Hello everyone! It's time for a new interview with the author. This time we are featuring the lovely and talented J-e-s-s-i-c-a. Be sure and check out her fic, Stale Cigarettes, which is pinned in the Elijah Wood section. I'd like to thank her for participating in the interview process!
So, enjoy!
***************************************************
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself, who is jessica?
Jessica is a 16 year old girl, who is pretty extroverted and enjoys to escape with her imagination.
2. When and why did you decide to start writing fan fics? Did you have any sort of experience in writing before this? Which stories have you written so far?
I started writing when I was 14. Just random stories about nothing in particular. And my love for Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom brought me to EWFN, and then here. I've written a few stories - All Mixed Up, The Truth About Cats and Dogs, and Stale Cigarettes which hasn't been completed.
3. Where do you find our inspiration?
Music, movies. I use music to help change a mood.
4. What authors do you admire? (Real life and on this site)
I really admire Mena's writing. She's such a beautiful writer and everything flows together. I also love reading the books of movies I've seen, in particular Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Girl, Interrupted.
5. How big of a place does writing have in your life, how important is it to you?
It was very important to me, but after a while school became more hectic and I had to give it up. But I want to pick it up again.
6. Other than writing, do you have any artistic sides?
I excel at art at school. I design clothes a lot, and I aspire to be a fashion deisgner.
7. Have you ever suffered from a writer's block and if so how do you deal with it?
I have. Music seems to help. Picking a song to suit the mood of the chapter you want to write.
8. What different genres, if any, would you like to attempt writing? What do you feel would challenge you the most?
I would like to write some horror, but I don't have the heart haha. A challege would actually writing a half-decent storyline.
9. Do you consider yourself an organized writer (make outlines and notes) or do you have a more whimsical, creative approach?
I try to write drafts of each chapter and type them out, make changes to it or change it all together.
10. Do your characters set where the story is heading, or do you find characters that match the storyline you already have in your head?
It depends really. I can chop and change things pretty often to shape the character rather than the storyline. I try to make my characters as descriptive as I can.
11. Are the characters you create inspired by people you already know or are they just a creation of your mind? Basically, what shapes them?
Inspired by people. I shape them by the answer to the cast call they leave. If they describe themself as dorky, I make them cute and clumsy.
12. What is your idea of the perfect story? What do you dislike reading most in a story?
I dislike a story with too much dialogue, not enough description and when the story doesn't go anywhere. I like stories that describe things beautifully, that you know where it is and where it's going, and that you look forward to a next chapter. I like to feel like I understand the character.
13. Is there anything you would like to share with us, you think is important/ funny/ handy to know?
Use music to help you out, and don't force your writing.
Very cool interview ^_^
And I totally agree Jess, music helps A LOT.
Another great interview conducted by the lovely Ambrosia.
I must say I was very excited to see the interview was done with j-e-s-s-i-c-a, a very deserving writer.
Great questions and it was interesting to get into the head of Jess for a bit. I must say, I am quite impressed with the amount of structure you have to your writing. You can definitely see that in your stories, well at least the one I am reading - Stale Cigarettes - your plot lines and everything is so smooth.
You know what this means....it means I expect more Stale Cigarettes soon! *hint hint*
This was a nice interview! I missed you and haing you back with an interview was a double treat.
And i squealed aloud when I spotted my name there! You're just too kind, babe!
Fantastic interview! I enjoyed getting to know you better!
