Title: The Muse
Description: short Orli fantasy... remember?

Mena - December 14, 2003 11:31 AM (GMT)
hi girls! I know lot of u remember this, but as this is (probably) the best shortie I ever wrote, let me share it once again :)

the Muse

God, it's so cold in here!
I slowly open my eyes, then I close them again. I fell asleep without even realising it.
Well, I'd better get up, as I am awake.
I raise sitting on the couch, shivering. The light in the room is growing dim. Everything looks so grey and cold... why does it always rain in this holy country?
Finally my eyes find what I was looking for: a young man, cuddling up in his armchair, his shadows melting with the grey light around. Dark hair, dark eyes, his hand holding a piece of paper.
I see his lips moving as he whispers the sentences he has to learn. Then his voice raises up.
"...and you'll have my bow..."
his eyes leave the paper and thouch me. His glance burns mine as he stares at me, so concentrated.
" How could I play this? Should I look happy to join the Fellowship, or worried for the danger we will face?"
I smile.
"You should just be calm, and poised, and show how much you trust your new mates. You must assure them that you are willing to do anything to help them to destroy the Ring."
He smiles suddenly, as he gets up with the paper in his hand. The expression on his face is the one of a creature that has just took an hard decision, but he is smiling warmly.
"...and you'll have my bow." he repeats, firmly and with such a controlled passion that no one would doubt his elven origin.
Then the spells breaks, and he returns to be the actor I know.
He breathes of relief, then he laughs.
"That was good!" he exclaims "I'm definitely going to put it that way!"
I get up too and I walk towards him. Now we are so close that I could touch is cheek... and I am longing to do it.
I raise my hand, then I let it drop again.
I sigh.
"Yes Orli, that was good. You are a very talented actor, you know. Now go on, you must finish this sequence."
He immediately reacts, lifting the following page, his eyes nearly devouring the little black words printed on the script.
I am so proud of him. I love the way he studies, the way he tries to become the character he has to play. I love these rainy days we are spending together. He is so passionate, so brilliant.
I am not surprised that so many women are in love with him!
Sometimes I feel a bit jealous.
Sometimes I wonder how it would be if?
If, what? Dream about it is just unuseful, and painful.
But I can't stop thinking how much I'd like to show myself to him? I wish that when he looks at me, he could see me.
But this would be crazy.
Why then, I'd have to risk to ruin everything? All went the right way until now and, come on, honestly, it's me the one to be praised.
Everybody knows that if a human being manages to reincarnate more than five or six times, it's why his guiding spirit is doing everything to help him to carry on living. Some spirits I know hate this world. They do anything to come back to the Core as soon as possible. They don't care of paying this freedom with their humans' definitive death.
I care instead.
I like this world, and I'm not going to leave.
Paris, Venice, Saqqara... we've seen so much together. I also love the grey London we are staying in right now.
I watch Orlando reading his part.
He is so beautiful, so different. It seems amazing, nearly impossible to think that this British young actor once had been a French soldier during the Revolution, an Italian Reinassance painter, an architet of the Pyramids.
But he had, and I stayed by his side all the time.
I walk across the dark room and stop right behind him.
He is so close that I can smell his skin.
"Orli, dearest, can you hear me? Do you remember that, so much time ago you could see me? You used to call me your vision, your angel. And you were burned as a sorcier. What a pity!"
I really miss our conversations, but I know I must be patient: the world is not ready for us yet: for us, demons and spirits, the muses of the greatest artists.
"And you are a great artist, ain't you, Mr. Bloom?"
I smile and walk some steps around him, until I get straight before him.
I lift my hands, and hold him softly in my invisible arms.
Closer...
And, for one very instant, I'd swear that his eyes focused on something... can you see me, Orlando?
He shakes his head.
"Man, I must be crazy!" he laughs nervously.
I move back.
"No darling, you are not crazy. Sit down now, and go on reading."
He plops on his armchair, grabs his script and starts to read again.
I kneel down by his side, and I lean in, pressing my cheek on the goatee of his own.
"Be patient, my love." I whisper. "Eternity will wait. We got time. We got all the time we need."

the end
