Title: Anti-Abortion or Abortion Rights?

~Jewelz~ - March 21, 2006 11:30 PM (GMT)
So, I know we already have a thread discussing this, but I was hoping that perhaps people would be willing to answer the poll- Pretty please?

(It's another thing for my health class *grumble*)

Also, could you please just post a short comment including your age and why your opinion is the way it is. Just a sentence or two would be amazingly helpful, thanks.

Besides, I think it would be kind of interesting, just to see how the votes spread out y'know? And afterward you all could go debate over it in the other thread, hehehe...

Thanks all!

ps. I meant to write "strictly for abortion rights" or something to that extent, for the first answer- Sorry, heh...

(guys, take this! She needs it for her class, lol)

I'm 19 and pro life. I believe that a life is a life, no matter what age, zygote or senior citizen. Someone shouldn't get to decide whether another person gets to live or not, especially if the person in question doesn't even have a choice in the matter.

Thanks so much Celly; I owe you one :)

I figure I might as well answer this, since I'm asking yo all to. Please don't be at all swayed by my answers though! (Not that you would be *laughs* Just don't think that I'm going to think any different of anyone who disagrees with me- this issue is such grey-area really, esp for me...)

Just for the record, I voted for the "I'm not quite sure, but probably anti-abortion" (And I'm 20, btw). Here's why:

1. I agree with Celly in that all life is life and therefore precious.
2. I hope that I would never have to resort to such a thing- I pray I would have the strength and nerve not to do it- but I've never been there, so I don't know how it is.
3. I'm wary of making it illegal because of all the potential back-alley abortions that would probably go one (and did go on when it was last illegal).
4. Then again, murder is illegal...Then again, we (in the US) murder our murderers...but that's another issue entirely (I'm anti-death penalty too btw)
5. Life? Yes, of course. Choice? Well, of course! But the choice to kill?... Saying that depends just bugs me- who decides?

All this= me still quite undecided. The more I think about it, the less I'm sure of either choice. So there that is.

Thanks to all who answer; you're the greatest! :D

Hey Jewelz. Thought I would help you out with this survey thingy.

Well, I voted that I'm pro-choice. And while I think that you and Celly bring up some very valid points, I am a firm believer in having a choice. That doesn't necessarily mean that I would get an abortion ever in life, but I just like the fact that it is a choice made available to me. No one should have the right to tell someone whether or not it is good or bad. Without ever being in that situation, how can I say whether it is right or wrong.

I agree with you Jewelz on the fear of if abortion becomes illegal all the back alley abortions that will be taking place.

Also, I just think about all the women that are forced or coerced into having sex with men and then end up pregnant, or what about women that are raped and end up being pregnant.

I'm just rambling....but I firmly believe everyone is entitled to their own choice in the matter.

Oh and by the way...I'm in my late twenties. Does that count for an age? ^_^
