Ok i just watched Gia, starring Angelina Jolie and all i can say is wow. this movie, based on a true story, is about a young girl's struggle with drugs. she wants to be a model and so she goes to new york to make herself big. she doesnt realize that doing this would jeapordize every relationship she had. Gia acts like a baby sometimes; she begs for someone to do something, and when they refuse, she throws a fit. this is mostly the reason why she cant keep any of her relationships. so she keeps going through these things where everyone is leaving her, including the girl she falls in love with, Linda. As things keep happening, she starts to become addicted to drugs. There's no way to stop her. she checks herself into rehab so she can stay with linda, but soon breaks all of her promises because of her addiction. she is forced to work again for money, but when she becomes sick from withdrawal symptoms, shes forced to find a drug dealer and relieve herself. she doesnt know at the time but the guy she shares needles with is infected with HIV and she gets AIDS later on in the story. then she is forced to choose between linda and drugs..first swaying towards linda but then the drugs. but anyway, she is forced to check herself into rehab and this time the program works and she calls up linda and apologizes that her drug use ruined both of their lives. and for the record shes documenting her life in this journal she has. she writes the last page after she discovers she has AIDS and gives the journal to linda, but doesn't tell her that she'll never see her again. we watch as gia, who always had a positive outlook on life, slowly dies from the AIDS disease. before she died, however, she wanted to make a film to teach kids about drugs and the effects. they never got the camera for it. gia slipped into death after one hard last night, and uses this movie to teach people about the effects of drugs. i was so touched by this movie...it has left a pretty big impact on me. angelina jolie's performance is something that i can never forget...what a powerful movie.
I Think Gia is an amazing film. It is very real in its approach of the subject. I own the dvd and I must add it has been one of my favorites for a long time. i cried when I first watched Gia, I still cry now.
Have you ever read the book about Gia Carangi? It is an account of her and the era she lived in, it is good insight into her career and the decline of it through the drug taking.
It is rumoured that Angelina and Elizabeth's onscreen chemistry went off screen too. I thought they looked so hot together in the film tho.
very moving,tragic story.
nope i havent read the book but i will check it out. i agree this film conveyed a really moving story.
