Title: Bubbly Drinks
Margot - May 18, 2004 11:49 PM (GMT)
I was just looking at the results of this question online. I think it's an interesting question b/c we say pop in Michigan and I heard like no other state says it. I guess it drives the other states nuts......It drives me crazy to hear anything but POP!!
Clea probably says soda though.......I guess i can learn to live with that ;)

I tried to vote Margot, however, this message comes up telling me in short that there's something wrong with my noggin. I call them soft drinks. I actually don't know why I call it that, because they're nasty and sharpo in yer throat. Not soft and smooth and gentle like the name would give way. Super funny, I worked on this island for 5 months with all american customers and the owners were also American. They always used to say pop in the cutest way. Well the people from Minnesota did anywho. I loved the accents from the south and they loved mine. They'd always make me say "out and about in a boat" although I didn't think ti was as funny as they thought.

I dont like pop.....but it always interests me what other people call it!! this is my little research study i guess :D
One of my friends went to school in new york and he said everyone would get so mad at him b/c he said pop......i never really thought about it before....
Thats weird that people from minnosota were asking you to say things that emphasize your accent (maybe you met the southern people)....b/c my grandma is from canada and people from places like the U.P. in michigan....and wisconsin/minnosota sound canadian to me.....hmmmmmm.....

I say soda...the poll didn't work for me. It drives me nuts to hear POP. It's just a funny word and it's called SODA!!! ::pretending to get all mad bu I'm not really::

My step mum is from Stoke which is North/ Midland Area of england and she calls it pop, i hate it too, but Soda isn't really a word we use much here, so I say soft drink.
p3ngu - May 20, 2004 10:00 AM (GMT)
I just call it coke or pepsi ! But we use to have a guy who would deliver big bottles of all fizzy drinks like dandiline and burdock (spelling a bit ify) and he was always known as the "pop man"!
Linz - May 20, 2004 02:59 PM (GMT)
LOL...The pop man. THat's funny...I don;t really know why.
Idle_Shit - May 20, 2004 11:41 PM (GMT)
well where i come from pop means fart so I think fizzy drink is the best word for it seen as they are fizzy drinks.
Kate - May 21, 2004 09:35 AM (GMT)
I call them mixers ;)
"Oi! More Rum and less coke, ye bastard!"
Linz - May 21, 2004 04:06 PM (GMT)
Mmmmm...mixers ALWAYS have alcohol in them. Definately a Gin and Tonic girl I am. Mmmmmmmm...I could go for one right now.
Idle_Shit - May 21, 2004 11:00 PM (GMT)
I love Archers and Lemonade, but I'm not so keen on Mixers in all my drinks, I like Drambuwi on its own, mostly archers on its own, and well they are the only spirits I drink, more of a beer or baileys girl.
Smidge - May 21, 2004 11:57 PM (GMT)
Gin and tonic kinda of girl eh Linz? I'll second that emotion. The only slight problem with my love of gin is that I get particularily roudy after a few...maybe 10 or so. You know one leads to ten of course. Advantadges of gin are also apparent however. I build alot of liquid courage with gin, I once threw cake in my friends face because he was being pervy. Ahhhh...gin

All the old hags in Eastenders drink Gin and Tonic... Not saying you're old hags  just that thats what they all drink, like Pat
Kate - May 22, 2004 04:21 AM (GMT)
 Yeh! My auntie always orders a G&T....
Gin is cool though, and I like GinTeals and their variations, but Gin is a depressant so I have to figure out my mood before I start on it.

:$ When i was about 9 my family and I walked down the canal to this little pub with a garden and all that...anyways I used to hear them all saying I'll have and Gin and Tonic on easties so i thought the tonic was alcoholic, and the thought of gin scared me so I asked for a tonic and orange :w00t: everyone was laughing at me and I didn't understand why. :$
Smidge - May 24, 2004 07:07 AM (GMT)
*pulls knife out of heart* Idle.....old hag from eastenders....*sniff* I mean I have a few grey hairs at 22....maybe I am an old hag *whaaaaaa*
It's alright though I guess...all my friends make fun of me for drinking skagggie drinks. I also love a Tom Collins...those drink are for such old farts that I often have to tell the bartender how to make them. Yknow...I've always felt like George Burns stuck in the body of a young woman...I've always felt like I'm too old for my friends. Not to sound conceited but, I was the first to move out, to get a job...yknow all that stuff. Yet I am chronologically the youngest...strange.
Good heavens, I must start to act younger and pretend to be cool by drinking bacardi coolers ;) .

Yes, and swear a lot. All the kids are doing that, these days.
PS. If you hear someone ordering a "cardi" it's not a woollen coat, it's short for barcadi - don't get out your knitting needles. haven't we learnt that lesson the hard way! :$

I like my gin and tonics. They are an old lady drink, but they are also a gay boy drink. So im' ok with that. I am definately a gay boy trapped in a Lesbians body. It's all good. I am also a martini drinker. All kinds. Mmmmmm the pure alcohol is amazing. Definately something to try.

Idle_Shit - May 24, 2004 11:01 PM (GMT)
I have decided to become a bud girl, just Bud all the time, I love bailey's but it's so expensive and never lasts me longer than a minute, so Bud it is, at least I can take the bottle with my onto the dance floor and it won't annoy me to much.
Linz - May 25, 2004 09:26 PM (GMT)
I feel that dancing convienience defiately decides waht I'm drinking. FOr example, If I'm at the midway for dyke night (RIP) I drink gin and tonics (m9ostly because they are hella strong and only 4 bucks!) If I am anywhere else I usually drink red stripe. Jamacian beer that has no neck. PHENOMINAL!
Idle_Shit - May 25, 2004 10:20 PM (GMT)
I just brought a big bottle of cider for my evenings, I don't know why because i recently had a bad experience with mixing cider and drambuwi *gags* I was sick in a wife beater glass.
Stokley - November 7, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
I never call one drink the same thing. Like right now I may May call a coke a coke and then in five minutes call it a soda then in five more minutes call it a pop.
