Title: Inside My Heart
Description: A PG13 fluffy Dom fic.

BeeSting77 - September 2, 2004 09:16 PM (GMT)
This is my first story on this board. Please review. :)

DISCLAIMER: I don't own anyone or anything related to Lord of the Rings or New Line Cinema. Don't sue, I have no cash to speak of anyways.

***************
She was bored. It had been a long day on set and she was still no where near being able to call it a day. Peter was calling for another take; all of the actors groaned and the crew shifted in response. They were just as tired.

She looked down at the clipboard in her hands. Would anyone notice if she started doodling? She cast a sideways glance around her. Everyone seemed focused on the action. Slowly she pulled out her pen.

In retrospect, she would never know why she had started the list. It had just been something that popped into her head. She began writing.

Word Association

Sean A
John
Ian
Dominic
Billy
Elijah
Orlando
Viggo
Sean B

Hmmmm. Well Sean Astin was easy enough. She scribbled down the first things that came to her.

Sean A - Father. Husband. Safety. Involved. Caring.

She looked at the next name on the list.

John - Imposing. Poise. Fearless. Self-concious. Pavorotti.

The last bit she added with a smirk. She couldn't seem to help it, but the Italian singer always came to mind when she looked at John. This was fun. Glancing around at the crew again, she made sure no one was looking before she went onto her next name.

Ian - Presence. Focused. Teasing. Advising. Superb.

"Say it again, Lucas," she murmured to herself. She looked up to make sure that no one heard her remark. Not that she thought anyone around here would get the reference. Well, maybe Liv, but she was off today.

Dominic

She bit the end of her pen. To censor herself or not? Oh hell. No one was going to see this anyways. She set her mind blank and then began to write.

Dominic - Funny. Storyteller. Twisted. Sexy. Surprising.

He was probably her favorite person to be around on set. She was always laughing when she was around Dom. And Billy. The Scot’s laughter was contagious.

Billy - Scot. Contagious. Funny. Cute. Sweet.

She set down her pen for a moment as Peter called for another take. The actors dutifully shuffled back into position and she tried to look like she was doing her job. But once the word "Action!" was heard she went back to her paper.

Elijah - Blue eyes. Boyish. Geek. Adorable. Inspiring.

It still staggered her to think that Lij had taken on this part so young. He was the central character in a huge film at the age of 18. She shook her head, marveling.

Orlando

Oh dear. She tried not to laugh as words came into her head.

Orlando - Kind. Chocolate. Silly. Gorgeous. Courageous.

It was true. She knew the young "elf boy" was going to become the hottest new commodity on the market. He just oozed sensuality. But few people realized just how goofy he could be when he chose. And the chocolate part – well she wasn’t sure on why that word sprang to mind. Was it because it was the natural color of his hair and eyes? Or was she just plain hungry? She gave a mental shrug and continues with her list.

Viggo - Artist. Gentleman. Soulful. Father. Prankster.

Viggo's work was amazing. He put himself completely into everything he was doing. Especially fatherhood. But what always caught her attention were his eyes. They spoke volumes about what he was feeling. Quite confidentially...they made her dizzy.

Sean B - Handsome. Natural. Football. Quiet. Father.

She had to admit to being drawn into the world of Richard Sharpe whenever it was on. That was all due to Sean. God knows, she wasn’t a history buff.

"Megan!"

Her head snapped up. "Sorry. What?"

"Do you have the notes for the scene?"

"Oh yeah. Right here." She lifted up the pages on her clipboard searching for the one Peter wanted. Handing them over she looked over to catch a pair of gorgeous eyes watching her. Blushing at being caught daydreaming, she turned and headed away from the cameras. Maybe a soda would help her cool off and refocus.

*&*&*&*&*

“This seat taken?”

She looked up from her book and squinted into the sunlight. She barely managed to nod. Why did he have to be so good looking? She strove for a normal tone of voice.

“Get a break from filming?” Brilliant, Megan. She mentally smacked herself in the forehead.

“Yeah. A light went out. Gonna take awhile to reset it.”

She nodded as she sipped her soda, trying to think of something more to say.

“So.” He looked down at his feet. “You think I’m twisted?”

She choked, feeling soda begin to spill from the corner of her mouth. She looked over at him. There was a twinkle to his eye, but he wasn’t smiling. Oh God, he knew.

“Did…Did all of you read it?” she stammered.

He nodded. “Billy’s a bit miffed at getting the word ‘cute’ when everyone else got handsome. And John’s not amused by the Pavorotti remark, but everyone else liked it. Said you had us pegged pretty good.”

Megan hung her head. “I’m so sorry. I was just bored. I didn’t mean to bug anybody.” She knew she was babbling but she couldn’t seem to stop. “I mean, what do you guys care what I think? You’ll be famous in a year’s time and the whole world will know who you are –“

“No one’s upset, love.”

She took a deep breath. “I …I didn’t mean that you were twisted in a bad way. Your sense of humor, your jokes, always make me laugh. Cause it’s a bit different than other people’s. It’s different. I always like different.”

“Really?” he genuinely sounded interested and Megan chanced a look at him. Yeah, he was definitely listening to what she had to say.

“Mmm-hmmm.”
He wasn’t saying anything now. She didn’t feel like she had said something wrong. Come on girl, think of something to say.

“Hey Dom,” the assistant director called, “we’re ready for you.”

That’s when she felt it. His hand covered hers for just a moment. Warm and kind and she felt her heart stutter. He squeezed lightly. “I’ll catch up with you later, kay?” He winked at her before heading back down the hill towards the set, turning back once to throw a smile her way.

Oh yeah.

She was so glad she doodled when she got bored.

BeeSting77 - September 4, 2004 02:06 AM (GMT)
She was the sexiest thing he had ever seen. The gauzy dress clung to her curves in the cool ocean air, while the sunset behind her on the water, throwing her silhouette into relief. He watched as the man next to her swiftly shed his suit coat and draped it over her shoulders. The sight swiftly changed from erotic to adorable as she was dwarfed by the large folds of material. She flashed a grateful smile at her date and then returned to the conversation.

He turned away from the sight before she noticed him staring. He took a deep pull from his longneck. How could he ever compete for her against Viggo? The man was intelligent, artistic, funny, and always a hit with the ladies. Plus, he towered over his date while Dominic knew all he could manage would be to look her in the eye. He threw a glance over his shoulder, letting his eyes roam down her gorgeous legs before landing on her feet, encased in strappy heels. Damn it. She’d be at least two inches taller than him.

Not that he hadn’t dated taller women before. But he knew this girl. She was a tough cookie, but once you got to know her it was easy to see how much she wanted a prince charming to ride in and sweep her off her feet. Dominic closed his eyes. She was an absolute angel. Unfortunately he was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t see his friend amble over to slap him on the back in greeting.

“Dammit Lij,” he growled.

“Why don’t you just go ask her to dance?” Elijah smirked at him.

“One – she’d say no. Two – she’s Viggo’s date. Three – the dance floor is empty.” Dom angrily pointed out. The makeshift dance floor was empty, people preferring to mill around the decks and chat. Besides, dancing would only point out the difference between his physique and Viggo’s.

“Well, someone has to be the first.” Lij got that sparkle in his eye that anyone who knew him recognized as the onset of trouble. “Here I’ll start.”

Before Dom could protest, Elijah was striding across the dance floor, quickly whispering a request to the DJ, and then walking over to the edge nearest the object of Dom’s affections.

“Megan!” When her head whipped around, he held his arms open. “Dance?”

She looked around at the suddenly interested party goers before bashfully shaking her head. Lij pouted, a look that had many teen fan girls screaming his name. “Well, I’m going to dance out here until you join me.” With that statement, the DJ cranked up the volume.

“Play That Funky Music White Boy” blared from the speakers as Elijah gyrated around, swinging his hips wildly. Dominic eyes widened a split second before he choked on his beer. His gaze shot to Megan who was trying to cover her laugh with her hand, not very successfully. She looked up at Viggo, whose grin split his face and nodded, just before she bent to slip off her heels and run out to Elijah on the dance floor.

“Stop before you hurt yourself,” she giggled, throwing her arms around his middle. A cheer of applause rose up from the deck as Elijah quit his crazy motions and danced with Megan properly.

Dominic felt his stomach roll. It was that easy. Lij had a beautiful woman smiling in his arms in under two minutes. Elijah said something that made her blush and Dom’s gut clenched. Viggo was talking with other guests, barely noticing the pair on the dance floor. Before Dom knew it, Lij and Megan had stopped squarely in front of him.

He was caught for a moment by her eyes. She was smiling, her cheeks were flushed, and she was looking at him with such warmth that his made his heart ache.

“Dom?” Elijah chimed in expectantly.

His eyes swiveled back to the baby blues of his friend. “What?”

Megan spread her arms out from her sides. “Dance with me?”

God, that she need even ask. Dom clumsily set his beer on the counter, blaming the clatter on condensation rather than suddenly sweaty palms. He slipped his arm around her waist as the DJ deftly slipped to a slow dance.

“Why didn’t you ask me to dance yourself?” She murmured.

“Why did you come with Viggo tonight?” he shot back.

She sighed. “Because you made me mad. All that crap about me being a pain. I’m really not a difficult woman,” she said indignantly.

“No you really aren’t.” He smiled at her. “I’m sorry I was rude earlier. But I still don’t see why that equals a date with Vig.”

She pulled back to see his face. “You’re jealous?”

“He’s a handsome, accomplished, older man. No, not jealous at all,” he groused.

“Viggo’s my friend. Just like he is yours.” She wrapped her arms back around him. “Anyways, I have my eye on someone else.” She felt him tense in her arms. She leaned forward to whisper in his sensitive ears. “A German born Brit who makes me laugh.”

He squeezed her hard. “Megan ..I..”

“Ssshhh.” Good news or bad, she wasn’t sure she wanted to hear it. “Just dance with me.”

Schmooie730 - September 4, 2004 03:31 PM (GMT)
Aww! He was jealous!

But Elijah dancing was just too funny! I can so picture that, and that frightens me!

I'm glad she decided to ask Dom to dance, too!

Great job! Please keep going!

~*Chapter 3 - The Hideaway*~

“Mmmm,” Megan arched towards him as Dom’s hand trailed down her side as he kissed her. She heard a small chuckle in response. Followed by some very noisy sounds coming from the woods behind them.

“Dom?”

“Hmm?” He murmured.

“Do you hear that?”

He stopped for a moment before hearing the telltale sounds of someone, or several someones, coming up behind them. “Wankers,” he cursed before grabbing Megan’s hand as he pulled her along behind him, deeper into the park.

Shooting had been stopped for lunch and since Dominic had chosen to spend his lunch hour with Megan, apparently some of his fellow cast members had decided to come looking for him. She loved all the fellowship, but she wasn’t too keen on them interrupting a spectacular snog-fest with her boyfriend. She had really liked the prospect of spending the remainder of the hour being pressed between Dom and a willow tree, the low branches offering them some privacy and shade. Unfortunately they had to abandon their spot for someplace with more cover.

“Dom?” she whispered. “Why are we running off?”

“’Cause I want you all to myself,” he smirked. She knew it was inappropriate at the moment but her stomach did a little flip in response to that look. Ok. She was game for finding a new hiding spot if he had more cuddling in mind. She followed behind him as quietly as possible until she was jerked downward suddenly.

“Ooof!” Dom clasped a hand over her mouth and she realized that they were under the tree roots that the four hobbits hide in. In just a few moments she heard the sounds of feet crunching along the path above them.

“Where’ve they gone?” Orlando. Ooo, she’d tan his hide later.

“They wen’ that way, I think,” a Scot’s voice sounded. Please don’t be pointing this way, Bill. As soon as they stepped over the edge, they would be able to see them.

“Guys, leave ‘em be.” Bless you Lij. You’re an angel.

“Sneaking off with a pretty lass.” Billy began to sing some imitation of bad porno music and Megan stifled a giggle. Dom, on the other hand, took the opportunity to nibble her ear. His hand barely muffled her squeal of surprise.

“Dja hear that?” Orlando, if you don’t get your arse out of here, I’ll kick your elven butt. Meanwhile, her boyfriend turned captor, didn’t seemed deterred and kissed the sensitive spot below her ear. She reached down and squeezed his thigh, satisfied when a small rush of air blew along her neck. Two could play at that game.

“Probably a bird or something. Come on, I want to play my new Radiohead CD for Ian.” ThankyouLij ThankyouLij ThankyouLij.

“I thought Ian doesna like your music.”

“He doesn’t.” She heard the laugh in Elijah voice as the group started to move off. Once they were sure no one was around, he let go of her mouth.

“You,” she pouted, “are incorrigible.”

“You know it.” She smiled again before melting into another of Dom’s patented swoon-worthy kisses.

the1ringrulesdaworld - September 6, 2004 07:51 PM (GMT)
Aww romantic moments le sigh. Orlando and Billy are idiots, dont they know you should let couples be couples? Great chappie. More soon?

~* Chapter 4 - Drinking Apologies*~

“Oh no, here he comes.” Dom looked down as Bean came striding over to where the young people were gathered. He usually didn’t come out to the pubs with them, but it seemed that tonight he was making an exception.

“Hi Sean. What’s brought you out to..,” Megan’s sentence trailed off as she noticed the glint of danger in Sean’s eye.

“You. Outside.” His voice was the same level as always, but it held much more steel. If he had been pointing at her, she would have been afraid. But as it was, he was pointing at Dom. Not much better in her opinion.

“Sean, come on mate, it was just a joke. Let me buy you a pint.” While Dom cajoled, Megan could see that Sean wasn’t buying a second of it. She had come to know them all over the last year and she had never seen Sean have such a look. He looked ready to throttle Dominic.

“Do you smell fish?” Orlando wrinkled his nose. It was true, there was the distinct odor of fish. Old smelly fish to be exact.

“Outside. Now.” Sean’s voice was coming out through clenched teeth now. Megan glanced back at Dom. He was still wearing a smile, but it didn’t touch his eyes. Oh Dommie what did you do?

“Sean?” she asked. “Would you let me buy you a drink? I’ll go shot for shot with you.” She prayed he’d take the bait.

It worked. His eyes moved from Dom to her and back again. “Aye.” He turned and strode to the bar. Megan whirled around and shot a reproachful glance at the table of hobbits, elves, and crew before following Sean.

After two full shot glasses were in front of them, along with the most decent bottle of whiskey she could afford, she asked. “So, care to tell me what that was all about?”

“Fish.” Sean tossed back his whiskey.

“So I smelled. What fish?” She poured another for him and then swallowed her own shot.

“The one he put in the bloody boot of my car,” Sean growled before taking another swig of liquor.

Megan snorted on her drink, coughing once or twice. Sean’s eyebrow lifted. “Are you laughing at me?”

“Never,” she managed to croak out, before covering her smile with her hand.

“You are,” he accused. Megan wasn’t afraid to admit it this time. The corner of his mouth was twitching up into a grin as well. She moved her hand to reveal her smile and nodded as she poured another round for them both.

“So what were you planning to do? Beat him senseless? Explain to Peter that shooting has to be delayed while some black eyes heal?” She finished off her shot, blinking her eyes a bit to refocus them. Lord, she needed to slow down. She wasn’t used to this much alcohol, this fast.

“That was the plan,” he joked as he refilled their glasses. “Didn’t think that far ahead, actually. Didn’t get much further than ‘Outside’.”

She laughed outright. “You should have seen yourself. I thought you were going to leap over the table.” She gulped down the whiskey. “Richard Sharpe, back in busimess.” Busimess? God, how many was that now? 3? 4? She prayed he hadn’t noticed.

“You watched Sharpe?” He tossed back his shot and refilled the glasses.

“Oh definetly. My roommate and I would sit down on Saturdays and have a little Sharpefest.” She smiled at him, finishing her drink, totally oblivious to letting him know about their little college crush.

“History buff?”

“Hardly.” She giggled at Sean’s blush. Imagine that a man of his talent, with his looks, seemed daunted by a little feminine appreciation. She reached for the bottle only to have a warm hand clasp over hers. She followed the line of the hand wrapped around hers, up an arm, and to a frowning face. “Dommie! Sit down, have a drink.”

“I think you’ve had enough.” He set the bottle further away from her. “You normally don’t have more than two beers.”

“That’s my bottle, I paid for it, and I intend to drink it,” she stated indignantly.

“You’re going to be sick in the morning.”

“Better than you habbing a black eye in the morning,” she retorted.

Sean laughed, tossed a twenty on the bar. “Thanks for the drink luv.” He walked past Dom slapping him on the shoulder. The familiar Sean had resurfaced.

“Anytimbe,” she called after him. Megan tried to stand only to land rather hard on the stool again. “Whoops.”

“What am I going to do with you?” Dom shook his head.

“Take me home?”

fLower! - September 8, 2004 01:38 PM (GMT)
Hahahaha!
Megan rocks! It was nice of her to rescue Dommie! :P LOL
But yeah, he will have to take her home after that!!!

Megan is sweet trying to protect Dom.

Great chappie.

BeeSting77 - September 9, 2004 07:56 PM (GMT)
I wish I could take credit for thinking up the fish thing on my own, but actually I took it from a story that Dom told. He really DID do that to Sean's car! The rescal. ;)

Ambrosia - September 10, 2004 01:13 AM (GMT)
hahhahaah! The fish in the boot story! Oh, I remember when I heard that for the first time. I was quite surprised that he would do something so mean, then laugh about it. Really, that is a horrid smell! he's lucky Sean didn't whip his tiny, cute little bum. ^_^

Go Megan! She rescued him.

BeeSting77 - September 10, 2004 06:19 PM (GMT)
~*Chapter 5 - The Phone Call*~

Megan rested her head against the warm skin of Dom's chest. She breathed in the smell of him. Aftershave, sweat, and the smell she solely identified as his. She traced her fingers across his chest. "Dom?"

He grunted a response. She could tell he was almost asleep. She hated to bring this up when they were so relaxed and comfortable, she wasn't sure she would be able to sleep if she didn't get some of this resolved.

"What happens when the filming is over? To us I mean."

He was definitely awake now. She hated the way he stiffened whenever she mentioned her feelings for him. But by God, they had been sleeping together for nearly six months. He couldn't be surprised that she wanted SOME definition of where this was going.

"I don't know. I suppose I'll go wherever the next project takes me. Probably something back in England." He scrubbed a hand over his face. How she wished he would touch her, just a small reassurance.

"What will you do?" he asked her.

Something about that statement made her feel so alone. She asked about 'us' and he asked what would 'you do'. "I'm really lucky to have gotten the job with New Line. I suppose I'll go wherever they send me next." I'd quit and go with you if you asked me to, Dom. Just if you asked.

"Well, you'll get to see all kinds of places then." He yawned.

She nodded. She blinked her eyes rapidly to dispel the tears gathering. It was like seeing the end of their time together. She still had three months before the end of the shoot, but she still felt it in her heart.

He would leave her.

She desperately wanted to memorize everything. The way his chest felt, the slight snore he would launch into once he fell asleep. How good he looked with a day's worth of stubble along his jaw

It was her own fault. She knew that. He had never promised her anything. Their time together had been the most amazing time in her life, but she couldn't force him to feel the same way. She was afraid if she looked at him he would see everything. He would see that she loved him.

Swallowing her fear, she pasted on a weak smile and raised herself up on her elbow. "Promise you wont forget me?"

He reached up and traced his thumb down her cheek. "I promise." She felt her eyes flutter close at the combination of his touch and that rumble his voice took on when he was in her bed. His thumb skimmed over her lips.

Her lips parted of their own accord and Dom's hand reached around to cup the back of her head. He pulled her down to him, his mouth fusing with her as she eased her leg up and over his hip.

Round two, it seemed.

*&*&*&

Megan stood near the fan in the large studio. Fangorn Forest was recreated on the small sound stage in front of them, but with all the lights it took to create the artificial sunlight, they may as well have recreated Arizona. She held her hair away from her neck as she tried to fumble through the pages she had for the scene.

Suddenly the worst thing that that can happen on set occurred. Her cell phone went off.

"Damnit," the muttered trying to fumble for the cell in her pocket while looking around to see if anyone who might be construed as higher up than her, had heard. Why hadn't she put the damned thing on silent?

Someone helpfully took the clipboard out of her hands. She glanced up in to the pale green eyes of a hobbit. "Thanks Billy," she grinned as she finally retrieved the ringing contraption of convenience. She swatted at Billy's hand as he started to rummage through the pages.

"Just checking for anymore lists," he winked.

She rolled her eyes at him before speaking into the phone. "Megan here."

Billy quickly glanced back down at the pages in his hand. No doodlings, or lists that he could see. He pulled at the collar of his cape. Hopefully, they would stop for lunch soon and get a break from the heat of the crafted forest. He glanced up at Megan and stopped.

Her face had gone pale and her other hand was pressed to her chest. "Is she going to be alright?" was all she uttered before she fell silent again. Billy had seen people receive bad news before and gently steered Megan over to the wall. She looked like she was about to fall over and he preferred she did it against the solid studio wall than on the wetta inhabited floor

"I'm on my way." She snapped the phone closed and took a deep breath before shoving it back into her jean pocket. Her eyes latched onto Billy. "Tell Peter I've got a family emergency and I'm sorry. If you can get him those notes, and tell him I'll call him when I'm in the air." She turned to leave and then thought better of it. "Tell Dom....tell him....oh never mind."

She strode out of the building leaving Billy with a clipboard, a few scraps of information, and a sinking feeling in his stomach.

Ahh! Poor Megan!! :(

I hope everything's alright... And Dom can do SOMETHING! <_<

Oh no! What happened? I feel bad for Megan. Why does Dom want to end it when filming finishes? That's no good. Bad Dom!

~* Chapter 6 - Two Months in Limbo*~

Megan carried the tray of food into the kitchen, scrapping the leftovers into the trash. She tried to keep her mind blank, but the monotonous task of soaping and rinsing dishes let her mind wander.

The last two months had been harder than anything she could imagine. Her mother had been in a car crash. The damage to the rest of her body had been minimal, just a broken leg. But the crack of her head against the door had rendered her blind. Megan had spent thirteen agonizing hours in the air, praying that the diagnosis was wrong. Doctors had given her little hope about her mother regaining her sight. Perhaps when the swelling went down and blood clots were reabsorbed, she might be able to se shadows, the difference between night and day, but little else. There was too much damage.

Which had left Megan to take care of her mother back in their small apartment in Indiana. Her parents had divorced when she was seven. The only other living relative was her grandfather who was living in a nearby nursing home. When her mother was asleep, Megan visited her grandpa, although usually he mistook her for his daughter.

She sniffed, realizing she was crying. Although she tried to pull herself together, the sobs came, wracking her body. Pressing her face to a dish towel, she muffled her cries. The last thing her mother needed to hear was her own pity. Megan knew she should be concentrating on the woman who had raised her, but she couldn’t stop the wellspring of pity.

She had lost a great job. The filming opportunity of a lifetime. Although New Line assured her that she could come back when she was ready, there was so much she was missing.

She had lost the man she loved. Megan tried not to kid herself. She knew Dom didn’t want to get serious. He would have said so if he wanted that, wouldn’t he? And it wouldn’t have worked out with all the traveling they both would have done. But she missed him terribly. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t have done to sleep in his arms again.

Her independence was gone. And her life as she knew it had totally disappeared. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. Her mother had wanted a cup of tea and was probably wondering what was taking so long.

Setting the water to boil, she suddenly felt an overcoming wave of nausea. Sprinting down the hall, she barely made it to the bathroom before her stomach emptied its contents. Once the nausea subsided, she rinsed her mouth out and looked into the mirror. The last thing she needed right now was to catch a stomach bug. She laughed to herself. If she and Dom hadn’t been so careful she could almost imagine she was –

No.

The memory of the last night they had spent together came rocketing back. The night she had asked him about their future. The night she was desperate to make memories worth keeping. The night when he had slid into her again with nothing between them.

Oh God.

She tried to think back to her last period. With the drama at home she had barely noticed. She bit her lip in concentration. Her last period had been in New Zealand. She had been home for nearly…two months.

“Oh God.” She felt her knees buckle beneath her and she sat down hard on the bathroom floor tile. The loud thud reverberated through the wall. “Megan, honey? Are you ok?” her mother called out from the next room.

“I’m fine.” Just fine. I’m jobless, taking care of my recovering mother and pregnant by a man on the other side of the planet.

Just peachy.

The tea kettle whistled.

Obh no. She has to tell Dom she does. She can't go through this on her own. Poor Megan. Great chapter by the way.

WOW! That was so well written! Her mom is blind now? that's horrible.

And she may be pregnant! She has to tell Dom. She really does. Or she can get a full time nurse or something to stay with her mom while she works again.

This is crazy!

Thats so sad about her mom. Poor Megan, too! It's got to be rough to give up so much, even if it is so you can care for a loved one. And, now, pregnancy! I wonder if she will tell Dom. hmmmm.

Really great stuff! I am so loving this story.

Fun fic! I love how you write all of the characters and all your little moments--funny and sweet.

I'm really nervous about Megan's situation; I hope she will be okay!

~*Chapter 7 - Decisions, decisions….*~

“Dominic, why don’t you just call her?” Orlando sighed.

“She ran off without a word. She can call me,” he growled. Although he hated to admit it, she hurt him by not confiding in him, leaving Billy to pass on news of a ‘family emergency’. He missed her. And it was painfully obvious to his friends.

“You know, part of a ‘family emergency’ is the emergency bit. Maybe she really had to take off.”

“And not call in over two months?” His voice was rising now and he was unable to help it. He took a deep breath. The rest of the set didn’t need to hear about his love life. Or the shambles of.

“You have no idea what she might be dealing with!” Orlando shot back. “Finances, illness, death…”

“Why are you defending her?!” He wanted his friends to be on his side despite the fact that he knew Orli had point.

“Because she loves you. She wouldn’t leave without a reason.”

The words hung in the air. Megan had never said she loved him. He wished she would have. At times it was all he could do to keep from telling her, to keep from begging her to go back to England with him. The last night that they had spent together, he was holding his breath, waiting, hoping for her to say that her plans were to go with him. But he knew she loved her job. She had often joked, “How else am I going to see the world for free?” And when he was traveling it would be difficult to see each other. The only way to be sure she could come with him, would be to hire her on as his personal assistant, but he didn’t like the idea of keeping a woman who shared his bed on salary. And he was pretty sure that Megan would spit on that offer too.

But there was little point in talking to her about it now. Not when she had disappeared. “If she had loved me she would have told me her reason for going,” Dom mumbled, doubt filling his voice.

“If you loved her you would have found out.”

Dom frowned, deep in thought. Did he really put all of the blame for this on her? God he was being a git. Before he could reach for his cell, Orlando snatched it off the table, quickly searching through the phone list. “It’s ringing,” Orlando said as he pushed the phone back at Dom. What was he going to say? He didn’t have much time to think before he heard a tentative answer on the other end.

“Hello?” He could tell immediately that she had seen on the caller ID that it was his phone calling her.

“Hello Meg.”

He heard a tiny intake of breath and then a shakey exhale. “Dom.” She swallowed. “How are you?”

“Alright I suppose.” He took a deep breath and plunged ahead. “I miss you. Where are you honey?”

Several seconds of silence followed. “Indiana.”

“What happened? Is everything ok?”

“Um…no, I guess you couldn’t really say that.” He heard another woman speaking in the distance – (“The doctor will see you now.”) “Ok. Dom, I gotta go.”

“Megan, are you alright?” Slow down man. She could just be there for a regular check up.

“It was good to hear from you Dom. Bye.” The soft click at the other end told him she had ended the conversation.

“What’s happened?” Orlando looked concerned, his eyebrows drawing together.

“I don’t know. She’s not telling me.” He tried to think. He still had another month of shooting to do before principal photography was finished. He couldn’t go gallivanting off to The States, even if it was after the woman he loved. “Damn, and I can’t leave until the end of the shooting schedule.”

“I’d call her everyday until then.” Orlando advised.

“No, you don’t know Meg. I mean, like I know her. She’ll won’t answer if she doesn’t want to speak to me. I can’t push her like that.” He sat down to tried and come up with a plan.

She should tell him, but plans are good. Go get her Dom NOW!!

Great chapter. Least he's trying to talk to her, but after 2 months. Too longs. They're both as bad as each other.

fLower! - September 15, 2004 11:37 PM (GMT)
Bah, two stubborns we got here!!
They should've both told each other what they thought and felt when they were still together!!

:(

But now it's not too late! (I hope!)
Do something!! Both of yaaa!!

Ambrosia - September 16, 2004 12:13 AM (GMT)
Eek! Megan! Silly girl. Talk to your boy. And, Dom, don't be so stubborn. When filming is over, I expect you to go 'gallivanting' off to the states!

You're doing a beautiful job with this story. :yay:

Schmooie730 - September 16, 2004 12:43 AM (GMT)
Go galavanting!!!!!!!!!! Or at least try talking to her again and again until she caves!
