Title: Let The Spirits Witness
Mena - December 12, 2003 12:20 PM (GMT)
I don't know actually what am I supposed to write in here... a lil about me, even if there's not much to say.
How can I start? I'm the ordinary kind. But I guess, everyone in here is. Come on, no one of us ever saved the world or won a Grammy, but when I talk to u girls, you have nothing of ordinary!
So, why am I here? To read, of course, and to write. I've always loved writing, I started writing poems when I was 6 years old... for me writing is a way to escape from reality, even if, honestly, I got nothing to escape from.
I told you I'm the ordinary kind! I'm 20 and attend university in Trieste, that's in the north east of Italy, 150 km far from home. I come back on weekends, but I learnt that being alone, even if it's only for 5 days per week, makes you grow up inside. I love my parents and my lil sis (not that little, she's 19 now), have a boyfriend and friends.
I can say I'm happy, I never experienced very sad occurrings... yeah, teenage angst was pretty hard to me, but I guess I was not the only one.
I study foreign languages, I have an insane love for them, I'd love to learn everything... but I guess for the moment English, Spanish and French will do :P
My dream? Peace of mind. May sound rather dull, but I had to face myself and my "small" problems for so much time, that I discovered that peace is the most important thing, no matter if ur a criminal or a movie star.
I told u writing is a way to escape... maybe from nowhere, but it doesn't matter. Have you ever heard that Smashing Pumpkins song where Billy Corgan sings like:
" fear that I'm ordinary, just like everyone
To lie here and die among the sorrows
Adrift among the days
For everything I ever said
And everything I've ever done is gone and dead"
(S.P., muzzle)
maybe it's my way to feel special... I'm totally unable to take compliments for granted, every time I'm told I'm good it's like I hear it for the first time.
And, as I love the style of a lot of people here, I get so honored sometimes! As I told Andie once... imagine: you make a movie, you never acted before and you have an extremely low self esteem... so, you make this movie, ok? And it blows, everywhere you start meeting people like "ooohhh girl I'm a big fan of yours!" and it's cool. And one day, you are sitting in a pub, and Orlando Bloom walks in and tells you that you made such a great job and he's honored to meet you...
well, receiving compliments from you it's like having Orlando Bloom asking for your autograph.
uhm... I guess the last part made you understand how insane I am... so, I'll better shut up here. Thanks for checkin me out!
love,
Mena

(I haven't read Lestat or QotD in a long time. Mekare lost her toungue and Maharet her eyes...or is it the other way around?) |
Mekare's in Queen of the Damned? I've seen the movie and I've heard the book was great but I don't think I'd be reading it any time soon.

Someone is a die-hard Anne Rice fan, just like me :lalala:
Couldn't help commenting on that. I read your profile, and understood the "Mekare" refrence ^_^
Kindred spirits, baby, kindred spirits...

Lol cool! My neighbour hass all these Anne Rice books in her apartment, I should go over one day in a vampire/witch outfit with a red wig and tell her my name is Mekare and that I'm gonna suck her blood.... *snorts*
justbishop - January 7, 2004 01:10 AM (GMT)
Actually, if you were trying to be an authentic Mekare, I don't think you'd want to speak...
(I haven't read Lestat or QotD in a long time. Mekare lost her toungue and Maharet her eyes...or is it the other way around?)
I think going over and borrowing those books is a great idea ^_^

I'm not really good at reading books. Seriously. It takes me ages to read, not cause I'm a slow reader it's just that I can't seem to sit still for long enough. You know what I mean..

OMG, so true!!!!! The movie version of Interview was a pretty good adaption, due to the fact that Ms. Rice actually wrote the screenplay. QotD, however, DID totally blow! It was chock full of scenes that caused those of us who had read the book to shout phrases like "nuh uh!" " It didn't happen that way," and "that's just stupid!"
The movie was made for and marketed to the gothified american teen, NOT the readers who loved and respected Anne Rice's work, and who had been anticipating an amazing visual experience that did justice to the mental experience that the book provided.
To put it bluntly, it just p*ssed me off!
*throws temper tantrum*
