It starts when Starless and Mariene say what char. they`re using.

Round 1 Kero vs Kiao.

Figured as much, Kero, you pick the arena and everything.

Bah, I'll just suffice with a 100ftx100ft stone tile arena. ;p Y'know, like an actual tournament. This should be interesting. -.o; Anything else you want me to set up?

Straitjacket entered the arena, hopping up and down, raring to go. "Sweet! A tournament! I wonder who I get to fight..." He thought to himself, fidgeting with his hair...

Janyu approached the arena, ascending the ramp onto the platform. He sighed, keeping stage fright off of himself. He looked around, seeing the arena's boundaries stretch on and on. "Hmph..." Janyu muttered, getting to his side. Tilting his head down, only his snout could be seen.

"Hm?" Straitjacket looked around, until he noticed the strange little creature standing a distance away in front of him, wrapped in a black cloak. His eyes widened. "...you've gotta be kidding me." He swung his fist and slammed it into a stone pillar, making a bit of a dent. "You've GOT to be kidding me! I've gotta fight a MIDGET?!"

Janyu growled, pulling the staff off of his back. "Vulpes magica... maximales!" The Mahou Staff's gem shone for a moment, Janyu growing--along with his equipment, of course--to approximately two-and-a-half feet in height. "'Midget', huh?" He smirked.

Straitjacket stifled a laugh. "Mhe-heh-y-y-yeah, you sure showed me. I guess you aren't a midget, after all..." And with that, Straitjacket sprinted directly for him with incredible speed, with every intention of running him over...

Not the person to throw a quick insult or quip, Janyu waved his staff. "Deflexio!" he incanted, a blue barrier shining in front of him, a shine from within his cloak showing his smirk for a brief moment. Janyu lifted his staff. "Sagitta magica..." he mumbled.

Straitjacket's eyes widened as he approached the magical barrier, but he couldn't bring himself to a stop in time-thud. He got up a few seconds later, and started to poke the magical barrier. "What the hell is this? Magic? I hate magic..."

Janyu stopped in mid-incantation and paused. "What are you planning?" Janyu asked with a suspecting expression. He stepped back a couple feet, waiting for a reaction.

Straitjacket quickly looked up and down the barrier. Checking for any weak points, thin parts, anything that he could break. "Damn...this thing looks pretty solid..." He clenched his fist in frustration. He then got an idea, and his fist crackled with electricity. He shoved his fist through the barrier but not quite through to the other side, and unleashed a pulse of electricity through it: the two conflicting energies canceled each other out, and the barrier collapsed and vanished. He smiled. "There we go..." He launched a swift low kick towards the strange mage's chest.

Janyu gasped, surprised. He raised up his arm to block. "Not so fas--!" He managed to utter before being kicked back--off his feet, falling onto his back. Stirring, he summoned up the energy to hop back up, appearing full of energy. Janyu realized that his cloak had slacked, revealing his face. His head had strange patterns of light black on his fur. Hopping back a step with a look of determination on his face, he closed his eyes, holding his staff forward. "Evocatio valcyarium contubernalia gladiaria!" The markings on his face shone for a moment before going out. Wind gathered at Janyu's side and took form, creating seven other Janyus, holding lances. "Capturum." The wind spirits rose into the air, diving down at Straitjacket with their lances in a jousting position.

Straitjacket's right eye began to furiously twitch. Danger! "No shit..." He whispered to himself. He backed up and performed a series of gymnastic feats to dodge the onslaught of the Janyus. It took quite a bit of effort, and by the end of it, he was panting slightly. "I don't think that this little bugger's going to let me get closer to him. A shame. I don't know how much more juice I've got...did I just say that aloud?" Realization sunk in. "Damnit. I'm monologuing. Never a good sign..." He said as he shot behind a pillar to think up a strategy...

As the wind Janyus charged through, they floated down, landing. They glanced around, unable to spot Straitjacket; they had rather poor vision. The real Janyu sighed, hiding his face in the darkness of his cloak again. Kneeling down, the fox uttered a few words under his breath.

Straitjacket held his breath so he could listen to what the fox mage was saying. "What the hell is that?" He thought to himself as he got ready to react to whatever the spell was...

The fox lifted his hand, opening his fist. "Disperse!" The wind spirits faded away, the strips of energy slowly dissolving into the air. Janyu pulled down his sleeve, examining the few black bars encompassing his wrist. There were seven left, as one faded. "Meh. The size spell won't hold for much longer. I need to work on duration..." He soliloquyed.

"He seems distracted, now's my chance!" He sprinted towards Janyu again, hoping to catch him off guard...
