Title: How To Make A Monster
Description: seen it?

Crystie - March 28, 2004 06:29 PM (GMT)
ok have you guys seen how to make a monster? yes very very very disturbing movie. very gory and gross. but clea kicked major ass...i liked her lines at the end...what do you guys think of that movie?

Crys - March 28, 2004 08:42 PM (GMT)
I thought it was an alright movie. I usually pop it in when I have my "bad scary movie marathon" weekends. It was too predictable, and I thought Clea's character changed too quickly. I enjoyed it though.

I love the Evilution Demon. I have an action figure (because I am a nerd). *nod*

Kate - March 29, 2004 08:33 AM (GMT)
Yeh, it's funny... I mean, it's not strictly a comedy, but that doesn't get in the way of it's funniness.

Clea's character did a complete 180, but who cares! It's fun to watch sometimes.

'cause she learned

Kate - March 29, 2004 10:39 AM (GMT)
"You'll learn intern, you'll learn" my all time favourite Clea quote used on a work experience kid in the office. No one else got it, but I did and that's the most important thing.

Do you really think she "learned" or do you think it was an act? I mean, when I saw *ohhh spoliers* that her reflection was the monster, I thought "Hang Onnn" and then I think I went and got a drink or something.

Yep  'cause (spoilers ahead ;)) of all the bad experiences: her boyfriend, the ppl she trusted, her boss - they were all bad, while she was nice. And the time she turned bad, things were better for her: no asshole boyfriend anymore, the $1 mio bonus gave her the firm = her own business - and she even told her new intern: "Don't be nice!" - followed by your favorite Clea quote "You'll learn intern, you'll learn" so life isn't nice, and (from time to time) you have to be a monster

I didn't really enjoy it very much, not really my kind of thing i guess.

Linz - March 29, 2004 02:39 PM (GMT)
I thought that the movie really sucked...BUT I think that the story had loads of potential. And Clea did a great job in it. Other than the actual monster who was pretty cool, Clea was the best part....and that is me being unbiased.

I really liked that movie. it's so funny and a nice remake. :ph43r:

Angua - April 12, 2004 01:42 PM (GMT)
Remake? What's the title of the original movie?

Dr. Nick - April 12, 2004 01:49 PM (GMT)
 The original tilte (surprisingly) is How to make a Monster

Angua - April 12, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
Well thank you, I appreciated the link more than the name. But if you ask stupid questions you get stupid answers.

I don't think that i was a stupid question. remakes don't have always the same titel than the originals.

I don't know if u r interested in the following facts, but since I spend some time researching I wanna show u my results:

Around 1955 Ed Wood wrote a script for Bela Lugosi in which he should portrait an make-up artist who creates real monsters. American International Pictures (AIP) turned it into a film in 1958, called How To Make A Monster.
In 2001 AIP started to remake 10 of their old films out of the 50s. One of these was How To Make A Monster (2001). Thats the reason why this film is dedicated to the memory of Samuel Z. Arkoff and Jams H. Nicholson the founders of AIP.

HBO broadcasted 5 of the remakes (Creature Films):
1) how to make a monster
2) I was a teenage werewolf
3) earth vs the spider
4) the she-creature
5) teenage cave man
(hope that's correct)

btw How to make a Monster was nominated for best make-up effects in 2002.

I still like that film. :ph43r:

Ed Wood dominates! Have you seen "Glen or Glenda?"

Angua - April 13, 2004 04:51 PM (GMT)
Yeah I like it, but I'm more of a sci-fi person so my favorite is Plan 9. Anyone seen Ed Wood by Tim Burton? I really like all the characters around him. It would have been real cool if Ed Wood was alive today, I really would have liked to see Clea in a horror movie by Ed Wood.

not to it's full lenght. shame on me I know. :ph43r: but I really adore Ed Woods work...it's so great 2 watch his films considering the sometimes boring perfectionism around hollywood. :geek:

I copy that. Clea D. would fit well into an Ed Wood film. I guess she would really enjoy it. :w00t:

Kate - April 15, 2004 09:03 AM (GMT)
Yes, I hired 'Ed Wood' for the Depp factor, but I stayed for the character. A cross-dresser who makes really crap horror/sci-fi? Hello!

"Pull the string! Pull the string!"

(Oh, Americans... by 'hire' I mean that I rented/borrowed the DVD. OK? OK!)

Angua - April 16, 2004 05:42 PM (GMT)
Ok this is a little of topic, but can you really borrow something if you have to pay for it?

I mean isn't free of charge kind of like a part of borrow?

(you have to excuse my strange questions, but I'm taking a philosophy class right now)

Miss A. - April 17, 2004 12:51 AM (GMT)
I haven't really thought about it in too much depth, but i thought borrow was just taking and returning...?

Angua - April 17, 2004 01:52 PM (GMT)
Ok but if that's the truth then why have we words like hired (or rent)?

I mean you borrow a book at the library and you hire a movie. And you borrow a sweater from a friend and you hire a carpenter. Am I right or what?

that's part of the ideomatic expression.

that's just the difference between the use of colloquial language and formal language.
nothing mystical... ^_^

Angua - April 18, 2004 09:07 AM (GMT)
Oh crap and here I was thinking I was onto something. But just you wait soon I'll have another question just like this one, which you'll have to answer. I blame my philosophy teacher, I do need to stop blaming people. I take full responsibility, it's all my fault.

Maria - April 19, 2004 02:52 PM (GMT)
Angua I get your point ;) In swedish we say rent/"hyra" something, is when we pay for it, for example a movie. And if we borrow/"lånar" a sweater from a friend it's a different thing. And yeah filosophy classes makes you "nuts" ;)

And about the movie, I think it was so much better then I thought it would be. Clea was such a cute girl in this movie (duh! as always) and she kicked ass when she killed the monster ;)
Too bad that her boyfriend was played by one of my fav male actors. I wonder if he and Clea got to meet IRL ;) He always get those bad guys roles. Well well... The movie was like I said so much better then I thought it would be and I'm so easily scared that I had to take my little dog to protect me
Even though I love "horror" movies..

Angua - April 19, 2004 06:02 PM (GMT)
Ok that's nice I'm all correct in Swedish, but I can't handle the English part. That's just great, but I guess I should be happy that I get it right in some language.

The Movie's kind of good, but I wouldn't say it was scary. More funny, it's alwasy fun with gore. But I really liked Clea. There's nothing she coould do that I wouldn't think was great. Hell she's a smoker, but it doesn't matter I still like her.

GrahamEaton - April 20, 2004 01:44 PM (GMT)
For me, the smoker aspect isn't a negative, it's part of the allure. As horrible as it is, when certain women smoke, it is about the sexiest thing on the planet. And Clea is one of the very sexiest. Come on.... those scenes in BIAC? Damn!

Maria - April 20, 2004 02:38 PM (GMT)
Exactly! And she smokes Lucky Strike :P Okey those cigarettes are really soft and "easy" to smoke but its a original punk rock cigarettes haha. And I love to smoke, it makes me calm. And I also think it's sexy with women who smokes!

And I'm so easily scared, and would a monster like in this movie hunt me I would so pee in my pants haha.

Dr. Nick - April 20, 2004 04:52 PM (GMT)
:ermm: Oh no :o smoking is not cool, nor sexy ... do you really think stinking like an ashtray is sexy? >< :/ it's disgusting :$
 it really hurts to see Clea killing herself with this stinking shit

Angua - April 20, 2004 05:30 PM (GMT)
QUOTE (GrahamEaton @ Apr 20 2004, 08:44 AM)

Yes, well it works on screen, but would you really like to sit next to her while she was blowing smoke into your eyes..?....Oh crap, I would.

But that's just because it's Clea. Smoking is still very deadly and very stupid.

Ok when I wrote that How to make a Monster wasn't scary I thought about the film, but I would probably get an heart attack if I were chased by that monster. In reality I'm a real chicken. Last night I couldn't sleep because I thought I heard someTHING outside my window.

Crystie - April 20, 2004 06:17 PM (GMT)
Yes ever getting chased by that monster i might have **** myself. i got scared just seeing the dude with the metal balls for eyes. but anyway...smoking with clea could be considered sexy cuz shes clea but if she continues then its not gonna end up pretty. she might have to stop acting and thats really not cool. she said she is cutting down though. i hope she is because with the results of smoking shes gonna look older soon and thats not cool either

Linz - April 21, 2004 10:36 PM (GMT)
Ok...NO one shoot me for this, but I think that Clea IS Sexy when she is smoking. I don't think that it's healthy, or in anyway good for her, but sometimes, when people smoke who are that attractive, just look mysterious to me and hence look sexy. But who am I to tlak, I used to smoke so it wouldn't bother me if she did.

Miss A. - April 22, 2004 01:40 AM (GMT)
I pretty much agree with everyone here. Smoking = not cool because it's bad for you and all of that other stuff. I don't find it very appealing in real life. But, there are certain people who can pull it off and make it look very sexy. Granted, these people are usually sexy without the smoking too.
