*Chapter 1*

A loud alarm clock rang through a house early in the morning. It was so early that the sun was barely peaking from outside. In the house, there lived three women with three very different lives, three different backgrounds and three different personalities.

But they were best of friends none the less. They all were not morning people.

“KATIE!!! TURN OFF THAT STUPID ALARM NOW OR I’LL KICK YOUR ASS!” one of the females yelled from a bedroom.

The woman with the annoying alarm clock poked her head out of the covers and groaned loudly when she realized that the loud bussing noise was indeed her alarm clock. She opened her eyes and her eyes were blurry as she read 6:45am.

She groaned and stretched out her arms out, but her right arm hit a hard back. She turned her head slowly and smiled as she recognized her now fiancé sleeping peacefully next to her. She hated him for sleeping like the dead.

“KATIE! If you had a heart whatsoever, you’d turn off that stupid thing NOW!” The other female voice yelled.

“SHUT IT BOTH OF YA!” Katie yelled back at her roommates and turned off her alarm clock. It was not her fault that her alarm clock did not have a radio for the alarm. As a matter of fact, it was Gerry’s fault. Usually everything was his fault or she liked to think.

Gerard Butler, Gerry to his family and friends, was her best friend and soulmate. She knew she laid eyes on him that he was the one for her, only it took him two years to figure that out, but none the less, he did propose to her last night and she accepted. She smiled and ran her hand through his long black hair before yawning and getting up to take her shower.

Katie walked out of her bathroom to see Gerry sitting up in her bed waiting for her. He smiled big when he glanced up and saw her only in her green silk bathrobe that he had bought for her Christmas the previous year.

“Morning love,” He said and she smiled back as she leaned over the bed and kissed him gently on the lips. He smiled and kissed her back and frowned when his lips met cold air.

“Sorry Gerry, I have to be in a bit early, Sam’s bringing in Scout and Jack her dogs in for a check-up early before the rush.” She said as she put on black jeans and a baby blue polo shirt along with her white doctor’s jacket.

Gerry frowned as he placed on his boxers and jeans along with his black t-shirt that had been discarded from their love-making the previous night.

“Are they okay?” he asked curiously and she had to smile at his concern for other people’s pets even though he has only met Sammy twice. Sammy the coolest secretary in the world at the veterinarian office that made her and her partner’s Amber’s lives a lot easier.

“Yeah they are fine, just regular check-ups. Speaking of which, I think Erik needs his soon too.” She replied as they both headed out of her bedroom and Katie reached over and pounded on an open door.

“Lizzy! Time to wake up Sunshine!” Katie said cheerfully and dodged the incoming pillow that hit Gerry in the face. His eyes went wide as the pillow fell onto the floor.

“Hey! What did I do?” He whined and she rolled her eyes and picked up the pillow while handing it to him.

“Hit her with it, I don’t care. I need to get M.J. up. She’s got class at nine and likes to get there at 8:55.” She rolled her eyes and then glanced at her last roommate’s door which was closed. That was the signal if the bedroom door was closed, then the boyfriend had spent the night. She then grinned evilly and pounded on the door while yelling at the top of her lungs becoming the female Tarzan for a few seconds before the door was flew open.

Mary Jane Flynn, M.J. to her friends, was glaring at her and that was not a good thing sometimes. Especially so early in the morning and with her boyfriend Viggo Mortensen.

Katie flashed her an innocent grin, “Morning M.J. Beautiful day isn’t it?”

“Oh shut up, I’m up you ho.” M.J. replied while shutting the door in her face as they laughed and made their way downstairs.

Lady, Katie’s cocker spaniel was waiting patiently for her dog food when they reached the huge kitchen. Katie smiled at her dog and fed her while Gerry fixed them a quick breakfast which consisted of cereal and toast.

Lizzy Andrews made her way into the kitchen a few minutes later fighting back yawns.

“Morning Lizzy, want some breakfast?” Gerry asked her curiously and Lizzy only shook her head.

“Don’t think so, I’m not hungry. You’re lucky I’m even out of bed right now. You know I don’t go to the hospital until around 9am. What is wrong with you both?” Lizzy asked mumbling and then glanced up when she saw Gerry nod to Katie who lifted up her left hand.

It took a minute for Lizzy’s brain to start working, but she screamed loudly and jumped into Katie’s arms.

“Congrats you two, damn Gerry nice rock. I wish Dom would propose to me.” Lizzy said and Katie smiled.

“He will, just stop breaking up with him and he might.” She replied as they hugged once again and then M.J. and Viggo walked into the kitchen hand in hand.

Before anyone could say anything, Lizzy held up Katie’s hand and M.J. screamed loudly while Viggo flinched.

“Oh my God! Congratulations!” M.J. yelled as the three girls hugged while Viggo turned to Gerry who smiled.

“Congratulations are in order I believe, I hope you two will be very happy together.” Viggo said shaking Gerry’s hand.

“Thank ye mate, that means a lot.” Gerry replied as the girls pulled away still gapping at Katie’s engagement ring.

“Well I need to get to work and show Amber and Sammy, let’s all go out to celebrate!” Katie exclaimed and the girls nodded as they started to make their own breakfast. Gerry smiled and took Katie’s hand in his as they went outside to their cars. He leaned over and kissed Katie’s lips softly. She smiled and kissed him back.

“Pick you up at 8?” He asked her softly and she nodded while they kissed once again. They separated and went into their own cars and went their separate directions.

Katie turned into the parking lot of the office she co-owned and operated with her best friend from college Amber Wolfe. They were best friends from the moment they met and currently dating two best friends from Scotland Gerry and Billy Boyd. She turned off the car and glanced to see Amber and Sammy’s cars already there. She grabbed her stuff, locked her door and walked inside.

“Hello and welcome to Above and Beyond Animal Care, how can we help you?...oh it’s only you.” Samantha Greer commented from the front desk.

Katie laughed as she closed the door and threw Sammy her jacket.

“Oh shush, are they ready to go?” Katie asked and Sammy nodded.

“Yeah they are. They just want to get this over with.” Sammy replied as she walked to the back room where the animals were caged. She grabbed her young mutt Scout and handed her to Katie while grabbing her other dog, a Great Dane named Jack.

Katie snorted, “I think their owner feels that way, they know that Dr. Katie would never do anything bad to them. Trust me Sam, I bet everything will be fine. AMBER!” Katie yelled and a head with brownish-red hair popped into the doorway.

“You rang?” Amber asked as she walked in the room.
“Yup, I have something to tell you chicas before the day goes on.” Katie replied as she set Scout down on the table in the middle of the room.

“What is it?” Sam and Amber both asked the same time.

“Gerry finally proposed last night.” Katie announced and their eyes went wide.

“And?!?!” Amber asked excitedly and Katie held up her left hand. Both women screamed and ran over to her and hugged her tightly. Katie laughed and hugged them back and showed them her ring.

“Damn Gerry did a good job picking that rock out!” Sammy commented and Amber laughed.

“We have to celebrate, we’ll close early and party!” Amber exclaimed and Katie nodded.

“Okay great, M.J. and Lizzy are coming too, tell everyone!” She said and they all laughed. Scout barked to get their attention.

Katie smiled at Sammy who did look a bit nervous, “No need to be scared Sam, it’s just a check-up. I’m sure Scout and Jack are fine.” She replied as she lifted up Scout’s ear and took a look inside.

Sammy only nodded as she went outside to start all the paperwork for the rest of the day. All were ready for it to go by fast.

Brilliant start and wonderfuly creative, yet subtle way to introduce some of the characters!

Man i don't blame her for hating him, if I was with a guy who could sleep through my alarm I think I'd kick him outta bed!!

lmao, how did you guess I'd be the one to throw a pillow when I have to get up? That was so perfect! And totally the right reaction!

Ugh how can she be oh-so-chirpy? It's a quarter to 7 for the lords sake woman!!

Because I'm the same way ;) I also had a gut feeling. I wanted the first chapter to show how much the three of us all get along and how well we interact in the morning, afternoon and evening.

In reply to your question I shall say...hmm I'm not actually sure...Ok make it Corona (for the alcoholic drink) and Strawberry milkshake or Dr. Pepper (clearly the non alcoholic ones) but NEVER the three of them TOGETHER!! So if you want to do it, do it asap, I made up someone for the being, but I can always go back and edit it.

I second what Amber said, dancing is always fun. Shakira is also fun to bust a move to. Especially when you are slightly tipsy and you attempt to shake it like Shakira does. Little tip, just because you have big hips like, oh say me, doesn't mean that you will look like Shakira dancing. :blush:

Um...to liven things up you could have the girls hold a contest...a contest to see who can get the most drinks for free. Or have the girls embarass the piss out of Katie by singing "Going to the chapel" or something else ridiculous to her in the bar/club.

Not sure if that helps or not, but that is all I can think of for the moment. Especially since I am supposed to be studying. Gosh, I am so bad.

Thanks to everyone who reviewed!! I'm not really proud of this chapter, but I was stuck. I hope everyone likes it. I promise next chapter it'll be more interesting.

Chapter 2

Katie and Sammy were sitting in Katie’s small office that she shared with Amber when she heard the famous lyrics of Amber’s favorite singer, Madonna.

Sammy rolled her eyes, “Amber don’t quit your daytime job!” while Katie choked on her Mountain Dew.

“Sam! That was mean!” Katie commented while laughing.

“Excuse me, but I am a good singer. Screw you both!” Amber yelled from the examination room where she was examining a friend of her’s cat who was sick.

“Hey I didn’t say anything! It was all Sammy!” Katie yelled back and Sammy glared at her as the phone rang.

“Traitor…Good afternoon and thank you for calling Above and Beyond Animal Care this is Sammy how may I help you?...Gerry shut up, you sound horrible as a woman…it’s the accent dude…here’s your woman…Katie it’s Gerry.” Sammy said handing her the cordless phone.

“No really? I had no idea,” Katie said rolling her eyes and taking the phone away from Sammy. “Hey honey,” she said and Sammy gagged making Katie laugh even though Sammy did have a boyfriend that she cared about deeply.

“Hi Katie love, how are ye doing?” Gerry asked curiously on the other end of the phone.

She laughed, “Well ever since I last saw you, I’m doing okay. And yourself?”

“Good, are ye free this afternoon?” He asked.

“Why? Are you finally bringing Erik in for his annual that should be every six months check-up.” She said.

“Yes I am love, I have a faculty meeting at three, so is around five okay?”

Katie walked in the waiting room and glanced at Sammy’s calendar, “Yeah I’m free come on in honey.”

“Okay great see ye then love. I love ye.” He said softly while smiling.
She smiled back as she walked back into her office,

“I love you too Ger Bear.” She said as they hung up the phone.

Sammy snickered from her seat.

“Ger Bear?”

“Oh shut up, we have pet names for one another.” Katie retorted as she tossed the phone back to Sammy as she sat down at her desk to finish eating.

At five o clock, Katie came out of the back room from feeding the pets when she heard Sammy yelling on someone on the phone.

“Katie does have a cell phone Gerry, it’s called calling that you loser!...I am not a ho you wanker…” Sammy argued as Katie took the phone from her and then waved to Billy Boyd, Amber’s boyfriend sitting there in the lounge.

“Gerry, don’t call Sammy a ho even though she is one, that’s our job. Are you on your way over?”

“Yup I’ll be there in a few love.” Gerry replied as they hung up at the same time.

“Hi Billy.” Katie said a bit loudly because before she could blink, Billy covered her mouth with his hand.

“Shhhh Katie! I don’t want Amber to know I’m here yet. Today’s our one year anniversary!” Billy said and she got quiet, but grinned evilly as she licked Billy’s hand. He yelped loudly as he pushed her away and wiped his hand on his jeans.

The doorbell jiggled and they all turned to see Gerry standing there with a smile on his face and his Scottish terrier named Erik, named after his favorite character in a musical, the Phantom of the Opera.

“Gerry! About time mate.” Billy said as they shook hands and Gerry leaned over to kiss Katie softly on the lips. She kissed him back as Amber walked into the waiting room. Amber smiled as she ran over to Billy and kissed him.

“Come on mate, this was all yer idea. Let’s get it over with.” Gerry said a few minutes later pulling Billy and Amber’s lips a part.

“What idea?” Katie asked and Amber shrugged.

“We have a surprise for ye both. Ye know how you both love it when we sing?” Billy asked and the girls nodded.

“Well we are here to sing ye both a song that ye both love.” Gerry said and the girls squealed with excitement.

Billy then pressed play on the CD player that was placed on Sammy’s desk and the beginning notes of “Your Song” sung by fellow Scot Ewan McGregor began singing.

Many hours and many drinks later, Katie glanced around to see everyone who had come out with them to celebrate her and Gerry’s engagement. She smiled at Gerry who smiled back and kissed her forehead softly as they glanced around at their drunken friends. Besides Amber and Billy, Sammi and her boyfriend Matt, M.J. and Viggo were there along with Lizzy and her boyfriend Dom and Katie’s friend Kamilla and her boyfriend Chad were all sitting around a round booth.

The music was blaring all kinds of music and the group was waiting for a song that they all enjoyed to come on, why “Bad Touch” by the Bloodhound Gang was playing.

“I’d like to say something!” Lizzy said slurring her words a bit as she stood up and faced the group. They all laughed as Dom held her hips in his hands as she swayed and tried to keep her balance.

“Lizzy watch yourself!” Amber said laughing.

“I’d just like to say…shit what was I going to say? Oh yeah, congrats to Katie and Gerry! About time you tamed the wild beast Katie!” Lizzy said as she slumped back onto Dom’s lap with a thud making everyone laugh and drink from their cups or bottles of the alcoholic drinks.

Katie gave Amber an evil grin and said loudly, “Today is also Billy and Amber’s one year. Yay to them!” She said and Amber scowled at her not wanting to ruin their party.

Everyone cheered and Dom gave Billy a pat on the back.

“You old-fart, now ask her to marry you already.” Dom said and Billy rolled his eyes.

“I could say the same about you and Lizzy Dommie.” Billy replied laughing at when Dom scowled at the nickname everyone liked to tease him with when he and Lizzy were caught having sex on the living room couch of the girl’s house when she called him Dommie.

Before Dom could say something, the song “Hips Don’t Lie,” by Shakira came blasting through the stereos. All the men glanced at one another before being pulled up by their girlfriends or fiancée to dance with them.

“I hate dancing!” Dom was heard whining over the music as Lizzy shut his mouth by closing her mouth over his. Katie smiled at Gerry who grinned evilly and took her into his arms as her hips grinded against his.

When the song ended, Katie glanced at the bar and grinned when she saw one of her good friends from college Mackenzie or Mack to all her friends up at the bar serving out drinks as the only bartender for the night. She grabbed Gerry’s hand and pulled him by the hand up to the bar.

“Where are we going love?” Gerry asked confused as he followed her to the bar.

“You’ll see…MACK!” Katie replied before she yelled her friend’s name. Mack turned her head to the left and grinned big when she saw Katie and Gerry standing there.

“Okay boys be right back, Katie! Gerry! Hey! How are you both today?” Mack asked smiling as she wiped a beer glass with a towel.

“Doing great, got something to show you.” Katie replied with a smile as she held up her left hand. Mack screamed loudly and jumped over the bar before grabbing Katie and hugging her tightly. Katie laughed and hugged her back before Mack pulled away and hugged Gerry unexpectedly. He laughed and hugged her back.

“I’m so happy for the both of you! It’s about time Gerry!” Mack said with a smile as she pulled the ring up to glance at it.

“Why is everyone telling me that?” he asked and both girls laughed.

“It took you four years to figure out that she was the one?” Mack asked.

“No it took me four years to get the guts to ask her to be with me forever. I knew after our second date that she was the one for me.” Gerry replied.

“No you’re just chickenshit.” Katie piped in and the girls laughed when he frowned.

“Am not.”

“Sometimes you are.”

“Never.”

“Liar.”

“No ye’re the liar.”

The couple glared at one another playfully before smiling and Gerry grabbing her into his arms and kissing her deeply. She smiled and kissed him back before hearing the microphone from the stage. They turned their heads and saw all the girls in their group climbing on the stage.

“Hi everyone…oh hang on a second.” Sammi said before rolling her eyes and pulling a drunken Amber on the stage along with a drunken Lizzy and a close to being drunken M.J.

“Oh God what are they doing?” Katie asked shocked as they all climbed on stage and waved to their men who were sitting at the booth laughing at their antics.

“Where’s our little bride?!” Amber yelled into the microphone making the girls swear from on the stage. Katie hid her face in Gerry’s chest hoping and praying not to be noticed until she glanced up and saw Gerry pointing to her head from above her.

“I hate you.” She said to him blunt before Mack pushed her towards the stage. Kamilla smiled at her and helped her on the stage.

“This is Katie everyone, she just got engaged! Hooray!” Amber said loudly into the microphone as she grabbed Katie and held her next to Lizzy and M.J. who blushed while the crowd cheered.

“Hooray?” Sammi asked and Katie shrugged.

“Katie are you going to see some tonight?” Lizzy asked drunkenly and the men cheered and Katie laughed hearing Gerry’s voice over all of them.

“I don’t know, my fiancé raided me out to these drunkards. Should I men?” Katie asked and all the men cheered again. She squinted her eyes to see Gerry nodding his head wildly and cheering.

“Maybe. Anyways can I go now?” Katie asked and the girls all yelled NO!

“We have a surprise for you, you better like it…or…or…I’ll do something really bad!” Lizzy cried making Katie laugh.

The starting notes of a familiar song came on and Katie’s jaw dropped and she groaned as the girls all grabbed microphones and began singing “Chapel of Love,” by Bette Midler.

Chapter 3

“I knew it!” Sammy exclaimed as Katie walked into the office the next morning at around 9am.

Katie gave her a raised eyebrow as she closed the door behind her.

“Good morning to you too Samma, you knew what?”

“You got some last night.” Sammy replied and Katie laughed.

“No Gerry didn’t get some last night.” Katie replied.

Sammy snorted, “You are so full of shit that you need to crap. Of course you got laid. You have the ‘I got laid goofy grin’ on your face.”

Katie laughed, “Oh fine I got laid. But Gerry fell asleep afterwards.”

Sammy laughed as Katie sat next to her at her desk in the spinning chair.

“Gerry fell asleep after having sex? Does he always do that?” Amber asked as she pushed her desk chair and sat with them.

“Who says you can join us?” Katie snorted and Sammy laughed while Amber groaned.

“You’ve been spending too much time with Sam, Katie.” Amber commented and Katie smiled innocently as Sammy glared at her.

“I can’t help it, if I’m so lovable by everyone.” Sammy said and Amber snorted.

“I don’t think it’s that, it’s that you hang out with everyone when we all do something.” Amber replied and Katie tried not to laugh.

“Bugger off Wolfe,” Sammy growled and Katie snickered.

“Okay you two break it up, so what’s on the agenda for today?” Katie asked Sammy who glared at Amber once more before turning to glance at the calendar.

“Nothing until 3pm today unless we have a walk-in.” Sammy replied and both Katie and Amber choked on their drinks and turned towards Sammy in shock.

“Are you kidding me?” Katie asked shocked and Sammy laughed while shaking her head.

“Nope.”

“Wow this has never happened before. What do we do until then?” Amber asked curiously and Katie shrugged while giggling.

“Don’t look at me, I don’t know what to do either.” Katie replied.

“Wait, so does Gerry always fall asleep after you two have sex?” Sammy asked and Katie and Amber glanced at one another then towards Sammy.

“Not at first, but he has been recently. I know I’m good, so I don’t know what it is.” Katie replied and both Amber and Sammy busted out laughing.

“Oh spare me please,” Sammy replied rolling her eyes.

Amber laughed, “I think it’s just a thing for Scotsmen because Billy does it too sometimes.”

“Well Billy’s old.” Katie commented with a laugh.

“Gerry’s just as old as Billy right?” Sammy asked.

“No Gerry is 35, how old is Billy?” Katie asked.

“Billy’s only 36, so he’s just a year older than Gerry. That’s not bad.” Amber replied.

Sammy snorted, “Only 36? Damn I knew Billy was old, but not that old.”

Katie laughed, “Samma stop picking on Amber, let’s turn on the radio or something to keep us entertained until someone comes in.”

Sammy laughed and saluted Katie playfully as the two vets stood up, stretched and went back to the back room to feed all the animals.
Sammy sat down at her desk and glanced at some paperwork when the song “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” by Trace Adkins came on through the radio speakers. She laughed and turned it up as she began dancing around the waiting room not caring if someone would walk in on her or not.

“Go Sammy!” Amber exclaimed with a laugh.

“Take it off Samma!!!” Katie yelled as the girls laughed and began dancing with one another around the office.

The song ended and the girls stopped laughing when they saw a short man with almost a bald head and blue eyes standing there with his gray mutt with an amused look on his face.

Katie and Amber glanced at one another and turned red as they ran to the back of the building to feed the rest of the animals mainly kittens and cats and puppies and dogs.

Sammy just smiled and sat down at her desk, “Hello and welcome to Above and Beyond Animal Care, may I help you?” she asked without blinking.

The man just giggled and walked up to her.

“I think my dogs has fleas and I saw on your sign that walk-ins are welcomed. Is someone free to help me?” the man asked and Sammy nodded.

“Yeah those two are the vets actually and we’re free. Just fill out these forms Mr.??” Sammy asked.

“Mr..? Oh Wood, I’m Elijah Wood and this is my dog Mikey.” Elijah replied and Sammy snorted while laughing.

“Nice try bud, you’re not Elijah Wood.” Sammy replied while continuing to laugh. He rose an eyebrow.

“Excuse me, but I am…Sammy. I am Elijah Wood. Why is that funny to you?” he asked curiously.

“I don’t believe you for a second, you are not Elijah Wood so stop trying to pose as him. You may have big blue eyes like him, but that’s it.” She said.

“I really am him, believe it or not.” Elijah replied as he took Mikey over to the couch and sat down to fill out the form. Sammy shook her head as she stood up from her desk and ran back to the back room where Katie was holding Gerry’s dog Erik in her arms and petting him while Amber was petting the kittens from a cat that gave birth a couple days prior.

“Just warning you both, whoever gets this guy that just walked in, he says he’s Elijah Wood, but he’s not. So don’t buy it for a second.” Sammy advised. Katie and Amber both glanced at her with raised eyebrows.

“Elijah Wood? The guy with the big blue eyes that plays Frodo in Lord of the Rings? He’s here?” Katie asked and Sammy shrugged.

“I suppose so, so which one of you wants to do with him?” Sammy asked and Katie and Amber pointed to each other and Sammy snickered.

“He has a dog.” Sammy said and Amber pointed to Katie once again.

“Be my guest Katie.” Amber said and she ran over to the cages to finish cleaning the cats and other animals. Katie rolled her eyes and nodded to Sammy as she walked into the examination room and a few minutes later, she glanced up to see the real Elijah Wood walking into the room with his gray mutt who was a duplicate of Tramp from the movie “Lady and the Tramp,” standing there.

She placed on a forced smile and stood up, “Hi I’m Dr. Katie Sheridan, the head vet here. It’s nice to meet you Mr. Wood.” She said as she held out her hand for him to shake. He placed her hand in his and they both glanced at one another when they both felt a shock between them. It was hard to explain, she merely nodded and released her hand and bent down to pet the mutt who was wagging his tail from attention.

“Hello there…uhhh Mikey,” Katie said petting the dog who barked loudly next to her ear. She jumped back and laughed nervously.

“Okay what seems to be the problem?” Katie asked a few minutes later after the examination was done.

“I think he has fleas, I saw something on TV called Frontline Plus, would that work?” Elijah asked and Katie smiled and nodded.

“You know your stuff, that is the number one product that vets recommend for fleas and ticks on dogs and cats. Do you know the
difference between the two?” Katie asked curiously and Elijah shook his head no.

“Okay. Few creatures can inflict more misery, ounce for ounce, than fleas. These tiny, almost-invisible pests can make life miserable and disrupt your household with a vicious cycle of biting and scratching. Fleas may also cause flea allergy dermatitis in some pets and may be carriers of dangerous diseases. He glanced at it and then at Mikey, “How long will it take to work?”

“Depends. All products offer control of fleas, killing 100% of adult fleas on your pet within 18 hours. Flea and tick control kills 100% of ticks on dogs and cats within 24-48 hours. So in Mikey’s case, 18 hours since it’s only fleas. And it works for over a month so you don’t have to keep putting it on everyday.” She replied and Elijah’s eyes went wide.

“Wow, that’s awesome. Thank you Dr. Sheridan,” he said as Mikey jumped down from the table and Elijah attached his leash on his collar.

“Please call me Katie, bring him back here anytime Mr. Wood. And I’m sorry about the secretary Sammy. She’s a fan of Lord of the Rings so more than likely, she was thrown off-guard by your non-existant hair.” She replied and Elijah laughed as they walked outside to the waiting room.

“Okay Sammy ask me anything about Elijah Wood or Lord of the Rings and I’ll prove to you that I am who I really am.” Elijah offered to Sammy who rose an eyebrow.

“Okay where’s your fellowship tattoo?” Sammy asked and Elijah pointed to his hip.

“Alright, was Tig a real or fake game?”

“Fake.” Elijah replied.

“Are Frodo and Sam gay?” Katie asked laughing. Elijah turned around and rolled his eyes.

“No.”

“Alright last question, this is a real tough one, where was the world premiere of Return of the King at?” Sammy asked and Katie snickered.

“Wellington, now do you believe me?” Elijah asked and Sammy shrugged.

“Sure why not Mr. Frodo,” she replied as he groaned.

“What she means to say is that she loves you in Lord of the Rings.” Katie commented and he laughed.

“Well thanks Sammy.”

“No actually I thought he sucked as Frodo. He should have been Gimli.”

Elijah rose an eyebrow as Katie cracked up laughing as she pushed Elijah towards the door.

“I’m sorry about her, she was dropped on her head a few too many times when she was little? Call me if you have any more questions about Frontline or just to chat.” Katie said handing him her business card.

He glanced at her and then smiled, “Thanks again, I was wondering if you would like to see a movie with me tonight?”

Her eyes went wide, “Elijah I’m engaged.” She replied as she held up her hand.

“Oh I’m sorry, I have a girlfriend too. But I really want to see ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and she’s not into that kind of stuff. So as a friend, would you like to?”

She sighed with relief, “I’d like to see that too, so sure I’d love to. I get off at 7pm, what time does the movie start?”

“8:30, I’ll give you a call before then okay?”

“Sounds good, see you later then.” She said as he smiled at her before going to his car and she smiled to herself as she closed the door to her office and walked back to help Amber clean the rest of the animals.

“Lizzy! M.J.! Anyone here?!?!” Katie yelled as she entered her house later that evening.

“In here.” Lizzy called from the kitchen and Katie rushed into the kitchen to find her roommates there eating spaghetti and meatballs.

“I have a problem, and he’ll be here in 45 minutes.” Katie said and both girls raised their eyebrows.

“Gerry’s your problem?” Lizzy asked.

“No, I met this guy and he asked me if I wanted to see Da Vinci Code with him and Gerry said he doesn’t want to see it and I do, so I said yes. Gerry’s gonna kill me.” Katie replied and sat down and banged her head against the dining room table.

“You did what?!” M.J. asked shocked.

“It’s not a date, he has a girlfriend too. He knows about Gerry too.” Katie replied.

“Have you told Gerry?” Lizzy asked curiously.

“Told Gerry what?” a male Scottish voice asked from the doorway and all three girls’ eyes went wide as they turned around to see Gerry standing there with his arms crossed over his chest.

Nuh-uh! I do too like the DaVinci code! That was a P-I-M-P movie, even though I thought that Tom Hanks shouldn't have been Robert Langdon. ^_^ Oh well. And it's no problem about the celebrity thing. Just don't make me tooooooooooooooooo much of a bitch. :lol:

Chloe-That's how 2 of my friends are, Katie is me, Samma is my friend Stacie and Amber is more of my friend Sam (who is a guy) so it's very easy and funny to write those parts. Da Vinci Code is awesome, although I haven't had the time to finish reading the book. Hopefully I'll finish it before I die lol. And yes Gerry's reaction is interesting ;) Glad you liked it :)

This chapter is kinda boring so sorry....I've been working full-time at the lovely *gags* McDonalds in Mooresville and I work from 2pmish to 10-11pmish so I am exhausted when I get home. I'm also stuck on Boyfriend too, so hopefully with my day off tomorrow, I can get some work done :laugh:

Chapter 4

Gerry glanced at the three nervous looking women in front of him. He raised an eyebrow and walked over to Katie and leaned down to kiss her. But she turned away from him and walked out of the kitchen and went to her bedroom.

He turned towards Lizzy and M.J. with a surprised look on his face, “Do you know something that I don’t?” he asked them curiously.

Both girls just shrugged and continued to eat the rest of their dinners.
Gerry rolled his eyes and muttered a sarcastic thanks to them before going upstairs and knocked on Katie’s closed door.

“Katie love? Is everything alright?” He asked and he turned the knob on her door and found it unlocked so he opened her door and peaked inside to see Katie laying down on her bed with her head in a pillow.

“Love? What’s wrong?” He repeated as he closed the door and sat next to her on the bed. She sighed and glanced up at him from the pillow.

“I don’t want to hurt you Gerry…” She started to say, but Gerry stood up from the bed rather jumped.

“What the fuck are ye talking about? Did ye do something?” Gerry asked almost growling and her eyes went wide and shook her head.

“Oh God no, I’m sorry, I should have worded that differently. I’m going to see the Da Vinci Code tonight with a friend that I made from work. His name is Elijah Wood…”

“What? You’re going to a movie with Elijah Wood? Frodo?? I didn’t even know you liked Lord of the Rings.” He commented.

“Of course I like Lord of the Rings. His girlfriend doesn’t want to see Da Vinci Code, but he does. So he asked me as a friend and I said sure because you said you didn’t want to see it, but I do. Please don’t be mad, we’re just going as friends.” Katie replied and Gerry rolled his eyes.

“Sure, tell ye what, I’ll do with ye two. I want to see this now.” He said and she glared at him.

“No you don’t, you don’t trust me so you want to come along to see if Elijah will try to do something, you’re just being a jealous jackass. I see you surrounded by women all the time so don’t try to pull that shit on me.” She snapped.

He glared back, “I do trust you, I don’t know this guy so I can’t trust him.”

“No you won’t trust him, if you trust me, then go because you want to and not to spy on me.” She replied and he sighed.

“Fine, call this guy up and tell him I’m coming.” Gerry said and left her bedroom. She sighed as her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and didn’t recognize the number, but picked it up.

“Hello?” Katie asked curiously as she put on jeans and a long sleeved maroon shirt.

“Katie?” a male voice asked over the phone.

“Yeah hey Mr. Frodo.” She replied recognizing the voice.

Elijah laughed, “Hi Dr. Katie, you still want to go tonight?”

“Sure, but my fiancé is paranoid and wants to go with us, is that
alright?”

“Sure, my girlfriend wasn’t that thrilled either when I told her so she wants to go. It’ll be somewhat of a double date. So we’ll all just meet there. It’s at Shiloh Crossing, meet you guys there around quarter after 8?”

“Sounds great, I like to be there early too. See you there Elijah. Thanks for understanding.”

“It’s no problem, see you there.” Elijah replied as they both hung up.

Later that evening, Gerry pulled in front of Shiloh Crossing movie theatre and parked the car. He glanced at Katie who had her arms crossed over her chest with her head against the window.

He reached over and kissed her cheek softly, “Love, please don’t be mad at me. I just worry about ye. I trust ye completely, but ye do understand my point don’t ye?” he asked curiously.

She glanced over at him and sighed, “I do understand why you got freaked out. I swear Gerry, I only agreed to go with him as friends. He’s a nice guy, but he’s not you. I love you more than anything and anyone Gerry, never forget that. I’m sorry if I hurt you in anyway.”

He smiled and kissed her lips softly, “Ye didn’t hurt me, ye only scared me a bit when ye said ye never wanted to hurt me. I know ye love me and I love ye too. So are ye mad because I’m coming?”

“Not as much as I was. I just don’t know why you’re going when you said a few weeks ago when I mentioned seeing it and you said you didn’t want to, but now that you are. Is it only because of Elijah?”

“Yes I admit it, I’m only going to see this Elijah guy. There’s nothing wrong with that.” Gerry pointed out and Katie rolled her eyes as they climbed out of the car and walked over to Elijah and his girlfriend whom was a bit taller than him and had red wavy hair.

“Hi Elijah,” Katie said as her and Gerry approached the couple. Elijah glanced up and smiled when she said hi to him.

“Hi Katie, glad you could join us. This is my girlfriend Deirdre. Honey, this is Katie Sheridan, the vet who took such good care of Mikey today.” He introduced the two ladies.

“It’s nice to meet you Deirdre.” Katie said as the two women shook hands for a brief second.

“You too Dr. Sheridan.” Deirdre replied before Gerry grabbed Katie a bit protectively when Katie winced a bit.

“Please call me Katie, Elijah, Deirdre, this is my fiancé Gerry Butler, Gerry this is Elijah Wood.”

“Nice to meet you Gerry.” Elijah said as he held out his hand. Gerry glanced at it for a second before being elbowed in the side and he shook Elijah’s hand.

“Ye too Elijah.” Gerry replied as they all sighed and walked into the movie theatre to watch the Da Vinci Code.

The next afternoon, Katie took Lady out for a walk and decided to go to the park that was only a few blocks away from their house. She arrived at the park about twenty minutes later and sat on a bench while taking off Lady’s leash. The cocker spaniel barked and ran around the grass in front of Katie.

She smiled at her playful dog and pulled out her ipod and began listening to some music.

A few minutes later, Lady finished doing her business and trotted over to Katie who smiled and leaned down to pet her. Lady laid down next to the bench and Katie leaned down to finish reading her book when the pages became darker because of a shadow. She glanced up to see Elijah standing there with Mikey’s leash in his hand.

“Well hello there stranger.” Elijah said with a smile as Mikey leaned over and began to sniff Lady who glanced at him and barked loudly. Mikey barked back and then they began growling at one another.

“Hey stop it!” Elijah exclaimed at the gray mutt while Katie scolded Lady who stopped immediately.

“She’s not harmless at all, I’m sorry. She’s never like this.” Katie said glaring at her dog who yawned.

Elijah snickered, “I heard cocker spaniels are bitchy, is that true? And don’t feel bad, Mikey’s never been like that either.”

She motioned for him to sit down next to her and she snickered. “Yes that is true they are bitchy. But Lady’s not that bad, so what are you doing over here?”

He sat down, “I live over here actually. I like the busyness of LA, but I also love the peaceful side of it too which is pretty much over here. Now you on the other hand, are definitely from the Midwest aren’t you?”

She laughed, “Yeah I hail from Indiana. I’m the only one in my family who has moved across the country. I really loved it in Indiana. My parents live in the same town that I grew up in and it’s a small town. So needless to say, moving to LA was definitely a change.”

“If you loved Indiana so much, then why did you leave for pretty much a new world?” he asked curiously.

“Gerry. He’s a professor at UCLA and when he got the job here, I moved too.” She replied and he picked up her hand to glance at her simple, yet elegant engagement ring.

“Wow, you must really love him to do that. That takes sacrifice.” Elijah commented and she smiled and nodded.

“I do, Gerry’s wonderful.”

“How did you two meet? He’s from Scotland isn’t he?”

“Yup, Glasgow to be exact. I met Gerry through my cousin’s ex-boyfriend Billy Boyd who is dating my best friend and partner at the office Amber. Billy came to visit our family one Thanksgiving and he brought Gerry with him. And the rest they say is history. How did you meet Deirdre? Does she hate me?” Katie asked while laughing.

Elijah rolled his eyes, “No she doesn’t hate you. I don’t see how anyone could hate you, but anyways we were both set up on a blind date with one another. We actually live together even though we’ve been together for about five or six months, I can’t remember.” He replied and Katie laughed.

“Typical male, they forget when the anniversary is, ha that’s funny. But don’t worry, you’re not alone in this. Gerry forgot our one year anniversary and you can only imagine how mad I was at him.”
“Hey! I would never forget an anniversary and I have a range. So kiss my butt, I’m not a typical male, I’m perfect dammit.” He replied and Katie snorted.

“Oh please.” She said as her cell phone rang interrupting their conversations. She blushed as she pulled it out and checked the caller id which was their house number.

“Hello?” Katie asked curiously.

“Katie! You need to hurry home now!” M.J. exclaimed on the other end.

“What? Why?” Katie asked a bit worried.

“It’s Lizzy…”

“Lizzy? What’s wrong with her? Is she okay?”

“I’m not sure, she’s really upset about something just hurry home. I’m scared.” M.J. replied as she hung up the phone.

Katie cursed to herself as she threw her phone in the bag and put Lady’s leash on her collar.

“I’m sorry Elijah, but I need to go home. Something’s wrong with one of my roommates.” Katie said as they both stood up.

“It’s alright,” Elijah replied, “Would you like a ride?”

“That’d be great thanks.” She said as they hurried towards his car.

“M.J.! Lizzy!!” Katie yelled as her and Elijah ran in the house to find arguing coming from upstairs. They ran upstairs and saw M.J. pounding on Lizzy’s door.

“Liz, it’s Katie hun. Open up.” Katie said as M.J looked at Elijah weird.

“No offense Katie, but leave me the fuck alone.” Lizzy yelled.

“What happened Liz?”

“Dom fucking broke up with me that’s what bloody happened!” Lizzy growled opening the door.

Isn't a break-up like...

I adore the scene when they are up at the desks dancing and singing.
That is such a lovely image in my mind, I only do silly dances and singing when I am completky at ease with people and it is so great to see that see has that with these girls...
(and I like her with Gerry.... people are gonna get hurt won't they :cry: )
