Title: (Untitled)
Description: written some time last fall
~Jewelz~ - April 17, 2006 05:17 AM (GMT)
Hullo lovelies; it's been a while since I've posted a poem. But anyway, I found this one in my journal from last fall and figured I might as well share it with you all. It may need some explanation though, so feel free to ask if you don't get some of my random symbolism, or whatever *laughs*
Not exactly a happy poem, but hey "sometimes the bravest thing of all is to hope..."
the weight of the world fell
to my shoulders this night
this blackened night where stars
burn into our souls and seek out
transgressions
and my breath catches in my throat
the world's fingers laced around my neck
its ugliness crushing my rock of a heart
iced and frozen and burning in pain
the world falls often these nights
I have learned to breathe shallowly
and live thoughtlessly
in a world of movie scenes and symbols
I am no soldier, I would be
first to fall, should I dare to stand
show my my tables, whitened tables
seat at each of them my past
all equal, all broken and cruel
so much like our world
once i danced bitterly with whichever
love was closest to find
whatever lie I could dig my fingers into
I lived so long, dancing between dreams
that never were
Overturn these tables! Chase them away!
leave the wrekage on the ground
that I might kneel in the ruins and weep
that we might wade through the
waters of death and die again to You
my heart burns to their world
to those words. nothing
damned to this world's egocentrism
Cry to our country! cry to your's
and choke down our dinners to
burning stomachs, to rotting souls!
Tear away those tables, let nothing
of what was return
let us pull down these tents
that keep us from the stars
run from the polished dance floor
splattered with the blood of a million men
blow our philosophies to the wind
and let us dig into the world
and fight back!
let us absorb the world each night
and not run from the pain but
to it in love!
let us dance without shoes in the grass
in the sands of the earth
and bring us to that long table
set apart for the Bride and Groom
seat us there; Your Beloved
and show us what love means
what life is for, every moment!
Drag us from the wrekage
of tables and homes and bodies!
rip us from this world!
this world that falls on us all
let me die, let us see, oh please!
words fade away
when You speak
dance under the stars and toast to Love
for all else will fade away
but not everything does.
[or, for the last line: "though it may not seem so" or something along those lines, because it really was less hopefull than some people took it. Basically I meant that all else will fade away, even though at times it seems that it never will *shrug*]
Tchao.

Why has no one replied to this? This is a masterful poem, delicate yet vovid and powerful. Something ee cummings, something Shakespearean, something Ernest Hemmingway...There truly is a weight to your words yet they have definitely music to them. If you wish me to do an analysis of it stanza by stanza, I can do this thing for you. But truly, you are a poet, my angel.

This is good poetry, it flows.
It leaves room for thought and room to project your own feelings to.
I like the symbolism

Wonderful line as it can mean so many things.
Really lovely Jewelz!!

Oh, wow *facepalm* I am so sorry lovelies! I had no idea you either of you had posted comments to my poem until just now. Thank you so much! :)
*laughs* Thank han, feel free to analyze if you wish, I'd love to hear what you have to say. However, asking for a stanza by stanza report would be a bit egotistical of me, don't you think? Hahaha... regardless, thank you so much for the compliments; they mean a lot coming from you ^_^
And Moon! *hugs* Thank you for reading too.

I've been told similar things about my other writing and, to be honest, I'm not quite sure if it's a good thing, or if it just means I'm lax at intense descriptions *sniggers* Ah well, I'll take it as a compliment, haha, so thank you very much for it :D
I wish I had more to share with you all, but these sort of poems are the type that can only be written feverishly by candlelight at 1 in the morning, if you catch my drift (darn picky muse, haha).
Right, enough rambling. Thanks again :) Tchao.

It is a good thing, means you can describe a setting well enough to evoke people to think about themselves.
For me, I need to be able to relate. Else I get bored.
Your writing challenges to think.
