Okay, so I've been a good girl and tried to keep from putting up a call until I'd figured out some sort of outline, and I think I've got a good portion of it done, so now I want to get to working on a cast, with names and such.
This is a prom story. It will cover the day before (preparations are b*tches!), the actual dance, the after party, and some sort of epilogue concerning the aftermath.

Personality: Atheist, very outgoing, kinda silent sometimes ... Owns a snake and a tarantula. 'Nuff said? lol, jk. Umm...a little shy at first, but I warm to most people rather quickly. Most. Not all. I can be horribly spiteful, catty, mean, etc., but only if you give me good reason to be. Very cynical (especially about love and all that relates to it), I can be really cold and distant towards others. I act a little haughty when I'm uncomfortable. I am extremely loyal to friends, and would do just about anything to make them feel better. Honestly, I can be a little judgemental. Most of the time, I'll be able to change my mind, but sometimes there's just some little thing that will get under my skin, and I won't be able to justify my feelings about someone, I just won't like them. My natural defense mechanism is scorn. I can be so bitchy if there's something about you that I don't like, no matter what it is. Especially if it's something that I can't explain. I find it really hard to forgive and forget. My best friend in third grade told the boy I had a crush on that I liked him, and I haven't talked to her since. If someone fails to keep a secret of mine, I will probably never forgive you. I am a very vengeful person. I swear a lot. Like, all the time. I sound like a freaking sailor. It's kinda fun, actually. Also, it's really hard to get me drunk. I'm Scottish and Irish, and I have the constitution of a rock. It's ridiculous. hehe. I bite my nails a little, so I cut them really short in order to prevent that (it doesn't really help all that much). I sing. All the time. My friends say it's really annoying, but I'm always humming part of a tune or whatever. I drum a lot (I'm a percussionist), on tables, books, other people, whatever. I fiddle with things. If I'm wearing a skirt, I'm always playing with the seams and the hems and stuff. I also fidget. I think I have Nervous Leg Syndrome. I'm always in motion; I can't stay still for long periods of time. Because I'm so short, I wear heels a lot, and that makes my feet hurt, so I take them off and walk around barefoot for a while before going on with my day.
Appearance: Five foot, one inch. short-ish platinum hair, usually spiked, wide green eyes. REALLY pale skin, maybe just a few freckles across nose and cheekbones. A little on the chubby side: lots of curves! I basically, whatever I can find at the thrift shop. I love going to thrift shops, I can find whatever I want to wear at that moment. I suppose my style is a little bit of everything. I don't really buy into a stereotype, I just buy what I think looks nice, not what's fashionable. I wear a lot of heavy metal shirts. Likes: Hmmm...let's see. I love classical music, especially that of the Baroque era. It just makes sense to me (I'm one of those annoying people to whom music is instinctive)! I also really like to listen to Irish/Scottish music, Clannad and Steeleye Span, for example. I love (love love love) sappy romance movies, they get me every time. I like cats and big dogs. I love to read, it's a total passion for me. I really like tea (unsweetened, with milk), and coffee is only okay after I pull an all-nighter. BEATLES=LOVE!!! They are amazingly amazing. I have always wanted to go skydiving, I guess it's because I like the thrill of adreneline you get right before doing something dangerous. Roller coasters. I like to dance in social situations, and salsa is WAY cool.
Dislikes: I hate sincere people. Or should I say: falsely sincere people. People who gush when you can tell that they don't care. People who don't seem to understand that when you do the "Suddenly-Look-Away-As-If-You-Heard-Someone-Call-Your-Name-And-Then-Leave" trick, it means you don't want to talk to them, and try to continue the conversation while you are walking away. The dirty kind of scruffy. Early mornings. Breaking the heel of my shoe. Having to work on projects that really don't interest me at all. Personality: Pretty quirky and random. Most of the time I'm nice but I have bitch moments, especially when I'm stressed or suffering from lack of sleep. I'm opinionated and always up for a debate about any issue. I have no tolerance for gay-bashing and homophobia, those kind of people really bother me, and I'm not religious at all, but I respect others beliefs as long as they respect mine. I would do anything for my friends and prefer to have few close friends than a lot of aquaintances. When first getting to know someone I'm usually shy, but I warm up quickly and am pretty outgoing.

So yeah I guess I start with the questions - oh and let me add my own prom was less than a year ago, so I'm still very connected with that sort of feeling. ^_^
Character's Name and Nicknames: Laila Blake (Blake is an anagram to my actual german last name, which not only sucks, but sounds very weird spoken in english...) and believe it or not I have never actually had a nickname. Some people around the board have called me Lais, but that is not something that would make any sense in german, but I guess you could use it, I like it.

What clique?: *lol* Well I was in the kind of clique that everybody eyed suspiciously. We made every bullied new kid feel welcome, until they were confident enough to 'ascend' (or in our eyes descent) to the cooler cliques. We were a small but mixed group of 4 core members, my best friend, brainy and extremely outspoken, a shy asian girl, with no compunctions about politeness, and a rich, spoiled former 'cool' kid I knew since kindergarden and who came to us after realizing how shallow everybody else was, and well me - the former bully victim, usually top of the class, and teacher's pet. No idea how to put that into a stereptype clique - I guess the ones that didn't really fit in anywhere else.
Personality: Outspoken with people I know, shy with strangers and people I like but am convinced they don't like me, proud of not fitting in with most cliques in high school, ambitious about grades and actually thriving on teachers' good opinions of me, hopefully creative, hopelessly romantic (which basically means bitter cause I know how hopeless it is to find what I dream of)...

That was pretty perfect because everybody kept telling me how great my speech was. But to be quite honest I guess the perfect prom would be to make out with a teacher. I can't help it... I'm perverted ;). But I had these teacher-crushes all through high-school and that would have been one hell of a finale. But all in all I think a wonderful date, romantic dancing - not my first time in a hotel *laughs* cheesiest of all times to do it, I would have done it before.
How do you get there?: Well if I have a date, he takes me. For my actually prom I got there with my parents - as did pretty much all the others. Or I might come with my best friend after being at a hairsalon together... we had almost done that.

Personality: Southern Baptist for religion. Very shy when first meeting people, especially boys. A total drama queen, probably worried about getting into a good college. Once I get to know someone, I can babble on and on and act really silly around them without being shy at all. Okay, so I think that's enough. It'll be hard enough juggling eleven storylines, but I'm trying to make this about the characters rather than focusing on one, ya know?

As for the story, I've started outlining seven of the storylines (finished three!) and have notes for the other five, but I have no idea when I should plan to have this out. With summer, I should have a lot more time and inspiration than during the school year, and I hope I'll have it out sometime during the summer, but I'd like to have at least ten chapters finished before I start... so, no definites, no promises here.
I'll keep you all posted though.
