Billy almost died
Billy Boyd aka Pippin from "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, declared he almost died last year, during a break in South Africa. As he was filming "Save Angel Hope" in one of the world's surfing hotspots, he decided he would extend the shoot into a holiday. He said: "I was able to stay on for a couple of weeks and I headed for Durban to do some surfing."


The star was convinced he will die when a giant wave hit him and drag him to the bottom of the sea, during a surf session.


He recalls, "It was horrible, I was trapped on the sea bed, being held down by a wave and I thought, 'Is it going to end like this?'


"I was honestly just sitting on the bottom of the sea thinking, 'I can't move. What am I going to do here?' You just have to hope that the wave passes in time and when it did, I just swam to the light."


Boyd confessed it was really hard for him to pull away from this traumatic memories in order to film his latest movie "On A Clear Day", in which he plays a man who swims the English Channel.

Well, sounds pretty frightening too me, then again I already don't like the open water to begin with. If this is true than he's very determined. If that would have happened too me, there be no price you could pay me to get back in the sea...

Oh gosh, that's scary. I'm glad he made it, though. It's really weird, because this is just like what happened to Viggo while making the Two Towers. They were filming the scene where Aragorn fell over the cliff into the river, and the current pulled him under for a good few minutes before he managed to kick his way free. *hears Twilight Zone music*
