Ok What do ya think?
I thought it was really good and really funny. Johnny Depp was amazing like usual. But I'm like there bits I like in the old one and bits I like in the new one so was wondering what other peoples opinions was?

I thought it was way better than the original. I liked the glass elevator more and the oompa loompa background. Tim Burton had more technology to work with, but yeah I still liked the lines better and I thought the background with the dad was a nice touch.
But yeah, I had also watched the original twice in the week I saw it, so I was a little bit sick of it. I mean, there is only so much of the original Charlie I can take. He annoys me to no end. I liked this Charlie a lot better. :)

Freddie Highmore I think that his name is brilliant. He was in finding neverland and well I was amazed by his acting. Yes the technology better but I did perfer the old ompa lompa song. But the dentist back ground with Saruman was brilliant I liked the back story a lot.

Apparently - this is what I've heard, I haven't read the book - the oompa loompa songs in this movie are the original lyrics from the book.
I saw him in finding neverland, he is really talented :)

I have read the book but can't remember the actual Ompa lompa lyrics. But the whole film is more like the book.

The old Charlie was annoying (what's with drinking the fizzy drink and still getting the factory??). Also I hardly ever watched the old one anyway because the Oompa Loompas freaked me out as a kid - the orange faces and weirdly shaped green hair *shudder* Almost as scary as Polka Roo (from a kids show I used to watch in the 80s).
So I reluctantly went to see this new one - I like Johnny Depp and my friend wanted to see it (it was her birthday) and I did like it. The Oompa Loompas were a thousand times better. Also I really liked how great and weird Depp was as Wonka.
I am not sure if I would want to own it, but it was good. ^_^

Yeah, I found the old oompa loompas kind of disturbing sometimes but they were weirdly popular with everyone else. Some of my classmates were dressing up as oompa loompas for Halloween for years.
I loved the way Johnny portrayed Wonka :) At some points he seemed just as much a child as Charlie and I thought that really worked :)

I really thought that there were great things about the new one- namely Mr. Depp, but I do think that the original was a classic, and I don't know if anything could surpass it. The Oompa Loompas (sp?) were absolutely hilarious though, and I really enjoyed them.
I found it hard to really get a feel for the characters though. I don't know why. A lot happened in a little time, but I guess that's the way the movie was meant to be! Overall I did enjoy it.

Hrrrmmm.... I'm just pondering over the feel-for-the-characters thing you pointed out. Hrm. Um. I actually can't remember. Does that mean I didn't get a feel for them? Maybe I just wasn't paying attention. It's hard to drool over The Depp and search for meaning in characters.
Guh. My mind is too simple.
