Warning!!! This is total fluff. If fluff isn't your thing, TURN BACK NOW! hehe

You walk around the house, the small bundle in your arms still crying. You know he’s tired, but he won’t close his eyes, save for when he lets out a particularly loud wail. You yawn widely, realizing how tired you are yourself. You walk into the room you and your husband share. The scent of his cologne still hangs in the air from this morning. You inhale deeply and close your eyes, a light smile playing on your face.

You sit gingerly on the bed, not wanting to disturb the now quiet baby. You look down at the much tinier version of your husband’s eyes.

“You miss daddy, don’t you? I do too. But he’ll be home soon. In fact, I’m sure he’ll want you to take a nap before he gets back.” You are met with a yawn and a tiny toothless smile. You figured he would calm down when you walked into the room. You know babies identify their mothers by smell, and you quickly realized that they could also respond to their father’s scent.

Your little boy was quickly falling asleep and you prop yourself up on a few pillows. You watch as the newborn yawns again, his eyes slowly closing. He looks exactly like his father; they have the same green eyes, dark hair, and you are convinced he has the same smile as well. When his eyes close and his breathing evens out, you shift his form so that he is lying on your chest face down, his ear just above your heart.

“I love you my baby boy.” you whisper, lightly kissing the top of his head. You lean your head back and close your eyes, vowing to get up after a few minutes. You rub the baby’s back, quickly falling asleep.

~*~

Gerry walks into the house, aware of how quiet it is. Usually he can hear you doing something, but there was nothing but silence. He walks quietly through the house, looking in every room he passes. Unable to find you or his son, he goes into the large bedroom and is greeted with the sight of you and your son sleeping peacefully on the bed. He smiles and feels the familiar pull at his heart; the same pull he feels whenever he sees either of you. Unable to resist, he picks up the camera you keep handy and takes a quick snapshot.

He sets the camera down and walks to the bed, gently lying next to you. He kisses Aaron’s head softly and does the same to you. You stir slightly, slowly opening your eyes. When you see who is next to you, you smile widely.

“Did you have a good nap?” he asks playfully, and you nod.

“Yes. I did. And your son is still enjoying his. Thank God.”

“Did he not want to sleep?” Concern is written all over his face and you feel yourself falling in love with him all over again. No matter how hectic his day was, he always asks how your day went and wants to hear everything about Aaron.

The infant chooses that moment to wake up, slowly opening his green eyes and focusing on his father with a smile. Gerry lifts Aaron from your chest, giving him a noisy kiss on the cheek. This initiated a gurgly giggle from Aaron, accompanied by a wide grin.

“I think he missed you today,” you say, moving closer to father and son. You place one arm around Gerry’s waist and put your head on his shoulder. He really is a great father. You place a feathery kiss on his shoulder, smiling at how fortunate you are. He looks at you and smiles back, love shining in his eyes. The picture the three of you make is something both of you have always wished for.

A happy family.

Fluff is good! I like fluff.

What a sweet story. I love the idea of a strong muscular man's gentle touch with his child. Your description of him as a caring father and husband is so pleasing I had to read it twice.

I admire your style, my girl; keep up the good work.

I'm so dumb, I realized that I have read this before and not reviewed  I'm really sorry.

I love stories like this and I love Gerry Butler, so this story is really great! I loved it. It's soooooo sweet. I have a similar story with Billy as the main male, but I wrote that like 3 years ago lol. So I swear I'm not copying you or anything.

Anyhoo great story :) I loved it!
