What is going on with England?
0-0 with Macedonia, and now 2-0 to Croatia. Croatia are one of the best in Europe, no doubt, but the performance from England was awful, lacked no passion or pace. The formation was atrocious.
I see the fickle media are now saying bring back Sven. This is the same media who couldn't wait to get rid of him. This is the same media who used him as a scapegoat for our World Cup exit. I always blamed it on the players, who are still thinking they will win just by turning up, due to their egos, which the media gave to them, by claiming they are the best in the world.
I still think England will qualify, but they have to perform much better, and drop the 'we are the best in the world' attitude that they have, and they have to stop feeling sorry for themsleves after the World Cup exit.

Good results for Scotland and Northern Ireland this week, but Wales and Ireland have not been at the races yet. :ok:

In my short lifetime, the best England side I have seen is the Euro96 side.It resembled a good old fashioned side from this country.
Men like Seaman,Ince, and Shearer new their limitations as footballers, but were professional and played to their strengths. We had a little bit of stardust then like Gazza,Mcmanaman, and Sheringham, but played as a unit.

Today I see many in the England side substituting pace with Italian ideals which is not the way for us to excel.Even though a side like Man Utd is full of foreigners they still have an english way of playing attacking at pace, and really in the last 5 years we have slowly gone away from that entirely.

I believe at the time that all vestiges of SGE should have gone including his No2.We have good footballers, not great ones.So we need to cut out the frills by trying to pass through the middle, but go back to pacy wingers, and midfielders(like Lampard)arriving late in the box.

It's simple and effective, and it worked for an average Germany at the WC.

England draw with Israel and are really looking in trouble......

On the plus side Scotland beat Georgia and will re-take the top spot in their group :D

And the Rep.Ireland beat Wales 1-0

I hate to say it, but I don't think England will qualify, because of inept tactics by McClaren, and rubbish performances from so-called 'stars' like Frank Lampard
We're 5 points off Croatia, and 3 off Russia, and we've still got to go to Russia, and we will porobably be canned based on the last few performances
We also need Beckham back, he's the only one in the team who is good at set-pieces, and the only creator in the team

Interestingly, David Healy scores another hat-trick for Nothern Ireland! :yikes: Now why can't he do that ever for Leeds?

England players just seem to stroll around the pitch expecting that to be enough. When was the last time you ever saw an England player coming off the field with a really dirty shirt?
