Finals make you dreamy, and well... Seeing as I don't have to study so much today, I decided to finally scribble it down...
A little disclaimer: I do not know or own Billy Boyd and this thing is fiction. Certain facts have been altered as you later may realise but they're essential for the story. I know that Billy has a girlfriend and a son, and I don't mean to deny either of them. Ali, Jack, he's all yours!
Only differences between the story and reality are that a) I'm not in love with Billy, B) I'm not Jane, c) I'm not 24 d) I'm not in college but in grammar school...
----Material----
“Jane, you’ve been studying all day,” Billy says softly, his arms sneaking around my waist. I smile as I feel his warm, stubbly cheek against my own.
“I know, Billy,” I say softly. “But I have to get a good grade, you know? After tomorrow I’ve got two glorious months in which you’ll be the centre of my world.” Billy rolls his eyes at my dramatic description, and then presses a kiss on my cheek.
“Still, you’re coming with me. You still need to eat,” he says.
“Billy, I still have to do three chapters!” I protest, but he won’t hear it. I give up, and follow him into the kitchen. I gasp as I see the work he has done to make the dinner table and dinner look nice. It’s lasagne, and on my plate is a single red rose, and a lit candle is next to our plates.
“Oh Billy,” I say softly, and he nuzzles my neck.
“Do you like it?” he asks softly. I turn around in his arms and press a soft kiss on his lips.
“I love it,” I reply. He pulls my chair out for me, and then sits down opposite to me. The lasagne tastes great, and I look at the great man sitting across the table. When we met we had a chemistry, but neither of us acted upon it. After all, there’s fourteen years between the two of us! When we met I had just turned twenty-two, and Billy was thirty-six. But now, I can’t imagine my life without him.
“Remember the night we got together?” Billy asks softly, reading my mind.
“Like I could forget,” I reply. “That’s a night that has lingered in my mind ever since it occurred.” Billy smiles, and leans in to kiss me. His soft warm lips remind me of that night...
“Jane, are you planning on coming out?” I roll my eyes as I finish my eye make-up. I’ve had a crush on Billy for almost nine months now, and I feel like the weight of my secret is getting heavier and heavier. I know that I’m going to blurt it out tonight, and I guess I should tell him. He has the right to know, but still I fear for our friendship.
“Jane!”
“Shut up, Kim!” I yell at my roommate. “I’m done, okay? How do I look?” I ask as I walk out of the bathroom. Kim looks at me, her eyes ravishing my new dress. Billy told me to dress up, so well I did. I chose a black, ankle-length dress and silver shoes to match. My eye make-up is light and only meant to accent my individual features. I’m wearing a bit of pink lip gloss, and around my neck is the pendant Billy bought me. It’s a silver circle, with a sentence in a foreign language engraved in it. He told me that he would translate it for me when time was right, and so far time hasn’t been right yet.
“You look gorgeous!” Kim says, and touches the pendant.
“Do you think Billy will finally give you the translation?” she asks, her eyes twinkling. I roll my eyes. Though I never told her that I like Billy, she guessed on her own. She hasn’t been direct about what Billy told her, but there is definitely something that Kim is holding back from me. But when I’m about to ask, the doorbell rings. I open the door, and there is Billy. He looks smashing in his dark blue tuxedo, and butterflies roam in my stomach. He smiled, and kisses my cheek.
“This one is for you,” he then says, showing me a single white rose. I smile, and invite him in as I put it in water. Kim just winks at me, and then exchanges a look with Billy. What is going on between those two, I wonder? I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
After a wonderful dinner, and hours of talking, Billy takes my hand gently. I shiver under his touch, and he looks at me with those beautiful eyes.
“I have a confession to make,” he says softly. “I think I’m falling in love.” I feel my heart sink to my stomach, and look down at my empty plate. Billy chuckles softly.
“With you, lass,” he says. Now he’s got my attention! “I’ve liked you since I first met you. But because of the age difference I didn’t think it’d work out... I know that there’s fourteen years between us, but you’re so mature and I just... It doesn’t bother me anymore, I just wanna be with you.” I blush, and feel his thumb absently caressing my hand.
“Billy... I don’t know what to say,” I reply shyly. “I noticed the chemistry between us, and when I heard that you’re thirty-six I thought my crush would die a quick, painless death. Nothing was more untrue. I’ve been falling for you, despite the age difference and despite any differences between our worlds.” Billy chuckles, and then calls a waiter.
“Could we get the bill, please?” he asks. The waiter nods, and though I don’t believe the amount of money Billy is spending on me tonight, he shoots me a look as if he knows what I’m thinking and that I shouldn’t worry about it.
We leave the restaurant in a comfortable silence, and I don’t ask where we are going when he drives to the opposite direction of my apartment. Billy stops at his own apartment building, and opens the door for me, being the gentleman that he is. When he closes the door behind us, he looks at me with a look that would probably melt ice. He steps closer to me, and kisses me with a passion I didn’t expect. I kiss him back just as passionate, and allow his hands to roam over my body. This could be interesting...
“I should get back to my studying,” I say softly when we have finished out dinner. Billy nods, and I walk back to my books. For some reason I can’t really focus, and my fingers search the cool metal of the pendant I still wear. He still hasn’t told me the translation, and I’m really wondering what it says. It’s been two years since we got together, and we’ve had a good relationship. Off course there was the odd fight, but it doesn’t compare to the great times we’ve had together. He took me out occasionally, but not too often. Now we’re living together because both of us are in a bit of financial situation, so to say. Billy, after all, is a bookbinder, and though we can get around it is much cheaper for us to live together. I’m in my final year of College, studying English.
I sometimes see a wistful look in his eyes when I’m talking about school, but he loves his job to death and performing in the pubs is something he also loves. I finally find my concentration, and start studying the last three chapters of the book...
“Billy! I passed! I’m done! It’s over!” I shout excitedly, and Billy smiles, spinning me around in the air. Though I have to find a job now, I’m going to take it easy the next couple of months. I promised Billy that I would spend more time with him, because he felt a bit neglected with my exams and all.
“I’m so happy for you, lass,” he says softly, and presses a kiss on my lips. I kiss him back, and I hear someone cough in the background. I blush as I see that it’s Evan, a guy who is in the same class as me.
“Never knew you liked old men,” he says with a sly grin. He asked me out a couple of times, but I was together with Billy and just don’t like him. There’s something about him that freaks me out.
“Never knew you didn’t,” I reply shortly, and look into his blue eyes. I silently challenge him to insult my boyfriend again, and I’m glad that he doesn’t. He just walks away, and I look after him angrily. “Ass.” I mutter under my breath. Billy chuckles, and then takes my hand.
“Come on, lass,” he says softly. “Let’s go home.” I smile, and the drive home is comfortable. I’ve got my diploma in my pocket and a sweet boyfriend next to me. What could possibly go wrong now?
When we get home, I gasp to see that Billy has once again outdone himself. There is a single red rose on the table, with an envelope. I look into the familiar green eyes, and he just smiles. I walk over to the table, and open the envelope.
My sweet Jane,
For two years, ten months and fifteen days I have been admiring you. Two years and seven months ago I gave you a pendant, promising you to translate it for you one day. Today is the day that you will find out what it says.
From the first moment I met you, I knew that one day I would be asking you this question, for yes, on your pendant is a question. One that has been burning on my tongue for so long already.
‘Heirate mir’ is what it says. What it means... Marry me. Make me the happiest man on Earth, and be my wife.
With all my love,
Billy
I turn around to see Billy slowly approach me, and he sinks onto one knee, showing me a beautiful ring. It is a platinum band with a few small sapphires embedded in it. When he puts the ring onto my finger I sink onto the floor next to him, smile and kiss him.
“Yes, yes, off course I will,” I reply. Billy smiles, and then hugs me tightly.
“I love you, Jane,” he whispers into my hair.
“I love you too, Billy,” I reply softly. “I love you too...”
----End of Material----

Love, Moon
Ohmygoodness. This was so sweet! Okay, I don't have much time for a decent reply since I've got to go off to school soon, but you started off my day PERFECTLY!!! I was feeling really overwhelmed, too. So, yay!
Pssh. *smacks Evan* You're just jealous cuz he's 36 and still much hotter than you could ever be. Scottish and experienced and green eyes. Or ass and not Scottish and petty? Do we even need to compare?
