A/N: I found this on my laptop yesterday. It was written about two years ago for a challenge with someone (hence the excessive cereal-mentioning), but in the end I wrote another story for that, Given Unsought. Anyway, I dusted it off a little and decided to post it. Dialogue-only.
Potential Lovers
“I can’t understand how you can eat that shit.”
“These are cereals, Karl. A highly nutritious and healthy start of the day, I would say, and about the farthest removed from shit as possible.”
“It was just an expression, Vig. And besides, since when are you so passionate about your breakfast?”
“Ever since I discovered the joys of Frosted Toasty O’s.”
“What’s in a name? Anyway--”
“That which we call a rose by any other name would sm--”
“Shut up, show-off. Listen, I wanted to talk to you about the scene.”
“The scene?”
“Yes, the scene. You’re in a movie, remember? Not in some cereal commercial.”
“I know that.”
“I’m glad you do. Now—”
“Shame though. I’d get paid to eat cereals!”
“—I was wondering how we should portray their relationship. Of Aragorn and Éomer, I mean. ‘Cause, you know, they’re like brothers, in a way, don’t you think?”
“You know how I see them?”
“Well?”
“As potential lovers.”
“Excuse me?”
“Yeah, definitely. I’m sure they made love somewhere along the lines. And if they haven’t, I’m sure they would have liked it.”
“You’re insane.”
“No, I’m serious.”
“That’s what’s so insane about it.”
“Karl, think about it. A Ranger and a Rider of Rohan. It makes so much sense!”
“A Ranger and an Elf, that makes sense.”
“Yes, I suppose Aragorn and Legolas also have their charm, but—”
“I meant Arwen, idiot. I’m sure Tolkien is turning in his grave now.”
“Oh come on, Karl, unwind! Here, take some cereals, I’m sure they’ll help.”
“I don’t want your cereals. And stop looking at me like I’m a terminal patient.”
“I’m just thinking… yeah… maybe you should kiss me.”
“Kiss you?!”
“Yes, kiss me. I want to make you understand my point.”
“Vig, you have absolutely no point. Besides, I’d rather kiss a horse.”
“And how about Éomer? Do you think he’d rather kiss a horse than Aragorn?”
“How am I supposed to know!”
“You play him, Karl, you ought to know.”
“Alright. Well, let me think for a minute and reach deep inside Éomer’s mind… Hold on, almost there… Almost… Ye-e-es. Well. I think I can safely state that Aragorn would probably rank lowest on his Kiss Wish List.”
“Don’t be so sure.”
“What are you—mhh! ngh! …mmm…”
“See?”
“Potential lovers.”
“I told you so. Want some cereals?”

You know what i love about your stuff, it comes so smooth that when i read it, in my mind those hot and totally straight men effortlessly and flawlessly turn into not-so-straight-anymore individuals and it is totally believable!!
