Title: Warn Levels

Leo Leonardo - January 25, 2007 03:29 AM (GMT)
I have a question: What's the point of warning systems nowadays? What's the point of giving warns to people if they're just going to get deducted? For instance, I was just randomly checking the forum when I noticed: Jaguar Juinchi had a 0% warn. That had me stroke my chin for a minute, cause I was almost CERTAIN he had a 10% warn before, then I checked and I see his warn by Kiao had been reducted.

He had a 10% warn, and it was deducted. What the fuck mate? It takes 200% to get banned from Chao Paradise, that isn't going to happen for a while of course, but WHY reduct it?

I think once you get a warn, you stick with it, there's no "you've been a good boy" or "you only got warned for it once" treatment. Only instances for jokes, a ban game type thing, or a promotion to staff should let you get a warn reduce.

Srsly, the warn system is there for a REASON

Perhaps you might toughen the restrictions on getting it reduced, but there should be SOME way to repent for one's crimes.

Agreed.

Someone violated my word. :<

I agree with that. I think we should make it 100%, but still be able to take stuff away.

EDIT- Woah, woah, woah, Lance. Don't go around editing people's warn yet. Sweetie should decide if we should have the rights to take away warns or not.

Yes, to annoy people and to haunt them for the rest of their days.

Rights to take away warns? If we get to take away warns just because people were on good behavior, whats the point of having a warn system then? We should fuck it all together if we're going to have warn deductions.

Besides, I don't really see what the big deal is. Some of you guys are treating warns like some epidemic. In case you haven't noticed, if you have a 10% warn, you still need 19 more warns to be banned.

Yeah, that part is true, but on other boards doesn't it take only 100% to be banned in the first place...? *can't remember*

You can manually set the minimum warns and maximum warns in the Admin CP somewhere. Here it's 0% and 200% respectively. The latter results in a permanent ban if ever reached. I also noticed that mods can't warn past 100%.

Peaches - January 27, 2007 10:45 PM (GMT)
Hm. Perhaps we should change it to 100%, considering I agreed with everything you said besides the decreasing warn thing. Like Gigazubyte said, you should have some way to take away warns. Or maybe we could make it so we can only decrease warns if it gets up to 30% or over...? *thinking*

There's a reason why an admin/mod has the option to deduct from someone's warn level.
And I was warned for no reason, so Peaches was fine in deducting from my warn.

"Repeatedly telling things or people off, being quite rude" really doesn't sound like a reason for a warn eh? Last time I checked, a member got banned for that kind of stuff.

Huh? Didn't SilentStrike originally warn him for "bashing people's hobbies"?

Beats me, ask him yourself.

SilentStrike warned me for not liking Naruto, it's pretty obvious if you look at the thread.
