Title: Fire
Description: make a cool fire effect

pyro3k - January 30, 2005 10:01 AM (GMT)
here is a quick tut on how to make ace fire..

1) start a new sheet with a black background, create a new layer and draw a white line across the bottom with the brush tool.

note- the size of the line will determine the size of flames so if you want real big flames use a thick brush.

2) select the smudge tool user posted image and set strength to 50% and the same size brush as you did for your line. Now move your mouse up through the line swerving as you do to create flames

3) now go to image-->adjustments-->gradient map and select the orange to yellow gradiant.

you should now have the following

4) duplicate your flame layer and set the top layer to "color dodge"

now go to image --> adjustments-->hue/saturation and adjust the hue & sat values till you get the fire color you are after.

5) now just select the top most layer and press "ctrl+e" to merge the 2 layers together.

and finally go back to image --> adjustments-->hue/saturation and tweak the hue & sat values to get your desired effect.

Hi Metalhead...
Tut`s are good....New AND older....

hop_on7 - February 3, 2005 09:01 AM (GMT)
I agree, why does it matter if its new, old, original or copied?

Pyro3k didn't claim to have invented it, he just made a great tutorial on how it's done.

im sorry you think that. I can asure you I have not copied this from someone else with the intent to portrait it as my own. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.

hmmm Metalhead, best keep those sorts of comments to yourself. You have made no contributions to this board other than that single comment.

Have you guys seen how many clicks this thread has received? 4028 clicks and counting! WOW thats a lot of people.

Thanks for the TUT, the fire looks better than using some plug-ins that you can get and easier to control where you want the flames.

Awesome. How do you add an image into the back? I suck with photoshop, and im trying to learn how to make signatures.

Deep Kick - February 7, 2005 11:14 PM (GMT)
it might not be a case of you "suck" at photoshop you might be amazing, you just need a little guidance first of all you need to find a tut that will teach you how layers work

Spike - February 7, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
