to continue our conversation.-
He turns over and walks away. He enters the white door, the door that opens the gates of Heaven, the door only angels can walk through, to be periodically analyzed, to make sure they always believe in what they do.
I run a hand through my hair and sit quiet, my eyes glued to the red door, waiting for it to open up.
When it will, they'll call my name and I'll walk through it, I'll sit down on a dark room and I will be asked if I do still believe in what I do, if I still want to be what I am.
I'll answer that, yes, I want, even if those blue eyes still shine inside my mind and make my heart beat faster...
I scroll my head, trying to forget about that angel am not allowed to think about.
The red door opens up. I hear my name.
I get up and walk through it, I feel it closing behind me.
The red door, the door of Hell.

WOW! That's different. I liked it. It'd be a nice idea for a longer fic. Have you thought about that?
