Title: Mythological Rp
Description: Going out on a limb here.
Kiao - March 6, 2007 01:10 AM (GMT)
Reason:Yeah, provided that I'm bored as all hell get out, and I've been watching too many trailers for
300, played too much of Age of Mythology and the demo of
God of War II, and having just read
The Divine Comedy, I've decided to start a mythological RP.
The StoryThe premise is this: wander around the ancient world, seeking some item of ultimate power depending on your (custom for this one) character's pantheon to either:
-Invoke/prevent another Titanomachy/Doomsday/Ragnarok/Apocalypto/etc.
-Become a god/goddess.
-To finish a lifelong quest.
-Because your character just wants to.
And for this RP, all of the world's pantheons are merged, so that means that there are cyclopses and kitsunes and jotuns and sphinxes and daemons and everything running together as one.
Your CharacterThis is what your character's profile should entail.
Name. This goes without saying.
Age. So we know how old/young your character is.
Gender. Male or female.
Species. By default, this has to be human or at least 50% human. Which means you CAN be descended from gods. But you have to list which god.
Pantheon. What sort of gods/goddesses your character pledges loyalty to.
A pretty much complete list can be found here.Patron God/Goddess. The one god/goddess from the Pantheon that your character worships most. Special skills can come from this deity.
Appearance. What your character looks like.
Special Skills. You can only have five. No invulnerability/immortality.
Special Item. Everyone gets to start off with a
mythical object that you can use throughout your adventure. It cannot, however, be the ultimate item you are searching for (to start it right now:
no Ark of the Covenant, no Pandora's Box, etc. The object cannot make you unbeatable, either. All objects have to have their strengths and weaknesses listed so people know what the hell you're talking about.
Bio. A short story of your character's life, their personality, their likes/dislikes, their overall goal.
I'll have my character set up in a little bit, but for now, is anyone interested?

Hmm... sounds interesting. Actually kind of reminds me of my own story, except that I'm writing history/mythology for the Sonicverse and this is hodgepodge.

Name- Ioklos
Age- 25
Gender- Male
Species-Human
Pantheon-Greek pantheon.
Patron God/Goddess-
HermesAppearance-A man who wears a plain gray tunic, who has his right arm wrapped entirely in black linen. On his right hand he wears a flexible chainmail glove which has steel spikes on the tips of the fingers. He has bright blue eyes and short brown hair. He also wears a strip of black linen across his mouth. He wears an identical pair of Hermes' Talaria, golden sandals with wings on them that give them the power of flight, at considerable speed.
Special Skills:
Agility. Ioklos is swift and acrobatic; a natural at moving around. He can outmaneuver most enemies with the help of his Talaria.
Cunning. Ioklos is very intelligent, and uses this to his advantage in combat. He is usually able to outwit much stronger foes.
Speech. Ioklos is a very skilled speaker and can speak several different languages. He is also good at persuading people and talking his way out of situations.
Stealth. Ioklos is very stealthy and capable of moving around people and places undetected. It makes him a skillful thief.
Endurance. While Ioklos prefers not to directly fight and does all he can to avoid direct confrontation, he has great endurance and can keep fighting for long periods of time. He is also capable of running for long periods of time, useful when attempting to make a quick getaway. He is also capable of dealing with large amounts of pain.
Special Item-Talaria. Grants Ioklos the power of flight. Since it is not the original Talaria that Hermes uses but merely a duplicate, he cannot fly at super-fast speeds and he also cannot fly for extended periods of time.
Bio-Not much is known of his childhood, but Ioklos has been a profound con man, thief, and gambler since his early teens. He is regarded as quite lucky and is a skilled gambler. He has a calm and composed disposition, but is somewhat greedy and cynical. He is at heart a fairly good person. He is favored by Hermes, and this is how he came into possession of a duplicate of the Talaria. He is an adept speaker and is known for talking his way out of unpleasant situations. Recently, he has amassed himself a huge amount of debt with a nasty group of people, and is on a quest to obtain a ridiculously large amount of money within a span of a year, or he faces a very unpleasant demise.

(All right, since you didn't respond I'mtaking that as a go ahead. If there's something here that doesn't work for you, just let me know)
Mercodrik Thuril
Age: 87 (roughly equivalent to 22 in human reckoning of age)
Gender: Male
Species: Half dragon
Pantheon: Chinese dragon kings.
Patron God: ao guang
Appearance: Mercodrik is tall and broad shouldered, but not so much so that he particularly stands out in a crowd. To better fit in with society, he had his draconic features magically permanently altered to human ones, meaning he no longer has the benefit of a scaled hide, wings, or claws. He has brown hair, though what shade of brown seems to depend on the light, ranging from dark to reddish to light. His eyes have the disquieting habit of slowly changing color. He wears a fairly standard green tunic and cloak, brown leggings, and boots. Over this he wears what appears to be a standard issue breastplate, but in reality it is enchanted to be much lighter and more durable than normal steel, allowing him to move as though unarmored. The longsword he carries is similarly enchanted. Though practical, the spells on these items hardly constitute mythical.
Special Skills
Healing: Mercodrik doesn't have his mother's talent for healing, but he can manage to patch himself and allies up pretty well. Ressurection is not his forte, (but depending on what kind of rules we're playing by, he MIGHT be able to pull it off in special cases. Certainly not whenever he feels like it)
Blood of the dragon: lesser poisons and many blood borne diseases either do not work or have a reduced effect on Mercodrik
Improved metabolism: Mercodrik can't eat anything, but he can stomach partially spoiled food that might make others sick. Obviously, he would rather have it fresh, but he's used to making due.
Force of will: Mercodrik is resistant to enchanments and compulsions. This has less to do with his draconic heritage than the fact that he's one stubborn son of a you know what.
General improved stats: Though he has nowhere near the strength or endurance of a true dragon, Mercodrik is physically significantly superior to the average human, but not in the league of most demi gods either.
Mercodrik's father was a lesser dragon in the service of ao guang named Sythyr Thuril. Sworn to battle evil, and in particular evil dragons and their allies, he often traveled in the guise of a human warrior, captializing on the fact that dragons often underestimated the capabilities of what they saw as an inferior race. During one of his travels, he took on the role of bodyguard for a human healer. Her arsenal of support spells nicely complimented his fighting prowess and they became very close, finally falling in love.
Growing up, Mercodrik divided his time learning fighting from his father and healing from his mother until his father departed on a quest from which he never returned. Mercodrik and his mother tried searching for clues as to what had happened to him, but Mercodrik was still too young and she was too old by this point so they were forced to give up due to her failing health. Mercodrik cared for her until she died a few years later, then set out on his own. Finding that outside of the land of his birth his draconic features were often met with fear and loathing, he searched out a sorceror skilled in polymorph spells and convinced him to change his features into those of a full human.

(You didn't give me suitable TIME to respond. And you DO need a pantheon, if not at least a patron god/goddess.)
The Forgotten - March 13, 2007 02:30 AM (GMT)
Name: Oddeni
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Species: Werewolf (I'm reffering to the mythological werewolves- humans that may transform to wolves at will, and have an immense bloodlust and desire to consume human flesh)
Pantheon: Athena, Hermes, Zeus
Patron God/Goddess: Athena
Special Skills:Bowmanship: Mastery of the bow
Cunning: Thinks fast on the spot
Wolf: Has the ability to change into a wolf, but may cause him to go berserk and attempt to devour human flesh if he smells a lot of blood in this form
Charm: The ability to persuade others to acede to your wishes
Agility: Speed, not much else to say
Special Item: Lance of Longinus.
Nothing too special about it other than historical significanceBio: Oddeni was a soldier in the Trojan War, and sailed off a few hours before Oddyseus and his men had. Oddeni's ship crashed, and he got stranded on a large island. He managed to build a raft and sail home after a year of being stranded, to find his wife and children dead. In a mad rage, he took after their killers and killed them in such an inhumane way that the gods cursed him with lycantrhopy. He now seeks some way to cure it, although he's not sure what may help him do so. He is occasionally overtaken with fits of uncontrollable bloodlust, which usually results in him devouring any human around him.
Kiao - March 13, 2007 11:58 PM (GMT)
Alright, good stuff, now all we need is Giga to fix his profile and this RP can officially begin.

Kiao - March 14, 2007 07:35 PM (GMT)
You didn't change the pantheon; 'Draconic' isn't a real pantheon.
EDIT: You changed it, sweet. Now, someone start this baby off.
Prophet of Chao - October 17, 2007 10:19 PM (GMT)
Does it have to be a real Pantheon? or can it be from, say, Oblivion ?
Kiao - October 17, 2007 11:29 PM (GMT)
Yes, a real legitimate Pantheon, that people actually actively worshiped at one point.
