This is one of those movies that flopped BIG time in theatres. My father tells me it was so bad that he turned it off in the middle.
I happen to love it, but whatever
Starring (the handsome, wonderful, amaaazzzing) Christian Bale as "Jack 'Cowboy' Kelly" Newsies is a musical (made in '92) about newspaper boys that went on strike in New York in 1899. Bill Pulman's also in it, and a bunch of other people I don't know, hehe.
Yes, it had it's ridiculous moments. The sister's character could have used a lot of work, and we could have down without the weird singing lady and her pink obsession. Oh, and perhaps the actors could have used a voice couch to keep from losing their accents every other sentence (the again, Mel Gibson did it in Braveheart, and I mean, please; Mel Gibson! Braveheart! Sheesh).
Still, I thought it was amusing. Cute too, and many of the songs are the kind of upbeat that makes me glad that some white boys* aren't afraid to dance (like in Footloose, bwah haha). Christian Bale singing helped. Basically it was silly and corny and just overall alot of fun. Then again, I'm have weird movie taste and enjoy watching and laughing at ridiculous movies.
Okay, I'm done babbling about this silly movie now ^_^ *skips off to sing to soundtrack*
*(please don't be offended by this! )
Well then, I guess nobody loves the Newies *hugs it* Fine then, more for me :P
Tchao
I'm so sad!! *mock weeps*
Apparently there's a "Talking Newsies" thing on the old DVD that has Newsies slang or something (which I would find hysterical, and probably use; because I'm a freak ;)) But the new DVD (which I have) doesn't have it!!! *again with the mock weeping*
Sad day.
(esp. since no one posts in this thread  )
:P....
*points to her avatar* Spot! *hugs him* lol
Newsies has awesome songs and Christian Bale, you can't go wrong with it, and the tunes are catchy! Thanks to Alan Menken (the guy who wrote music for Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast).
*wanders off singing* And the World will know, and the Journal too, Mr. Hearst and Pulitzer, have we got news for you, and the world will hear what we got ta say, we've been hawkin' headlines, but we're makin' em today...
