Description: Vote for your fave lesbian movie

Hi
The results to the last post where accidently deleted, cos Im a d**K head.Sorry, but It was a close thing anyway.
I have put up a new vote in which you can post your replies too. Its for best Lesbian movie/Drama(Sorry if that bores any straight peeps out there, but its all good.)

I am voting for Oranges are not the only fruit because at the time it was probably the first ever lesbian movie I saw and I remember reading the novel too. It was one of the most eye opening books I read and the movie really did it justice.
I have always been a fan of the writer Jeanette Winterson, so its a big thumbs up from me.

Hot second would have to be Heavenly Creatures though, because I just love the whole fantasy aura about it and the love. Its one of those films that sucks you in and you feel good, but the end leaves you with mixed feelings.(Well it does me anyway, Im just weird.lol.)

Thanks
Jo

I voted Heavenly Creatures... it was one of those films that left you dumbfounded by the end. I loved it...

Although, I didn't think of it as a "lesbian film" per sea... since their relations were for the sake of fantasy. To me it was more masterbation? Any thoughts?

Still... one of my top ten favorite movies... and since it was on the list... I had to hook it up with at least one vote!!

I understand what you mean about Heavenly Creatures. It doesn't really classify as a straight out and out lesbian film, It could be true life,Drama,Romance,Crime,Fantasy, lol. I think its good because we all have our own feelings about it.
My way of understanding the film is that the two girls are drawn to one another through escapism. Like Paul was always a sort of loner, Juliette was the new comer and through their love of fantasy, through the reading and writing they created their own little world and become totally engrossed. They later find themselves in this love affair through the eyes of their make believe characters.
Once together they fear no one and will not be driven apart. Thus finally being forced to murder because they see this the only way they can stay together.
I think the scene where they are both in the bath is good because when they look at each other you wonder if both of them see one another or just the make believe characters they created. Its very impacting to their lives. Plus Kate Winslets eyes are cute.lol.
Mmmm well i rambled enough as usual. I should change my name to Ms Random Ramble.Lmao.
Anyway thanks for the reply

Tuff choice....but i went with BIAC....

I really love Gia....and i think L&D is good too...but their both sooooo depressing, BIAC is not only good, but puts a smile on my face too :)

I see what you are saying... and you are absolutely right. We are never made clear whether or not the girls have a true attraction for each other or if it's solely on a role playing basis. They make it tough to decipher... like Pauline picturing Juliet while she was having sex with (Steve?).

I've never had a chance to read (or even find) excerpts from Pauline Parker's journal. (Other than the ones used in the film.) I think it would be a cool read, but unforunately it seems they have both completely seperated themselves from that part of their lives.

Either way... a VERY interesting and entertaining film.

VOTE FOR HEAVENLY CREATURES!!!

Well from what I heard Paul became a writer and had several hits, but she writes under a different name for obvious reasons.lol. I too think it would be very interesting to read her diaries, to see what was actually going through her mind.
For some strange reason I always seem to remember two lines from the film more than any other.
"It's all frightfully romantic"
Its by Witcombe and Coombs"lol. the diary.

It makes me laugh how he says it to to try and make the present seem better. Actually thats one thing I would love for a present that no one has ever in my life bought me, A diary, How strange is that.lol. Normally your life is full of people buying you diaries.

"Finding the key"

Oh about the Steve/Jon(I must watch it now, Im confused.) bit. I think that she pictures him as being her creative character so she sleeps with him to continue the story as such. But deep down she wants it to be Juliette because she is falling in love with her.
Like when they realized that they had the key all along. The key they talk about I think is love. They had it all along.
It really is a film which makes you think. I love it because you can construde it any way you want really.

im not sure if anyone here has seen May with Anna Faris (Scary movie trilogies, the hot chick) and Angela Bettis (Girl, interrupted)....its a very very disturbing movie...but thats not the point. may is angela bettis and she falls in love with this guy...(little backround info tho: may worships a doll because she has no other friends) so the dude thinks shes all weird and stops going out with her. then anna faris who plays this girl polly comes in and kisses her so may gets attracted to her. so she goes to polly's house and they hook up and do whatnot..i shall not spoil that part...now polly is a slut. so she finds another girl and is her girlfriend right in front of may....so may chops them both up. the whole thing at the end was that she was so angry at life and all the people in it and she sees that only parts of people are good. like the guy in the beginning she was obsessed with his hands, he was obsessed with polly's neck, and her girlfriends legs...so she makes a human doll in hopes to make at least one friend. anyway! the movie is very disturbing but i was wonderin if anyone saw it cuz the sex scene is pretty steamy. but anyway...biac is the only other lesbian movie i have seen so biac is my choice.
