I have applied for one of the other 2 wildcards ;)

Its wonderful news that he has a wildcard. He has deserved this after all his hard work . He was determined to get back where he belongs. I know he hasnt got many more years left now . But it would be great if he could go out on a high. You just have to admire him for hanging on in there and believing in himself. Its paid off. Hopefully he will be seeded for the Australian Open. He heeds to go 8 places higher then he will.
Hope he gets a good draw for Madrid. He is owed one.

:D :D :D The classic backpeddling Henman smash, he is absolutely awesome at that, if I did that down the local courts the ball would end up on the main road

You found the draw brilliant. Thanks. So Tim avoids Fed eh?
But Murray gets a qualifier. Even better for him then.
Tim should be ok but we will see.
Mkkreuk - October 15, 2006 11:30 AM (GMT)
i thought they were awful draws to be fair...
Verdasco's record on hard isnt brilliant but he can be pretty tough when playing well. Recently he took roddick to 5 sets at the us open...
Ferrer is good on hard courts and will be tricky. Then probably nalby who looked to be regaining some form this week...
Murray will have to play in-form ljubicic in the second rd if he reaches it so not the best either...
Flame - October 15, 2006 11:40 AM (GMT)
tim will definitely beat verdasco and avenge his defeat at the US open last year. he might be in front of his home crowd but the spaniard is woefully out of form and probably injured.
he's also got a good shot against flakey ferrer who is SO unpredictable it's unreal.
i'd love to see him play bandy in round 3. i think he's got the game to take out the cocky argentine. all in all this could have been a lot worse for henners. i was expecting nadal in round 1, followed by fed in round 2 and then nadal again in round 3, lol. :P
Flame - October 15, 2006 11:59 AM (GMT)
to flesh out my point about verdasco, since the us open he's had 3 first round exits in a row and retired at a set all against bracciali this week.
ferrer hasn't been setting the world on fire lately either.
murray does have a really tough quarter and i'd be surprised (and disappointed quite frankly) to see him in round 3. let someone else steal the spotlight, glory boy.
JymJilly - October 15, 2006 12:01 PM (GMT)
Well you sound confident Flame. Lets hope you are right. Verdasco can be tough but as you say he is off form. And I always think if Tim plays his very best game and his serve is on he is very hard to beat. But I know its a BIG if.
Flame - October 15, 2006 12:03 PM (GMT)
actually my memory fails me. it's 2 first round exits in a row. nonetheless i have total and absolute confidence that tim will beat him. famous last words, eh? :)
JymJilly - October 15, 2006 12:05 PM (GMT)
Aye but go for it why not. Tim is always confident and positive. Thats why he is almost back to where he belongs :ok:
