Description: Elizabethtown

The following extracts are taken off
Cameron Crowe latest (August 2004) journal entries on the filming of 'ELIZABETHTOWN'. Bolded parts are by me:
Extracts from said journal, bolded parts are by me:
:
"... where Drew goes at the end of his longest day, the day in which he’s met much of the family he never knew, and faced his dad in the casket. It’s an 18-page sequence, a very long phone call with a lot of dialogue...
...
And then Orlando does something truly unbelievable. We set up to shoot the “master”—which is the wide shot of the entire scene, in which Drew roams the hotel room—and we’re fully expecting our leading man to tackle in it in pieces… but as we start to rehearse the scene, Bloom does the entire scene. The entire scene. Pages and pages of dialogue. And he does it with relish. This is what you call dedication to craft, and a love of the part. He’s a remarkable actor. And watching him today, I keep thinking—he’s just getting started.
...
... and Bloom’s performance (he’s a big Orlando fan, we all are)...":
"Orlando now is on the verge of his second big breakthrough, and we can all feel it.":
"Something happens in that hall of trees. Call it the music, or just the growing internal life of Orlando as Drew, but in one take this young actor’s whole working life seems to take a leap. It’s one of those breathtaking moments you dream of in a movie...
...
... when the take is over, Orlando bounds back with a soul full of oxygen and excitement and pride. He knows it, too. It’s a truly great moment, and we move onto the bridge. More greatness follows. I can’t help it, some tears squirt out as I watch Orlando walk proudly back down the bridge. Looking around, I’m not the only one dabbing tears."Felt so maternal all of a sudden after reading this, I want the film now!

Maternal you said?
Yeah, maybe I get the point! We all have been following Orlando since his very beginnings, and have been going through ups and downs, reading praising and bashing articles.
You are right. I feel proud of him in this moment, as if he were my kid, or my little brother.
*beams*

Er, right. I don't mean to doubt you but to say 'little brother' made me laugh! :lmao:

I think all of us fans believes that he can truly act, contrary to popular belief out of the fandom. Jimmy proved it even more!
Anyway, I think this journal of Cameron Crowe just about proved to the rest of the world that Orlando Bloom is not just a pretty face. Direction is very important in a film and I'm guessing both Cameron Crowe and Ridley Scott (for 'KINGDOM OF HEAVEN') would be able to bring the best out of him.
Not going to mention Legolas.

Well, you know what I really meant, don't you? It is as if he were, but he is not! Actually he is my not-so-secret-anymore object of lusting/swooning/drooling...
Eheheh!

Thank you very much, rub it in a little harder will you? I've been waiting for that rotten dvd to appear for about a whole week (which lasts for an eternity) and i still haven't been able to get my claws on one of them. I am desperate for cute boxing (Can you combine these?) Jimmy and all the time you go like: "Don't disturbe me. I'm busy watching jimmy."
And yes, there is steam coming out of my ears now from mere frustration.
Never mind love, one day it will truly be mine and then I'll be nice and quiet for the next two hours. ^_^

About the actual topic, I do think Orlando is a good actor because of 'Black Hawk Down'. He had to play this realy annoying kid that wanted to kick but, and he gave me the same feeling as with Draco Malfoy in the first Harry Potter film.
The feeling goes like this: "Can somebody kick that? Or at least pinch it very hard or make it just shut it's mouth, please."
I realy disliked him there.
I think you're good busy if you can make me hate you.
But actors are like wine, sometimes you need it.
