Title: Friday the 13th!!!

SerenaW19 - October 14, 2006 10:36 AM (GMT)
It was Friday the 13th yesterday and no-one said anything :o

I only just realised this morning when I woke up realised it was Saturday the 14th and I was really scared :yikes:

Well I suppose its a bit late now, but there you go at least nothing bad happened.

I knew, but no one posted a thread, as you said. And as for nothing bad/scary happening, well,... maybe for you.

Woops, I forgot to say why it was scary for me. I was in the bathroom, and suddenly the lights went off, I switched them back on, and then I heard someone click the switch back off. Then I ran out as fast as I could, and someone tapped my back. I am not making this up.

OMG! :yikes: Still at least they didn't put an axe through you and hang you on the door afterwards like in Friday the 13 th Horror films! roflmao

Must say I am very superstitious at times and the fact that I had to go out and about yesterday made me feel very wary.

Isn't it unlucky to be superstitious?

I am more than a little superstitious too.. but Friday 13th is surely just because of the film rather than some long-running thing? Don't knowthe history of these things, but thought that the magpie/ walking under a ladder etc were more long-standing..

I don't know but Friday the 13th is pretty longstanding, I always associated with Halloween and thought they must date back a long time together. I will have tgo research it :)

Hey don't mock my paraskavedekatriaphobia ( fear of Fri 13th) or even my triskaidekaphobia (fear of No 13) roflmao

It goes a long was back. I beleive 13 is unlucky cos it was the 13th guest at the Last Supper. The Friday thing is that there have beenload sof Black fridays in history, one of the worst being on Oct 13th :yikes: when Nights Templars were captured and totured into admitting heresy. Check out wikepedia, I just found the link but it hasnt; pasted.

Ah! Thanks for that! Wilki has an alternative spelling of friggatriskaidekaphobia roflmao

What were these people on, when they made them up? Or maybe they thought that it was unlucky to have less than 13 letters in the names..

Oh and the unlucky to be superstitious bit was my attempt at a subtle joke. (cue tumbleweed.. )

A bit like that Blur line 'I'm a professional cynic but my heart's not in it' (I do like that line!) :D

Big Al - October 14, 2006 11:56 AM (GMT)
It was unlucky for me, I got a terrible cold/sore throat ! :(

liam_valid - October 14, 2006 12:01 PM (GMT)
I aint superstitious in the least, so i figured if i went for a game of bingo, i will win all the money, coz all the other punters are probably superstitious, so it will be an unlucky day for all of them, so i must be the only one who wins. Did i win? Did i f### Superstition means nothing, and i am sad enough to go to bingo on my day off, so i guess im the unlucky one

I loved that line too :D

Well I can answer that fear of no 13 - triskaidekaphobia is from Greek. tris=3 kai=and deka=10. I dont; get the long word of rfriday 13th phobia, but the one with frigga on it - well i think that might be Norse as they feared Friday 13th and frigga might be their word for friday?

Poor Liam - you must have had the number 13 on your bingo card then! roflmao

I must admit that if I was offered room 13 in a hotel or table 13 in a resaturant I woudl think about it and feel unhappy about accepting it. Most places don't have a room 13, tabel 13, flor 13 etc though - they eliminate it as people don't like it. I like my own lucky numbers, it's 6 but I also like 12 and 3 ( half a 6, double a 6) :D

Fair enough, but not always! I tell you why I dont; walk under ladders now - because something might fall on my head from the guy who's on it! roflmao I was in town and this bloke cockily meandered under a ladder when his wife was tryign to avoid it and the bloke on the ladder dropped one of his tools and narrowly missed the man. he looked terrifed, his wife was laughing he rhead off! roflmao

Friday 13th is such BS. I had the best time yesterday. I did so well in my tutorials :yahoo: , I had an amazing night out at my friends house party  and then had a massive 3 hour talk on the phone with my new special someone

Friday the 13th is just an urban legend like the boogey man or Michael Jackson's skin colour
