Title: Universal Chao System
Description: a better explanation on Chao names
Bijou - June 16, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
Many arguments have happened over the years due to chao names because not everyone can agree on what a chao looks like. We've all heard names like Orb, Blitz, Guardian, Spear, and the more popular Sonic, Shadow, and NiGHTs. However, due to many reasons, these names have been chosen to be unacceptible.
Since then, this board has come up with a universal system mainly created by myself that is to be used for ALL chao. This system is based on the games themselves.
When you take a chao to the Tiny Chao Garden, it will say what the chao is in the top right corner. There is a small picture of a chao head next to the word Child, Normal, Swim, Fly, Run, Power, Chaos, or ???. This is the basis of this system. The chao head comes in three colors: Light Blue & Yellow, White & Blue, and Black & Red. These tell its alignment.
From this, we created the form Alignment/Evolution. Since chao can go into a "second evolution", we made it to be Alignment/1st Evolution/2nd Evolution.
Combo Evolutions are different from normal evolutions. These are essentially chao stuck between two or more 2nd Evolutions. These are said in the style Alignment/1st Evolution/1st Combo 2nd Combo... and continues until all combined evolutions are stated. No "/" separates these because they aren't 3rd, 4th, etc... evolutions but a combined one.
As far as colors go, there are 14 of them:
Normal
Red
Orange
Yellow
Light/Lime Green
Green
Light/Sky Blue
Blue
Purple
Pink
Brown
Black
Grey
White
Each of these can be found in Monotone, Two-Tone, Shiny Monotone, and Shiny Two-Tone.
These colors are said before the system above to further describe the chao like so:
Shinyness Tone Color Alignment/1st Evolution/2nd Evolution
Metal/Jewel colors also work for Color and in which case don't need Shinyness and Tone at all. They are:
Red/Garnet
Orangish yellow/Topaz
Light Green/Peridot
Green/Emerald
Light Blue/Aquamarine
Blue/Sapphire
Purple/Amythest
Pink/Ruby
Brownish yellow/Gold
Black/Onyx
Grey/Silver
Transparent colors are a really special breed of chao in which they are actually see-through. All fourteen standard colors can each be used to make a transparent color, but the color it makes might not match. Also, some of these chao may come out to be the same as another combination. The only way I can think of to state these accurately is to state the color of the parent shiny chao involved:
Transparent [insert color of Shiny parent] Alignment/1st Evolution/2nd Evolution
It can also be said by saying how it's made:
Shiny Metal [color of Shiny parent] Alignment/1st Evolution/2nd Evolution
This system avoids any differences in color since they don't tell what the chao looks like (examples: Sonic isn't green, Shadow doesn't have yellow stripes, Artichokes aren't purple, etc...).
In the next post, I'll talk about the terms used.
Bijou - June 16, 2006 10:38 PM (GMT)
Glossary of UCS termsAlignment - Essentially who raised the chao more while it was a child. Basically its affiliation to one of the teams.
Neutral - chao mostly shown with just a spherical ball floating above its head.
Hero - chao mostly shown with a halo floating above its head.
Dark - chao mostly shown with a spiky ball floating above its head.
1st Evolution - What it looks like right after it cocoons into an adult.
2nd Evolution - what it looks like at the very end of a series of gradual changes after being given a HUGE amount of one type of animals/Chaos Drives.
Combo Evolution - After a 2nd Evolution (it's easier this way), given another kind of animals/Chaos Drives until it's inbetween two or more 2nd Evolutions.
Swim - These chao are claimed to be aliens or fish, but really they don't look like either. Sometimes they can even be "sumos" but those just look like ducks to me.
Fly - Home to chao that are claimed to look like NiGHTS (Neutral). These chao are known to have big wings.
Run - Home to chao that are claimed to look like Sonic (Neutral) and Shadow (Dark). A lot of these chao have spikes on their heads.
Power - These chao are claimed to look like dragons, but I just don't see it. Some of these have big arms or a spike or two on its head.
Chaos - These are the chao some call Light (Neutral), Angel (Hero), and Devil (Dark). Doesn't have 2nd/Combo Evolutions and can't be a 2nd/Combo Evolution.
??? - These are the chao most refered to as Amy (Dark), Tails (Neutral), and Knuckles (Hero). Doesn't have 2nd/Combo Evolutions and can't be a 2nd/Combo Evolution.
Color - Umm... what it is... Honestly, I can't come up with textbook definitions for all of these obvious ones... >_>
Monotone - Chao of only one solid color (with an exception sometimes for Monotone Normal).
Two-Tone - Chao that have highlights, or secondary colors. Not made from two different colored Monotones.
Shiny - Chao that have "white spots" and generally have a lighter tint compared to their non-shiny counterparts.
Metal/Jewel - A special set of chao only buyable in the Tiny Chao Garden that have similar looks to Shiny chao, but there is more of a shine. These don't follow the same 14 colors the others can.
Transparent - A special set of chao that can only be bred and are see-through. These are created through breeding a Metal/Jewel and a Shiny Chao. The Metal/Jewel Chao does not matter.
CONCLUSIONThis is the system to be used for ALL things related to chao on this board.
This was all copy/pasted from a similar topic I made on GameFAQs.
To throw in more to help people, here are the chao:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v121/Art...o%20Evolutions/Choose your alignment and all the chao for that third will be their in their proper names.

Umm... interesting...? @_@ I should probably read this again, I skipped through a bunch of stuff.
SilentStrike - June 17, 2006 12:53 AM (GMT)
Uh, yeah...But I don't think I'm ever gonna get into chao again...XD

Sega intended for them to have names like that (Sonic, Shadow etc.). They use it to identify certain chao, so it's not only our system, it's Sega's too.

Most of those names don't make sense at all (Especially the Dark ones).

Orb, Ninja, Dragon, Spear, etc...
Honestly, only a moron comes up with all these names. The UCS is here to stay.

If they can come up with a name, they wouldn't be considered Morons at all.
Moron:
Psychology. A person of mild mental retardation having a mental age of from 7 to 12 years and generally having communication and social skills enabling some degree of academic or vocational education. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.
>.>
I believe it is used as a short cut in some terms, only used for some chao. Yeh, I'm starting this again. Sure the UCS is better, but people just use it because they are use to saying Sonic Chao and stuff.

I dislike those names, but seriously, SC is right. The Sonic and Shadow chao are okay in my opinion because they ACTUALLY REPRESENT THE THINGS THEY ARE NAMED AFTER.

Umm... not really. Sonic isn't Pink, but the Neutral/Run/Run can be pink. The Dark/Run/Run when Shiny Yellow all of a sudden makes a "Super Sonic" Chao to some people.
Only the things listed in the first and second posts can truly be used for all things.
SilentStrike - June 17, 2006 08:23 PM (GMT)
I still don't understand why this is such a problem here, I mean, between this and the Bead Sprites arguement last summer, I can't decide the pettiest one. Come on guys, can't you just ignore each other? Lesson teaching isn't what you need to do. XD Heck, Chaos the Legendary Hedgehog, my brother showed me that one.
Oh, Peaches, change the 'SS' you post to 'SC'. He said that one, not meh XD

I meant in shape.
And are you talking about if you got a pink chao at a store and making a neutral/run/run, or can it really naturally end up pink? o_O
Bijou - June 17, 2006 11:05 PM (GMT)
A pink chao bought in the BM.
Regardless, depending on color, the "Shadow" chao can be a "Super Sonic" chao.

Sonic#1
Dragon Warrior
Braydon the Chao Breeder
Espio Chao (was on a LOT)

Meh, to me, the real SuperSonicChao is a Shinny Yellow Neutral Run/Power. But not the point. lol

See? To some people, a chao might be completely different to others.
SilentStrike - June 19, 2006 05:21 PM (GMT)
To me, it's a dark run/run (shiny yellow)
SuperSonicChao - June 21, 2006 01:15 AM (GMT)
To be honest, I use to think those names were to look cool, actualy! :3
Neutral Power/Power Chao:
ZOMG, IT'S A DRAGON! AN ADVANCED DRAGON! Get the FREAK OTU OF HERE BFR HE KILLS US! DRAGON, OH SNAPS HE'S BREATHING FIR4!!! AHHHH

Red/Garnet Orangish yellow/Topaz Light Green/Peridot Green/Emerald Light Blue/Aquamarine Blue/Sapphire Purple/Amythest Pink/Ruby Brownish yellow/Gold Black/Onyx Grey/Silver |
The order of Jewel Chao (from lowest to highest price) is:
Metal Grey/silver (500 rings)
Metal Brown/Gold (1000 rings)
Metal Pink/Ruby (5000 rings)
Metal Blue/Sapphire
Metal Purple/Amythest (8000 rings)
Metal Green/Emerald (10000 rings)
Metal Red/Garnet (12000 rings)
Metal Sky Blue/Aquamarine (14000 rings)
Metal Lime Green/Peridot (16000 rings)
Metal Yellow/Topaz (18000 rings)
Metal Black/onyx (20000 rings)
The problem with fan names is that no one knows all of them. I agree with Bijou, names like the "Sonic Chao" are bad. Why do I think that?
Well, we all know that there are three offical "Character" Chao: Knuckles, Tails, and Amy. The problem with Sonic, Shadow, and Relea Chao is that they are aquired by a forumula, they can change apperance, they can reincarnate and die, they do not have set stats, etc.
Bijou - June 21, 2006 02:36 AM (GMT)
Quick correction. Not Shiny, but Metal.
Grimlakin - June 21, 2006 12:03 PM (GMT)
Yes, but shiny and metal chao are often condsidered the same thing. How about I put (Metal) after the word Shiny?
Bijou - June 21, 2006 02:04 PM (GMT)
That'd still be wrong. They aren't the same thing.
Grimlakin - June 23, 2006 01:02 AM (GMT)
I'm just saying that they are considered. I never said anything about agreeing about it.
I actually dispise the fact that people call two different types of chao the same when they actually aren't.
Ultima the Hedgehog - June 23, 2006 07:29 PM (GMT)
I could look and find a site that names all the (eg. Neutral/run/run) chao as they are in the 'slangy' chao interpretation (sonic chao), but right now, I honestly, can't be bothered. Hey! I'm putting, commas, in the, wrong places! You can tell, I'm tired.
There is honestly very little wrong with the sonic chao etc. words, except the interpretation problems... so N/run/power (shiny yellow or gold) could also be D/run/run (shiny yellow or gold).
For this we could use (like I used) N instead of neutral, D instead of dark and H instead of hero, it's quicker to type, and just as easy to understand.
EDIT: Good, it is pinned.

Im beginning to agree!
Because there is a knukles chao, and then there is somthing that looks like one, but we caan't call it that because its just a red chao with animal parts c:>.<
