Please discuss. Personally I think they will give the bryan brothers a run for thier dosh. They are more aggressive, younger and hungry.
Please feel free to air out your most appreciated views. :coffee:

Seems unlikely to me, unless Andy decides to focus on doubles over singles. It's very rare these days that you see a player near the top of the game in both. I'll bet there aren't any current players even close to being Top 20 in both singles and doubles. Mirnyi is up there in doubles, but I think he's 50-ish in singles. Bjorkman might have his singles ranking up a bit, because of Wimbledon, but still nowhere near Top 20. I don't know many other highly-regarded singles playes who regularly play doubles.

Well Jamie Murray seems pretty focused on his doubles and probably playing both would help Andy with his stamina problems and keep him fit. Focusing on singles only was a fault of henmans. With his serve and volley skills Henman would have had about 6 slams in doubles by now.

I think th eMurrays have done quite well at doubles so far, but whether they woudl eb slam winnign material is antoher issue, and I doubt it. What I ahev seen of Andy is nto fantastic, but he is learning. But as Nick says it is hard for players ot do well in both and Muray must surely focus on his singles now he is up at the top. I dont; think it will do him any harm to play doubels as well in slams though, and hope he continues to do so, but he will obviously need to wath his fitnes sand energy levels.
I agree that Henman shoudl have played doubles, I do think with his net skills he'd be a classy and successful player, but i guess he ha sha da very busy schedule over th eyear sbeign top 10 in singles.
Must say I preferred the ols days when players liek Nav and Mac were great single splayers, but also great doubels players too.

Thanks for replying my post SB I was thinking no one cared about the rising stars.
I saw Jamie Murray play in the Aberdeen cup. I know it is low profile but, he showed a huge amount of enthusiasm for the game especially in the doubles matches. I really do think in the UK we need to crawl before we walk, we hardly take interest in the doubles and it is a starting point in tennis. Once we can bring up players in double too we will start learning the ways of singles. Nadal used to play alot of doubles, so did federer, the williams, the russians. All these players did well there before they finally merged fully into singles.

Yes or even a few years ago when the Williams, Lindsay and Martina were all at the top in singles and doubles, and had parrallel rivalries going on was fun.
It's a shame really that todays top players such as Maria and Justine don't seem to give a hoot about doubles. You'd think Maria would considering shes so young

All those people were doing quite well as well. The williams, nadal and federer in particular left doubles when they hit the singles big time. According to hero who has been in the LTA for a bit thier choice of selection is abysmal and one demensional, they hand pick and then fully focus on a few individuals and then if they dont make welll, end of.....
Brits need to take a few lessons from the russians because lets face thier system is horrible and individual parents who are serious and dedicated like Judy Murray should just take thier kids out of the country. I know it is alot to ask but I am sure Yuri sharapov or Judy Murray are not regreting a single bit of that decision.

The Williams played doubles when they were multi slam winners in singles. Fed and Nadal maybe left doubles behind to concentrate on singles but Serena and Venus won their last singles slam as late as 2003 when Venus had 4 slams and Serena had 5. The only reason they don't play still is injuries and partly lack of motivation seeing as they have the Golden Grand Slam already in doubles.
I agree with what you say about Britain taking lessons from Russia though. It wouldn't hurt :)
