Title: The Official Pokémon Topic
Description: Quit making so many of these things.
Game Guru Michael - August 8, 2006 05:45 PM (GMT)
Okay now you can rant tll the Blue moon about Pokemon but be aware I will not accpet people being off topic in my fourm
Jay Kay - August 8, 2006 06:38 PM (GMT)
^So remind me why you closed the other topic again?
| QUOTE (SwissCheese) |
| *Coughcough* Excuse me?! Only GBC? You must not like Pokemon. It's the all time best selling video game franchise, and the only good bits are GBC? What's wrong with all the other versions? |
Actually it's the second biggest selling video game franchise. Right after Mario.

| Because all the new pokemon after 251 are all unorigional and stupid. The GBC games were classic, how can you call yourself a pokemon fan and not like them? |
I never said I didn't like 'em. I'm just saying your being a little ignorant saying that GBC versions are the only good bits of the series. Which isn't true.

But anyway, anyone seen the starters for Diamond/Pearl yet?
There's supposed to be a fire monkey thing.

I have to say that everyone is allowed an opinion.
Whether you like it or not they're entitled to it.
I'm not agreeing with you lot. Nor am I disagreeing. I may think that the GSC generation was good. So was the RBY generation. But in no way are all the pokémon past pokédex entry #251, are pointless, useless, and downright stupid.
Not all of them at least.
Bulbasaur = Chickorita = Treecko
Charmander = Cyndaquil = Torchic
Squirtle = Totodile = Mudkip
Sure maybe that is true. They're all the starter pokémon. TRUE. They're all the same type. FALSE. Bulbasaur is a Grass/poison. Mudkip evolves into a Water/ground type. Charmander evolves into a Fire/flying type. Thus they're not the same.
Mew = Celebi = Jirachi.
Mew is pure psychic.
Celebi is Psychic/grass.
Jirachi is Steel/psychic.
They're not the same.
Pokémon haven't been repeated. The only thing that has happened is that they've duped pokémon and changed them ever so slightly from the original ones. They're still not the same.
FIN.

And they look good too! =D
You have netbattle?
Edit:
Anyone notice that the starter pokemon seems to resemble A bulbasaur?
Hmmm, now only if it had a seed on it's back. And the leaf on it's head. . .reminds me of Chikorita. O.o
And the mouth thing, didn't treeko have that?

Keep in mind that this isn't my RBY team on my GB version of Red/Blue/Yellow. Hell no. I have awful movesets and pokemon in my squad in those versions. Why? Because I played those when they came out; like 7 years ago now. Obviously, I wasn't that good at battling at all back then :/
Anyway here's my first competitive RBY team.
Gengar
-Explosion
-Hypnosis
-Mega Drain
-Thunderbolt
Normal/fighting resist and puts stuff to sleep. Go's boom on counters that switch in.
Exeggutor
- Explosion
- Stun Spore
- Psychic
- Sleep Powder
Loves switching into Earthquakes that do absolutely nothing to him. Also one of my rock resists. He also puts stuff to sleep and paralyzes them. If a pogey switches into sleep, and then switches out (because it is a sleep and will die if it stays in), then I stun spore and paralyze the switch in.
Snorlax
-Body Slam
-Earthquake
-Hyper Beam
-Self Destruct
Hits stuff hard before blowing up on them :D
Rhydon
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Substitute
Because he looks better than Golem. Rhydon is so awesome. Normal/Rock/flying resist.
Starmie
- Blizzard
- Recover
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
Sex. Paralyzes things and sweeps. Special sweeper.
Tauros
- Blizzard
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Hyper Beam
Awesome late game sweeper. One of the best in RBY.
End of my RBY team.
King Elemento - August 11, 2006 12:32 PM (GMT)
Instead of selfdestruct, use explosion. It's more powerful, will still always hit, and has exactly the same PP.

Uh...No.
Snorlax does not learn explosion. Only self destruct.
Kero - August 11, 2006 09:33 PM (GMT)
I believe that after 151, the Pokemon started to lose their flair and originality. It's more apparent that the new Pokemon are just there to grab money. 90% of the ones after 151 are just... gag-worthy. I don't know; as soon as I saw Merrill introduced, it didn't seem so good... :< I lost my Red, Blue, and Yellow versions a while ago, but I remember hauling some ass early in the franchise. The weakness in the Pokemon series showed, and Digimon swooped in and took my attention.
Rocketboss - August 11, 2006 10:43 PM (GMT)
I think some of the new ones are fine...such as:
Blaziken
Latios/Latias
Rayquaza
Regice
some of the new ones may not be original, but some are awesome looking...

I agree.
And although the first generation is my fave, and always will be, the battling metagame at this stage in time is the best it has ever been. So much strategy and prediction is needed to beat worthy opponents now. There are so many roles pokemon play; for example;
-physical sweeper
-special sweeper
-physical wall/sponge
-special wall/sponge
-mixed sweeper
-rapid spinner (to get rid of spikes)
-spiker
-phazer/hazer (get rid of raises in stats-moves like roar, whirlwind and haze)
-status absorber/taker/sleep talker (takes status for the team)
-tank (think "snorlax"-good special wall and good attacker)
And yeah. So you can see how diverse the metagame is nowadays. That is why I'm still a fan of pokemon after all these years.
Rocketboss - August 12, 2006 02:15 PM (GMT)
And with all this EV/IV training, it makes it that much harder to get a true "powerhouse" pokemon.....(didn't stop me from making a "powerhouse" mewtwo)
Koncho - August 12, 2006 03:51 PM (GMT)
My brother's EV training almost all his new Pokemon. He EV trained his Jirachi SA and SD. he can beat some of my 20 lvl higher pokemon in one shot.
Rocketboss - August 12, 2006 04:26 PM (GMT)
Haha...as does my metagross at Lv:100 battle tower!!! Hes on level 80 when i firs started battle tower....now he's level: 94...and still kickin BUTT!!!!!!! Bwahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

*Pats head*
I'm playing my leaf-green now, I just bought one a day ago. It's slightly worse than the origional. But, I like it a lot. They succeded with a good remake :)
And, does anyone rememeber a false cheat in R/B/Y where you go to Vermillion, and go to the dock. Then you surf over to the the right and find a truck...that you use strengh on
Rocketboss - August 12, 2006 10:31 PM (GMT)
THE MEW THAT IS SUPPOSEDLY THERE DOES NOT EXIST!!!! The truck does though..and you don't have to go to vermillion...instead you have to lose on the SS Anne after you get the HM...then wait till you get surf, then go there act like you are getting on the ship, but instead surf right and you will find it....

Actually you mean "Ryan" with a capital R :P
Anyhow, I'm starting to prefer the simplicity of the GSC battling era than advance. I keep making great teams on advance yet after about 10 battles, I end up winning like 8/10 which isn't good enough.
Advance annoys me because there are so many pokemon to counter, as well as movesets, that it's impossible to make a perfect team :/

Don't worry, you're not the only person to have accused me of being Ryan.
|
No, I mean ryan.
When he was here, he talked me into pokemon.
|
|
I'm geussing that's the point of it. We needn't need a pokemon team, cause it triggers us to want to make a better one, a stronger team. When we find that team is bad, we want to make a stronger one to counter the team that defeated it. And so on.
The closest I've seen anyone get in Netbattle is 98% but that's because of the ledgendaries. . .D;

Am I joining this discussion too late? >.>
Me likes pokemon. I have red, blue, gold, silver, crystal, Puzzle challenge, Sapphire, Leaf green, Channel, and Colleseum. My favorite pokemon out of all of my games is my espeon. You know that Eevee that Bill gives you? I raised it up to level 100! I was so proud of it. ^-^
...
I'll shut up now.
SilentStrike - August 17, 2006 05:57 PM (GMT)
I never find a slot on my team to take time away to raise an Eevee XD

My Best Team (Emerald Version):
Mightyena (Mightyena) (Lvl 100) Iron Tail Body Slam/Return Counter Shadow Ball
This thing has an awful movepool and because this is in-game, I can't recommend something like HP fighting which is needed on it really :/ It sucks.
Alakazam (Alakazam) (Lvl 99) Calm mind Recover Psychic Ice punch/Fire punch/thunderpunch
K never give Alakazam physical attacks. He is a special sweeper and to use attacks with his poor attack stat would be a waste.
Hydra (Gyrados) (Lvl 100) Dragon Dance Earthquake Thunder Wave Aerial Ace
This thing hates special attacks as well. I'm not too sure if it learn aerial ace. Really it wants Hidden Power Flying>Aerial Ace. Hopefully it learns Aerial ace though.
Crobat (Crobat) (Lvl 98) Aerial Ace Sludge Bomb Shadow Ball Return
This thing wants a choice band. Again HP fighting>return but it's too hard to get in-game.
Chime (Chimecho) (Lvl 100) Hypnosis/Yawn Psychic Heal Bell Reflect/Light Screen
This thing sucks as well :/
Shiba (Ninetales) (Lvl 100) Flamethrower Will O Wisp Substitute Roar/Body slam
It'll need the PP in-game so flamethrower>fire blast. Again, it sucks. |

Leaf Green Team :P

Charmeleon- lvl 23 Earyhquake Fire Blast/Flamethrower Aerial Ace/Rock Slide Swords Dance
Can't rate charmeleon but the best moveset would be bellyzard (but you'll need to breed it to get belly drum). Basically, the moveset is Fire blast (or flamethrower)/Earthquake/Rock Slide Or Aerial Ace and Belly Drum. Basically the strategy is to switch into something that will do little damage to zard, use belly drum, and get him on red health so the salac berry can activate and thus he can sweep. Swords dance is also an option over belly drum. The moveset I've listed on your charmeleon does not require breeding and is actually a moveset for charizard when it evolves.
Mankey- lvl 20 Cross Chop Earthquake Bulk Up Rock Slide
Needs a choice band but I doubt you have that so I provided a different moveset.
Nidoqueen lvl 21 Ice Beam Thunderbolt Earthquake Sludge Bomb
Kadabra lvl 21 Calm mind Psychic Recover Fire punch/Ice punch/thunderpunch |
Well that took much longer than I imagined it would :(
