Title: But I'm A Cheerleader
Description: Infamous Love Scene

GrahamEaton - February 27, 2004 11:49 AM (GMT)
We've had this discussion before but I don't think it was on this board. I'm just curious because last time we got a lot of different answers and as I was watching it last night, I was again a lil curious... Because personally, I still like to think it was the lil doghouse. I don't know why I think that but that's just what I always assumed. I think it's because of the lighting, and the way it seems so cramped.

iloveclea - February 27, 2004 01:59 PM (GMT)
the dog house was mad small... i don't think that was it because they seemed to have more room. and they definately had the pink blanket and sheets... so i'm leaning towards they were on the extra bed that is used for the simulations later.

Crystie - February 27, 2004 09:58 PM (GMT)
i picked the simulation bed but ya know im not too sure. i mean sinead saw them get up...ya think they maybe went over to jans old bed cuz i think those girls wouldnt be too much of asses and rat them out as soon as they saw sumthin so maybe it was jans old bed.....or it coulda been the simulation bed cuz of the pillows...who knows?

Kate - February 28, 2004 12:27 AM (GMT)
Yeh, I think it's the 'simulation' bed.

Dash - February 28, 2004 12:30 PM (GMT)
In that scene there is a standing up shot so it can't have been the doghouse unless Clea & Natasha are 3 ft tall.

Miss A. - February 28, 2004 12:34 PM (GMT)
I haven't seen the movie for like, over a year, but for some reason i thought they were in a little tent...or something...I'll probably watch it next time and realise that it looks nothing like a tent, but i chose other, anyway.

p3ngu - February 28, 2004 04:09 PM (GMT)
Dash, are you sure they were standing? I thought they were on their knees.

Crystie - February 28, 2004 06:23 PM (GMT)
i have a question about all this. ok how come wen clayton and dolph did it clayton had "one week of solitary" and graham didnt? was it because they needed her for the simulation?

That's a good point... one of the many lil things that don't add up but are there to make the story work. It is curious, though, as to why Dolph was made to leave and Clayton was just given a week of solitary.... Hmmm. Who knows? Not that this is a reason but that it's a point, if Dolph and Clayton both would have been excused, just Joel and Andre would have been left.... that's not much on the man front. LOL.

Yeah, me, too. And the reason why I don't think it was the bed was because the bed was in a room and was quite spacious. The place they are in when they are making love is very small and very cramped... you can tell they are in a very tightly enclosed space...

Kate - March 1, 2004 07:40 AM (GMT)
 hahahahah!

I was going to curse the DP ;) It was ok, but god some of the shots are truly bad from a lighting and continuity POV, I think.... unless it's just my copy, which it might be... in which case I will just shut right up.

Kate - February 29, 2004 08:07 AM (GMT)
Don't tell me I have to watch that scene AGAIN!

Okay. It could quite easily have been the bed. All the shots were close ups - Extreme close ups. They could have been in the middle of the White House and you still couldn't be able to tell. The importance of this scene is the people - not where they were. The focus on this scene was the intimacy of the characters (which was done well by performance and by lighting (well done D.O.P!)

So - I reckon it not the doghouse just because of the appearance of the cramped setting and the camera shot sizes. It's all film making tricks of light and shot sizes. The bed seems more logical. Point is - they did, got busted, Megan left - on to Act 3.

Well, exxccccuuuuuse me. Please, fellow posters, let us no longer focus on the trivial matters in life. Let us just get to the point and move on to the next thing.

Okay Graham, you're excused. But what did you do?
lol

I was just saying is all. It can be the dog house if you want it to be.
*pat pat*

p3ngu - March 2, 2004 04:29 PM (GMT)
Wait a minute! Wait a minute! You don't think they actually had the camera's filming IN the dog house do you

I must agree the continuity part is crap but there is a lot of that throughout the film.

Linz - March 2, 2004 04:39 PM (GMT)
I chose the doghouse for no other reason that I have no idea! :-)
This issue of continaity is so true. The movie, thought PHENOMINAL, is really lacking it.

We are all hard markers eh? Okay, so here's a thought. Would you hate this movie is Graham was played by somebody else and Clea had nothing to do with this film? Would you have even bothered seeing it?

Crystie - March 2, 2004 10:51 PM (GMT)
still looked like a good film to me. when my friend saw the cover for it and showed me i had no idea she was in it...but i wound up seeing it and thats how i discovered clea!! :D

iloveclea - March 2, 2004 10:52 PM (GMT)
i think i still would have seen it. i probably wouldn't love it as much as i do if clea wasn't in it, but i think i still would have at least seen it.

GrahamEaton - March 3, 2004 06:22 AM (GMT)
Same here... I didn't know of Clea until watching this film... although I saw Girl, Interrupted before BIAC but I didn't realize who Clea was until watching BIAC.... As for liking it if Clea wasn't in it? It would depend on who was playing Graham and they could give Graham that same allure, the same charisma and attitude and such and, the biggest thing, if they could have the same sort of chemistry with Megan, which is due, undoubtedly, to the fact that they are best friends off screen. But it's not a deal where I like it so much because Clea plays a smokin' character in it. Like I said, I didn't even know Clea was in it the first time I saw it... and there are other movies that I like that I probably wouldn't like as much if a different actress played that role. Actors and actresses can make or break movies.....

Kate - March 3, 2004 08:41 AM (GMT)
Yep - I would still be a fan. I love the writing. I really want a copy of the script, but I can't find it online.

The motifs and visual jokes are also cool.

Linz - March 3, 2004 06:24 PM (GMT)
I think that I would still love the movie. It was so well done and a great political satire. Clea did make Graham wonderful and I can't picture anyone else in the role...but the movie would definatley still rock.

Kate - March 4, 2004 08:23 AM (GMT)
Totally, like the more I watch it, the more I find in it.

Have you noticed in the "Boys' outdoor training area" how the cutouts of soldiers have an upward facing gun at hip level, and a boy on his knees right in front of it... and when they are running with guns, yelling "Die, faggot" they start out in the Charlie's Angel* pose...?

*I think it's Charlie's Angels

Crystie - March 4, 2004 09:25 PM (GMT)
yea it was charlies angels...that was soooo funny...they were like "DIE!! DIE!!" and Andre screams out "DIE AGAIN!!" that was so great.

Crys - March 5, 2004 03:12 AM (GMT)
haha, he said "die again!"? I don't think I ever caught that.. That's classic though :P

Crystie - March 5, 2004 09:01 PM (GMT)
yea i was bored one day so i watched the whole movie with the little words on the bottom to tell u what they are saying. also another thing i caught...when andre is sitting with hilary at free time and he sees the paper airplane on the ground, the really tall guy (Harry Morgangordon?) was like "ok, lets go"....and then when mike grabbed clayton and dolph cuz they were kissing, he tells them "get in there"...as in marys bedroom so he can tell her. but thats all i caught. the rest you can hear.

( I dont know how you guys get your quotes to come out in boxes so this will have to do...)

I dont think I would hate the film.....I first saw it on HBO like, back in 99 and I didn't even know what to think of it, I laughed by ass off, but I didn't know who Clea was then. Then I watched The Faculty in 2002 and and everything came back. So I bought BIAC on VHS and I love the movie, and eveything else Clea is in for the most part. So....I think I would still like the movie if she wasn't in it, but I cant see anyone else playing that part, she is perfect for it.

That's pretty simple ^_^
if you want to quote a whole post, just press the "Quote"-button on the top right of that post.
If you want to quote a part of another post copy'n'paste the text, and place open- and close quote tags before and after it. Open tags look like this [ quote ], close tags are the same just with a /, i.e. [ /quote ] - to get it work, there should be no spaces between the [ & ] and the tag, i.e. {quote}quoted text{/quote} (just think [ and ] instead of { and } ;) - if you're to lazy to quote manually, just press the "Quote"-button above the text box, where you post your reply (but don't forget to press it again to place the close tag!).

Clea is so unique, I think she's perfect for any part she plays/played

Thanks, I think I understand now....

Dear God, we paid for all this stuff ourselves, so thanks for nothing.

I like your signature...that comes from the simpsons right? Dont make fun of me if I am wrong, but I think Bart said that. I am not sure though.

I once read in an article about BIAC that Jamie Babbit (the director) had given Clea the script and she intantly liked it. However, there were a lot of changes Clea made personally to the character that she had to get Jamie to agree on. Originally the character was supposed to be super butchy and Clea said she tried to develop the character to be more real. I don't think the movie would have been half as good if she wasn't in it. It still would have been funny...but that's probably about it. i think Clea made the movie.

Oh yeah, and by the way...I thought the scene was in the bathroom.

Flyergirl - July 1, 2004 10:02 PM (GMT)
I was positive it was in the dog house.....but I have been wrong before...

carlamity - July 8, 2004 11:24 AM (GMT)
i definitely thought it was the doghouse - it seems like they're in a really small place. the dog house would definitely have had bedding in there, otherwise clayton would have frozen his ass off sleeping in there for a whole week!

Sinead Laren - November 6, 2005 02:34 AM (GMT)
It was definatly a bed. Which it looked a lot like simulate bed. I don't think the dog house had a real big bed like that.
