Winter Term

Rating: PG-13 for some language and sexual refernece, etc.

Synopsis- A young 21 year old college girl goes to London, England for a Winter term for her college course and meets someone she didn't expect to meet. READ ON!! :woot: ;-) :tsk:

~Winter Term~
Kathleen Williams pulled her balck peacoat closer around her as she walked against the the cold January winter wind. She walked down the snow/ice covered streets of London on the way back to her flat. She felt like she was wearing nothing in this cold, even though she had dark jeans, a whit turtle neck sweater and a pink yellow scarf on under her coat. She decided to drop in on her favorite little cafe for some hot chocolate. She went in got her hot chocolate and sat down in one of the big, cushy armchairs by the fireplace.

She looked out the snow covered window and thought about the past month she has been here and what happened before she came here. She came here in early December for her Acting college course and they paid for her to have a flat to live in until April when the term was up. She was excited to be here but missed her family and friends but she made new friends here too. She had broken up with her fiance before she came here because of some problems. They had begun dating when she was 18 and lived a happy relationship or so she thought. The only reason he went out with her was because his ex-girlfriend had broken up with him the week before him and Kathleen began going out. Kathleen and Jack, that was his name, went out and got engaged when she was 20 and they were planning on marrying in may. But in November she went to go see him in his dorm room and found him making love to his ex-girlfriend, he had told Kat he had wanted to wait until they were married to make love but it was a lie, their whole relationship was a lie. She found out that he had been sleeping with her for 3 months and Kat was just the substitute girlfriend for the time and she ended the engagement and took up the opportunity to come to England.

She looked around at the happy couples cuddling on the couches and armchairs keeping warm and sitting close together at the tables. She gave a slight smile remembering when she and Jack would cuddle on cold winter nights back in New York, but she brushed it off and decided to leave to go back to her apartment.

She had been feeling lonely and heartbroken for the past month without a boyfriend, Jack was the only boyfirend she ever had who told her that he loved her but that was a lie too. So, in the end she had never had a guy ever tell her that he loved her or even kiss her with real love. She hated how no guys ever seemed to love her even when they dated her. Jack was the guy who gave her her first kiss, after they had been dating for 2 years! After 2 years he finally gave her her first kiss. She never did have a good love life.

As she was walking out the door she ran into a guy and she dropped her drink.

"Oh my- I'm so sorry. Here let me help you." He said as she got down on the floor and began to wipe up the hot liguid with a napkin and he went to get more.

"No, really it was my fault. I should've looked where I was going." Kat said and he helped her clean up and when they finished he helped her up and she looked at him and met his beautiful brown eyes with her blue eyes.

"Thank you." She said softly as she pushed a piece of her long dark brown hair behind her ear.

"No problem. Hi, I'm Orlando." He said extending his hand with a bright smile and she smiled back as she took it.

"Hi, I'm Kathleen but everyone calls me Kat." She said as she shook his hand.

"Nice to meet you. Sorry I spilled your drink let me buy you another one." He said and he went over and bought to cups of hot chocolate. As he came back and handed her her drink, the song " io (This time around)" by-Helen Stellar came on.

"Thanks." She said smiling at him.

"Would you like to sit down with me and talk?" He said gesturing twoard the couch.

"I'd love to." She said and they sat down on the couch and began to talk about life and eachother and began to get to know eachother. He talked about his recent breakup with his girlfriend and she talked about her recent breakup and what happend. She felt like she could trust him and tell him anything. After about 2 hours of talking he said he had to leave.

"I've got to go, but I wanted to ask you, would you like to go on a date with me saturday night?" He asked with nervous yet pleading looking in his eyes. Kat almost jumped for joy happy that her love life was beginning to look up a little.

"Yes, I'd love to." She said and he smiled a relieved smile.

"Great here's my number and address." He said handing her a sheet of paper.

"And here's my number and my address." Kat said handing him a sheet of paper.

They both then got up and left and was he walked away waving to her she heard the last lyrics of the song by Helen Stellar that they listened to inside play in her head.

She then walked away smiling and went back to har flat excited about saturday night.

Hey, I like your story...wow things began to look up so fast for Kat, like instant love, I wish I could have that.

Not many people look into the shortstory section...I'm glad I did, I've found some great fics!
