Prologue


Have you ever heard of tales of vampires? The blood sucking creatures who roam the night? They are not at all like our ghost stories and legends make them out to be, some are those evil blood sucking creatures, others are kinder gentler creatures who feed off of animal blood. Not all our legends are true, they do not sleep in coffins they can’t sleep at all, they can go out in the sun but they sparkle in the sun but they rarely are out in sunlight because they do not wish to attract attention. Garlic does nothing to them and neither to wooden stakes, most of Hollywood’s version of vampires is wrong. Vampires can be people who live on the street next door to you or even your coworkers. They try to live like normal people, even though they are immortals and can’t die unless killed by another vampire and then burned.


This is the story based on the Butler and Wood Clan, a clan who came together to live in harmony as the peaceful vampires in our country, but they go through dangers and troubles along the way, the story is told through their newest member: Kathleen Williams, who later takes the name of Wood to keep up the family like appearance in the Wood/Butler clan and this is their story of war, survival, passion, and love.


This is their solemn hour.


A/N: I know I said I wouldn't post this for like a month but while on some free time from finals I've been writing and I hope you all enjoy it!

A/N: Here is chapter 1, I decided I would be nice and post some more since the prologue is so short. Enjoy!

Chapter 1- New York City January 2007


“I can’t believe we were able to sneak out of the dorms for this!” Sasha yelled over the loud music of the club and I just laughed as we swayed and moved to the hypnotic rhythm.


“I know! The other girls don’t know what they are missing!” I yelled back at her and we laughed.


“Happy New Year!” Sasha yelled while holding up her beer high in the air and I did the same and we toasted to the New Year. Both of us were 21 and went to Julliard for theater and were supposed to be under curfew at the dorms since we stayed in the city for Holiday break. But we decided we couldn’t miss spending New Years Eve out in the city because of a stupid curfew.


“I’m going to go get another drink!” I yelled over the pulsing music and Sasha nodded and began dancing with a guy next to her to the new song that came on.


I finally reached the bar and asked the bartender for another beer.


“Coming right up!” He called and I sat at the bar and waited for my beer.


“Hello.” A soft lilting voice said in my ear and it made me jump and I turned to see a handsome man next to me. He was extremely pale with dark eyes they looked almost black with short blonde hair. He was the most handsome man I had ever seen in my life.


“Hello.” I said softly back and the man smiled, a bright white smile.


“Are you here alone?” He asked.


“No, my friend Sasha is with me but she is enjoying her time on the dance floor, I needed a break.” I said as the bartender handed me another beer.


“Are you enjoying your New Years Eve?” He asked in his same soft voice that I could amazingly still hear over the loud music.


“Yes, and you?” I asked being polite.


“Yes, extremely. I’m sorry, I seem to have forgotten my manners. I am Alexi.” He said and I smiled as I took his cold, almost stone hard like hand.


“I’m Kathleen, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” I said and he smiled even bigger.


“Yes, it’s an extreme pleasure to meet you too. Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you look and how wonderful your perfume smells?” He said kissing the top of my warm hand and his cool lips sent a shiver up my arm.


“No.” I said blushing slightly and he took in a deep breath at the exact same time I blushed.


“A delicious scent.” He muttered and I looked at him confused and pulled my hand away.


“Yes, well, I’m going to go back to dancing now, it was nice meeting you Alexi.” I said a little freaked out by his delicious comment.


“No, wait, please.” He said pleading as he grabbed my wrist, it was a firm grab but yet soft at the same time.


“What?” I asked starting to get annoyed.


“Please, don’t be annoyed with me. Come outside and get some air with me.” He said and that’s when I had it.


“No thank you.” I said ripping my wrist out of his grasp and I started to walk away when his voice called me back.


“You’re friend can come outside with us too if you don’t feel safe with me.” He said and I stopped, something about his voice had me in a trance and I wanted to go outside with him. I turned around to face him and his eyes made me want to go with him more.


“Alright, I suppose she might need some air too.” I replied and he smiled again.


“Good, go and get her.” He said and I went and grabbed Sasha.


“Sasha, let’s go out and get some air, I have a guy I want you to meet.” I said and she smiled.


“Oh, alright.” She said smiling mischievously and I rolled my eyes at her. Once I reached Alexi he had another man with him, this man had jet black hair and pale skin just like his.


“This is my friend Jordan.” He said and Jordan went straight for Sasha.


“Hello.” He said in the soft voice like Alexi’s.


“Hello.” Sasha said almost in a daze.


“Let’s go get some air.” Alexi said with a smirk and he took my hand and led me outside with Jordan and Sasha. We walked out into the dark alley and Jordan and Sasha went farther into the darkness and I could only see their outlines.


“It’s a beautiful evening.” Alexi said softly in m hear as he brushed my dark brown hair away from my neck.


“Yes it is.” I said a little uncomfortable with this situation. I suddenly heard a soft scream from where Sasha was and I looked over to see her outline in Jordan’s arms and Jordan’s head at her neck.


“What’s he doing to her?” I asked suddenly worried for my friend.


“Nothing, she is alright, Jordan is just kissing her.” Alexi said turning my face to look at his away from Jordan and Sasha. My head started to get dizzy at the scent of his breath in my face, it was a sweet scent, but then I started to feel nauseous. I could smell blood nearby, it smelled like it was only feet away.


“Why do I smell blood?” I asked scared suddenly for my friend and Alexi shook his head laughing.


“You do not smell blood, I promise you.” He said running his cool fingers down my face until they reached my neck and he unwrapped my scarf from around my neck and began to lay sweet kisses there. I leaned against the brick wall in a trance and I heard a sickening sound, almost like someone sucking through a straw but like there was no straw for the person to suck through.


“Stop Alexi.” I said firmly pushing him away, “What is that noise?” I asked really scared suddenly, something was wrong with these two and I couldn’t put my finger on it and the smell of blood had suddenly grown stronger.


“It is nothing.” He said glaring at me now and he suddenly wrapped my scarf around my head to cover my mouth.


“Don’t scream beautiful, I am very thirsty and your blood is just so tempting and delicious smelling, I can’t wait any longer.” He said and my eyes went wide looking at his black ones and I tried to scream through my scarf but the sound was muffled, like I was screaming into a pillow and suddenly his lips were at my neck again and he bit hard and strong into my neck. I screamed at the pain and the fire that seemed to be going through my veins and I heard him drinking my blood and I could smell the blood too. I screamed louder into the scarf and he chuckled a dark chuckled against my skin as he took a break.


“Ooh, I love hearing them scream.” He said as he pushed my harder against the wall as he drank my blood and I felt this strong fire at the same time I grew weaker by the second, I couldn’t scream anymore. I just whimpered and cried hot tears down my face.


“You taste even better than you smell.” He said against my neck as he kept drinking. I could hear the sick slurping sound I heard earlier and I knew exactly what had happened to Sasha, she was now dead because of Jordan who had drank her blood. I whimpered again as the scarf started to slip away from my mouth and I was able to speak.


“Please, stop!” I cried in pain and he kept drinking moaning almost as he did so, like this was some pleasure to him. I was starting to feel weaker and my eyes closed, my body was becoming limper by the second and his strong arms still held me up against the wall.


“Hurry it up already Alexi.” Jordan growled from the darkness and I heard a loud breaking sound and a splash. He had thrown Sasha’s body into the sewer, she was gone now.


“I like to take my time Jordan, unlike you, I like to enjoy their pain and enjoy the taste.” Alexi said turning his head slightly towards him as he took a break. I tried to kick him and fight back but my body wouldn’t move, I had become too weak. His lips were at my neck again and I could feel him starting to drain more and more, I was wondering how much longer it would be before I saw the blackness that would engulf me into death. I started to see darker black spots through the darkness of my eyelids and then I heard a sound that was frightening but a joy to hear at the same time.


It was a loud growl, almost as if it were a lion’s growl and then I heard a crash like rocks hitting each other and Alexi was off of me and I heard him scream.


“NO!” He screamed as I heard him hit the ground and I slumped against the wall and fell to the ground weak.


I heard Jordan approaching me and he picked up my body when another screamed at him.


“Drop her! NOW!” The male voice screamed and Jordan hissed and dropped me. Then I heard another crash like boulders hitting each other and then Jordan and the other man hit the ground fighting. I heard keening and screeches and sounds that sounded like rock being torn apart. Then suddenly, I heard no more. I laid there waiting for death to overcome me and then I felt a pair of cold stone hands on my face.


“No.” I moaned softly trying to push the person away, thinking it was Alexi.


“Hush, we are not going to hurt you, we are the good guys.” The soft male voice said and I opened my eyes to see the most beautiful topaz colored eyes. The man had dark brown curly hair and pale skin like Alexi and Jordan.


“You’re not going to hurt me?” I said surprised I could speak at all.


“No, we are going to help you.” He said and I noticed another man next to him, with the same colored eyes and skin but red brown hair, “Robert, burn them now. The other one I noticed is in the sewer’s heading for the Hudson by now, she’s dead and long gone. I can still smell her blood on the other’s breath.” He said to Robert.


“What are we going to do with her?” Robert asked with pleading eyes.


“We have to take her back to Gerry, he will have to change her, she’s dying and I think we should give her another chance.” The curly brown haired one said. Robert sighed and nodded his head.


“I agree, but Elijah isn’t going to like the idea of our family growing now. We already have too many for one clan.” Robert said and the other one laughed.


“Let Elijah thinks what he will but this girl I think deserves a second chance.” The curly brown haired one said looking at me more closely as I could feel my eyes drooping from the weakness, I kept losing more and more blood, I could feel it flowing out of my neck now since there was no lips there to catch it.


“Alright, let me burn the bodies, you try and make sure she doesn’t lose much more blood or then she won’t have a chance.”Robert said and he went over and began throwing things that sounded like rocks into the dumpster. I then suddenly felt the fire from before again in my neck and felt it flowing through my veins.


“AHHH!” I screamed in pain and the curly brown haired one’s eyes grew wide and then sad.


“I have to take her back now, she already has some venom in her!” He said to Robert and then I heard Robert stop what he was doing.


“What?! You have to then help the process, the little bit that’s in her will make the process go more slowly and more painfully.” Robert yelled.


“I can’t! I haven’t had time to prepare myself for this!” He yelled back at Robert.


“Orlando, you have no choice, you have to do it now!” Robert yelled and I screamed.


“Help me please!” I screamed and Orlando sighed.


“I will have to take her away from here, she’s going to attract the police. Robert, hurry up and get those two burning, I’m going to take her to the abandoned warehouse nearby and finish the process.” Orlando said and he picked me up and whispered in my ear, “I know it’s painful, but I am going to need you to stop screaming to attract attention. I know this is painful but it will save you I promise, I’m not going to hurt you.” He whispered and I immediately shut my mouth agreeing to what he said, I don’t know why but I trusted him. Then suddenly we were off and it felt like we were flying but we were running. He took me to an abandoned warehouse out near the docks and up to the top floor. He laid me down on the dirty floor and gave me a sympathetic look.


“Please forgive me for this.” He said and then he bit my wrists and the other side of my neck and I screamed out in pain once and then closed my mouth to shut out the screams like he had asked me to. I convulsed against the fire that was burning in my body and whimpered softly against the pain. I then felt his strong arms wrap around me and hold me close and then darkness engulfed me and I could feel no more.

OME!!! It's so amazing! I can't even put it into words. And I can't wait till she meets the rest of the family. This story is gonna be so amazing, I can tell.

Chapter 2- Awakening


I awoke again to the fire in my body. I let out one loud scream and opened my eyes to see I was in a room lying on a comfortable king size bed. I convulsed against the pain on the bed and screamed in pain and a man came over to me.


“Shhh. Kathleen, I know the pain hurts.” The man said in a Scot/Irish accent, he had dark brown wavy hair and the same colored topaz eyes as Orlando and Robert from before. He ran a hand over my forehead to try and calm me and I just whimpered convulsing against the pain.


“How do you know my name?” I asked through the pain as I cried.


“Your ID. I’m Doctor Gerard Butler, but you may call me Gerry. I’m taking care of you and making sure you are going to be ok. This pain will only last for another day, you will be fine thanks to Orlando. He and Robert saved your life last night.” He said and I stared at him in shock.


“Last night?” I said as my body gave another large lurch at the pain and I screamed.


“Yes, you blacked out after Orlando finished the changing process. We think it was caused from the loss of blood and the pain from the venom spreading.” Dr. Butler said and I stared at him with wide eyes as I convulsed more on the bed.


“Venom?! What is happening to me?” I screamed scared and afraid for my life.


“It will all be explained after the process is over, you won’t understand now, you are too focused on your pain.” Dr. Butler said in a calm and comforting voice. I felt another round of the fire go through my body and I screamed in pain and arched my back as I screamed.


“I’m so sorry. I was just trying to help you, I thought you deserved a second chance.” A soft voice said from the other side of the room and I looked over to see Orlando with his head in his hands and he looked up at me with sad eyes. I felt sad for him and tried to muffle my screams into the pillow I was laying on, I didn’t want him to hear my screams any more.


A day passed with this pain and I felt it later in the afternoon the next day start to subside and I felt my body relax after all of the convulsions. I laid there letting my body relax after the grueling three days and then noticed my sense of smell was heightened when I took a deep breath. I could smell the sweetest scent. It was the same scent as Orlando had. I turned my head to still see him sitting next to my bed and I gave a small smile.


“It’s passed?” He asked.


“I think so, you people seem to know more about this than I do.” I said and he sighed.


“Is she finished?” Another voice asked and I saw Robert on the floor over in the corner looking saddened.


“Did you stay here this whole time too?” I asked and he nodded his head. I swallowed feeling a burning sensation in my throat and a strange taste. I sat up quickly and realized how fast I had sat up. I clutched my head feeling dizzy.


“You’re going to have to get use to that.” Orlando said coming to sit next to me on the bed, “How do you feel?” He asked.


“I have a burning sensation in my throat, almost like I haven’t had anything to drink in ages.” I said and he sighed.


“You must be thirsty. I will go and get Gerry to come and explain everything to you.” He said and he got up and left. As soon as the door shut I looked over to still see Robert sitting in the corner.


“You can come sit next to me.” I said reassuringly, “I am alright now and I would like to meet one of the men who saved my life.” I said and he sighed and got up and came over to me and sat down next to me.


“I’m Robert Butler.” He said.


“I’m Kathleen Williams, it is nice to meet you and thank you for saving my life.” I said shaking his hand and he cringed.


“What?” I asked tearing my hand away from his.


“Nothing, I’ve just got to get use to your newborn strength.” He said chuckling.


“Newborn?” I asked confused by his term.


“Yes, you’re a newborn vampire. This phase of your vampire life will pass within the year.” Robert said and I stared at him with wide eyes. They had saved my life but they had changed me into one of them. They changed me into the same creature who tried to kill me. I then screamed an earsplitting scream and Robert covered his ears.


“Ah evidently Robert has told you what you are.” Dr. Butler said coming into the room and I flew across the room with my new speed to stand against the wall.


“Don’t come any closer. How do I know you people aren’t with Jordan and Alexi?” I asked in a scared voice.


“We are not affiliated with those predators at all Kathleen, we are the peaceful vampires. We are kind of the good guys, we are not going to hurt you. My sons saved you from them.” Dr. Butler said and I stared at him surprised. He didn’t look much older than thirty and Orlando and Robert standing on either side of him looked to be no older than 24 maybe 25.


“You’re sons?” I asked shocked.


“Well, not my biological sons. I saved them from situations like yours in the past, along with my wife and daughters and helped with Elijah’s clan too. See, he is also my son, buthe wanted his own clan but we are together again to form the Butler/Wood clan.” Dr. Butler said and I stared at him confused and interested.


“How many others are there in this clan?” I asked.


“About ten, now including you.” Dr. Butler answered calmly and I fell to the floor in shock. I noticed from a ray of sunlight shining through the curtains of the room there was a sparkle against one wall, as if a lot of diamonds were in the light and then I noticed the light was coming from off of my skin and I screamed again, “That is one of the side effects of being a vampire, your skin is now frozen almost in time and you will stay 21 for eternity now.” Gerry said and I looked up at him in awe.


“I’m immortal?” I said.


“Yes, that is another side effect of becoming one of us. Now there are some rules about being one of us. Since we are letting you join our family, you will not drink human blood, we are going to help you become a vegetarian vampire as we call ourselves, you will drink animal blood. We will help you to learn this. Second, you must not tell any human you come in contact with anything about your true self, if you do we will all be in trouble with the Volturi. They are the royal family for vampires and like to have our kind kept secret.” Dr. Butler explained and I realized as it all was hitting me exactly what my fate was. I was given a second chance at life, but in return I was turned into a monster, one of the people who had attacked me. I was grateful for this second chance at life, but not like this.


I began crying, hard sobs but no tears came, from what Dr. Butler kept telling me about our kind is my bodily fluids were gone and I would never be able to reproduce. I was forever frozen as a 21 year old. I looked at myself in the mirror on the wall and noticed how beautiful I had become, my dark brown hair shined and had my light brown and red highlights were more pronounced in my hair. My breasts were a little fuller but not large, I had an hourglass shaped body but was still looked to be about a size 4. My pale complexion was gorgeous and I looked like a super model except for one thing, my glowing red eyes and this is what caused me to sob even harder, making my body shake from the sobs.


“Robert, will you go and get my wife please? She can help comfort her.” Dr. Butler said and he came over and rubbed my back as I sobbed, “I’m sorry you’re so upset by this but you will thank us later. I promise.” Dr. Butler said softly to me and I kept crying. Robert then came back with Gerry’s wife and I heard her come to sit next to me. I looked up to see a beautiful woman who was about 5 feet 2 inches with a petite curvy build and dark brown straight hair. Her topaz eyes showed compassion and she pulled me into her arms as I sobbed.


“It’s alright dear, it will all be fine.” She murmured softly into my hair.


“This is my wife Sheralynn, but we all call her Lynn.” Dr. Butler said and I nodded smiling a little at her.


“Hello.” She said softly and she let me just sob my dry sobs on her shoulder.


I did this for some hours and then Lynn explained more of the good things that came out of my change, she told me I would be able to have a family with all of them and that I can feel safe without the worry of Jordan and Alexi who were now dead. She also told me this could be a starting over process for me and how I should be grateful at my second chance at life. I finally stopped my dry sobs letting her kind and soothing words let me feel better.


“Are you alright now?” She asked softly with a worried expression in her eyes.


“Yes, where did Gerry, Orlando, and Robert go?” I asked.


“Gerry went with some of the others to go hunting, they will be back soon.” Lynn said.


“Oh, where are we exactly?” I asked curious.


“Buffalo, closer to the mountains so we can hunt.” Lynn said and I nodded my head, “Would you like to come and meet the family?” She asked and I smiled.


“Yes, I would like that.” I replied and we got up and left my room to go downstairs. The house looked like an old Victorian home but with a large open living area downstairs with a small kitchen, and three floors. Each floor had bedrooms and bathrooms and some studies. We reached the large living room and I noticed a brown haired man and a light brown haired girl sitting together on the couch. They both turned their heads in our direction when we came down the steps. The light brown haired girl had her hair cut short to her chin and almost danced over to me with a large smile on her face.


“I am Allison Butler and I am so happy to have you a part of our family.”She said and she hugged me and kissed me on both cheeks.


“Thanks.” I said smiling at her, I noticed she also looked like she couldn’t be much older than maybe 22 or 23.


“My husband is Kellan Wood, but he is out right now hunting with Gerry, Hugh, Orlando, and Robert. We decided you would take Elijah’s last name, he is my biological brother. Kellan, and Thea too Elijah’s last name too. That way we can keep up the façade that all of us were adopted by Gerry and Lynn. We kept the name Wood so it would look like they were nieces and nephews of Lynn’s and me, Robert, Orlando, and Hugh are all related in our façade, I am the youngest girl and they are my older brothers, Orlando and Hugh are twins, Robert is only a year younger than them as the youngest brother.” Allison said explaining the role our family plays in the real world.


“Oh, ok.” I said softly and she smiled and hugged me.


“It will get easier. Now, when Robert and Orlando get back we are going to take you hunting to teach you everything you need to know.” Allison said and I just gave a small smile and a nod.


“Is she going to be alright?” Thea asked coming downstairs. Thea was tall with long dark black hair.


“Yes, I think so. It will just take her some time to get use to this world.” Allison said and then the boys came back in the backdoor from hunting.


“Hello.” I said to Thea and then the brown haired man who was on the couch got up and left to go upstairs.


“That was Elijah Wood, and Thea Wood is my wife. I’m Hugh Butler and I’m sorry for his rude behavior. He doesn’t like it when newborns join, he finds it harder for us to look less threatening or inconspicuous.” Hugh said coming up to me and I smiled a little.


“I can understand that.” I said softly and he smiled at me.


“Don’t worry, we are happy to have a new member in the family.” He said and he ran off after Elijah with his wife following upstairs.


“Hello I’m Kellan Wood.” Kellan said coming forward with Robert, Orlando, and Gerry. I smiled and shook his hand.


“Hello.” I said and he smiled.


“I’m glad we can have you in the family.” He said and then Allison smiled at Robert and Orlando.


“Let’s take you hunting you look like you’re dying of thirst.” Allison said cracking a joke and we headed outside to hunt.

I can tell that this is going to be an amazing story and I'm still on cloud 9 for being Gerry's wife in this....yay!!!

I'm so glad you all are liking it. After this chapter the Meyers clan will be introduced. But now, here is some more fo the Butler clan and you get to see their wilder side and goofier side too. ;)

Chapter 3- Learning


“Let’s take you out hunting you look like you’re dying of thirst.” Allison said cracking a joke and we headed outside to hunt.


Our hunting party consisted of me, Allison, Robert, Orlando, Gerry, and Kellan. I felt like a new pet that they were going to teach new tricks as we headed into the woods.


“Kellan! Piggy back ride!” Allison said jumping up onto his tall back. She looked like a child on his back compared to his large form and tall body.


“Yes, love.” He said chuckling and then ran off and I stared off shocked, they just disappeared into an almost blur running away ahead of us. I heard chuckling and turned to see Robert walking next to me.


“It’s gonna take some getting use to, our running style.” He said and I nodded my head as Gerry and Orlando ran ahead.


“So we are running then to where we can hunt?” I asked and he nodded.


“Yeah, it’s in the Canadian mountains, not that far, about a 10 minute run.” He said and I shook my head confused at what he said. Canadian mountains? 10 minute run? That somehow did not fit. He chuckled again at my expression.


“As a vampire you gain super strength, well yours in more powerful considering you being a newborn and you gain super speed, plus some other heightened powers.” Robert said as we continued walking for now.


“Ah, what are those powers?” I asked and he smiled.


“We will explain those all later once we get back home, but you need to hunt.” He said and he walked closer and then held out his hand, “Want to run?” he asked with a small crooked grin and I smiled back and took his hand.


“Sure.” I said and then we both began running and I was surprised at how fast we were going.


“We’re coming hold on.” Robert mumbled and I looked at him confused.


“What?” I asked.


“Nothing.” He said and shook his head. We continued running for some time and then we started to slow down and I realized we were higher up in elevation and there was more snow on the ground. I heard chuckling and I then turned around some trees and found a clearing where Kellan with Allison still on his back and Gerry and Orlando were waiting.


“Took ya long enough!” Kellan said loudly and Allison smacked him on the head, “Ow! Baby, that wasn’t very nice.” He said to her and she glared at him.


“No, what you said wasn’t very nice dear husband, she is new to the family and our ways, give her a break.” Allison said and she slid off his back.


“Baby, I was just kidding.” He said grabbing her around her thin waist, I would have thought he would have broken her in half by his grasp but she just chuckled and kissed him lightly on the lips.


“You’re forgiven.” She said and I chuckled at the scene before me.


“I’m surprised at you, you are taking this very well compared to how some of us reacted to becoming vampires.” Robert said and I smiled.


“I’ve been given a second chance at life, I am very happy. Plus you and Orlando saved me.” I said and Robert smiled and gave his hand a light squeeze and his smile grew wider, “Oh and I always wanted to be a vampire when I was a kid anyway. Screw being a princess!” I said and Robert and the guys laughed.


“I am really beginning to like you.” Allison said wrapping her one arm around my shoulders, “So you ready to learn how to hunt?” She asked and I nodded my head, “Good.” She said and she led me farther into the clearing where there were some rocks and we hid behind them. Gerry came over too and sat down next to me.


“Alright, now let your senses take over, this is really easy, just let your instincts take over. There are no humans around, so don’t worry about that, just animals.” Gerry said softly and I nodded my head and I let my sense take over. I could smell and hear so much more clearly than I could before and I smelled a sweet, mouthwatering smell. I then heard movement in the trees in front of us and a group of deer came in and the scent over came me and I got a red tint in front of my eyes and I pounced. I tackled one deer quickly and bit hard into its neck and drank.


I did this one after the other and keep going, it was like I couldn’t stop, until suddenly there was no more. I stopped and wiped my mouth on my jacket sleeve and noticed the blood, how it wasn’t just on sleeve but everywhere and I looked behind me to see the large group of about 6 deer, dead and ravaged. I felt my eyes burn as if there were tears there but none came and I stood there shaking and shocked.


Allison immediately ran to my side and pulled me into her embrace. She stroked my hair as I sobbed my dry sobs.


“Well, she was doing well until now.” Kellan muttered over at the other end of the field.


“This is natural, I remember your first time Mr. tough guy, you got upset at killing a rabbit!” Gerry said scolding his son.


“Alright, I’m sorry. Geez, it’s been about 50 years since my first time dad.” Kellan said putting an emphasis on the dad part.


“Kellan.” Gerry said sternly and I heard him sigh and sit down on the ground. I was surprised at my super hearing, it was still weird.


“I know it’s tough to realize what you did, but it was your first time and you need the blood, at least you didn’t go after humans. My first time, I accidently attacked a hiker. Let’s just say Gerry wasn’t too happy about that.” Allison said and I pulled out of her embrace to look at her.


“You won’t let me…” I couldn’t finish the sentence and she smiled her bright white smile.


“No, we promise. We are here to take care of you, you’re one of us now, you’re my sister.” She said and she kissed me on the cheek.


“Thank you.” I said and I suddenly realized how full I felt.


“You’re ready to leave.” She stated and she pulled me back to the group.


“Wait, how did you…” I started to say until she cut me off.


“My power is to read minds, see the future, and create force fields with my mind. I heard you in your head say you were full.” Allison said smiling and I stopped walking and stared at her in shock and she just laughed her musical laugh and tugged me back along, “We will explain all of that when we get home.” She said and we reached the group. She then ran off over to Kellan and jumped on his back.


“You know darling, I am not going to always be your personal chariot.” He said and she laughed and kissed his neck.


“I know, but today I’m feeling lazy so I want my big strong husband to carry me.” She said and he chuckled.


“Fine.” He said and they ran off. Gerry came over and hugged me.


“Are you going to be ok?” He asked and I nodded my head.


“Yeah, I think I will be fine. This all is just going to take some getting use to.” I said and he laughed.


“It’s like that for everybody in their newborn stage, but you will get use to it all pretty quick.” Gerry said and he kissed my forehead and then ran off with Orlando.


“See you back home!” Gerry called and then Robert came over to me.


“So, want to run back home with me?” He asked holding out his hand.


“Sure.” I said and he smiled and we took off running.


“So what’s your powers?” I asked and he chuckled.


“Mind reading and I can control things with my mind.” He said and I laughed.


“Does everyone have mind reading powers?” I asked and he laughed.


“No, just a few of us. I guess the reason, as Gerry put it one time, it’s because we all were very aware of others around us and what they thought of us in our past lives.” Robert said and I laughed.


“Well then add me to the list who will end up with the mind reading power. Who else has that power?” I asked and he smiled.


“Me, Orlando, and Allison. Hugh, Orlando’s biological twin brother was pretty pissed when he didn’t get it because he thought him and Orlando being twins would have similar powers but that’s not true at all. Hugh and Orlando maybe be twins, but they both are very opposite of each other. But they both do have the same power to change emotions. They both are very stubborn, that’s about the only thing they have in common.” Robert said laughing and I laughed with him too. He sighed and I looked at him concerned.


“What’s wrong?” I asked.


“Nothing, it’s just I haven’t laughed like that in so long.” He said and I gave his hand a small squeeze.


“I’m glad I’m helping remedy that.” I said and he smiled.


“Me too.” He said and we continued running in silence until we reached back home. We then walked back into the house and Lynn immediately came over to me and hugged me and kissed me on the cheek.


“Are you feeling better sweetie?” She asked and I smiled, she reminded me so much of my mother.


“Yes thank you.” I said and she smiled.


“Good, why don’t you run upstairs and shower and clean up and you can meet us all downstairs to have a family meeting. We will be explaining more to you.” She said and I nodded. I headed upstairs with Allison showing me the way back to my room where I was before on the third floor.


“How did you all have this extra room ready and prepared for me?” I asked as I looked in my closet at the full racks of clothing and accessories. Allison just giggled and pointed at herself.


“Years ago I saw a vision of a young girl around my age joining the family and making us finally complete. So I told Gerry and he decided we would wait before we took any action. Then about a month ago I saw vision of that same girl being attacked by some nomadic vampires and Orlando and Robert saving her and bringing her into the family. So I decided to do some shopping after I figured out around your size and set up your room in one of our studies that was never used.” Allison said and then there was a growl that sounded like it was below us.


“IT WAS USED ALLISON BY ME!!! IT WAS MY STUDY!!” a male voice screamed from below us and I looked at her confused as she rolled her eyes.


“YOU HAVE TWO STUDIES ELIJAH!! TWO!!! ONE WAS MAINLY USED AS A DAMN SHRINE FOR ABIGAIL!! YOU DON’T NEED ONE ROOM JUST AS A SHRINE!!!” Allison said and she stamped her heeled foot on the my floor as we heard a growl, “Ignore my brother, his wife died over 50 years ago and he still hasn’t gotten over it, that’s why he is always in a foul mood.” Allison said and I nodded.


“But there will be more about that and everyone later. You should get cleaned up and we will meet you downstairs.” Allison said and she kissed me on the cheek and left. I grabbed one of the white bathrobes in the closet and went into my connecting bathroom and gasped. It was a large marble bathroom with a shower that could fit four in one corner, a large marble Jacuzzi tub and a large vanity mirror and sink with a toilet that I knew would never be used. I closed the door and went over to the shower and turned it all the way up and took off my clothes and threw them in the clothes hamper in the corner and got in the steaming hot shower.


As I stood in the shower I thought back on my family, how vaguely I was already remembering them. I seemed to only remember my life from within the past 5 years, my childhood seemed to go away like it was all a dream or a blur. My parents, I wondered how they were doing or if they would remember me. They probably thought I was dead, and that my body was burned in the dumpster or something or I was now fish food in the Hudson. I was never going to see them ever again, not my little sister, my older brother and his wife and my nephew and niece. No one. Not ever, I was never going to see Sasha, Rachel, Becca, Kim, or any of my friends. My life was now with the Butlers.


The dry sobs came back and I sobbed as I showered. I was sad I was never going to see them again and that my old life was now over. But I thought of the good that came out of this change, I was going to have a second chance at life and I was immortal, that’s not too bad, plus I have super powers, well almost, but I could make my life better now and I could kind of start over and do what I wanted to do before in my old life. I got out of the shower to find Thea and Allison standing there, Allison holding my bathrobe. I immediately covered myself and they both laughed.


“We’re family now, get use to us being here.” Thea said and I sighed and took the bathrobe from Allison and they both then hugged me close.


“Everything is going to be fine, you will like us.” Allison said and I laughed.


“I already do like you all, you remind me kind of my family and friends and I’m just happy that I got a second chance at life.” I said and they both smiled.


“Come on, let’s get you changed and downstairs, everyone’s waiting.” Thea said and we went out into my room to get me changed and ready.

It is very hard to find an amusing scene in a vampire story... Especially when the aforementioned scene is about hunting! It was refreshing to read it though, although I must say I enjoyed it also because the poor girl feels bad about it, and about leaving her mortal family... I mean, it makes sense and supernatural must not be mistaken for illogic, right?

Now, bring in the bad guys!!!

Ack sorry I haven't replied yet, things are hell at work.

I just love this part because she's realizing how much she's changing now and it really helps that everyone's there to support her. I love how Gerry was strict with Kellan haha! I cry every time a commercial about animal abuse comes on so poor Kat. She's going to be just fine :)

Yay for me being there too and HA! I do sense something between Robert and Kat! I knew it! :noangel:

Chapter 4- The Others


Heels click on the marble floor as a red headed woman walks angrily through the gilded halls. Her hips sway in the black mini skirt and she adjusts her dark red blouse as she walks. She flips her red hair over her shoulder and lets out a frustrated sigh as she reaches the double doors into the old throne chamber, now used as a living room and feeding room. She throws the double doors open and sees her clan leader sitting at the large wooden throne with his young wife in his arms. He is kissing her passionately and sensually, he practically in any second could have sex with her in that very spot.


“Jonathan get a bloody room!” She yelled angrily and he looked up from around his lovers shoulder at her.


“I am in a room, you so rudely had to interrupt. Plus this is my castle, I am allowed to do what I wish.” He said and he started to go back to kissing his wife.


“Yes, I am well aware that Castle Meyers is yours you dolt, but I am a little tired of being cooped up in here if you ask me.” The red head said angrily as she collapsed down at one of the marble card tables and put her red heeled feet up on the table as she lounged.


Jonathan adjusted his wife on his lap and looked more closely at the red head.


“Why don’t you just go complain to your husband Rowan.” Jonathan replied looking at her and she rolled her eyes.


“I can’t, he is hunting at the moment.” Rowan said with a small smirk on her face, she knew that would rile up Jonathan.


“He’s what?!” he said angrily standing up pushing his wife to the side and she sat on the steps pouting. That girl acted younger than her human age of 20 at times.


“You heard me.” Rowan said and Jonathan walked over to her looking pissed and like he could kill at any moment.


“He was supposed to wait for a couple more days after you went to re open the Castle for tourists. It is now tourist season and we can lure our prey to us instead of hunting them at night like wild animals.” Jonathan replied angrily.


“But we are wild animals dear Jonathan, that’s what we are since the beginning of our time. Hunters that prey on humans, monsters who drink human blood. But yet we are more superior than them, we live forever and have powers and strengths that they do not.” Rowan said smiling devilishly at Jonathan who only glared back.


“Yes, I know what we are oh historical mistress. But again, he was supposed to obey my orders and wait. He will be punished for this.” Jonathan said walking back to his throne.


“NO! You cannot punish him for that, he was almost dying of thirst!” Rowan yelled at him, her eyes menacing and deadly.


“WE ALL ARE PRACTICALLY DYING OF THIRST!!” Jonathan screamed turning over one of the marble card tables.


“Ooh, someone’s in a bad mood again today.” A black haired short teenage girl said coming into the room with a tall gangly brunette haired man. They were holding hands and snickering at her comment.


“Grow up Lessy!” Rowan said seething at her.


“Well, we all are a little bit touchy because we haven’t had anything in nearly 5 weeks. We cannot go that long without blood.” The dark skinned beauty who was with Jonathan finally said speaking up. She walked over to her husband and started to stroke his arm gently and lovingly to calm him down. He sighed and went and sat down at the throne again with his wife in his arms.


“Thank you Parker.” He said softly to her as he kissed her sweetly on her neck, “When Cillian gets back please tell him not to ever do that again without my permission understood?” Jonathan said and Rowan just nodded her head.


“Good, and you will re open this Castle and Estate for tourists tomorrow?” He asked and she nodded her head.


“Fine and also one last thing Rowan, Cillian will not being joining us in the festivities tomorrow for the opening nor will he get any share in the bountiful feast.” Jonathan said with an evil smirk.


“You are evil.” She hissed and he just laughed.


“We all are love, we all are. Now what was your original reason for coming in here?” he asked as he went back to flirting with his wife as Lessy and her husband Jim sat down at one of the elaborate couches in the room.


“Well, my reason was to try and persuade you to let us all go on a trip away from the Estate for a change, we all are so tired of being cooped up in here and want freedom. Even with the tourist coming we want out of here for a break.” Rowan said angrily and Jonathan sighed.


“We go through this every year.” Jonathan said rolling his eyes as he played with Parker’s hair.


“Yes, every year for the past 20 years since we moved back here. Jonathan, we need to get out! We are vampires for hell’s sake! We aren’t like all those silly myths the humans make us out to be, we are more powerful than that and can go outside when it’s not sunny. Let’s go away for a few years, to Alaska or some other place in the United States. You liked that one wood cottage we had in the mountains in Oregon, remember?” Rowan said pleading, she had been talking with the others in their clan and how they desperately wanted to go out and be somewhere else for a change. They were beginning to get tired of England again and wanted to be somewhere else.


“I will think about it. Now leave me alone.” Jonathan said sounding like a spoilt child, he reminded her much of King Henry the eighth years ago. She stood up angrily and left with Lessy and Jim on her heels.


She remembered when she had power, more power than Jonathan. That was almost 500 years ago. Rowan Meyers was originally named Margret Rowan Blount. Yes, the same Margret Blount who was the younger sister to Elizabeth “Bessie” Blount who was the first mistress to the King. Rowan remembered those great years. It was the summer of 1513 when she finally arrived at court because of her sisters connections with the king and she loved it there she flirted with many men and had more power than she could ever dream of. But after the king dropped her older sister like she was a moldy piece of bread for his queen again, Rowan decided to play the good girl part and flirt vicariously with the king.


She remembered one warm summer afternoon. The king was saddened by another miscarriage his wife had had and he was sitting by himself near the woods. Rowan adjusted her dark red dress, the color that made her look more beautiful than any woman at court and walked towards him.


“Oh your grace, I did not see you there.” She said simply and he looked up at her.


“Hello Miss Blount.” He said sadly and she looked closer at him and decided to put on her wonderful flirtatious powers.


“Is something wrong?” She asked and he shook his head.


“My wife has miscarried again.” He said and Margret took a bold move and sat down next to him.


“I’m sorry to hear that.” She said and he leaned his head on her shoulder as he cried and complained and told her his sad life story. She listened and spoke when she needed to but then suddenly the king looked up at her with a feral look in his eyes.


“What is it your grace?” She asked innocently knowing full well what he wanted.


“Will you come with me into the woods? To help me feel better?” He asked and inside Rowan gave a smirk knowing she had him in her grasp, she could become the next mistress and bring her family more power again.


“No, I shouldn’t your grace.” She said getting up and playing the innocent card and the king grabbed her hand and turned her back around to face him.


“Please Rowan.” He said and she gasped surprised he knew her middle name and that she liked to be called that.


“You’re highness… I….” She said and he touched her face lightly with his fingertips and kissed her softly and sweetly on her lips.


“Please Rowan, for me. For your family, for you.” He whispered against her lips and she sighed, deciding to end this game and get what she wanted power and a day spent making love to the king.


“As you wish your highness.” She said softly and he smiled at her.


“Please call me Henry.” He said huskily in her ear as he whisked her away deep into the woods and made sweet love to her. Rowan had never felt more amazing and what a person to have her first time with. She would moan and sigh his name and he would love that and make love to her harder and more passionately each time she would say his name. They made love that whole afternoon until the sun had started to set.


“I must go.” He replied and she nodded her head.


“We shall see each other again?” He asked and she nodded her head.


“Good, thank you Rowan.” He said and he quickly changed back into his clothes and helped her and he headed back before her and she followed a few minutes after.


“You have a very strong talent of flirtation.” An older man said walking through the forest.


“Did you see everything?” She asked shocked.


“No, I only saw you flirt with the king and then the both of you head into the forest, nothing more.” The man said and she sighed in relief.


“Who are you?” She asked.


“Master William Fitz, I have been at court for some time now.” He said and she looked at him, he didn’t look older than 40 but he had the most glorious pale skin and beautiful salt and pepper colored hair.


“It’s a pleasure to meet you Master Fitz.” Rowan said curtsying.


“Yes, it’s a pleasure to meet you too Miss Blount. You know you remind me much of my daughter who passed away many years ago.” He said and she smiled.


“Thank you.” She said and they began talking as they headed back into the castle, he told her of his true identity of being a vampire and she loved hearing his stories. She told him she would meet him again tomorrow in the garden to tell her more stories.


A few days went by that Rowan would spend with the King or Master Fitz, but soon a new woman came to court, Anne Boleyn and she was the next woman to take the kings heart. Rowan seethed at her and hated her for stealing the king from her and the power from her family. Rowan came up with a plan to have Master Fitz change her so, she could kill Anne with her vampire powers but Master Fitz refused, he never changed anyone.


Some months later, her nephew Henry who was the kings bastard fell sick and she wanted to save him. She begged and pleaded with Master Fitz to change her and she promised she would only use her vampire powers to help others not to kill and eat humans. Master Fitz was one of the few vegetarian vampires who only fed off of animal blood. She sighed and agreed not caring only about saving her nephew. He changed her and the process took three grueling days and when she awoke she tried to save Henry but in the process ended up draining him of his blood and killing him. Everything in her being broke, she hated that he had died and she decided to take out her aggressions on anything she could, she killed Master Fitz for what he did to her. After all the lessons she had with him before he changed her into a vampire she knew how to kill another vampire.


After that she left the country and hid away in the English countryside, finding a small group of vampires like herself, the Harris clan and they took care of her as she watched over her family and their descendents for a while and then she traveled off to Italy where she began to work with the Volturi.


That was where she meet Jonathan and Cillian, they both worked for the Volturi guard and they worked for them for some time until they wanted to get out and be on their own, in their own clan and that was only about 300 years ago when that happened and they have all been together ever since.


“How are you going to persuade Jonathan now?” Lessy asked as they reached the other open chamber at the other end of the Castle.


“They didn’t call me the flirt of the Tudor court for nothing.” Rowan said with a wicked grin as she sat down on a couch.


“I thought Anne Boleyn was the flirt of the Tudor court?” Lessy asked.


“Yes, but I was the original, that’s why my power is as a succubus dear sister.” Rowan said toying with an empty wine glass on the floor and Lessy laughed.


“I know that Rowan.” Lessy said sounding like the teenager she was, “But you know Jonathan knows your power and can stop you before you go too far.” Lessy said.


“Oh, don’t worry I will catch him when he is unaware.” Rowan said with a wicked grin, “We need to get out of this place.” Rowan said as she looked out the window at the dark foggy night.


“Why do we need to? We have tourists coming tomorrow, everything will be fine again.” Lessy said as she laid in Jim’s embrace on another couch.


“You sounded earlier as if you are pleading to get out of here.” Jim spoke in his soft voice.


“We need to leave because he is here.” Rowan said looking angry out the window.


“Who?” Lessy asked.


“Demetri, the head of the Volturi guard.” Rowan said almost as if she had a bitter taste in her mouth.


“How much longer do we have?” Jim asked knowing full well the danger of one of the Volturi guard being here.


“A week at most, that’s why I feel we need to get out of here as soon as possible. If he finds out we are here, they will drag us back to Volterra and make us rejoin the guard again because of our powers, they need people like us.” Rowan said.


“Use any method you can to persuade him, I won’t stop you.” Parker said from the doorway, she evidently heard the conversation.


“Thank you Parker, you can help us plan this out, we need to get out of here.” Rowan said and they all huddled together and began to plan ways to persuade Jonathan to let them leave.

Chapter 5- Memories and Histories


After Thea and Allison had helped me get changed we headed downstairs where everyone was gathered in the large living room on couches and chairs in front of a roaring fire in the fire place.


Gerry and Lynn were on a love seat near the fireplace, Rob, Elijah, and Orlando were in armchairs. Allison and Thea went to join Kellan and Hugh on the large couch. I took the extra arm chair and sat down.


“So, the reason we have called this family meeting is to formally welcome you into our family and to also tell you a little bit about us. We know that you miss your past life and family, we all did in the beginning but we can be your family now. My wife and I would be proud and happy to call you our daughter.” Gerard said smiling and holding Lynn’s hand while she smiled sweetly at me.


“Thank you, I would like that very much.” I said smiling back and Gerard smiled.


“Good, well I guess since I was the first to become a vampire and who created this Clan I should go first.” He said and he cleared his throat and I noticed the others get comfortable in their seats for this tale, even though I am sure they all had heard it many times before. Allison settled deeper into Kellan’s strong embrace on the couch as did Thea in Hugh’s arms.


“I was born in Scotland in the year 1300. My father was a farmer and also a warrior in the great Sir William Wallace’s army. When I was 5 years old I met William Wallace before he died. My father also died in the battle with Wallace.” Gerard said and Lynn rubbed his back soothing him, “I don’t remember much of my childhood or life up until the year I was changed but for some reason I remember that day when I met Wallace the most.” He said with a slight smile, “Anyways, in the year 1330 I was married and my wife had recently given birth to our first born. I was a farmer like my father and was out in the barn one night when a traveler came into my barn. He looked haggard and it was after midnight and I wondered what he was doing here. He came at me and attacked and bit me and began to inject his venom into me and then tried to drink my blood when he suddenly sniffed the air and smelled my wife and baby’s fresh blood. He jumped up and ran out of the barn into my home and I couldn’t move because of the pain of the venom. I could hear my wife’s screams and our baby crying until they deceased.” He said and he looked close to tears if he could cry, Lynn rubbed his back comfortingly and kissed him lightly on the neck.


“Then next thing I smelled was smoke. The vampire was burning down my home to make it look like an accidental fire and then he went to burn the barn. I moved as fast as I could with the pain in my body and hid in a nearby cave. I spent the next three days there waiting out my pain. When it finally subsided, I was thirsty but I didn’t want this life, I didn’t want to drink human blood, so I tried to resist. But my blood hunger was taking control, so I attacked the first dear who came near and the whole pack it was with. I figured out a way I could live like this without human blood.” Gerard said looking a little happier.


“I had much time on my hands then without being able to sleep and such, so I started to study medicine. Something I had always been interested in as a young man anyway and now I had the resources to study. I even went to Italy to study, at the great vampire city of Volterra.” He said and he smiled, “During the Tudor age, I was made Lord Butler and was allowed at the Kings court. I had some of the women who were with Queen Katherine of Aragon flirt with me at the time including Miss Bessie Blount and the infamous Anne Boleyn.” Gerard said boasting as Lynn smacked him and the boys snickered. I had to stifle a giggle myself.


“Yes so time went on by, but I was growing lonely. So I wanted to find a companion or someone like myself I could spend time with, instead of by myself most days.” Gerard said and then he smiled, “Then I met Lady Pattinson. The year was 1561, she was a lady in Queen Elizabeth’s court. She had a son, he was with the royal army and had just returned home sick. She came to me begging for help. It turned out he had consumption. It spread to his mother, she was his only living relative and his fiancée Katherine. The reason I was fine was because, well I was dead anyway and it wouldn’t hurt me. His mother had begged for me to do something, anything and so I decided to change him. He was dying and his mother and fiancée were already dead, so that night I changed him.” Gerard said and Robert laughed.


“Yeah, that was more painful than the consumption.” Robert said and the others gave a small laugh.


“Is there anything you would like to add to your story son?” Gerard asked.


“Nope, I think you covered the high points of mine.” Robert said and then Gerard smiled and went on to continue.


“So, after I had changed him and started to teach him of our ways, we stayed together and traveled through Europe and the rest of the world together. We went to Charleston in the year 1725, the summer of piracy for the Charleston coast. We had been living on the coast for some time, mainly of course keeping indoors but we would have people come by for appointments. I told everyone that Robert was my brother and my apprentice. Well, one night I had a young woman come in crying and scared at pirates who had attacked her home and robbed her family. This young woman was Lynn Sheridan.” Gerard said and he smiled at Lynn as he took her hand in his again.


“She wanted me to come and see to her family. But on our way there a pirate war ensued at the docks and Lynn had been shot. She was dying in the street and I wanted so desperately for a wife of my own, so I changed her.” Gerard said.


“Those three nights were the worst of my life yet the best because you were by my side the whole time.” Lynn said and she kissed him lightly on the lips.


“Thank you love.” He said softly to her as he kissed her again.


“Hey! Back to the story we don’t want to see our parents making out in front of us!” Kellan shouted and we all laughed.


“Kellan.” Lynn said in a stern voice as she blushed some and Kellan shut his mouth.


“Sorry mom.” He said quietly.


“Anyways moving on with the story. So there were now two to our small clan. Our third and fourth members became Orlando and Hugh. We were traveling…” Gerard started to say until Lynn cleared her throat.


“Aren’t you forgetting something?” Lynn said looking sternly at her husband.


“What?” He asked.


“Our wedding. It was in the midst of the Revolutionary War!” Lynn said and Gerard laughed.


“Oh right, well, in 1776 the city was being attacked by the British and Lynn and I were being married in the courthouse by another vampire friend of ours. It was pretty exciting.” Gerard said smiling at his wife.


“Not as exciting as the reception which was interrupted by the British running into your home on the Battery, that was priceless!” Robert said laughing.


“Damn Brits.” Lynn muttered.


“HEY!” Robert, Orlando, and Hugh said.


“Oh I don’t mean you boys.” Lynn said while Gerard laughed at their reaction.


“Anyways, so after our marriage, kind of on a honeymoon, we traveled around the world. The year was 1820, the Regency era. We were traveling through England again and we found two twin boys who had been in a bad dueling fight with each other.” Gerard said looking over at Orlando and Hugh.


“Hey! He started it!” Hugh said pointing at his brother across the room.


“Me! Wait a minute! Let me tell this story! You were the one who made me start it!” Orlando said and he sat up straighter in his chair.


“See all of this started when I was courting Emma Whitfield.” Orlando stated and Hugh glared at his brother, “And my dear twin brother was jealous that the most beautiful woman in all of Kent was courting me. Well it turns out my brother was trying to flirt with her too. So we had a duel out in the countryside. Well, we both fired at the same time and I guess we both have really good aim.” Orlando said and the rest of the family, including myself fell into a fit of giggles.


“Well, I couldn’t just leave those dying boys there and plus I knew Robert wanted someone, so I changed them.” Gerard said and he smiled over at Hugh.


“But Hugh was the first to find his companion and bring her to me. He was traveling in France in 1880 and found a young woman in France who had been bitten by a bad vampire, he wanted to save her since she had so much blood that had been lost and brought her to me. I couldn’t deny his wishes and I could tell how much he had fallen in love with Thea within a few days of being in France. So I changed her for him.” Gerard said and Thea smiled as she cuddled closer into Hugh’s arms.


“I don’t remember much of my past life, just that I was a higher woman in society and that the man who bit me was English like Hugh, and to this day I still want to take revenge on him.” Thea said and I looked at her sympathetically, “But if it weren’t for him I wouldn’t be here today with Hugh. I hated being a vampire at first but when I learned it could be spent with Hugh for the rest of my life I liked it. I was bitten at midnight on the night of my twenty first birthday, Hugh was in attendance with much of the other higher society of Paris at the time so that’s why we don’t know who it was exactly who bit me but I am glad Hugh was there.” Thea said and Hugh kissed her hair.


“After Thea had joined the family, I had decided to call us the Butler clan. Thea kept her last name of Champeau for a while until we found Elijah and Allison. The year was 1922 and the city was Chicago. Allison was a flapper in the Nightclub Eclipse and Elijah was a bartender. Well one night a mafia gang came in and shot up the whole place.” Gerard said.


“I tried to save my younger sister but we were caught outside in the alley, we both were huddled together waiting for death when Gerard saved us and he also saved another one of the dancers who was my wife. Abigail Wood.” Elijah said and he looked solemn again.


“After we had saved them, Lynn suggested that Thea, Abigail and Elijah keep the name Wood since our clan had grown so big and we could make it seem as if they were relatives on her side of the family who had come to live with us. Allison at first was going to keep the name Wood, but she wanted to become a Butler in thanks for us saving her life.” Gerard said.


“Our parents died in a terrible fire in 1918 and I wanted to thank him for everything and for finally giving me a family again, so I took his name. Elijah refused and Abigail wanted the name of Wood since they were married and Thea didn’t mind getting hers changed. Even though they were called Wood, they were still considered Butlers. All of us are a part of the Butler clan.” Allison said, she spoke highly of Gerard and her family, they truly were her only family she has ever had and she loves them all, I could see that.


“But Abigail would not be with us for long. Sadly we got involved with a terrible vampire war in the north. The year was 1952 and many nomadic vampires were trying to take control of Canada and the northern half of America with their army of newborn vampires. We got involved with some other peaceful vampires like ourselves and fought against them. Abigail was one who died during the battle. A few humans were killed during the battle but one survived thanks to Allison.” Gerard said smiling over at Allison and Kellan.


“Kellan was our latest addition and Allison begged me to change him for her, he was one of the casualties during the war.” Gerard said.


“I was living in the mountains of Wisconsin when all of this happened. It was late one night and I heard great commotion and thought it was rock slide when I looked out my cabin window and saw many people fighting. One woman came into my room and attacked me, but Allison stopped her. My little crazy pixie.” He said as he kissed her on the neck.


“So I fell in love with him at first sight and Gerard changed him.” Allison said and they smiled, “We were married in June of 1960 in Ireland.” Allison said.


“When were you two married?” I asked Hugh and Thea.


“In 1900 in the Notre Dame Cathedral.” Hugh said and Thea sighed in his arms.


“So that is our story until we found you. Our newest member.” Gerard said smiling at me.


“Wow, that’s an amazing story.” I said and he laughed.


“Yeah, you’re sitting in a room with a 700 year old, a few 300-200 year olds, and couple of 70-100 year old vamps.” Gerard said and we all laughed.


“So, what was this about powers?” I asked.


“Ah, well each of us after being turned into a vampire have one or more of our senses enhanced that we used more in our life. Orlando and Hugh both can change emotions. Orlando, Allison, and Robert can read minds, Robert can also control things with his mind, while Allison can also create force fields with her mind and see the future. Kellan was strong in his former life so he has extra vampire strength and is a protector, he protects others with whatever he can, his mind, his strength, his emotions.” Gerard said.


“In my past life I was the oldest, so I did whatever I could to protect my family.” Kellan said.


“Elijah can also change emotions and can shape shift along with Lynn who can also be very compassionate. Thea can control things with her mind and can be invisible. I am practically immune to blood since I work with it in my career field and I am also a healer. Can heal practically any wound, vampire or non vampire wound, but sometimes my skills don’t work as well as they should.” He said looking over at Elijah who looked ready to kill something.


“We will know what you powers are within the next few months once you get use to this lifestyle.” Gerard said looking away from Elijah and back at me.


“So what do you all do for careers?” I asked and Gerard laughed.


“Elijah and I are the only ones who work. Elijah is a lawyer, Lynn stays at home like a stay home mom, and I am of course a doctor. The rest of you act like high schoolers.” Gerard said and I looked at him shocked.


“How does Kellan, Orlando, and Hugh pass for High School freshman?” I asked and they laughed.


“When we start off in a new town, like we do every 10 years, we pose as sophomores. Allison, Thea, and Robert pose as Freshman. Gerard poses as a young 28 year old young new doctor and we are all his adopted children.” Orlando stated and I nodded my head.


“You can now pass as another Freshie like us!” Allison said excitedly.


“Wait are we moving already?” I asked surprised.


“Well, next year we will. We’ve been here too long. I can only pass up until around 35 years old. I am already pushing 37.” Gerard said and I nodded my head.


“Oh and you all are supposedly away at college?” I asked.


“Yup. Sometimes we actually do go to college for some fun nearby, but most of the time, we stay at home after we graduate high school.” Kellan said and I looked at them confused.


“Wait were does all this money come from?” I asked and they all gave evil smirks.


“Well, we have our own personal stock watcher here and Elijah and I have saved up over the years. We are practically billionaires if you wanted a price range.” Gerard said and I felt my nonexistent stomach drop.


“Oh…My…God!” I said softly as they all giggled at my reaction.


“So what do you guys do for fun?” I asked and the kids got evil smirks while Elijah went upstairs and Gerard and Lynn shook their heads at the kids.


“Have you ever seen the Fast and Furious?” Kellan said with a evil smirk.

Anyhoo what an awesome chapter, our history is AMAZING! And as a history minor in school, I appreciate you bringing every kind of world history in there especially the piracy in Charleston and Revolutionary War and not just cuz I'm in there. I love the American Revolution period, I'm actually in the middle of writing a new story about that time period, it's actually cool.

Sorry once again for the belated reply. The fact is, when I'm in TS I check my mail via my iPhone, and it doesn't stay connected for the time it takes me to post replies, and when I'm home, things are helplessly rushed. I'm reading... well, CLINGING to this story would be a better explanation!

I LOVED all of their past histories... especially the fact the 'twins' are really twins because they were turned the same night... and why? Because they were duelling each other, silly boys! *imagine me ruffling their hair now* and the Brits interrupting the wedding, aha!

NEW CHAPTER!!

Chapter 6- Shut Up and Drive


I followed everyone outside of the large house to the front yard, which had a roundabout pull up drive way with a fountain in the middle of the grassy land that stretched on next to the drive out for miles.


“How far away from the nearest town are we?” I asked and they all laughed.


“Not far, about 10 miles. Just outside of Buffalo.” Kellan replied as he was holding Allison small hand next to them was Hugh and Thea and he had his arm around her shoulder’s as they walked. They headed to the right and about a few feet away from the house where the drive pulled up to was what looked to be a small house and it was actually the garage once the large garage door opened.


Inside it was a car maniac and mechanic’s dream, chrome and steel shined everywhere. I felt my jaw drop at all the famous expensive names I saw on all the cars in front of me Porsche, Lamborghini, BMW, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Mercedes, Viper, and Volvo.


“Oh…my…” I started to say.


“Yeah, we get that reaction a lot when we drive them out in public.” Hugh said laughing.


“Uh….whose car is whose?” I asked and they took me on down the line in almost a car show tour.


“Our first car we have today is Dr. Gerard’s Mercedes S550.” Robert said pointing out the sleek and shiny black car, “And his other toy bike is his BMW K 1200 GT Motorcycle.” Robert said pointing out the silver motor speed cycle next to it.


“Our next car is Lynn’s Jeep Liberty.” Orlando said and Allison began becoming Vana White showing off the cars with her hands. It was a nice Green Jeep and I could see Lynn in that, wanting to be the Soccer mom type.


“Our next car is my own baby, my Volvo S60.” Robert said and Allison did another showing of his car and it was a beautiful silver Volvo that looked like it was made for speed.


“Next we have my Porsche Carrera GT.” Orlando said showing off his silver Porsche.


“Next is Hugh’s Dodge Viper.” Robert said and his viper looked gorgeous in a dark green color, “Then we have Thea’s Lamborghini Diablo.” He said and the sleek black car looked amazing next to the dark green viper.


“Then we have Kellan’s two cars, his actual car and his toy bike. His car is a Ferrari Scaglietti.” The white silver car looked amazing and then next to it, “This is his BMW Motorcycle.” Orlando said and it was a motorcycle in the same color as his car and looked fast and fun.


“Next we have my car, my Lamborghini Murcielago.” Allison said laying on the hood of her car and petting it. It was bright yellow and fit her perfectly.


“And moving on from Allison molesting her car, we have Elijah’s…”Orlando started to say.


“BORING Ford Escape.” Allison chimed in jumping off her car and looking at her brother’s car, “He should’ve gotten a fancier or faster car, it’s not like we don’t have the money.” She said and I tried to contain my laughter, I like his car it was simple and classic, but evidently they all felt he should’ve had something better.


“So that concludes the tour. Until you get a car we are willing to let you borrow one of these to drive tonight for our game.” Robert said and I looked over the cars to think about which one I wanted to borrow.


“Can I borrow Gerard’s Mercedes?” I asked and they all smiled.


“Sure.” Robert said.


“But first, we need to take you car shopping. TO THE INTERNET!” Allison cried and she dragged me to a corner of the garage where there was a desk and a laptop computer, “We have this out here in case of car wrecks or any other serious damage that I can’t fix.” Allison said booting up the laptop and getting the internet up.


“You fix cars?” I asked surprised.


“Yup, just a hobby of mine.” She said.


“A sexy hobby at that!” Kellan called and I heard him get smacked by someone behind us.


“Keep it in your pants babe!” Allison called over her shoulder smirking, “Ok, so we are on Millionaire Car Dealer’s dot com. Pick the type of car you want and we will buy it for you.” Allison said and I started looking over some cars and then I saw it, my dream car. My car I’ve always wanted for years.


“That one.” I said and Allison smiled.


“Good choice.” She said and she hit the buy button and we bought the car for 10 million dollars. It was new and never used and had some added on features like a better sound system, a faster engine, and a dvd player and screens in the back seats. The car I bought was a BMW Mini Cooper Convertible in light royal blue.


After that we all got into our respectable cars, everyone had car’s no speed bikes since it wasn’t fair and drove out of the garage and down the long winding drive. We finally reached the road and drove down it. I followed everyone not knowing where the hell we were going, then we finally reached a deserted old highway and got out.


“Alright everyone, here are the rules, no cheating and no vampire powers to help you win, got it?” Thea said to everyone and they all nodded, “We are going from this marker all the way down to the 40 marker.” She said and everyone listened as she pointed out the directions.


“Good, now lets race!” She cried and we all raced each other.


The funniest race was Kellan against his wife.


“Alright pixie! You ready to get your ass kicked?” Kellan asked and Allison just revved her engine and grinned a evil grin.


“Shut up and drive.” She said as the flag was waved and she put the pedal to the medal and was a speed demon and Kellan was so thrown off guard because of his taunting that he didn’t notice Thea wave the flag and he speed up and tried to beat her but she kicked his ass.


We all were cracking up laughing and Allison played Shut Up and Drive through her speakers as a victory song.


The final race was down between me and Orlando.


“Alright newbie, you ready for a lesson in speed driving?” Orlando called and I just smirked.


“Oh please dear master teach me, after you’ve eaten my dust.” I said and then the flag was waved and we both put the pedal to the metal but Orlando didn’t realize how fast the Mercedes could go and I kicked his but by 3 inches. Muwhahaaaa!


“I think you have some learning to do.” I said getting out of the car and leaning in through his window to talk to him and he frowned a little but laughed.


“I guess I do.” He said and I laughed we both drove back to the starting point to meet up with everyone and then we all drove back home as dawn approached.


“This is weird not being able to sleep.” I stated as we all left the garage to go back inside.


“You get use to it.” Allison said and I smiled.


“Thanks, I’m glad am becoming more a part of the family.” I said and Kellan picked me up in a bone crushing hug.


“Aww! We love having a new member in the family too. We now have someone new to pick on.” He said and all the boys laughed and Thea smacked Hugh.


“Hey!” He said and she stuck her tongue out at him.


“Be nice.” She said.


“Who’s up for some Guitar Hero?!” Orlando called and we all raced back into the house for a rousing game of vampire style of Guitar Hero.

Hey everyone! :hug: Thanks for all your kind reviews. I wanted to update you all on the story and the next chapter won't be posted for another week or so. The reaosn being is I was out of town for the past two weeks because my uncle passed away and I just got home yesterday and I haven't really had time to write, but I have some time this week and I have other stories and things to work on at the same time so hopefully the next chapter will be up within the next week.

Chapter 7- Hearing Things


3 Months Later


I was sitting in my room resting early one morning trying to relax and get rid of a headache I had had for two days, I kept hearing buzzing noises in my head and once in a while phrases or words from other voices or from the rest of us in the house. It was driving me nuts. But suddenly the loud buzzing stopped and one voice became clear.


Should I wear the blue or the white skirt today? Allison asked herself.


“The blue skirt Allison!” I called to her.


“Thanks Kat!” She called back. How the hell did she hear me? Allison said and I chuckled she evidently forgot we have strong hearing. Suddenly she had a vision that I could see. She saw me learning about my power, which was mind reading and I could also see the future.


“Whoa!” We both screamed at the same time. We both jumped up and ran down the hall and met up with each other.


“WE HAVE THE SAME POWER!” We both screamed in each other’s faces.


“That’s why you could hear me and you’ve had that headache because of the buzzing noises, it’s because your power had started and now you are starting to learn how to control it!” Allison said.


“Oh my God!” I said and she ran down stairs and called everyone into the living room. I went downstairs and I could hear each of their voices in their heads.


I hope this isn’t another meeting about that new car she wants. Gerry said in his head.


I hope it’s that Kathleen finally has found her power. Lynn said in her head.


This better be important, Alli knows I was watching the game. Kellan thought in his head.


“Everyone, Kat and I have an announcement.” Allison said, “We have figured out her power, well powers.” Allison said.


“What is it?” Gerry asked curious now and everyone else looked excited.


“I can read minds and Allison saw that I soon will be able to see the future.” I said and everyone smiled and voiced their congrats outloud.


Crap this means she could’ve heard me say I like her. Orlando thought and then I looked at him.


I can hear you, you know. I said looking at him.


“Shit!” Orlando said putting his head in his hands, if he could blush he would be blushing right now.


I wonder what it was she heard him say, that he has had some very interesting daydreams about her, which involve a hot tub and no clothes. Robert thought and then I looked at him with wide eyes.


He thought what?! I said to him and he laughed hysterically.


Yup, he did. Robert said and if I could blush I would be right now too.


“Hello! I can hear you too! And I will kill you later for that.” Orlando said to Robert and Robert laughed hysterically.


“Ok that was too much information that I did NOT want to know.” Allison said shuddering.


“Oh great, more inside conversations.” Kellan said in a huff.


“Alright, since we have figured out that this is true with her mind reading part, let’s watch her over the next couple of days to see how the psychic powers come into play.” Gerry said and we all nodded our heads.


Do you want to go for a walk? Robert asked me.


Yeah, I would like that, to get away from other voices right now. I need a break, do I always feel weak after this? I asked him and he shook his head.


No that only happens when you first start to really use your power, the weakness part will go away in a few days. Robert replied. I got up and he got up and we walked towards the door.


“Where are you two going?” Gerry asked.


“They are going on a walk.” Orlando said looking still upset over me finding out his true feelings for me, but why did I have a feeling that part of his feelings were jealousy, he was blocking his thoughts from me to find out, by going over the Spanish alphabet.


“Alright have fun.” Lynn said and we left.


“So, I’ve been meaning to ask you, how do you like it with us? Now that you’ve lived with us for a few months to get the feel of our family.” Robert said and I chuckled.


“I like it, a lot. Allison is like a sister I never had, Thea is great to talk to about books, music, and such. Kellan is just like my big brother, Gerry and Lynn are the perfect parents, Hugh and Orlando are great and really sweet guys and are really funny. But Elijah seems so distant, I wish he wasn’t, I mean if I am to be his sister and take his last name I wish he would talk to me and like me more.” I said and Robert shook his head.


He can’t forget Abigail. But what do you think about me? He said in his head.


“I really like you Robert, you are great, funny, and sweet. You and Orlando seem a lot alike and are very close from what I can tell.” I said.


Well it seems we have too many things in common. He thought bitterly.


“What was that?” I asked confused.


“Nothing, well I am glad you like it here with us. You’ve been doing well hunting and getting use to it more.” He said and I smiled.


“Thanks, but I have a feeling I am going to lose it at some point if I smell a human. I am afraid to go near humans.” I said and he read my mind and I could see him looking through my past and the reason why I feared to go near humans, I was afraid I would run into my family and feed on them.


You really do miss your family huh? He asked.


Yes, I some days can replace them with all of you but then there are some days where they will come into my memory and I miss them and my non beating heart aches. I responded and I could feel the burn of tears that would never fall.


I know the feeling, it was like that at first for me and for all of us. Robert said and then he suddenly stopped walking and pulled me into his arms for a hug.


“It will be ok, I promise, eventually you will learn to live without them, like you would when you moved out into the real world for the first time.” He whispered into my hair.


“I know it just sometimes is so hard.” I said and he kept smoothing my hair to soothe me.


You know I like you too, as much as Orlando does too. That’s why I thought we were too much alike. Robert thought and I looked up to see him eyes full of love and I knew he was true. I tried to distract my mind as I admitted to myself that I was starting to love them both the same too.


“Why are you singing the song ‘My Immortal’ in your head? Are you blocking something from me?” He asked and I laughed.


“Yes, sometimes I don’t want you to know everything about me.” I said and I started to walk away.


“You know that’s not very nice, to block someone and then walk away like that. It’s rude.” Robert called jokingly.


“What are you gonna do about it?” I called back over my shoulder and suddenly I felt him tackle me from the back and we toppled down onto the dew covered grass laughing.


“I’m going to teach you how to be nicer to people!” He said as I laughed underneath him.


“Oh and I can do that by tackling people?” I asked and he laughed.


“No, I just had to get you to stay put so I could teach you.” He said and I laughed, but suddenly we both stopped laughing and just stared into each others eyes.


I meant what I said. I am falling for you hard and fast Kathleen. He said.


I think I am too. I said back and he leaned down and kissed me softly on the lips and I felt an electric shock go through my whole body and I shivered and he pulled me tighter against him and deepened the kiss. Feeling his cool lips against mine, moving so smoothly was the most amazing feeling.


Oh my God. I thought in my head and he chuckled against my lips.


You haven’t seen nothing yet. He said and he began to kiss me more passionately and let his tongue graze my bottom lip and I moaned a little against his lips and opened my mouth slightly to let his tongue have access and his tongue danced with mine. I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck.


Keep going. I said in my head as our heated kissing became more heated. He bit on my lower lip softly.


How far do you want me to go? he asked in his head as he bit on my lower lip and then started to kiss on my jaw line and neck. My breathing was ragged, even though I didn’t need to breathe.


“Robert.” I moaned softly.


“Kathleen.” He moaned against my neck and then I heard a growl and Robert and I pulled away.


“What was that?” I asked him and he looked at me with his breath about as ragged as mine.


“I don’t know, but I think we should head back home.” He said and I nodded my head and he helped me up.


I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that. He said in his head and I spun around to face him.


Don’t be, we both are falling for each other and I actually enjoyed it. I said in my head and we both chuckled and he kissed my lips softly.


“Thank you, for making me feel alive for the first time in hundreds of years.” Robert whispered to me and I smiled.


“You’re welcome.” I said and we headed back home but we both kept thinking about that growl we heard and how familiar it had sounded.
