Title: "The Long and Short of it"
Description: heh heh bad joke

Digigoose - April 28, 2006 05:52 AM (GMT)
Well, to start with, I'm a bit of an introverted personality. I think "introspective" sounds better, I'm not anti-social, just not a terribly outgoing person. It's always been hard for me to talk openly with people--with anyone--but since this is the internet and we're not face to face I can go ahead and type. :)

I was born and raised in a small city of 8,600 people in the state of Wisconsin, right on the shore of Lake Superior. It's pretty boring compared to the liveliness of larger cities, but on the plus side the scenery is very nice and there's a lot of outdoors-y things to do in all seasons. As for my life, I was raised in a rather sheltered home--my mother's father was a church pastor, so I was forced into church and related activities for many years. And Mom homeschooled me until the 4th grade. What I really hate is that throughout my life I haven't been allowed to do a lot of the things that "normal" teens do: attend school dances, go to see movies before having them approved by my mother, or read books which contain or are believed to contain cursing or anything "inappropriate."

Moving on...

Because of the home rules imposed upon me, I had to read The Lord of the Rings and many other books in secrecy, and then lie in order to go see Peter Jackson's movies a few years ago. I absolutely love the films. The actor's performances are so strong and the acting profession in general is just very inspiring to me, even though I don't think I could do it myself. That's the main reason I'm here--the casting for Lord of the Rings was ingenius, and I've gained a huge respect for everyone involved in making those movies. Needless to say I've become a fan of Elijah Wood, and Orlando Bloom for his mad on-screen fighting skills. They're both so talented, and good looking as a bonus  and I'd like to know more about them.

Oh, and by the way, last year I finally decided "enough is enough" and convinced Mom to watch The Fellowship of the Ring on TV with me. Initially there was grumbling, but amazingly she didn't yell about it, and after awhile she actually got into the story and decided that it was alright afterall. She's a big fan now based on the movies, and I'm trying to get her to read Tolkien's book. Please trust me when I say that "I told you so" just doesn't cover this situation. Apparently, it literally takes years of argument to make her change her mind about anything. She's still stuck on judging books by their covers, refusing to give things a chance, and it's too bad. She's decided that I have an attitude problem and don't respect her because I don't follow her every command anymore... but I've decided that she can do what she wants, fights and arguments or no. I'll be moving into a dorm next year.

I should apologize to anyone reading this, I didn't mean to go on this long. I'll just wrap up with some random referential facts about myself:

I only have one really close friend. I don't know where I'm going in life; I have no major and no real career plans yet. In school, I can earn an "A" in just about any class I choose to enter, but I have yet to find anything that sparks my enthusiasm and makes me say "Yeah! I wanna pursue this further!" I usually end up way too stressed about things (last week a lady cutting my hair told me that I have some grey hair  ), and I need to find an outlet for my stress. I think moving out of my parent's house might be enough though.

Also... I like photography--I'm not great at it but it's fun. I'm a percussionist who has performed in marching band, concerts, small ensembles, and at high school sporting events. I enjoy playing tennis and bowling. I've deer-hunted since I was 12. I'm trying to get registered in an archery class at college next fall term because I think that would be extremely cool, and I'm a blue belt in Shotokan Karate, although I haven't attended class in years.

I think that's enough. You probably know more than enough about me now

Welcome to our fun little forum, Digigoose! I love your username, haha, it makes me think of a goose with Borg implants or something...uh...yeah, fact about me is that I'm random. Nice to meet you. ^_^

It was nice to read that miniature autobiography and learn some things about you, you know, I was super sheltered too! Not homeschooled though, public school all the way. I do have several homeschooled friends though. They're awesome people! As I'm sure you are. :shine:

Another thing I wanted to say was that you rock for loving LotR. I'm a total Ringer (ok, it's not as intense as it was back when the movies were out, but still! They'll always be dear to my heart...and I do in fact own the extended edition trilogy, wahoo pulpfiction ) and oh...does your mom know that Tolkien was a Christian? He converted CS Lewis (or the other way around, I can't remember). Oh, you should really read the Silmarillion if you liked the other books. :yay:

Ok, I rambled too, heh, but again, I'm a little like that too in that I type my fingers off online but am shy in person (unless I know you well, then I don't shut up, lol). So hi! I promise you'll have an incredible amount of fun here, the people are awesome and the stories are amazing...read as much as you can! *gives you welcome cookies*

Welcome on board Digigoose,

Pretty funny name...how did you come up with it?!
I really hope you will have a lot of fun here. The people here are amazing and we have a lot of good stories. The ratings indicate what you can expect in a story...so no nasty surprises there.

I did enjoy reading your introduction. I like it that you told something about yourself and I hope your shyness won't bother you to much here. I was pretty much shy in the beginning to but the people here are very friendly so I am sure you will feel at home very soon.
I can't say that I was brought up very sheltered but I can see why you didn't like it.

I will give you a little introduction to myself to I am sure my newbie intro is still somewhere on this forum *grins* It is justy waaay back. My name is Dana, I am 27 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I study literature at the university of Amsterdam and I am a biig fan of Lotr and Elijah Wood.

Should you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
Greetz,
Dana

Mena - April 28, 2006 09:06 AM (GMT)
Well, dear, you might be shy, but you're surely putting some effort in sharing a bit of yourself with us with your long nice introduction, and trust me, on this board this kind of things are always welcome and appreciated.

I'm Mena, from Italy. I have been stiking here for roughly two years and made great, precious friends in this place. hope it will be the same for you!

Hey!! Welcome to the boards Digi!!!

It's cool that your intro was long, I'm a talker and reading that reminded me of myself so that's cool :) But Mena is right, you may be shy, but all your posts are awesome :)

I'll say a bit about myself, I'm Katie and I hail from good ole Indiana. I am 20 about to be 21 in September. I currently live in Terre Haute while attending college, but Finals are next week so this time next week I'll be back in my hometown of Indianapolis-mostly Speedway though. I'm studying to be a teacher and I love it. I like a lot of things lol. I've been writing fics for a long time, just never posted them until now. I have 2 stories up now, Boyfriend for Hire which you have read :yay: and One Little Mistake in the Lads section, along with other short stories. I love Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom too; however, I do have a thing for guys with accents so Dom, Billy and Gerry Butler aren't that far behind :shine:

I hope you enjoy the site and thanks again for reviewing my story Boyfriend for Hire: Elijah Wood :) I'm really glad you like it so far, it's my first Lij novel :)

Have fun! Hopefully we can talk more soon :) :bye:

Katie

Heya Digi and welcome to the board!
Don't worry about you're long winded intro, we like to know whatever you're willing to share!
As for you're shyness..well I don't really have anything to say about it, except for most people who come here shy dont stay that way for long lol.
Now I'll tell you a bit aout me! I'm Chloe, and I'm from Melbourne Australia (Theres a few of us Aussies around). I'm 17 and doing my last year of high school. I work as a waitress part time. I LOVE music and play guitar and drums (used to play flute, but not so much any more) aside from that there really isn'tmuch to say.
So again, Welcome to the board and if you have any questions feel free to ask anyone, cause everyone s really really nice and they're alays willing to help!!

Sammi - April 29, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
I would really like to hear how you came up with that username; its genius!!

Thank you for the long intro. I sympathize with the shyness in "real life" and chatterfingers online. Trust me, its a common thing in these parts.

My name's Sam and I'm a Navy Brat. I've lived just an hour or so north of Los Angeles for about three years now. I'm a junior in high school and will be 17 come September. Sometimes I find it so amazing how long I've been around. EWAC, since its "birth", and before then, EWFN for God knows how long (probably a year).

I am pretty withdrawn in public, but (when I find the time to be here more) am usually quite animate. ;) Elijah brought me here. Seriously, who could ever resist those blue eyes?? :tsk: You will find that he's probably the least wanted guy around here though. There are Gerard Butler fans, Billy Boyd, Viggo Mortensen, Dominic Monaghan, of course Orlando Bloom, Christian Bale, Hugh Dancy, Eric Szmanda, and oh so much more. We're quite the diverse group.

Anyway. I really just wanted to greet you, welcome you, and assure you that we're all perfectly sane. ^_^ It's really nice to meet you, and I want to get to know you better. By the way, I hope moving out helps with your grey hair.

Digigoose - April 29, 2006 07:19 AM (GMT)
Oh geez I didn't expect replies that fast, thanks everybody! Kinda embarrassed that I ranted about myself now...

Hi Celandine. Yeah I'm a feathered droid :) I like randomness. Were you to see my room, you'd think that I thrive on chaos, but truthfully I'm just never in the mood to tidy it up. And no, my mom doesn't really know anything about Tolkien. The Silmarillion is totally on my "to-read" list though, along with a ton of other books... so I will get around to it eventually! If real life would just leave me alone for awhile I'd have my nose stuck in a book forever! Thanks for the cookies *munch* mmmmm.

Thanks for the welcome Dana. I guess a lot of people find my name funny... I've kept it for years because it sounds kinda neat. There isn't much to it though: Goose is a nickname I've had since I was 11 or 12, and "digi" came from the cartoon Digimon. Yeah, I'm sure I'll have fun here.

My... precioussssss... haha Mena I can't even read the word "precious" anymore without thinking of Gollum. Thanks for the nice wishes :)

Thanks Katie. Can't wait for more of your fic--you chose a great title by the way, how could I possibly resist looking at it? Yay college :yay: what subject are you going to teach after you graduate?

Oh cool Chloe, so you live fairly close to where LotR was filmed. I'd like to visit Australia and New Zealand on vacation someday, but it'll be quite awhile before I can afford any trips! ... Drummers rule! I'm going to try picking up a guitar one of these days and learning to play it a little bit. I started once, only learned a few chords, but didn't have the time to devote to it and now I have to start over. The only other instrument I've played is the alto sax, but that was only for one year in middle school.

Haha thanks for the compliment Sammi... I'm glad you like the name  So Elijah is the least wanted guy here?! *rubs hands mischieviously* that leaves us with more space to drool then--whoops did I say that out loud? Heh heh. Erm, thanks for the welcome. Can't believe I mentioned my hair, at first I was a bit shocked but now I just think it's kinda funny :)

Everybody here seems to have a cool screen name

Digigoose - April 30, 2006 10:58 AM (GMT)
Yeah playing music in general is just cool :)

I've never tried snow boarding though. Tried skiing one time on a school field trip, but that's about the extent of my experience zoomin down snowy hills... unless you count sledding, which I used to do all the time!

So yep I'll be hanging around here, probably when I should be doing homework and such :tsk:

Digigoose - May 4, 2006 04:08 AM (GMT)
Hi Kit-Kat! Thanks!

Yup, I just joined Ka-Bloom. I lurked a bit there and really liked what I saw. Looks like a great place--too bad I didn't hear about it sooner. I anticipate being a "newbie" for quite awhile though. I've found that it's really easy to spend way too much time reading posts, so I'm trying to limit my forum time until after spring term is over, so I can actually get homework done.

So far this plan has been highly unsuccessful, but I'm working on it. :tsk:

Kit-Kat - May 5, 2006 12:55 AM (GMT)
Next time if you see my post around the Ka-Bloom board and this board give me a shout out of a hey!
