Go into training mode with any character, doesn't matter who the computer is. just had it on nothing. I suggest final destation for the stage.

Go up to the computer spawn a smart bomb, throw in down, right after that (it gets tricky here) you need to close menu, open menu, spawn a smart bomb, close menu, open menu, spawn a smart bomb, close menu, etc. <- at a steady pace , not to slow or fast. and end it when you think you got 999 combos.

please note that this might take you a couple tries.

for the close menu, open menu, spawn a smart bomb thing. on the game cube controller that would be start, A, start, A, start, etc.

the other controls i don't know what the buttons would be never use them.

put computer inside the box and hold A with Kirby.Or Fox...Or C.Falcon...Or Sheik. or Falco

You don't really need to make a stage, you can do it on the back of the Great Fox (in Corneria, obviously). Tried with Kirby (a few weeks back) and was able to get a 999 combo. Haven't tested other combo hitters (Fox, Falco, etc) on the back of the Great Fox.

Or you could just take Triple D or Kirby and do an infin =/
