Gigazubyte reclined on chao islands beach, several feet up from the water, enjoying the balmy weather immensely. Alone... it had been so long since he had been completely by himself. It was a nice enough change of pace though. Still, he couldn't help wondering what Fayde was doing back on the mainland.
I decided I'd stay here for a few days, I know, but I had planned on spending them with the other chao. But I'm as out of place with them now as I am everywhere else. And it is nice to get away. Guess I'll stay here for a few more hours and then say goodbye. He rolled over, idly speculating on how the festival was progressing. He hoped Fayde was having fun. As he did so, a glint of orange caught his eye.
Huh, wonder what that is. It looks like a chao... but there aren't any chao that color. Then again, I wasn't always green...
"Hello there!" he shouted, to the approaching whatever-it-was.

Kiao wandered down the beach, sunglasses covering his big brown eyes, eating a pineapple. "Hm?" He turned over to the strange green chao, lying on the beach. "You talking to me?"

"Yeah. So you ARE a chao. At least you look like one. But I've never seen you before. Are you from another chao tribe or something?"

"Chao tribe? If you mean a garden, yeah, but I don't know why this concerns you." He finishes the pineapple with a large swallow. "Mmm, good."

"Yeah...garden, I guess. It's been a while since I've interacted with other Chao. A long while."

"You don't say..." Kiao said, clearly uninterested. He was busy blasting sand with fireballs, placing large patches of glass on the beach.

Gigazubyte jumped back reflexively as the first fireball exploded on the sand, rolling to his feet. He had not forgotten what it was like to be the target of a firebomb during his long sleep. What kind of chao could do that? Was it possible there was another like himself? Trying to sound casual, he asked:
"How are you creating those fireballs? I can tell you don't have a Chaos Emerald... are you using the ixian magics?"

Kiao shook his head. "Nah, just elemental magic, increased dramatically by the skills of the dragon..." He noticed that Giga seemed on edge, and smiled. "Why, does it bother you?" He asked as he shot a fireball directly in front of Giga's feet, a blotch of glass formed directly in front of his shiny glass-like feet...

Giga jumped backwards. He had a bad history with fireballs, but he dodged the question by replying "I thought that's what Ixian magic was. Can you do anything besides make fireballs?"

Kiao nodded. "Sure thing I can!" He rubbed his hands together quickly for about three seconds, and then aimed his arm at a random spot: a smallish bolt of lightning struck the spot. "What can you do?" He smiled, full of himself...

"What can I... hmm, well, I can do THIS!" Giga let out a Chaos Bolt, obliterarting a nearby tree in a shower of debris. He didn't like the mocking tone in the other chao's voice at all.

Kiao blinked, his chao ball became a !, he was clearly impressed, but a few seconds later, it became a flaming swirl. "Well, that's not so cool..."

"I don't know if it's cool or not, but it's saved my life more times than I care to count. Anyway, what about this?" Giga put up a shield. Realizing that the faint shimmer in the air it created wasn't much to look at, he added "Throw another of those fireballs at me." He concentrated on strengthening the shield to the point where it became reflective. Blocking attacks was one thing, bouncing them back-on purpose- was quite another.

"Whatever, your funeral..." Kiao took a deep breath, and exhaled a burning stream of flame at Giga's shield.

Gigazubyte grunted as the fire hit the shield. The attack was more powerful than he had expected. Then he had a sickening thought. What if the other chao wasn't shielded against his own attacks? But that was stupid. Giga had yet to meet anyone who could throw enrgy around like that who wasn't protected against it. He concentrated on keeping the sheild strong.

Kiao seemed annoyed that the shield wasn't even dented: he exhaled harder, spewing out hotter and thicker flame...

Gigazubyte hoped that the other chao would have to stop for breath before the shield gave out. It was beginning to strainhim to keep it solid, and he doubted it could last more than twenty seconds longer before shattering.

Kiao used up the last of his breath on a final burst, before taking a deep inhale. "Urgh...damn. Good defense..."

"Yeah. I was always the best defender on my team. You came closer to cracking it than I would have expected though. I mean, it was supposed to reflect the fire back, but it just blocked it, which means you were hitting it pretty hard."

((Sorry for posting in someone else's RP topic, but this has to be one of the best character match-ups EVER. *watches battle in awe* Great idea pitting these two characters against eachother, Giga! :O))

(But of course. I saw Kiao's profile and just had to ask for a match.)

Kiao was pretty pissed now, his chao ball a flaming spiral now. "Well, yeah, maybe that thing is fireproof, but..." He began rubbing his hands together furiously, while muttering to himself under his breath in angered tones. After a few minutes, he aimed his fist at Giga. "...how about lightning!?" He released a much bigger jolt of electricity directly at his chest...

Giga wasn't prepared for the lightning, and it struck him squarely before he could bring the shield back up, bowling him over. Dropping it had definitely been a mistake.
"Oww... it's proof against all kinds of energy, but only if I bring it up in time."
He got to his feet, dusting himself off.

Kiao grinned, proud of his electrical attack. "Yeah, you weren't ready for that, were you?"

"No, I wasn't." Giga admitted. This guy was awfully smug...

"Well, how about this?!" Kiao launched a stream of flame from his mouth again, aiming for Giga's chest again.

Giga jumped up and backward, out of the way of the fire. It wasn't as clean a leap as Fayde could have managed, but he landed on his feet. "No need to block when I can dodge it! So you use fire and electricity? Not bad, but Mogul had earth and water down pat as well, and we kicked his ass too. Granted, we had some help, but..."

Kiao smiled, he wasn't done yet. "Not just that..." He focused, raising his arms slowly, and then brought them crashing down with magical energy: the gravity around the surrounding area became much greater. It was if the very air itself was pushing down on them, although Kiao didn't seem bothered by it. "Let's see how much better you are dodging now..." He took a deep breath again, and prepared to unleash another torrent of flame...

"Unnh... high gravity, huh? That's a pretty good trick. But it can't stop me from doing... THIS!" Giga said as he used Chaos Control to teleport behind the other chao and sweep his legs out from under him. "You know, now might be a good time to introduce ourselves."

The Chaos Control caught Kiao off-guard, he was tripped up Giga's...trip, and fell flat on his face, but got up immediately afterwards. "Damn? Chaos Control? So I'm assuming that the green crystals aren't just a statement..." His eyes narrowed. "My name is Kiao. And I'm better than you, even with your goddamn Chaos Emerald shards..."

"Well... Kiao... I see that touched a nerve." Fayde's leg sweep from behind had a habit of irritating enemies, as it was embarassing to have one's feet taken out from under one. Giga would know, having been subject to it more than once. Giga wondered what other tricks Kiao had in store. This was getting to be an interesting battle.

Kiao took another deep breath, and shot a stream of flame from his mouth again. At the same time, he began rubbing his hands together in a frenzy...

Gigazubyte threw up another shield, trying to reflect them flame again. Either it still wasn't working, or Kiao was completely impervious to flame. It was hard to tell with a continuous attack like that. Trying to sound completely casual, despite the beating his shield was taking, he said "So, you've got fire, electricity, and gravity. Any other tricks I should know about?"

Kiao didn't answer, he was too busy spewing streams of flame out of his mouth. He continued to rub his hands together, before balling them into fists and smashing them together, creating an arc of electricity. He then launched two separate and somewhat smaller, yet equally powerful bolts of lightning from his hands, coupled with his steady stream of flame, directly for Giga's shield, in an attempt to shatter it. And if that doesn't work, Kiao thought as he rubbed his hands together again...

Urgh, probably wasn't wise to bring up the shield again so soon. Especially not after taunting him. I've held off Chaos Elementals and Ixian magicians with this thing, but at this rate he may well break it. Giga thought, grimacing as the shield buckled under Kiao's barrage.

Kiao couldn't exhale anymore, he stopped, taking a deep breath, and as he inhaled, he unleashed a massive bolt from his hand again, as a last-ditch effort to crack the shield...

Giga's shield was on the verge of collapse. Rather than let it shatter, he dropped it an instant before the lightning bolt struck, rolling out of the way as he did so. In order to buy some time for it to recover he blasted the ground repeatedly, throwing up a spray of sand. It would have worked better if it was dust, because dust would hand in the air, but the sand still obscured vision for a moment or two while he furiously backpedaled out of range. He was going to have to go on the offensive soon, defense just wasn't cutting it. Kiao could dish out punishment, but could he take it? Giga didn't want to hurt him too seriously. A chao was a chao, and Giga had sworn to protect all other chao.

Kiao shot fireballs out of his hands in the direction where Giga once was: the sand spray turned to glass as the flame passed through it, falling to the ground and shattering.

Contrary to what my "line of work", as Fayde would say, might suggest, I definitely do NOT like getting shot at any more than normal people. That's enough of this. Giga thought, as fireballs whizzed past him. Judging from where they seemed to be coming from, Kiao had not moved. That was one lesson Giga had learned that he obviously had not. Stay shielded or stay mobile. Still on the move, Giga aimed and released a quick salvo of bolts towards Kiao's location. He aimed slightly below the origin point of the fireballs, prefering to knock Kiao of his feet and or get sand in his eyes than shoot him full in the face.
