This movie was shit.
It needed to be said.
First 1/3 -> Comedy
Second 1/3 -> Drama
Third 1/3 -> Superhero Movie

It didn't even really pull it off well, and more than that is that only the first and second third was ever shown in trailers. Assholes.
Then the transition was so jerky it was scary, and the backstory to Hancock didn't even make proper sense- it was all just so rushed. Not to mention the fact that the battle between him and Mary was much more epic than the actual climax of the movie (what the hell is up with that anyway?) and even then that fight was kind of half-assed.
However, they did leave a lot of room for a sequel, and more than that is that I think if they did a sequel starting in superhero mode they have enough material to actually pull it off well.
The thought frightens me.

In other words, I completely disagree. This movie is awesome. I thought the transition was much smoother than you make it seem. And maybe the last 3rd wasn't as great as the first two, and they left some shit out, it wasn't really that bad.

I highly recommend seeing Hancock in theaters, mainly because *SPOILERS* because the fight scenes between Hancock and Theron are pretty bad ass and the amount collateral damage alone, which is generally left out of other superhero movies, is reason enough. Also, you will never experience anything like it ever again.
Critics may have reviewed it a bit harshly, but critics are douchebags.
